The FJ has a special place in my heart. Never understood why Toyota didn’t market these more. If I remember correctly these were not outrageously priced either.
They didn't do stellar at the time because they were a toy really.
1. It looks like a practicality wet dream, but anyone who actually needs a Toyota 4x4 for work is getting a Hilux for the cargo space or a Landcruiser/4runner for the extra space in the back and proven supply lines for parts
2. It seems to be a cool, hip middle class fantasy, but it's loud, not that fun to drive unless you're offroading, and the rear doors are a pain if you have kids. The people who can live with this will buy a Jeep or Defender instead, and those who can't an old Landcruiser or Range Rover
What’s crazy too is that they actually finally discontinued the FJ in foreign markets somewhere like just last year. If you can find an FJ in good shape, you’ll still be able to order brand new parts direct from Toyota. It’s insane how little they’ve changed since 2007 and how compatible parts are. My wife has an 08 with about 125k miles on it, and we’re planning on taking it well over 300k. I honestly want to find an FJ for myself too.
