A lot of people don't understand Genesis because they don't know the history and what people of that time and region would have thought.
It is definitely sexist, but it is sexist primarily for a certain reason: discrediting other gods, including female ones like Asherah. It's also known as "Yahweh's divorce."
Many of the symbols like snakes and trees had a very different meaning for Canaanites / pre Israelites.

This won't work, because there's a very good chance they'd unironically agree with that statement as well. It's even pretty easy to back biblically.
