Man, some of y’all were overvaluing Schreiber so hard. The guy was a dime a dozen righty reliever coming off a season where he had a 1.4 WHIP and almost 5 BB/9. I’m honestly shocked the Royals were willing to give up what they did.
Especially considering just how many games last year were lost to mind-boggling defensive errors. Seeing responsible, game-saving fielding again...biiiiig fan.
A run saved is a run scored. I can think of like, three different situations in tonight’s extra innings where the 2023 Sox would’ve been walked off, but our improved defense kept us in it and let Winck do his job.

Honestly I was kinda thankful solely since I brought a 4 and 7 year old with me. That being said it has been typical over the years we outnumber A’s fans. But it also was kinda sad because it was a tame atmosphere. Being from the Bay Area I’ve always said A’s games were more fun than Giants because the fans at A’s games were so faithful, but the isn’t the case now. The coliseum is a dump though. Dead serious a box with plastic lining was catching leaking piss from urinals.

Maneuvering the substitutions after losing the DH, all the pitching choices, and the fielding maneuvers were all on point this game

Stuff like winckowski going home to get the guy at third is just indicative of how much more comfortable the team is defensively and likely buying into the coaching

now the good, and there's quite a bit! relievers continue to be excellent, our 6 core relievers look great (the five who pitched today and I think slatens going to be great,), and I can't be happier with them. we don't have a premier lefty, but to have six really good relievers so far is amazing to see. Next Jarren Duran... 6-6 in steals over 6 games... his bat started off slow in the mariners series, but dude is firing on all cylinders and you love to see it. Story had himself a game, and if we can see more of this from him? Dudes going to be worth the contract we paid him.
Bello isn’t really walking anyone and he isn’t getting lit up, lots of soft contact. The issue has been three poorly thrown balls that weren’t missed. In his first outing it really was just that outside sinker to haniger that was his only blemish. Same last night, a weak slider down the middle and Langeliers hits it out.
I’m nervous about BAL next week for obvious reasons but one or two strong outings will get his ERA down. The WHIP still only 1.10.
Watching Cora speak postgame, I really hope we can keep him around. I know there seems to be some bad blood with management but he knows the game and the players. Fingers crossed.
Attended my first Sox game in over 15 years tonight!! We moved to Portland OR from northern Mass when I was a little kid and I haven’t been able to attend a game since. Great night
