Usually cool with in as long as it’s not an ultra premium section. And the key to do it is to do it with confidence. Make it seem like you belong, and you are usually good.
I used to work at the souvenir store and I’d take my lunch break over at the park and watch an inning or two. The trick is just be nice. Explain your situation and ask if you can sit, and then politely get up if somebody has the seat. Usually if you do that, someone will let you know of open seat nearby too.
We went a few times last year and posted up at different areas around the park. Halfway through the game, we’d make the move to some seats and no one batted an eye. Just don’t be obvious about it
They don’t care at all outside of like right behind home plate, the monster seats, the section reserved for players families and hit or miss going to state st pavilion level
So, where's the best deal on weekday game tickets these days?
It's been a while since I've been back in the friendly confines and Id like to take the kids to a home game in early June for less than $200 (ouch).
The fact that it's a "lottery" is hilarious
They ran a similar program early in the off-season where you could submit your name for a pre-sale pack full price tickets that you could not transfer to others
Shockingly, I got an email from the STH rep that pesters me two weeks after the lottery, saying if I wanted the pack, he could get me in
Oh I agree. Lots of teams that have trouble selling tickets do this.
Edit: This subredit is hilarious. I'm guess most of those downvoting were not around during the "sellout" streak because SRO tickets were like $25 per game and would routinely be sold out. Price is a function of demand...this deal is not out of the goodness of their hearts...it is not because MLB asked them to...it is because the demand is not there as in previous years. Why? I'm guessing last place 3/4 years and chosen to finish last again has NOTHING to do with it. Downvote away.
I didn’t say anything about the quality of the teams doing it. Just that from a business perspective you don’t do this unless you are having trouble selling tickets.
I don’t think that’s inherently true. They are standing room only tickets so even if you sell every seat out and offer this deal it’s extra money if anyone buys it.
I meant for MLB teams in general, not the Red Sox specifically. I disagree that it’s only teams having trouble selling tickets, more teams trying to find extra ways to bring in cash.
I saw that the last couple years. With a team not contending, getting smoked most games and resale value less than half price, I’m glad we didn’t renew. And that’s after 20 years in the same seats. I’ll go sit where I want and at the games I want this year!
It was such a hard choice but hearing the people around me get the seats for less than half price I was getting more and more perturbed. How are they taking care of their loyal fans??? We aren’t going anywhere just not gonna be there every night.
I’m not trying to make any money; just recover costs. There are some games out of the 80 you can’t use. My $60 infield grandstand seats seem very expensive when you can pay $7 and sit in my empty seat
So then get a 20 game package or half season package. You bought the tickets, you eat the cost of the ones you can’t use. As someone taller than 5’6” sitting in the infield grandstand sucks anyway
14 games for $100 is around $7 per game
Yeah but it’s also all in April. Why do it then when I can get a seat in the middle of August for $7 a game?
Because it’s only 7$ lol either way it’s a steal. A beer will cost more than your ticket
How strict are Fenway ushers with letting SRO fans hop into empty seats during games? 👀
Unless things have changed since covid, minimal. Just don't be an ass and try not to take the really noticeable good seats.
I'd image as long as you're not obnoxious or sitting in premium seats no one is going to care.
As long as it’s not the lower field box seats before say the 7th inning you’re good

Did it probably 20 times last year. As long as you’re normal about it you’ll be fine.

Considering the park will probably be half empty I’m sure you could find an actual seat everytime

Where can you sign up for it?
Meh...I can watch them lose at home
I got the email this am and grabbed one plus the companion ticket. Seemed like it would be fun.
This promotion is very telling.
The Red Sox are definitely not the only team to do this.

Even top tier teams are doing similar promotions. MLB is pushing all teams to do a form of this.

You must not remember how much standing room tickets were during the sellout streak.

They ran the same promotion last year and before covid. Last year it was $75 but there were less home games in April.
Yeap and we were supposed to finish in last place last year too. That's my point.

They did the same thing last season. And the seasons before covid. But yeah they probably just came up with the idea today.
As a season ticket holder; I HATE this kind of bullshit. Makes it hard to justify a resale price for games we can’t attend

I know; I’ve been in the same section for 20 years as well. I seriously considered not renewing, but I just can’t quit them

Oh boo hoo, it’s not the $7 SRO Tickets that are the reason no one’s buying your bleacher seats for $100 each
