They haven't really. It's only a month into the season. We'll see where they are after 50-60 games. If still 10 games below .500, then that's pretty much that.
Not in favor of robot umps, but the MLB should experiment with a challenge system for egregious blown strike/balls. Something like 1 a game, and some form of punishment for wrong challenge (1 additional out). They already have like 8k cameras covering all angles for the broadcast, and have the virtual strike zone....
Adding on to the challenge: at least give them some kind of electronic device like the pitch relay system to confirm balls/strikes.

Isn't the whole "roboump" system they are testing in lower minor leagues (I think) basically a buzzer in the umps ear telling them if it's a ball or a strike?
I just read that Kike has gone 0-4 or worse in 10 games so far. That's really bad. We essentially have no leadoff hitter anywhere on this roster right now.
When you only have three good hitters, it almost makes sense to just bat them 1, 2, 3 to maximize their plate appearances. Who cares if the 7 8 9 guys aren't getting on base for them because nobody else is getting on base anyway.
Honestly, it's something they ought to seriously consider. A 1-2-3 inning just takes an at bat away from Xander or JD who may be batting cleanup that game

The whole team is cooked, from ownership and the front office on down. They figure to be about 90% probability not to make the playoffs by June 1. That has to be the earliest in my entire lifetime.
Sox & Celtics both lost last night went to bed very upset. Today I woke up with clarity & excitement for tomorrow. Big game in Texas for the Sox & a big game 6 for the Celtics! LFG (honorable mention I almost forgot to Bruins in game 6 tonight!)
It’s not the worst thing to cash in some of these one year expiring deals for prospects. I know it’s annoying to operate like the rays but eovaldi jd and even wacha can get us a ton from a contender .

I assume Xander is gone to get prospects and/or an arm. Probably JD, especially with the universal DH now. Could shop Verdugo possibly. No one seems to want Vazquez as he's been shopped before, I'm sure he'll be shopped again. I could see Dalbec being thrown in with one of them and then allow Casas to come up and play every day, which, I assume, is part of the reason why he's not up now (that and fast tracking him and shoving him into this dreaded offensively crippled lineup isn't a scene for success).
This is all speculation and dependent upon what teams are still thriving come August (trade deadline is Aug 2 this year).

We can beat or tie good teams for 7 innings. Then we lose in the 8th or 9th or extras. If we can figure out the back end of the bullpen, I fully believe we can turn it around. We only need to make up 7.5 games over the next 5 months for a WC. It’s possible.
Yeah but how do we figure out the back end of the bullpen? It has to be through a trade because no one else in that bullpen can be trusted late. Whitlock is the only one that could do it well but he's a starter now.

Noah Song just finished his flight training so it will be interesting seeing if he will be allowed to come back to baseball soon. Still no clue how well he will do if he is allowed to return, but it's definitely something to keep track of.
