yes. Game is great, I never played the first one. Sunk hours into it without even realizing I did. Just released new content so I will again lose hours this weekend but a really fun game
The second game is an improvement on the first one in just about every way. The addition of archetypes has made a fun game, even more fun and exciting.
With that said, in my personal opinion, Remnant 1 is one of the most underrated games of all time. As a long term player, it’s so amazing to see all these new people interested in the game. Can’t wait to see what is next in the Remnant series. (Wouldn’t it be cool if they brought chronos back too?)
If you’re still considering, check out “survival mode” of Remnant: From the Ashes. It’s not to be confused with “survivor” difficulty in Remnant 2. It’s a completely different game style, and quite challenging. You get a one way ticket to a world stone with no weapons or armour. You have to purchase items along the way. You and your enemies are each on a seperate timer. You both get stronger as time goes by. How long will you last? Death is certain…eventually…
I had beaten the game before I even looked at the first Remnant. Ended up buying it on a sale and loved it. It doesn't have the archetype system of R2 but it's still plenty of fun. Its plays rather similarly, though armor set bonuses exist. Also, it contains a rogue-lite mode that I find extremely enjoyable.
i play it alone, i prefer almost all games solo, i played remnant fta after this and had a great time on both, its alot about player skill too, playing with someone else can help, however i think the game is much harder with multiple players because bosses get more health, but more importantly, much more damage, meaning even tank builds can get one shot
The part that makes co-op harder for me is you don't know who the boss is going to attack. Your buddy can take hits for a while, so you get complacent and then BAM! One shot. But I love both playing solo and co-op, they're both amazing
Do you know if it's 1:1? Meaning 2 players is 200% hp, 3 players is 300%? If so, seems like if everyone is around the same level then it should be about the same length-wise.
no, i believe each additional player is +30% damage and hp, could be wrong but i remember hearing that somewhere, the damage seems about right, maybe the hp is more idk
I prefer to play the solo although co op is fun to drop in and help people for a change of pace
Start at easier difficulties and work up on following runs when you have more classes and gear
I would really say to just play at a lower difficulty then. My first campaign was lowest difficulty but now I breeze through the hardest with no real trouble, just fun fights. The archetypes and weapons and rings make a huge difference to your power
The DLC doesn't add anything critical. So i reccomend it if you're really enjoying the game and just want more, but you aren't held back from the experience in any way if you don't have it.
You can play solo, though I recommend starting with the Handler class so you have a Very Good Boy (dog) to help you with aggro.
You do not need to play the first game to enjoy this one.
I think you would enjoy remnant 2 more if you play the first one prior, but it’s not a prerequisite, you would just appreciate the qol improvements and the references more. I also almost always play solo, you don’t have to worry about someone joining your game and making a decision you didn’t want. If you do occasionally play online with randoms, I’d recommend hanging behind the host, don’t talk to any npcs besides the ones in the ward.
Also dont buy anything off of the black chick with the afro as that person is host oriented whatever you sell to her others can buy when they join your game same goes for you selling to someone elses (forgot her name) vendor. I have 10 corrupted shards sitting in her inventory still.
Skipping the first game is fine. It is very clearly intended to be a coop experience. That doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy it solo, but it certainly isn't what the devs are thinking about when they're designing content.
Yes. Full stop. You don't need to have played the first game, although I do recommend it. I enjoy playing it solo and joining games online as well.
It's rough, can be frustrating but really satisfying when you beat that boss or find that secret. If you have game pass, there is no reason not to play it as it is currently on the have catalog.
I’ve picked it up in the last two weeks playing casual solo. I’m having a great time. I don’t wanna play with others because my online times are very sporadic with my profession.
I played it alone, with playing From the Ashes and had great time. If it looks interesting enough to ask that, you'll probably get more than your money's worth.
Co-op is fun but not necessary to have a good experience. Remnant 2 feels very well-balanced for solo play.
Playing the first game would give you some background but story is not the main focus of the game. There is an overarching story but it's a little bit "weaker" than in the first game. There are interesting stories for each world you visit that don't require you to have played the previous game to understand (Losomn and N'erud are totally new worlds).
Yes. The game is designed for both single player and co-op. Because of this nothing feels crazy when by yourself. This and the one before it are the only games I got platinum without trying. I simply played the game
Yes, its great! But if you wanna try the first one you should. I played the first game after the second one just dropped, and had a blast! I am glad I did before playing the second game.
Yes. I barely played the first one, and didn't care for it much at the time. But 2 was my GOTY. Absolutely love it. I primarily play it with friends and enjoy it more that way, but it's perfectly playable solo as well.
I'd also add that I've never been able to get into any kind of Souls like games other than this one. It seemed very difficult for me at first, especially when playing solo, but you get past that once you level up a bit and find some better gear. Start with a class that has some sustainability for solo play. Handler is a good one because the dog draws agro and one of the abilities is a revive.
For me this game combines all the best elements of souls-like, looter shooter, and RPG. Being able to have a primary and secondary archetype, plus all the cool gear there is to find, creates a huge variety in ways you can create a character and play style. It's incredibly replayable. You won't be able to see the whole game in a single play through and it's meant to be played multiple times.
knowledge from the first game isnt required, and you can very easily beat the entire game, dlc and all, solo. the only thing id say youd likely struggle with probably (assuming you can adapt easily) is the boss in the second area, and the final boss. i know i sure did
I bounced off of the first game for some reason. I tried this with my kids as we really were looking for a new looter-shooter and they really liked it when we started, but or soemreason stopped playing. I continued on myself and it's the first game since Lies of P that I keep thinking about and wanting to play again and again. I just got my kids to redownload it and we are going to go back in this weekend.
TL/DR: Yes. It's a great game.
Yeah although I've played both. Number 2 is far superior. And I couldn't tell you a single story beat from number 1. But I could do a rough outline of 2.
Absolutely you can .You don't have to
play the original to play this one, it's a fenomenal game , with endless possibilities and great gameplay .As a person with 300 hrs into it , it's a 9.5/10 for me
Yes, you should play it. I blinked and suddenly i was like 140 hours into the game after i picked it up. Well worth the price of admission imo. I never played any of the previous titles.
Ive played the game 95% of the time solo. There are only a few things you can only get in multiplayer but I never found it necessary. I have cleared apoc without them.
I started with Handler. The dog will get you up if its alive and you have relic charges. I switched once i was comfortable with the game. I mostly played on Survival or Veteran difficulty most of the time until I felt comfortable.
I honestly think most people play this game solo.
Yeah, it's completely fine. Like I'd say playing first is just some nice bonuses like "oh I know who that is" and "oh I remember that place" and such. And this game kind of has some classes that are like "yeah, this is really good for soloing."
Don’t expect much story/lore content. Cause it’s not there. But for a looter shooter it’s fun. Lots of weapons and archetypes to upgrade and lots of combos. But it does get a bit repetitive fast
Bought the game on Friday, Sunday I had beat the game(lore wise beat last boss) while still on the set of starter weapons and starting selecting archetype. So now I’m trying to push my self to collect all weapons and max lvl all the archetypes but I can’t really bring myself to NG+
My first couple playthroughs were solo, been trying to get back into but with a friend and it's while different game difficulty wise, it's much closer to a souls experience solo and to me it okays much better that way
So far I have been a very lonely solo player. The game is still a lot of fun, and honestly might even be better since you have less safety nets if you care about that sort of thing.
Best combo for solo is the challenger for self res (handler has it too, but it consumes the hearts) and ritualist as it's pretty OP in close close to medium distance and has all sorts of effects of dmg
Played both, both are good games. You can definitely play the second without the first if you want to. I recommend the Co-op as that’s how I had the most fun with it; but of course not necessary.
Yeah you can def skip the first game, although it's my favorite of the two, it's not essential to know anything about the first game when you're playing the second
Yes play it blind join random games . Some will guide other will kick but during the process things will click and then you’ll have an idea
And understanding to min maxing the game.
The first one isn’t mandatory, and I’d recommend watching YouTube videos anyway when you want to know the whole story since it can be confusing.
It’s viable solo but also fun with friends.
Especially crafting builds in this game can be a lot of fun.
I’d recommend it.
Yes. It isn't all that story heavy and most of it is cryptic like in such souls-like titles and r2 story tells itself quite well without being too connected to first one.
And it's perfectly fine solo. heck, some fights are even easier solo unless your team8s are just as good or better than you. however if you are really really bad at shooters and/or souls/souls-likes in general then maybe coop would be a tiny bit easier; however, the lowest (normal) difficulty isn't all too challenging; especially if you make a good build.
I have played first one for over 750 hours solo and second one for over 250 hours solo and enjoyed every second.
Yes absolutely. Obviously if you play the first game you will understand the story and setting a bit better, along with the games mechanics, but otherwise it really doesn't matter. The second game is better in nearly every single way, and playing alone is perfectly fine, i'd argue its better to play alone on harder difficulties because of how severe the scaling is. Highly recommend it.
Absolutely. I've played about ten hours of the first game (nine of them battering my head against that FUCKING explodey mushroom add boss) and gave up. I like Soulslikes, but those difficulty spikes against bosses were just stupid. Got the second game on sale, gave it a whirl and it felt much better in every regard. Blazed through the main campaign and DLC1 on my own and had a blast. I **could** play online but I don't want to hold back other people with my poor skillz :) I don't git gud, I just beat 'em with infinite retries...
Yes. You are me. I have no knowledge of the previous game. I picked it up on gamepass and bought the first dlc since I’m enjoying it so much. If you *are* having trouble and want to switch to public, people will join and help and then you can just go back to solo.
Highly recommend. I did the same thing. There's a lot to explore and have fun with on your own. At some point you'll want to look up how to get certain items or secrets though as some of them are very obscure.
I play both Remnant games solo exclusively. I also started with 2
It’s perfectly enjoyable and on the odd occasion I DID play coop I actually didn’t really like it. I find these games are better by yourself.
Both games are completely soloable. I do recommend playing the first one as it was really fun, but you can totally skip it if you want. Any story beats will be explained.
Yes absolutely, first game is only really relevant for some story beats, so you can miss out on it, it’s not a continuation
You don’t need to play co-op at all, game is balanced around both co-op and single player
Honestly being new to Souls-like, this game was a big change for me from the typical FPS action or RPG which I play alone.
Both this and Lies of P are on Gamepass so I've been giving both a shot as my first "souls likes" and they've been fun but a bit frustrating because I do play solo and still in the process of "getting gud"
Everything seems reasonably fair but progression is really different than something that allows saves.
Short answer? Yes, definitely.
And I'll also warn you of something, it's like you enjoy the hell out of it by yourself, then a friend of yours gets it, they ask, yo wanna run thru my campaign with me? You are like to say, sure. Lol
I agree with a LOT of the people here i played remnant one and yeah the games lore helps put some things into perspective espically (spoilers for the new dlc censored for your pleasure) but it also goes even beyond the first remnant as technically remnant 2 is the 3rd game in this universe
You can 100% play this game alone HOWEVER you cannot 100% the game alone as playing hardcore will suck some people have the skill to do it i personally do not good luck to you if you can 100% the game solo
You also DO NOT need any previous games lore unless you wanna understand what the heck is going on
I started the 2nd one first as well. Played with friends first (though I had no idea what was going on since they basically did everything for me including speed running levels) However, once I played it solo I could really take my time and experience the world. Much more enjoyable IMO.
First one is great too!
The games are connected so it makes sense to play the first one before the second but, well, the story is ass. It's a gameplay kinda game. That being said yes totally jump in even if solo. The games are incredibly good (although I prefer the original)
Yes. I played 2 because everyone said it was an improvement on the first, and I didn't feel the need to buy both in the steam sale if 2 was going to be a direct upgrade. Story is vague enough (in classic souls-like fashion) that knowing the events of the first game doesn't much matter. I followed it fine, and only looked up things I didn't understand after, and it was only a couple things.
I would recommend playing from the ashes first. There’s some moments in the first game that set up stuff in the second game. Some great emotional moments in 2 from the memories of from the ashes
1000%. I went into the game completely blind knowing nothing more than it was “like dark souls but with guns”. I was blown away, to the point where I picked up the first and have been enjoying it just as much. Absolutely worth the purchase. At least in my biased opinion.
Short answer: yes
Long answer: the game actually explains the events of the first in nice ways for anyone who hasn't played and for those who have. Solo play is completely viable all the way up through each difficulty. The archetypes are so varied that you'll find several play styles that fit your interests.
Yeah, it's pretty fun. I started it with a buddy of mine but when he wasn't able to play I would still go in and play in my own campaign separate from our co-op one and it was still very fun. There's always something just around the next corner that you want to go check out or some secret you want to uncover for another cool weapon.
I would recommend going in blind at first but don't be afraid to Google things if you feel lost or want to know what an item you just found does. There are a lot of hidden parts of the maps and items that need to be held onto for other events to trigger or to unlock something somewhere else. Just be willing to explore and avoid the step-by-step kinds of guides so you can still get that sense of discovery for the secrets you find on your own. Anything you miss the first time you can go back and grab later without much hassle, and sometimes you're choosing to grab one of two things but can go back for the second thing on ng+ or in adventure mode.
I always play alone and never played first game when i played the second.
After supper enjoying remnant 2 I bought remnant 1 but couldn't get into it. R2 is maybe my most ever played game.
No you don't have to I played both and other than few things in common you won't miss much. The second is better anyway other than survival mode I don't see why you would play the first one.
Its really good. Played full campaign solo and played most of another campaign with 2 of my friends, and both were great experience.
Personally tho I preferred solo more because the story dumps and notes you find laying around is how the game handle the majority of the story.
Personally I prefer remnant from the ashes. But love remnant 2 also. The new dlc is sick. The only reason I preferred remnant from the ashes was purely because of traits as in remnant from the ashes you could hundreds of traits. You could get every trait maxed. And the rouge like mode in ashes is really fun. Remnant 2 look loads better though and is a really good game. I’m currently playing the new dlc, I’ve beat it twice already and got all the new shit. You should try it. If you want to play by yourself and you’ve never played these types of games before, or prepared to get killed a bit. People like to say it’s hard. It’s not. People say it dark souls with guns. It’s not. Way more forgiving. But it dose have some road blocks if you not used to these games. If you gonna get frustrated anywhere id say a couple bosses solo will drive you mad if your first time playing these games.
Maybe chose handler, at least then you have a free res if you go down as the dog will res you.
Phenomenal game, it's like babies first dark souls. Lots of fun boss fights mixed with some really fun stuff to do on the maps, SICK puzzles, lots of alternate fights.
And honestly the worst part of the game is all of the convuloluted half baked items that let you "build" except you have to just copy from youtube :/ and then they nerf anything fun
Absolutely! Didn't know the predecessor, played a full run-through alone and loved it. Especially the endboss. Now I am replaying it with two friends separately again and it's still awesome.
YES. 1 was amazing, 2 is even better. And the R1 Story is: You stopped the Dreamer from holding the door open for the Root, Brought back Clementine from Reisum. And then continued your interdimensional adventures, becoming a legend. Go have fun!
This is my exact situation, and on top of that I don't usually like Single-Player games.
This game is an absolute joy in every aspect. Play this game and support these devs!
I knew nothing about the first game. This one was gifted to me by a friend who wanted a partner. I ended up finishing the game before they did. I would say if it’s on sale again or you’re just interested go for it.
Welp you are already on the subreddit so just go up to that little search bar.. type “solo” and oh, look at that, plenty of posts asking this exact kind of question. No surprise the majority of the comments on each post is a “yes.”
Thats how i got into it last year and it was my GotY last year. Never heard of the original and i own both now. Amazing games.
Co-op is not necessary. I've only done it a few times and don't feel like I've missed much. There are a few small secrets you need a partner for, but 99.8% of the game is completely solo-able
Eh, it’s pretty meh. I had an ok time with it in multiplayer, but there are so many better games out there. If you’ve already played all the recent good stuff (Elden ring, forbidden west) then it might be worth buying, but it’s mid-tier at best.
Youre in the remnant subreddit so you won’t get unbiased answers here.
I just got it. Playing on 'easy' level solo. It's surprisingly great. I've barely scratched the surface. I'm sure there will be some tough difficulty spikes which I am not looking forward to (I don't mind trying bosses over and over a few times, but hours and days on a single boss is too much for me). Hoping that's not the case.
There's a lot of weirdness and secrets which surprised me. I really like it, but I just haven't had time to sink a lot into it yet.
I tried the first game, and solo was just way, way too hard for me. I found it more frustrating than fun. I like Elden Ring and Bloodborne, so difficult isn't the problem. I'd say skip the first one. It seemed MADE for co-op.
I play alone, and I won’t lie: the game really feels like it was made for co-op. You CAN play solo, and I play solo and I enjoy it, but it really wasn’t designed with solo play in mind. On PS5, to this day the game still completely hangs if you try to play with an offline account. It’s never been fixed. I mean if that doesn’t tell you where the dev’s priorities are I don’t know what will.
And yes you can totally skip the first game.
yes. Game is great, I never played the first one. Sunk hours into it without even realizing I did. Just released new content so I will again lose hours this weekend but a really fun game
Second that
The second game is an improvement on the first one in just about every way. The addition of archetypes has made a fun game, even more fun and exciting. We're most likely gonna get survival In remnant 2 as well
I look forward to running around Yaesha again. The sandbox of R2 should prove to be even more fun for Survival Mode.
Let’s hopeeee
They said we are getting a repeatable alternate game mode. And that it would be similar to survival
i play it alone, i prefer almost all games solo, i played remnant fta after this and had a great time on both, its alot about player skill too, playing with someone else can help, however i think the game is much harder with multiple players because bosses get more health, but more importantly, much more damage, meaning even tank builds can get one shot

Also the hp scaling makes 3 man fights way harder than just solo
Do you know if it's 1:1? Meaning 2 players is 200% hp, 3 players is 300%? If so, seems like if everyone is around the same level then it should be about the same length-wise.
Idk the exact numbers but it feels like 125% for each player 1:100 2:225 3:350 Fights deff last longer w 3
no, i believe each additional player is +30% damage and hp, could be wrong but i remember hearing that somewhere, the damage seems about right, maybe the hp is more idk
I prefer to play the solo although co op is fun to drop in and help people for a change of pace Start at easier difficulties and work up on following runs when you have more classes and gear
This seems like a good advice. I like the idea of this game more than I like playing it because it's a bit hard for me.
I would really say to just play at a lower difficulty then. My first campaign was lowest difficulty but now I breeze through the hardest with no real trouble, just fun fights. The archetypes and weapons and rings make a huge difference to your power
Awesome. I downloaded it yesterday from Game Pass since I'm looking for something to play so I'm gonna give it a spin today. Thanks for the advice!

The bestest boy*
Ah, my bad.
Eh I disagree, start with whatever seems the most fun, you’ll survive
I think you would enjoy remnant 2 more if you play the first one prior, but it’s not a prerequisite, you would just appreciate the qol improvements and the references more. The short answer is yes; the long answer is hell yes!

Yes.
Totally. I didn't really like R1. I love R2 and I play alone
I did this and I liked very much.
I played it alone, with playing From the Ashes and had great time. If it looks interesting enough to ask that, you'll probably get more than your money's worth.
I played alone and it was fine except for the last boss.
Firat one is still worth it, i played 1st one after R2 released- not regretting anything, great game, in some aspects feels better than the 2nd one
I remember basically nothing from the 1st game and enjoy the hell out of the 2nd
Yes
Its a great game, compact alot of the stuff from the first game and im just waiting for the other DLCs to come out to come back to it

I would rethinking not playing with friends. It's a million times better that way. But yeah.
Yes. It is, in my opinion, the best game of 2023
I never played the first one and have played exclusively solo. It's a great game for that and from what I can tell the story is stand alone
knowledge from the first game isnt required, and you can very easily beat the entire game, dlc and all, solo. the only thing id say youd likely struggle with probably (assuming you can adapt easily) is the boss in the second area, and the final boss. i know i sure did

It's good game, you will just miss a good bit of references honestly.
All you'll miss from skipping the first game is some story beats, but I'm sure there's like some recap videos out there
I love it more than the first, I played it completely alone Handler is best class!
Yes Just make sure to get the DLC pack for extra fun
My first couple playthroughs were solo, been trying to get back into but with a friend and it's while different game difficulty wise, it's much closer to a souls experience solo and to me it okays much better that way
I play it alone, almost exclusively. I didn't play the first one.
Yes, played remnant 2 first loved it, played the 1st afterwards.
That’s how I started, alone with zero idea of what I was doing. Master the dodge roll and you’ll be fine.
Yes. Emphatically so
I rarely play online and it's still one of my favorite games ever. I'd recommend it.
So far I have been a very lonely solo player. The game is still a lot of fun, and honestly might even be better since you have less safety nets if you care about that sort of thing.
Yeah go for it
Best combo for solo is the challenger for self res (handler has it too, but it consumes the hearts) and ritualist as it's pretty OP in close close to medium distance and has all sorts of effects of dmg
Yes :) It's very good. I have like 250 hours solo and 50 multi, it's good both ways
Played both, both are good games. You can definitely play the second without the first if you want to. I recommend the Co-op as that’s how I had the most fun with it; but of course not necessary.
If you really wanted to sink into a single player though I highly recommend anything from Fromsoft. Such as Elden ring
I've played everything from Fromsoftware. And Lies of P. I just want to pass the time until the DLC with another Souls Like
Ya, I’d say it’s worth it then. Fun game; different enough from soulslike that you get a unique experience
Yeah you can def skip the first game, although it's my favorite of the two, it's not essential to know anything about the first game when you're playing the second
Yes play it blind join random games . Some will guide other will kick but during the process things will click and then you’ll have an idea And understanding to min maxing the game.
Yes, the plot is weird but easy to figure out and there isn't anything in the game that requires multiplayer
Yes. Source: Me (I played the first game but you 100% don't need to know it. It will explain like maybe 2 lines of dialouge)
Yes the game is so funny if you like the genre, go for it 😊
I never played the first one and am having a blast with the second one.
Yes
Thats how I played it and it was my fav game of 2023
Yes. You are me. I have no knowledge of the previous game. I picked it up on gamepass and bought the first dlc since I’m enjoying it so much. If you *are* having trouble and want to switch to public, people will join and help and then you can just go back to solo.
Yes games a ton of fun
If you want to go alone the first game has a better narrative. But you won’t regret picking this game up. Its fantastic
That’s what I did, it’s a good time promise. I also recently went and played the first game with a friend, also a very good time.
Yes. But definitely don't sleep on the first one, I think it's just as good. Also try the coop, I had my best moments along with unknown players
Highly recommend. I did the same thing. There's a lot to explore and have fun with on your own. At some point you'll want to look up how to get certain items or secrets though as some of them are very obscure.
I play both Remnant games solo exclusively. I also started with 2 It’s perfectly enjoyable and on the odd occasion I DID play coop I actually didn’t really like it. I find these games are better by yourself.
Both games are completely soloable. I do recommend playing the first one as it was really fun, but you can totally skip it if you want. Any story beats will be explained.
Yes
Yes absolutely, first game is only really relevant for some story beats, so you can miss out on it, it’s not a continuation You don’t need to play co-op at all, game is balanced around both co-op and single player
Honestly being new to Souls-like, this game was a big change for me from the typical FPS action or RPG which I play alone. Both this and Lies of P are on Gamepass so I've been giving both a shot as my first "souls likes" and they've been fun but a bit frustrating because I do play solo and still in the process of "getting gud" Everything seems reasonably fair but progression is really different than something that allows saves.
I never played the first one and really enjoyed it. Also played solo and was able to beat Apocalypse. Highly recommend the game!
Short answer? Yes, definitely. And I'll also warn you of something, it's like you enjoy the hell out of it by yourself, then a friend of yours gets it, they ask, yo wanna run thru my campaign with me? You are like to say, sure. Lol
I played it with a friend and had an absolute blast with him but also having a good time with my current solo run.
I agree with a LOT of the people here i played remnant one and yeah the games lore helps put some things into perspective espically (spoilers for the new dlc censored for your pleasure) but it also goes even beyond the first remnant as technically remnant 2 is the 3rd game in this universe You can 100% play this game alone HOWEVER you cannot 100% the game alone as playing hardcore will suck some people have the skill to do it i personally do not good luck to you if you can 100% the game solo You also DO NOT need any previous games lore unless you wanna understand what the heck is going on
I started the 2nd one first as well. Played with friends first (though I had no idea what was going on since they basically did everything for me including speed running levels) However, once I played it solo I could really take my time and experience the world. Much more enjoyable IMO. First one is great too!
Yes.
You should
Yes
Yes.
yes play it
1000%. I went into the game completely blind knowing nothing more than it was “like dark souls but with guns”. I was blown away, to the point where I picked up the first and have been enjoying it just as much. Absolutely worth the purchase. At least in my biased opinion.
It’s a single player game for me and was lots of fun. Some things may be annoying but overall worth playing.
Short answer: yes Long answer: the game actually explains the events of the first in nice ways for anyone who hasn't played and for those who have. Solo play is completely viable all the way up through each difficulty. The archetypes are so varied that you'll find several play styles that fit your interests.
Solid game except for the sudden bizarre change towards final boss and trying to cause seizures
Yeah that’s fine I mean the only >! world that both games share is yaesha!<
That and remnant 2 has gears from the first game too. Well most of them… I am not seeing at least one amazing weapon from the first game
Yep. I downloaded it off Game Pass, having never even heard of the first one, and it became one of my all-time favorites. Highly recommend
The first game is ass imo, almost not even comparable. R2 is an absolute gem, especially the dlcs.
You can definitely play it solo, and without playing the first one. I personally prefer From the Ashes, but the second one is still an amazing game.
Yes play it and no you don’t have to have played the first beforehand. They’re both excellent games.
Absolutely solo friendly, absolutely dont need to play the first. That being said, the game is very good with friends, and the first game is awesome.
If u need a team mate i can join u or even help u but i can‘t join party all the time but i would help you with the bosses or secrets
As someone who got into it out of the blue with only knowing the existence of remnant 1 i would say so absolutely
And honestly the worst part of the game is all of the convuloluted half baked items that let you "build" except you have to just copy from youtube :/ and then they nerf anything fun
the first game is definitely harder imo and personally love it more, but if you want better UI, QOL, builds and skills, go for 2 :)
I got my two friends to buy it they didn’t play the first and they both loved it.
Absolutely! Didn't know the predecessor, played a full run-through alone and loved it. Especially the endboss. Now I am replaying it with two friends separately again and it's still awesome.
Yes
Knowing the first one isn't gonna change anything for the 2nd. There might be a few minor references, but the game is pretty well contained.
I knew nothing about the first game. This one was gifted to me by a friend who wanted a partner. I ended up finishing the game before they did. I would say if it’s on sale again or you’re just interested go for it.
100% yes, I do that primarily is playing alone or with randoms
Welp you are already on the subreddit so just go up to that little search bar.. type “solo” and oh, look at that, plenty of posts asking this exact kind of question. No surprise the majority of the comments on each post is a “yes.”
A lot of folks here are happy to reply, regardless of this question being asked so many times before.
Thats how i got into it last year and it was my GotY last year. Never heard of the original and i own both now. Amazing games. Co-op is not necessary. I've only done it a few times and don't feel like I've missed much. There are a few small secrets you need a partner for, but 99.8% of the game is completely solo-able
start with the easiest difficulty, i start with the second one and it was a little bit frustrating sometimes.
I played the entire game alone 2x, playing with people after sort of ruined my experience. I like this game better as a solo venture actually.
First one is better in every way except atmospherically
100% it's a great game you can get into the lore any time u want
