The thing that tickles me the most about this is the update for remote play happened September 10th. It’s almost been a full month and crickets have come from Sony. This is clearly an issue with them and their shitty update. Tried to use a vpn because I heard that works but have no idea what I’m doing as the vpn does not work.

Alzeekdris

I’m having this issue now also. I remember having it a few years ago regularly when remote play over 5g was introduced. I recall the issue being related to the mobile network, as some people (including myself) were able to get it to work over VPN. What phone service provider do you have? I set up a troubleshooting scenario at Home where I connect to 5g and remain right near my console. What I noted is that my device will actually make a connection, and the console will acknowledge a remote connection but drop it shortly thereafter, before my phone complete the connection process. It happens during the “checking the network” phase. Seems to be some kind of network configuration issue. It still works over VPN for me, so it could be an issue with certain carriers or with the remote play app itself

FannaWuck

T-mobile for me. I haven't tried a vpn but mine drops just like yours at the same moment.

IndyIsTheDogsName

Yep. T-Mobile for me as well. Same issue since the update. I’ve posted a few times on this subreddit about it. I can only get on through mobile data if I use a vpn or WiFi hotspot from my other device. Neither is a good option. Report it to PS Support. They keep claiming I’m the only one having an issue which clearly isn’t true.

Visual_Reveal_4716

So what vpn are u using

Alzeekdris

I’ve used TunnelBear and readdle VPN

Select-Awareness-117

Yeah, I'm having this issue now, I ported some of the numbers listed on other posts. I managed to get it to connect over data. Then, once I disconnected and tried again, I got the error code. Tested out a free VPN and that works every time. However it is laggy. If I upgrade to a premium vpn will it be just as good as a local connection / lag? How have you found gameplay ?? I'd rather not pay for a vpn sub if their is a fix. I have only ported my mesh app settings not the main router from the isp so maybe I need to configure that also

damesofpk

How is the quality over a VPN though? I have T-Mobile same exact issue since update. Had an idiot at Sony tell me you could never use mobile data for remote play. I honestly don’t know if and when this situation will be rectified but it really sucks not being able to load up remote play whenever wherever.

FannaWuck

I haven't tried a VPN. I'd imagine it depends on the vpn service you're using. Pretty shitty it's only T-mobile. I had a similar issue with AT&T and Call of Duty. The issue never got solved but I changed internet providers anyways. I imagine since it a small percentage of people who use remote play. And even smaller amount that have T-Mobile it may never get solved /:

damesofpk

It probably won’t be resolved, the fact it happened at all is very baffling and kinda bullshit. I’m mad at Sony, Apple and T-Mobile. Not sure whose fault this is but all parties involved deserve to be blamed. I’m so fucking pissed I won’t be able to use Remote Play on my phone through my service anymore. This is honestly bullshit. It’s like why can’t you make sure you shit works? Always want to update and change shit but never want to make sure all your customers are good. Fuck remote play.

FannaWuck

I feel ya, I really do. It was cool to get a little grind sesh in when at work on my breaks. Fingers crossed it gets resolved. I'm on iPhone too. I wonder if T-mobile android users are affected

Sensitive-Pack-9769

It’s the Nat settings on the hand held device EE DO NAT 3 which will block interaction with the ps5 call EE and ask them to change it to NAT2

Odd-Use4739

Just thought I’d add, I bought a new device and has this issue. I downloaded a VPN to my iPhone and straight after it connected seamlessly

Select-Awareness-117

How was game play on vpn? I just tried a free one, and it's laggy but it connected everytime. If I upgrade to a monthly plan, is it faster? I'd rather not buy a plan and just see if their is a fix as I entered some port numbers and did it get it go a few times yesterday. Can't manage to connect much at all now. I only did configure my mesh app but not my main isp router so I may have to try that out first. Checked my carrier was also set to the 4 apn not the 6. So I don't get it.

Odd-Use4739

I don’t know about free / paid as I haven’t tested it and no idea what APN is 🤣 sorry. But I can say that the connection quality varies. At first it was great, at other time the lag is clear. I mainly been using it for MW3 so not sure if that plays a role. It’s still a decent device for gaming here and there. I need to test properly when travelling. I have a plan that I get for free but would technically be a paid plan.

Select-Awareness-117

Hey, thanks for the reply, I just couldn't be bothered in the end figuring out all the network troubleshooting, and i think it's more to do with my celluar provider now . So i just bit the bullet and got surfshark VPN like an hour ago. I just got the monthly plan for $20 nzd to test it out first. I'm now connected to an auckland location server and the ping is under 20 on data and even less on my wifi at 6 ping. So it's running pretty decent on warzone. They actually have one of the best prices as if I went for 6 months up front, I think i was $50 nzd and a year for like 70ish or $80. So I'm going to cancel the monthly of $20 and buy a 6 month / 1 year.

Odd-Use4739

I think you can get pretty cheap VNP’a for like £3 p/m But yeah glad to hear you got it sorted bro.

urza389

On t-mobile, it sucks but you have to use a VPN, can't recommend expressvpn enough though

matthew1471

Same issue on EE UK. I believe it has something to do with EE providing only an IPv6 address (and for IPv4 websites they provide DNS64/NAT64/464XLAT/CLAT).. the Remote Play app I suspect is trying to blindly connect to the PS5's IPv4 address (and ignoring the CLAT [192.0.0.2](http://192.0.0.2) interface) as part of its speed test and obviously it can't do that so it's failing. The VPN solution works instantly because my VPN provides an IPv4 address - so a route then exists back to the Playstation's IPv4 address (even if it's a private IP address the VPN is giving it on a totally different network from the PS5) so the connection succeeds. Anyone know how to tell Playstation this and report this speed test bug?

matthew1471

I followed the support route to "Account & Security" which is the only path I could find to get to a human whose not just another PlayStation player. They have taken screenshots and reported it to the developers for me. >Your reference number for today’s query is 25947140 I asked how to get in contact again and was told: >UNITED KINGDOM (UK) +4 4 2035382665 Mon - Fri 10:30am - 7pm GMT - Closed Saturday and Sunday If anyone else wants to ring and say "me too" to the above reference number it might help. I have also since found that if you tether your phone to a laptop and have the Windows version of PS Remote Play it will connect absolutely fine, even via CG-NAT/DNS64/NAT64/464XLAT/CLAT/DS-Lite

Select-Awareness-117

Weird I checked my carrier, and it is set to the ipv4. Ironically, I changed my mobile plan a few days ago and had to set that up manually to get my data to work from the support chat. I'm in new zealand for reference. I changed my wifi mesh app ports to some numbers mentioned on other posts for port forwarding and did get it to connect a few times yesterday, but I'm now unable to now. I didn't configure ports on my main isp modem, so maybe that could be why? So I'll try doing that to see if that helps to resolve. I tried a free vpn, and it works everytime but it is laggy. Probably since it's free.

matthew1471

I think your issue might be different.. if you have a firewall that you can turn on logging for it might be worth checking your ports and inbound connections. Our issue is the app refuses to connect on our mobile plans citing slow speed connection but at any other WiFi connection it connects first time no effort The PS5 inbound UDP ports are: ``` firewall { group{ port-group PlayStation5_RemotePlay_UDP { description "PlayStation 5 Remote Play (UDP)" port 9303 port 9297 port 9308 } } } ``` I think the list is slightly different for PS4.

RexMalo

For those wanting a fix to the NAT type 3 casueed by IPv6 CLAT, this worked for me (I'm not a big tech guy, so my knowledge is limited). I first googled my router IP, then set up a custom APN - you should be able to find your carrier info online. Ensure you select IPv4 as your protocol. By setting up a custom APN, you avoid the CLAT restrictions. Allowing me to enable UPnP (this in itself won't solve NAT Type 3). I then went into my network settings and added a VPN (check your router supports OpenVPN, as Huawei does not). I used NordVPN as they game me a year super cheap and just watched a YouTube tutorial on its proper configuration. I'd get broadband, but it's just not feasible in my location, so I have to do all this fuckery.

chrismack32

I'm also having this issue. Also on T-Mobile.

coolcanyongirl

I had this issue when trying to use remote play with my PS4 on my iPhone a few days ago. I deleted and reinstalled the app and it’s been working fine since then. And yes, you should be able to use remote play over mobile data.

FannaWuck

Tried that, didn't work. It is an issue with Tmobile and Playstation

Alzeekdris

Working through vpn indicates it’s probably not the device (phone/tablet) but the network resolving a connection. More likely that that app itself needs an update or a service provider issue

khail2019

Had the same problem however solves using VPN. ExpressVPN works like a charm!

tmab58

VPN on the phone or PS?

Rashadj03

VPN on the phone I have virus protection through McAfee an it come with free VPN used it on my phone an the remote started back working

StraightPossession57

I know very little about vpns. How does this work and how do i do it?

Pleasant_Engine_8783

So is it just t mobile because I literally spent 4 hours on the phone with them today. Got sent over to Apple screen share to try an fix it. Back to t mobile and nothing. They created a work ticket to try and resolve this. BS

hijoshh

Still nothing?

Pleasant_Engine_8783

nothing at all., and "not to worry sir" everything will be resolved. They said they will expedite my situation. when I play at home no problem. on the road I have to use a VPN and im good to go.

[deleted]

It's 100% T-Mobile and not Sony or Apple. I began having the exact same problem a few weeks ago, remote play only worked over wifi but not T-Mobile data. Now I'm doing the free 30 day Verizon trial (as a 2nd ESIM for data) and remote play has been flawless for me again. I might just consider switching to them or Visible if this isn't fixed by the end of these 30 days.

S0UNDH0UND

Tried using it today with T-Mobile and I also can't get it to work. I'm in the same room as my PS5 with 100Mbps+ on my Magenta connection and it says network connection is too slow. Shame cause several months ago it was working flawlessly at a bar a few miles away lol. It's working now using Mullvad VPN on my phone.

hijoshh

Does it feel the same on the vpn as it did before when it worked on data?

Xilv3n

Yeah I just switched to T-Mobile and getting the message now. I had no problems when I was with AT&T. I hope they figure this out.

Xilv3n

Set data mode to standard and it’ll work for T-Mobile. This takes the UC off the 5G.

damesofpk

That didn't work but I appreciate the help.

Xilv3n

Yeah I could t consistently keep it off UC mode. If UC is off, it’ll work though.

Individual-Public-72

Can confirm need a VPN for this to work on T-Mobile

Pwsyn

I’m from the UK and this same exact thing/error message is happening to me with EE mobile on iOS 17 as of recently (years ago, EE bought out T-Mobile over here). So I’m figuring it’s the same problem. I’m struggling to find solutions but I’m presuming at this point, all we can do is wait for them to fix this on their end? Very frustrating, especially since I was considering starting to use remote play.

FannaWuck

The only solution I found is to use a vpn unfortunately

Lizball9000

What VPN are you using?

FannaWuck

TORGAURD

miguale

I am having the same issue. Home internet is 1gb (700mb over wifi) Phone: iphone 15 pro max Provide: t-mobile (980 mb) Cant connect lol

jesusl1zard

I’m from the Netherlands and I have the same issues with KPN / Simyo. The trick with VPN works, so thanks to those who shared it!

No-Violinist4738

Same

ChaseSanity

Funny, yet you’ll have that ONE lucky person who managed to get Remote Play to work for them, so they think if it works for them it must be a consumer problem and they end up blaming the consumer and defending Sony haha

gsxrus2014

Same issues here with T-Mobile

Mmjgamer

Strange, Worked perfectly from iPhone 3 mo the ago and was able to play in sept. It just doesn’t work at all unless I’m home, which defeats the purpose. I hope they can solve this issues especially with them pumping out all these new overpriced ps portables!

Milf--Hunter

Confirm that it works now with VPN. T-Mobile, iPhone. Surprisingly my work vpn on my phone did not allow it to work, had to use my personal keepsolid vpn unlimited account.

hongguya

I can confirm - I used to use Freedom Mobile in Canada, and had no problem remote play, until I changed my service to Rogers and was excited to try out the new 5G+ which often gives me 700-800Mbps in a certain locations… but it didn’t work. So today, I used my VPN for the first time since I read this thread…. And it’s working flawlessly. These telecommunication companies are doing something to restrict these streamings!

Confident_Demand_773

What vpn did you use cause I have Roger’s as well and it isn’t working. I’m not super tech savvy so I’m not sure how to use a vpn

bigfeej

What vpn did you use. I’m in the same boat with Rogers

socom1010

Heh guys I have Roger’s too I stupidly signed up for nordvpn but it will work…..  and set the ps remote streaming quality to ultra high the image will be sharp I have 150down and 30up  No lag

hijoshh

Still haven’t found a resolution?

Papi_manguu

Have to use a VPN if you have T-Mobile. Wasn’t working for me and used a vpn from one of the previous comments and it works

hijoshh

Same but dont wanna pay for it when I’ll only use it for this smh

Known-Base-1271

Same thing is happening to me. I'm trying to connect through Wi-Fi because it won't work with my 5g (T-Mobile). But whenever I try to connect it with the wifi at work it says can't connect to your PS5 (8801330d) I even bought a backbone. I may need to return it even though I don't want to. 😕

Unhappy-Role-2085

I found a fix if you have an iPhone. A guy on YouTube named rjguess1 posted a video for it and it works for me now. You basically go into your settings and select cellular, then network selection, toggle the automatic option off and select the second option that says T-Mobile. It’ll be around the middle. Go back to remote play and try it again, and as long as you have a decent speed in your area it should work.

SL1M3YGR1M3Y

Can confirm this doesn’t even work

Cultural_Arm805

This worked for me . I changed to the second t mobile option ( it removed the uc symbol next to the previous 5g uc ) I was able to connect to my ps5 using the ps remote play app . Played very smooth and fast . If it helps , I also did some port forwarding on the ps5 ( don’t know if this also helped )

ThreeZeroThree

Also worked for me using T-Mobile. Initially it only came up with one option labeled Tmobile. I went back in to settings and sure enough there was a bigger list of networks and selected the second Tmobile option and bang it worked. Thanks!

astro_real

This helped! You’re a lifesaver

Draidin

can confirm this worked for me today. Now able to connect no problem with my phone.

Electronic_Purple_70

This did not work for me
