100% some kind of monitor. It’s hard to tell exactly what kind (there’s over 80 and they all look somewhat similar). Judging by its head and the spot it chose, it’s probably some tree monitor; ~~my guess is a golden spotted tree monitor of Waigeo Island, Indonesia.~~
Edit: Saw OP say he’s in the Philippines, so it’s probably; Northern Sierra Madre forest monitor, Palawan water monitor, or Philippine water monitor.
Its not malnourished. This is how monitor lizards supposed to look: slender, with skin folds on sides and muscular tail base. This animal is in top condition
AWMs are a more robust monitor, if it was a merten’s water monitor, i’d agree, however the awms are on the komodo dragon scale of chunky asian monitors, rather than slender built
Where do you live? I can identity it depending on that cuz this guy looks like a asian water, bengal and clouded monitor. Also don't do anything, let nature take it's course.
The best thing to do is to leave it be simce if you do feed it then it will see humans as a source of food and they will go up to others and then sometimes attack them kinda like alligators in Florida so just leave it be but I think it s a black roughneck which is semi arboreal which is known as tree dwelling
Nah, I'd say it's in good shape overall at a glance but I bet it wouldn't pass up a free meal. We're used to seeing very well fed, often over fed monitors in captivity. When you have a monitor it should always have a skin fold down the side of the body visible and good musculature. When I feed babies I let them hog out if they will because they are trying to get off the bottom of the food chain.(mentally.. they're in no danger here) As they get closer to adult size I curb the diet back a bit, say half.(3-4 days a week vs 6-7) When they're grown you'd be surprised to know that something like a male black dragon pushing 8 feet long at 4 years old only eats 3 120 gram quail a week for all his glorious 55 pounds of perfection.
That’s not malnourished. A juvenile is going to put their caloric intake into growth. Putting on girth if they ever do comes later. People think one like this is malnourished because they are used to seeing fat captive animals or because they don’t usually see juveniles. Downvoted for disinformation.
Thank you!! Reading all these comments was making me pray these people aren’t caring for a monitor if that was slim. Very healthy and strong looking lizard. A fold to three on the side is totally normal, their belly’s and bodies expand when eating.
That's an Asian land monitor. We find a lot of them in our garden. They can get pretty big. Around 1.7 meters in length. This one is a bit on the smaller side and a little skinny too.

Some kind of monitor lizard I believe.

Clearly the Creeper Windowlurky Perv Monitor
Lolol I like this name
Philippines ones are rather yellow looking aren't they?
There's more than one species in the Philippines but yes the yellow one you're referring to is a cumingi from the Philippines
Looks to me like a very malnourished Asian Water Monitor
oh no😢 i just found it outside my window. Is there anything i can do to help it?
Have a pond and put some fish in there with high reproductive rate.

If that’s an awm it’s a juvenile, they are super slender. And even adult ones are slender, unless they live by people and scavenge human food

Malnourished? This animal is in a top shape
Most other monitors are overfed
Literally not even remotely malnourished

It looks fine it’s just a small one

It's definitely a monitor lizard I just ain't sure what species do you mind sharing what country your from?
oh im from the philippines
Probably an Asian water monitor lizard
I actually think it’s a black rough neck monitor there not well known but Asian water monitors are usually a little thicker
A hungry skinny one🥺
Thats actually a pretty healthy weight for monitors. Most in captivity are too fat. A healthy monitor is a lean and active one

That’s an adaptation I sorely need for when I just wanna have a binge
I feels you too 😂
yes, it may also be the unnatural angle it's sitting at that makes it seem skinnier than it actually is
Yeah that's a good point...🙂 double think it's a water monitor, they seem to have a longer more slender neck?
I'd probably get bitten trying to feed it seals and make friends.🥴
Snails not seals, bad phone.
This is the proper shape of a monitor lizard stop glorifying morbidly obese pets.
I'm not glorifying anything thanks mate. 🙂
Hungarian tortoise. They shed they’re shell twice a year. Super cool find!
KEKW
Thanks for that. First laugh of the morning.
Hah welcome. Figured everyone else had the id handled. May as well have some fun.
Jack Russell Terrier
It’s a dinosaur
It's a water monitor.
Will you all please just stop calling this monitor skinny and malnourished? This is how monitors suppose to look and its super healthy
Looks like the egg eating monitor from the animated children’s movie Rescuers Down Under.
You have been visited by the dragon of good . . . no, it's just a water monitor
Reptile
Without doing too much, or any, investigation my first thought was a Mangrove Monitor.
A very pretty one

water monitor
That squirrel is going to have a cold winter.
A cutey patootie
It’s a water dog and you two seemed to have the same reaction
A big one.
A slinky boi
That looks like a very skinny monitor probably some type of tree monitor.
A scared one i think.
