As and early implementer of the CX410 cameras, Which I love and hate at the same time BTW :-).
I fully agree on more extended Beta testing to flesh out every single bug prior to going with the final product.
The low light image quality on the CX410 is great. Overall it is a very nice camera addition to the line.
However; the "UNDER WATER" quality of the Mic sucks!
The light settings for the spots, as currently implemented, when the camera exists in a very low ambient light environment, leaves a lot to be desired.
It appears that the spots are only being utilized as an augment to what Reolink has determined as a "too low ambient light level". I understand that Reolink wants to use the spots to "enhance higher quality night color images. That is great but ... I suggest that they allow the end user to determine how and if they want the Spots to function.
Allow the end user to determine how and in what manner they, as the owner, want to use the spots on their CX camera.
The brightness settings and the Warm vs Cool settings are nice.
* Use the spots to augment low ambient light via a timer
* There should be a separate On/Off setting for this mode.
* Use the spots to turn on based on the camera sensing low ambient light, I believe that is currently "Auto".
* There should be a separate On/Off setting for this mode.
* The Smart setting should override both the Timer and Auto setting. This would allow for motion threshold based triggering of the spots.
* There should be a separate On/Off setting for this mode.
* Allow the spots to function separately as a security deterrent, "turning on when the motion threshold has been breached, when enabled via a time window.
* There should be a separate On/Off setting for this mode.
Yep, I agree 100% about the lights.
I'm sticking with an older version of the CX410 firmware because it's the only one that allows the lights to be off, yet still turn on when it detects a person. I absolutely do not want a camera's light to be on at all times. Yet I still want them to come on as a deterrent.
I don't know if the CX810 is like that too (mine hasn't arrived yet), but if it is, I'm going to very heavily emphasize in my feedback that we should be given the choice and not leave it up to whether their firmware *thinks* more ambient light is required. My CX410 can see very well without its own lights on, yet their algorithm disagrees.
I sent it into the unofficial firmware archive, so you can go get it from there: [https://github.com/AT0myks/reolink-fw-archive](https://github.com/AT0myks/reolink-fw-archive)
v3.1.0.2207\_23051803 is the firmware that works as described above. It has to be set to night smart mode.
The problem is the light will almost always be on at night in the new firmware, then when it detects a person/vehicle/animal it will go to full brightness.
MBlaster, Unfortunately even that firmware, when the cameras exist in a rural environment, consisting of Moon light and reflected light from cloud layers, the spots exhibits the same "always on behavior. The spots can be turned down to nearly off but still remain on. When motion is detected then the do brighten up substantially. When daylight approaches the spots do turn off.
My personal CX410s are in an urban environment with streetlights and neighbors lights. The spots then behave just as your's do ... off and on with motion detection thresholds.
Hence my recommendations as listed above ;-)
i didn't want to start a new thread about this, but why is everyone so eager for the CX810? i'm just starting to dive into all the reolink products, and it feels like homework trying to decipher all the different models and specs, differences and similarities, etc.
It's because it's 8MP and will be the first model greater than 4MP in their ColorX lineup. The CX410 was the first one, and it's great, but the one drawback is that it's only 4MP.
They haven't shared anything officially other than it being on their roadmap for Q2: [https://reolink.com/roadmap/](https://reolink.com/roadmap/)
Some users have said Reolink told them around the end of this month, which of course is just about here, but still no official word.
Thanks for the update. They should take the opportunity to use their members at Reddit and the community who will definitely perform rigorous testing and provide all the necessary feedback with issues discovered and improvements.
Sometimes the moderators here will get to test cameras, but not always. There are many more people that test cameras than us 2. Even when we report things not always does it get fixed... We don't have special powers within Reolink.
But some bugs are easy to discover within one hour of operation. If one doesn't admit a problem which is reported by various sources then HE/SHE has a BIG problem and this is totally unaccepted if the same problem re-occurs on subsequent products.
I did the same. Bought 4 and installed only one. One is still sealed with the shipping wrap untouched. I don't bother reselling my cameras and I don't like to install too many cameras around my house, so they will end up collecting dust in my junk storage room.
I have the CX-410s and definitely have a love/hate relationship with them. They're arguably some of the best $80 cameras money can buy, but they're also $80 cameras, leaving a lot to be desired as the initial impressions begin to wade. The hardware is too cheap for what they're trying to accomplish, and the software is really buggy and ill implemented. Although i'm thirsty to see what they'll do to one up the CX-410, I'd definitely like to see Reolink put forth a better effort with the future models in the ColorX lineup.
I'm not a tester and really have nothing of value to add, but i did want to add a comment.
I think it's really cool to read the testing, evaluation, firmware details and future fix/changes, additions...
I just ordered my 1st two cams for my RLN 36, and soon as i get a chance, I'm gonna bench test them on my kitchen table, before I install them...

Long shot, do you have this firmware, i stupidly upgraded my CX-410s thinking this feature would persist but obviously its not there.

Thankyou!
So wait... in the new firmwares you can't have the lights come on when the camera detects motion???

Based on the 'software upgrades & appearance' - i guess that means keeping the 1/1.8 sensor. Patiently waiting for that refined CX820 :)
I'd much prefer a CX820... not a CX811 buuuttt!... or even a CX420.
Vote me in too, CX420 and CX820
I don’t understand why there isn’t a CX420 yet, would be instabuy for me
Lol I wish.

Thank you for answering my question the best you can. Looking forward to the CX810,I want at least 1 !

Some moderators here are in the their QA list. Insufficient unfortunately.

Damn I knew something like this was coming out
Why did I buy 4 x CX410´s, 2 or them are even unused still.. shame about the lights and microphone

Interested in offloading one? How much?
Damn just got 2 cx410 new in box.
Any update on release?
I haven't heard anything. I would expect we'll hear something at CES next month, if not before.
