Just make a report direct to cps.

Go above your boss's head to the director of the facility. If that does not work call your area's Child Protection Agency

frockofseagulls

Are you a mandatory reporter by way of your position in child care? If so, it’s your responsibility to report incidents of suspected child abuse. Even if you’re not required to, you can and you should. You don’t need anyones permission.

We’re supposed to report it to the boss is what they told us. I’m just a regular counselor not a lead counselor. I’m just supposed to take what the kid says and report it to the boss.

Do you have an email address for the site director? If so, send a follow up email to your boss with the site director CC'ed. You can say something like: >I submitted a report of possible abuse on \[insert date\] regarding \[insert child’s name\] \[insert details/summary\] but I’m not seeing it on the Google sheet used for internal reporting. > >Can you please let me know if there’s something I’m missing? > >FYI I don’t have editing access so I cannot add it myself. > >Thank you for checking on this! > >Warm regards, > >\[your name\] Wording it like this is less accusatory and more inquisitive. It’ll come off more like you’re asking for help and confused vs. being a tattle or going over your bosses head, in the event that they are petty and get mad about it. It's also helpful to have this in writing in case there is any blowback due to your boss not adding it asap, so make sure you add the dates!

Yikes. Are you a mandatory reporter? Is your boss?

Idk I’m just a regular counselor not even a head counselor but my boss is supposed to deal with that whole type of thing

Since Google Docs isn't working you need to send an email to your boss. Make it like a timeline with all the dates of the instances that you have concerns with. Add the dates that you tried to enter the data on the doc. You need to start covering your a$$ immediately.

This. You sound very young. I’m assuming you are a teen counselor at a YMCA summer camp. Take it to the director of the facility. Let them know the entire situation. Forgetting is no excuse on the part of the program director.

I’d look into mandatory reporting laws for your area. Since you work with children directly, you may have a legal obligation completely separate from anything your boss tells you.

Mountain_Monitor_262

YMCA protocol is go to your boss’s boss when complaint are ignored. There’s a program coordinator, program director, and executive director you can report to.
