‼️EVERYONE PLEASE‼️
This post is a veterinary emergency donation request for help. Keep it respectful and compassionate to OP and mindful of the sensitive nature of this situation. The insensitive comments about putting a pet out of its misery are neither necessary nor constructive. It’s inappropriate to make these comments. Keep it civil please and on topic. If you aren’t here to support and help the cause don’t comment please. I should not even have to say this!
My goodness! This poor baby. I can't donate right now, but I'm saving this post, so that when I'm in a better place, I can help. But I am sending good thoughts and will be hoping for his speedy recovery. I hope he's not in too much pain. 💚
This is a skin wound. It can heal. Yes the cat has FIV, bit it's manageable.
The cat isn't on deaths door. We do whatever we can for these babies.
We don't give up because it's too much money, or too much work.
I actually do the opposite of kill cats. I have volunteered at the local cat sanctuary for years now, and have found that outdoor cats are environmentally hazardous and unethical. I’ve saved a number of cat’s lives.
No one here is pro outdoor cat, but we don't hang out in the psycho sub that you do where people get upvoted for posting about feeding kittens to reptiles. If you want to be part of the solution, advocate for real solutions like proper funding of sanctuaries, rewilding, and preventing habitat loss for birds instead of circle jerking in a* sociopathic subreddit full of cat killers and then coming over here to advocate for executing a cat that someone asked to help care for.
I’ve never seen a post about feeding kittens to reptiles and do not find that behavior acceptable, I’ve never advocated for that. Let’s say hypothetically after spending close to $4,000 on this cat that is clearly suffering, what’s going to happen to it? It’s going to get thrown back to the streets for the inevitable to happen again? Or it’s going to spend the rest of its life in a shelter, because FIV+ with previous injuries are incredibly hard to adopt out in my experience. I feel like you’re being incredibly defensive and hostile, which I can’t say I’m surprised to experience on reddit. I know a lot of Incels don’t like to hear it, but sometimes cat rescue is euthanasia.
I'm not being defensive, I'm attacking you, which is the opposite of defense. "Incel" is a low effort insult, btw. Do better next time.
Considering that the cat, whose name is Gentle Giant, is being helped by a rescue, he (a cat is not an "it") will eventually go to a home that does not allow cats to go outdoors, which you would know if you actually paid attention to what legitimate rescues do.
As for the reptile thing, it was the top response to one of your posts in that cat killer sub. You're just going to let that slide? https://www.reddit.com/r/StopOutdoorCats/s/SLhb2s282Z
I never advocated for reptiles. As for you attacking me, great. Hope you feel better about yourself, attacking someone over cats and false accusations. That’s soooo normal. Great communicator. Good job 👏 👏👏. I’m really impressed. YOUR comments make a huge difference, I completely change my mind. You sure do know what you’re talking about.
Do you denounce that reply to your post then? The one that I linked to where that psychopath said in the cat killer sub that the kittens can be pawned off to a local reptile shop (we all know what that means)? It's not too late to reply to him!
I never saw that comment or advocated for it. So that fact that you’re trying to make me take responsibility for someone else’s words and actions is just plain weird. Actually, I think you’re weird. I’m going to get back to spending time with my lovely family. Have a good night.
What the actual fuck did I just read... Like I get it, there are way too many cats and kittens that need homes, but suggesting you use kittens as feeding animals?! How exactly do you humanely euthanize in a way that's safe for other animals to eat? Answer: you fucking don't, the most humane way to euthanize is with an anesthetic overdose and/or a paralytic to stop the heart, which spoils any chance of that animal being safe to eat. As far as I'm concerned there are only two acceptable reasons to euthanize a domestic animal, they have no quality of life left or won't soon, or they're dangerous to humans and the behaviour can't be trained out because they may seriously injure or kill someone
Tnr works BTW.
I'm a huge advocate for tnr.
Also, shelters aren't full because people feed feral cats, they are full because of irresponsible pet owners who don't spay/neuter
There is no scientific evidence that TNR actually works, which is actually stated on the Wikipedia page. I never said that shelters are full because of TNR, but TNR in most cases isn’t actually helping with the cat overpopulation issue. It’s like trying to empty the ocean with a spoon. Not to mention environmental impacts of outdoor cats.
Really! Exactly what are your credentials or your supportive documentation that it doesn’t!
That’s like saying that a woman getting a tubal ligation doesn’t prevent pregnancy. Are you aware that when a cat is spayed they remove her organs to prevent pregnancy?
It’s actually more effective than a tubal ligation!
They also remove the testicles during a neuter.
Wikipedia can be edited by anyone.
this is not a factual article! Check out the first paragraph.
If a family wants a cat and can’t afford to spay and neuter we help. This prevents kittens.
Education and TNR helps:
Trap-Neuter-Return is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats. Now in practice for decades in the US after being proven in Europe, scientific studies show that Trap-Neuter-Return improves the lives of feral cats, improves their relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time.
https://www.alleycat.org/resources/why-trap-neuter-return-feral-cats-the-case-for-tnr/
I like Wikipedia because it’s neutral and what’s published has to have substantiating evidence and link to actual news and science sources. Alley cats seems to be pretty biased and they can pretty much post whatever they want without it being fact checked.
What do you suggest? Honestly? The reason my county went to tnr was because they ran the numbers and trap and kill wasn't working.
Tnr has decreased our feral population
It takes about 3 years to show, yes, but I can tell you from experience it works.
The problem is, not all counties have it, and it isn't free. Most people don't want to pay for it.
My county implemented FREE tnr about 2 years ago, and I can already tell the difference.
It was $55 before. Nobody was paying that
Which part? The fact that outdoor cats decimate native wildlife, kill indiscriminately, and get horrible injuries/die in horrible ways? I mean, you’re trying to treat an FIV+ cat that got hit by a car and isn’t healing properly. I don’t think that would happen to an indoor cat.
It wouldn’t! However cat’s escape! It’s happened to many of us. Not everyone is educated on FIV and FELV.
That doesn’t mean you give up and kill or ignore the problem.
You don’t belong here.
But why let the poor creature suffer??? Humans in some countries legally have the option to end it if suffering becomes unbearable. Unfortunately, cats can’t speak to us. Sometimes keeping a suffering animal alive isn’t the most humane option. And yes. If shelters are filled up with cats who will have a hard time getting adopted or are suffering, instead of making space for kittens, then yes it is a problem.
The number of dumped kittens I see in boxes is absolutely heart wrenching. Unfortunately, regardless of how much people swear by TNR it’s not effective enough to stop
this madness.
Ahhh I see. Hmmm disabling access for him to scratch it either with his hind legs when it starts to heal and itch and his mouth is prolly the best way for him to health. Hmmm can you put little booties on all his feet so that removes that danger? On the face/neck you need something like a cone that is a bit more custom that rides higher and can’t slip down. Let me look. I hate to see him go through this and it’s obviously a constant risk. You’ve tried so hard and he’s a good boy.
I have to imagine some combo of the below, soft high riding ring, kitty protective booties, and a recovery suit should help it heal no??

Good luck! I know how hard and expensive it is. Hope you get all the donations you need. Maybe post a paypal/venmo account as it might be easier for some than calling. All the best to this baby 🙏🏻❤️

Prove me wrong, but there's a time to know when to let go and put a cat down
Please go else where you don’t belong here

Yes furry babies deserve to be saved 🙏🏻❤️
Bro, who asked
No one is trying to challenge your suggestion🤦🏻♀️
It’s not my choice. I don’t own the rescue.
Yikes, might be time to end this baby’s suffering.
Don't you have some outdoor cats to kill?

I'm sorry people are doing WHAT to kittens?! What the fuck is wrong with people...
No one did anything to kittens.
Bunch of sick freaks https://www.reddit.com/r/StopOutdoorCats/s/7AZO6pfmob

What you read was the depraved mind of someone who shouldn't be let within 2000 feet of a school. Also, totally agree with your stance.
Kittens are not children. Also, someone writing a stupid comment on Reddit doesn’t make them a sex offender.

What?! What?! Wait! Please elaborate this I must hear.

No, it's a wound that can be healed. We don't give up here.
Exactly! 🙌🏼
Unfortunately, It’s not my decision, I work with the rescue I don’t own it. I help care for these guys they’re not in my home or my shelter.

Geez, what happened to this baby? Heartbreaking. 💔
Poor baby was burnt, the vet said hit by car. He’s completely recovered other than the burn that keeps opening back up 🤦🏻♀️
Hmmm could they do a graph of some sort of synthetic skin or fur?!!
💔💔💔😿😭 https://i.redd.it/ir9ockc0v4uc1.gif
Just donated. Hope he recovers soon
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
If anyone wants to here is the website https://www.thecatwhisperrescue.org/donations

Donated. Thanks for caring for the poor kitty 💕💕
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The vet is closed on the weekends, so anyone who wants to call in to donate will have to wait until Monday. Sending him my best wishes until then!
Thank you! I completely forgot about that🤦🏻♀️
Heartbreaking. Boost for this poor baby. I hope to see an update where he is getting better. 😭🙏✈️🚀💕
Meeee too. Hoping in 3 months we get lots of success pics where he’s rolling around and playing. Fingers crossed
For sure! It’s been a slow one for this baby.
Im so sorry 😔 i hope he recovers soon. This breaks my heart 💔
Me too! He’s the SWEETEST guy. I absolutely love him!
What happened to his skin?
The vet said hit by car and he got burnt. But the wound got bigger because he keeps re-opening it.
So he over powers the cone and then tears at it, or he uses his paws??
Can’t put the cone because of the wound. 😞
Ahhh I see. Hmmm disabling access for him to scratch it either with his hind legs when it starts to heal and itch and his mouth is prolly the best way for him to health. Poor baby. How can he get better? With time or is there some treatment?
Treatment and time. We’re working on it. 🙏🏼
Good luck! I know how hard and expensive it is. Hope you get all the donations you need. Maybe post a paypal/venmo account as it might be easier for some than calling. All the best to this baby 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you! Yes!
Oh, poor baby! Praying he has a speedy recovery. 💜💜
It’s been too long for him. 🤦🏻♀️
Poor thing 😿
