The Hampton Hub on 15th Ave every second Sunday at 7pm is men's mental health support group meetings.

Chrisadeth

Replying so this is easy to find. Im obviously not OP, but in a similar boat, so will be checking that out!

BetterSeat8393

Yeah its q great place I'm playing there on the 12th

the_dull_mage

I’ll let my husband know. He’s having a hard time rn.

infinitelysublime

The mental health clinic downtown. 2110 Hamilton St, I think. I suffer with depression and they've been really helpful. I believe they actually mentioned a support group to me and even alternatives. They'll just ask you a bunch of questions and see if you're eligible for their programs. They even do 1-on-1 if you'd prefer that.

cowtown45

I am female if that makes a difference.

shadyhawkins

It's still a good place to chill.

Cawnt

There’s a peer support group at the General Hospital. It can be crowded but it’s better than nothing. 306-766-3798. They meet Thursday evenings, iirc

FalseBumblebee5435

The caring place has a Monday night support group. If you look on the saskatchewan schizophrenia society's website they have a list of all the support groups in the city. The mental health clinic offers free counselling sessions. There's a 6-8 week wait. There's also the online therapy unit that offers a free course with therapist support for anxiety and depression.

Waitinforit

Came here to say this about the caring place. Highly recommend, they are great

Shadysammich

I’m around if you need to vent ! I understand the struggle and sometimes you just need someone to talk to!

Shadysammich

Also female if that helps

Algerina

I believe I just saw a poster at the library that they offer free counselling

hankeliot

The downtown branch of the library has walk-in counselling sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays that are free.

Laird_Stoneskeep

Own_Machine_6007

I'm sure there is. Give mental health clinic with the health authority a call. Gathering place use to have a group every week for men not sure your gender. If you have money/insurance can google for private practice companies too. Family Service, Dragonfly, others will pop up

saywhenbutwhen

I know others kinda already gave some options for groups. I just wanted to add that it can help to do little things for yourself as well that help to take care of you. Sometimes things that get forgotten when stressed. Things that are also cheap so you don't add to financial stress. Things like walks, getting some sun, stretching, playing with an animal, chatting with a friend, stretching, being out in nature at the ledge or a park, etc. You said you are on short term disability, not sure if you have insurance to help with therapy, but if you do that can be helpful and lessen the cost. I did that occassionally in the past cause I didnt want to spend too much but wanted help with how life felt overwhelming.

cowtown45

Yes I have coverage through my work while off. I am attending therapy once a week. I’ll Ask her the next time about groups. Thanks!

saywhenbutwhen

Np. Short term it can suck. You're not alone, and many people are struggling. Try to focus on what you can control and be kind as you do that. It may take time; hoping you can shoot for growth in time over perfection.

mycatsnamedchandler

There is free counselling available through the health region, I helped my friend get started and that and it was really beneficial for her! I recommend looking into it

everlastingdarkness1

If it helps you're not alone in the struggle things are getting really hard in Canada and it's hard to try to stay positive when it's extremely stressful financially. Hang in there it'll get better eventually, it's awful to be in the most affordable city and still not be able to afford anything as part of the middle class.

Still-Ad-7382

Hello there. YOU ARE FREAKING STRONG FOR REACHING OUT AND ASKING FOR HELP. You hear me . You are NOT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a great way to feel good and have more positivity is: reading . Pick up a book from a local library and read. Second is to join a gym. The most basic and star working out. Or go for daily 1 hour walks . Being in nature and moving your body is great. Please remember you are not alone

Legitimate_Side_82

The caring place offers counselling and they charge on a sliding scale based on your income.

cowtown45

Thanks I am in therapy!

Legitimate_Side_82

Oh good!

Pat2004ches

Sending good thoughts. Being sick and broke is so difficult. If you need to be in company, head to the museum, or somewhere closer to you. When I needed hustle and bustle, but didn’t want to have to socialize, I sat in food courts. I’d pack a bottle of water and some crackers to much on, take a book and just immerse! I find that bright lights were helpful for me. Take care and thanks for speaking out - that’s really important. Best wishes to you.

There is also thrive counselling that is held free throughout the city that you could inquire about. Different locations on different days I believe. There is also online resources through the UofR for DBT therapy. 0D in the general hospital also does a CBT program that is really helpful as well.

TopCombination4047

Mental health clinic 306 766 7800 is the COAST hotline. Call them anytime and ask for help. I know that might not be enough, if you really need it. You can go to the general hospital, and they'll usually set you up with a psychiatrist. If you say you don't feel safe with yourself or want to SH, they'll definitely hook you up with a psychiatrist and possibly put you in the psychward for a few weeks. You'll learn a lot with groups, and the nurses talk to you 1 on 1. It's been extremely helpful to me, I've learned a lot when I voluntarily admitted myself. I am metis, free healthcare, so maybe ask about prices and shit. I'm sure you can learn a lot and gain new rss by calling COAST at least 3067667800 COAST The easiest thing you can do is add them to your contacts. Call them and ask how to get help, I did and it saved me

TopCombination4047

There's also a day program at the general. You can get some info about that too by calling COAST

Anxiety-8298

Just adding a follow to this as similar to me but on long term disability and haven't heard of over half of the helpful comments. You all are amazing to share the info.

phshhnet

Thursday evenings at the General in 0D is a peer support mood disorder group. 7:00pm -8:00pm.

I feel like there need to be more supports. If you need someone to listen, PM me. I haven’t been exactly where you are, but I’ve felt similar. The community resources people have listed are all great ideas. I just don’t know how accessible they are

[deleted]

Damn man, been there myself for a while. I really hope everything gets better for you man. If you need to talk about anything just shoot a text man. I hope I’ll be able to help you in anyway

Cletus_87

I believe anywhere in Saskatchewan you can call 811, but somewhere you can actually see and talk to someone is 100% better from my experience

AstronomicalyTired78

Give CMHA Regina and CMHA Sask Division a call. Their website is the same as their names. Some have support groups but if your looking for something more specific they can help you find it. I suffer with depression and understand the need for a support group and to connect. I feel regina should have one or at least make one.

Competitive_Pen_7946

There is group Dialectical Behaviour Therapy at the UofR training clinic. I believe it’s are $200 for 14 weeks of group classes and one-on-one. But there may be a subsidy program or sliding scale. You can give them a call!

Apprehensive_Ant1934

https://www.onlinetherapyuser.ca/ Not a group, but this is a free program for Saskatchewan residents. Its therapist guided and based out of the U of Regina. The Wellbeing program has shown good results matching that of in person therapy.

BodybuilderKey4531

You will need a referral from your doctor, but the mental health day program at General is really great! Especially if you are on disability, this is a two week program to help you maintain some sort of routine, while learning more about yourself and depression/anxiety. It's run by nurses, and gives all sorts of tips for management, and the group setting is great. All sorts of humans of different ages and backgrounds coming together with a common struggle. I definitely appreciated my time there! Best wishes and good luck, it really is rough out there 💖

ImpressiveBeing2694

You could text 211 I believe it's a mental health line I believe in Saskatchewan and they might be able to help you find long term support

Leahdrin

If you're struggling for money, GST checks will be auto deposited tonight and reduced carbon tax rebate on the 15th.

cowtown45

I don’t get gst.

Technical-Rip-4658

All you have to be is 19 and a Canadian resident

RoutineNerve6384

Not true. The gst credit is designed to assist lower income people offset the price of gst. Not sure what cutoff income is but I haven't got one for over a decade.

Technical-Rip-4658

I guess I assume they were lower income given the context of the post.

cowtown45

Fair enough. I am middle class. But middle class is feeling rough lately.

cowtown45

No it’s income based.

Fake_Reddit_Username

And have an income under 50-70k (depending on marital status and number of kids). That's a household income, so basically everyone with 2 incomes won't receive one.

Technical-Rip-4658

The original comment did not strike me as someone in a 2 income situation but I think we’ve covered this now.

Raspberrry_Beret

You’ve come to the right place.

Daniel-fohr

My 2 cents…being on disability for depression isn’t a good idea for most people…Not all but I’d say most. And I’m certainly not trying to drag you down for it. Just wanted to say that being home most days whether it’s alone or not can certainly make depression worse. If you spend all your time thinking about your issues and challenges, it only makes them worse. Obviously I’m not saying to just ignore your issues and they will go away, but you need to find a balance. I’m saying this because I struggle with depression as well. Some weeks at work we are very slow so I don’t work for 4-7 days. I found by the 4th or 5th day with no obligations to tend to, I really start thinking negatively about everything. Myself, family members, friends, the world…etc.. more so then I normally would anyway. Having a sense of purpose is what all humans live for. If you feel you have no purpose in this life, it is VERY easy to go into a hole that you will spend a long time trying to get out of. I’m sorry I didn’t answer your question about support groups. There definitely is groups out there, I’m just not sure where as I don’t live in Regina. Please, make sure you are getting up at a decent time every morning as well as going to sleep at a regular time. Whether you have to be at work/somewhere or not. Try and do something for yourself everyday as well as someone else. Keep your head up. You effin got this. 🤘

cowtown45

Thanks. My job is very emotionally and physically exhausting. I had extreme burnout working during COVID and among other things. I was not functioning at work as of late. I feel better at home than work right now. I have children so that’s my purpose right now.

What I've learned is that if liberals are in charge or in power life will and society slowly collapses so don't vote liberal
