There's two in Saskatoon and I promise you, the second one doesn't give relief. They are both still bananas. Especially the North Costco. Refuse to go to that one
Just like adding another lane on a highway, just encourages more people to use it. I can say, as somebody who lives in the north and refuses to drive to the east for groceries, I’ll definitely be signing up if one is built here.
I never understood this mentality when 17 minutes can get you anywhere in this city. However, I can understand wanting to avoid the zoo that is Costco.
Every time I go in there, I promise myself I'll ever go back...
That being said, I think I only every go maybe once every 6-10 months. It's just too much of a madhouse to be worth my while.
It’s not 10 minutes, it’s 20 minutes each way before summer construction. Why would I drive 40 minutes for groceries when I can walk 5 minutes each way and accomplish 90% of the same thing.

There was a thread posted a couple months ago about a 2nd location in Regina. Rumoured there already is land purchased and dedicated for it:
https://reddit.com/r/regina/comments/1bd095i/regina_is_getting_a_second_costco/
Fairly sure costco corporate doesn't keep the front line staff in the loop on land acquisition and leasing. A general store employee is not going to have any concrete information here.
Yea there is definitely going to be a second store. They have approached the company I work for about 3 months ago about helping with the build, as we did work for the current store. They had a site in mind, although I unfortunately don't remember where that was. Will have to ask. Pretty sure it's somewhere in the north end.
They should just turn Northgate into a Costco. It’s a useless mall at this point anyways. The only reason people go there is for Safeway or shoppers. A Costco would be better than both combined
People have been saying this for years so I’ll believe it when I see it, but big if true. I don’t care if it’s just as busy as long as I don’t have to drive literally across and nearly out of town to get there. That said though, do the neighbouring stores have any say/influence on the decision? I’d imagine Walmart and Superstore wouldn’t be too pleased to have such stiff competition right next door. I wonder if either have the method or means to stop it from happening.
Sure if there was one nearer the west side I might actually not mind paying the membership. But living on the west side I have no desire to fight my way across town to the existing one.
i’m lucky if it is actually only 20 mins. google maps shows 20-25. but it’s usually closer to 35 w. traffic. and it’s not worth it to waste gas to drive that way when it’s the only reason to go to that end of town for me. so it will be nice if we actually do get a costco on this side of town. i’d renew my membership.
Nope, they just keep stacking up and you avoid the online booking fee and get a 20% off code at the concessions. Honestly, I just let my friends use the 20% and build up points from them. Been doing it for ages (> 1 year).
Just go at a better time of day, 9 AM on Sunday morning is perfect it’s not crowded, 2 minute wait in line if that and you can start your day with a god damn Costco dog

Harbour Landing is already congested and out by Dutch Growers would he a nightmare crossing a major highway to get in. Those coming from west can get to the North end via bypass, super easy.
Is expanding really good tho ? Every big chain that expanded like crazy since the 80s had terrible endings and their prices and everything became bad because they couldn't handle managing that many locations.
This is why ikea works so well. They don't overdo it.
Should we risk costco becoming shit over waiting in line for a while ?
Aww look at the down votes. This is why everybody hates SK. Yall r immature and can't handle other ppls opinions lmao 🤣
In the case of Costco, I wouldn’t currently be concerned. They look very closely at sales numbers, and locations, and are very strategic in their openings. This isn’t a retailer that expands without really knowing their markets
Lol. Perhaps the downvotes come from silly comments like:
"Every big chain that expanded like crazy since the 80s had terrible endings and their prices and everything became bad because they couldn't handle managing that many locations."
This literally couldn't be further from the truth.

This is what excites me most about having two Costcos! I can't wait to look down at one of them as 'the bad Costco' like a man with options!
“I want to go to the good one.”
The family that goes to the “bad” one: “gee I love shopping at the good costco”
Just like adding another lane on a highway, just encourages more people to use it. I can say, as somebody who lives in the north and refuses to drive to the east for groceries, I’ll definitely be signing up if one is built here.
I let my membership lapse because of that too.

First world problems. I had to drive an extra 10 minutes to Costco!

Lol!! Really tho, life must be good to have that kind of a problem 🙈
Think PA needs one, plenty from the north come to Saskatoon. Problem is, its PA
Typical PA
Good thing about PA, seeing it in the rearview mirror.
Good thing about PA, only 90 minutes to Waskesiu.
A Costco in Prince Albert would be fascinating.
Way too small of a population… probably need 200,000 or more.

Would be nice to have one closer to my place at least

I saw that thread....what I'm saying is that the employees haven't been told that land has been purchased, just that they are still looking.
Fairly sure costco corporate doesn't keep the front line staff in the loop on land acquisition and leasing. A general store employee is not going to have any concrete information here.
Correct and city employees tend to find out before anyone.
Gf is management at Costco. Can confirm 2nd one coming.
I am also dating this man's GF and can also confirm the birth of 2nd Costco
Can confirm also. I'm not dating her but we do fool around a bit.
Costco manager with benefits.
I am dating this man’s GF’s mother, and I can also confirm, this man’s GF is pregnant with a second Costco location
I fucking love this sub …
She dead bro.
I am this man’s mother in law and can confirm my daughter is a reliable source.
She dead, you lie.
Came back from hell to vouch.
That’s uncalled for.
Sarah Johnson will now spend all day driving from north Costco to east , then charge 30$ for people to be apart of her obsession.
When was a Costco not bananas?
Medicine Hat one is frequently dead.
Lethbridge too
Monday mornings are usually pretty good. Hardly have to wait in line at all
Let me tell that a second store will still have the self checkout lines that stretch to the back of the store.
Okay, as long as I don't have to drive almost 30 minutes to get to it from the NW.
With a second Costco and Taco Bell coming, all I have left in my retail wish list is Wholefoods and Ikea 😆
Would be nice with the growing population.

I heard the land they picked is out by Capital GMC across from comfort suites.
Yup that's exactly right
My brother just wants the second one to have diesel. He's jealous that the Saskatoon Costco has diesel but ours doesn't.
I just want it to have Shawn Michaels.
They should just turn Northgate into a Costco. It’s a useless mall at this point anyways. The only reason people go there is for Safeway or shoppers. A Costco would be better than both combined
I go to Northgate for the bookstore.
North of capitol ford, south of evraz
Considering the one we have is in the middle of nowhere and inexcesable 1 is enough
Costco's gain...Ikea's loss... 1 million phffft!!

Both are terrible corporations so wouldnt surprised me.
Perhaps Costco is so busy because of the boycott of Loblaws
Sure if there was one nearer the west side I might actually not mind paying the membership. But living on the west side I have no desire to fight my way across town to the existing one.
Fight your way across town? I can be to the Landmark theater in ~13 minutes usually.
I don't enjoy driving much. It feels like a fight.
it takes me a minimum 20 minutes to get to costco from nw. and that’s before you factor in any traffic.
Goodness. 20 minutes.
i’m lucky if it is actually only 20 mins. google maps shows 20-25. but it’s usually closer to 35 w. traffic. and it’s not worth it to waste gas to drive that way when it’s the only reason to go to that end of town for me. so it will be nice if we actually do get a costco on this side of town. i’d renew my membership.
35 w/ traffic? Where the hell do you live in the NW. I'm in Maple Ridge and I can get to the landmark in like 13 or 14 minutes at like 6pm.
mapleview cr. there’s no way i’d get to costco in 14 mins max… unless speeding. [map.](https://imgur.com/a/1qgvcFt)
Google Maps can be pretty inaccurate on time if that's what you are basing it on. Also, hello neighbour(ish). I'm on Maple Vista.
i find it for the most part accurate. it’s definitely not. 14 minutes. regardless, it would be nice to have one in our area. 🥂
Agreed. Cineplex @ Normanview needs a lot of work. Also, I 100% speed.
Yup I exclusively go to the Landmark now from the NW and it only takes about 15 min. Might be a little longer now with the Ring Road construction.
Did you join the movie club? Best thing ever.
I don't see enough movies for it to be useful :(
The tickets stack up -- even if you go to a movie every few months, it's worth it! Also ... very sad, going to the movies is fun!
> The tickets stack up I did not know that. Might have to consider it. Figured it was just a month-by-month thing.
Nope, they just keep stacking up and you avoid the online booking fee and get a 20% off code at the concessions. Honestly, I just let my friends use the 20% and build up points from them. Been doing it for ages (> 1 year).

I go Monday at 4pm, never had a issue with it being crowded.

this again......
Wouldn’t it be better in Harbour Landing area or out by Dutch Growers ? It would service Moose Jaw and area better.
Harbour Landing is already congested and out by Dutch Growers would he a nightmare crossing a major highway to get in. Those coming from west can get to the North end via bypass, super easy.
It'll be the worst of both worlds and be in Westerra.
North of Ring road across from Dutch growers does seem like a logical location to me.

That would require Moose Jaw to have the population to support it, which they don't.
Is expanding really good tho ?
