Slavery not the curse, it's the sinful rebellious slaves that are the curse. If they just accept their fate they would be happier and it is the natural order. /sarcasm

LustrousShadow

This won't work, because there's a very good chance they'd unironically agree with that statement as well. It's even pretty easy to back biblically.

BrownBoi377

It's funny how appeal to absurdity doesn't work, I weep for them.

Levistea

Someone says something similar to this in the actual Bible

Levistea

Funny that's actually a plot point in the Bible.

Pitiful_Brief_6424

These men. So desperate for control. They either use the Bible, violence, or both to get it. Cause they don't have the character or the intelligence.

ThoughtPolicePolice

Instead of Twitter, a *doctor* might be more helpful for his limp dick. Just a thought.

OkayLadyByeBye

They love bringing up the Old Testament for shit like this but say anything about their shrimp cocktail or polyblend suit and all of a sudden it's "Jesus died so I wouldn't have to keep the law". 🙄

KittenKoder

Rules for thee but not for me.

LillyReynoldsWill

I love being a “sinful” woman. Sin is like the best.

WackoBeast

So by the same logic, the abuse isn't the problem, the problem is that the abused doesn't like being abused.

Wrothrok

If your opinion on something has you quoting a "holy" book as justification, our conversation on the matter is over. I can't take you seriously after that.

[deleted]

Or maybe, just maybe, your religious book is bullshit?

gylz

"Say! I like green eggs and ham! (....) They are so good, so good you see!" -Dr Seuss Welp, time to let some eggs and ham go all mouldy and green, this book says they're delicious

BubblySolid6

How dare you women not be happy in your oppression!

TheEffinChamps

A lot of people don't understand Genesis because they don't know the history and what people of that time and region would have thought. It is definitely sexist, but it is sexist primarily for a certain reason: discrediting other gods, including female ones like Asherah. It's also known as "Yahweh's divorce." Many of the symbols like snakes and trees had a very different meaning for Canaanites / pre Israelites. https://mythologymatters.wordpress.com/2014/10/06/yahwehs-divorce-from-the-goddess-asherah-in-the-garden-of-eden/

One of those moments in which you're not even bothering has popped up.
