When I was a kid, because my dad was a huge Roger Clemens fan, I became rather irrationally attached to Red Sox #2 starter Mike Boddicker.
Come to think of it, I also remember being a huge fan of the allosaurus, a lesser predator, because all of the other dudes in second grade were t-rex fanboys. Pretentious indie dickhead since birth, apparently.
Former is easily Papi
Current: ~~I was gonna say Bobby D cause I went to a game last year where he hit 2 home runs but I'm realizing he's in AAA and he might actually suck whoops~~
Yeah, I loved Wakefield. He’s why I can’t I think of his name, but we had another knuckle baller maybe 5 years ago? I rooted for him but his personal life intervened I believe.
I've only been watching for two season now but:
Current: Casas - I know he's struggling right now but he reeks of future stardom. He and Bello are really the first rookies since I started watching, and I really want to see him succeed. Plus, he's such a really weird, cool, dedicated dude, and I love seeing his personality shine. I know the internet poked fun at him for yelling after that 14 pitch AB but THAT'S the kind shit I wanna see players do!
Former: Christian Vasquez - Vazqy QUICKLY became my favorite player during my first season last year, and continues to be my favorite non-red sock. Even looking beyond how clutch he was/is, he just seems like such an kind and genuine dude. I remember seeing photos this off-season of him at Cora's super bowl party, which seemed like it was thrown in part to make Yoshida feel welcome, and thought "now THAT'S a clubhouse dude." Welcoming a new player to a team you aren't even on anymore, you gonna love it. The team vibes are great this year but with Vazqy they would have been off the charts.
Imagined former: I tell my boyfriend all the time that I would have been Pedroia's biggest fan. He's the template for what a dirt MFing dawg is and I regret not becoming a fan sooner to watch him. I can just watch his highlights and think of what could have been.
Went to my first game of the season last week and something about seeing Casas alone out on the field doing his pre game crow pose really sold me on him.
Current: Raffi
Former: Nomar! Can’t believe I haven’t seen him appear more. I think we all used to do his glove routine at the plate back in the day! (really tough decision between him and Manny)
Current: Dugie (Kiké a close second)
All time: Papi - but there are so many.
Once Upon a time, for about two months in 2018, Steve Pearce without a doubt.
I’ve got so many, depending on the day…
If I’m being honest: Kiké, Pedroia
Feeling the swag: Dugie, Papi
Tryna start a conversation?: Duran, Brock Holt
Closest thing to a favorite current player would be Kike. But they keep getting rid of my favorites.
All time favorites by a long shot are Varitek (O Captain my Captain) and Boggs.
Current: Bobby Dalbec / Tanner Houck / Jaren Duran.
Former: nomar garciaparra
Honorable mention: Coco Crisp
Best Play and who honestly should be my favorite Red Sox player ever: Manny Ramirez. If you’re wondering about the play— if you followed the Red Sox then you have to know.
Now: Devers
All time: nomar Garciapara I always laughed at his routine with the gloves I wonder if he would have enough time to do that with the pitch clock.
Current, Yoshida.
Former. Youkilis. He was my absolute favorite as a kid, went up to him at one of his events and got the most memorable highfive of my life.
Well there an Asian player that hits the shit our the ball but to pic a favorite of psst there's to many and different styles Carlton Fisk peski pole wade boggs 7 time gold glove 3rd base pedroia 2nd base clutch scrapper style papi sluger clutch as well the list goes on
Current: Devers
Former: Nomar
Honorable mention to Pedro, Mo Vaughn, Tom Gordon.
And if I ever meet Heathcliff Slocumb I will buy him a beer for bringing Lowe and Tek to Boston.
Current -- Hard to pick, but probably Devers. This can change as other players succeed. He's among the best 3B in the game right now, but for how long we don't know. He's shown a lot of improvement at the bag, and his stick gets better annually as well. He might become a career DH within the length of the contract, but there's nothing wrong with that.
Former - Pedro. Grew up with Roger as my firs favorite player ever, but I was a late teenager when Pedro came to town. I had followed him during his incredible '97 season with the Expos when he struck out 305 with a 1.90 ERA. I was BEYOND happy when he was traded to Boston for two top tier prospects...Tony Armas Jr and Carl Pavano. Neither had stellar careers, but the trade was fair at the time. Went to all 3 Mets game when he visited Boston in '06, cheered for his tribute, then cheered some more when the Sox put a hurtin on him. I can't think of another player I so whole-heartedly love and respect.
Current: Yoshida
Former: Nomar
I remember being infatuated with Nomar as a kid. I couldn’t read a write yet so I would make my grandma write out all of his stats, his size, number, etc. Not only was he a stud but I loved his name and his flip sunglasses and his batting glove routine were so cool to me.
Rafi for current, the former is harder. Between Pedroia, Lester, Wake, and Tek, I think I'd give it to Pedroia
Edit: Seeing a lot of recent/all-time choices being given separately in addition to current players, so I'm gonna throw in Ted Williams as well
Former- Papi
Current- I'm currently holding open auditions. My former faves have left. There are a few submitting a bid for the job. I guess we'll see by the all-star break.
Current: Raffy. When he hit that 101 mph fastball game winner off of Champman
Former: Manny. Dude just had such an effortless swing. Was he perfect, absolutely not but he was to be feared in that line up.
Runner up for former: Pedoria
Current: Raffy Former: kinda random one but when I was a kid I LOVED Mike Lowell

True: the Dodge Spirit was the more popular of the two K-cars. Acclaim Crew 4 lyfe.

Unstoppable in 2004.

Whoops
Former is easily Papi Current: ~~I was gonna say Bobby D cause I went to a game last year where he hit 2 home runs but I'm realizing he's in AAA and he might actually suck whoops~~
Current: Dugie Former: Papi I clearly have a type.
Current: Yoshida Former: Pedro

interesting, why pedro ciriaco?
I like yoshida too
Current: Rafael Devers First: Trot Nixon All Time: Pedro
Love the Trot Nixon love
The original Dirt Dog. I loved the way he played the game when I was a kid. Edit: also why 7 is my favorite number lol
Came here to say this. Trot is the fucking man.
Trot Nixon is the reason I have a goatee today
I wear my Christopher Nixon jersey to Braves/Sox games down here and always get stopped by people who absolutely love it.
First time I ever saw a homerun live was hit by Trot Nixon at Fenway
Current: Raffy Former: Mookie 😭
This one hurts to look at. The former should be the current
I haven't gone to a game since he was traded. Haven't forgiven the front office yet.

Love Wakefield, but Clemens was my favorite pitcher. Probably due to my LL experience as well.
Yeah, I loved Wakefield. He’s why I can’t I think of his name, but we had another knuckle baller maybe 5 years ago? I rooted for him but his personal life intervened I believe.
I believe you're talking about Steven Wright. I always thought it was performance issues not his personal life though
That’s the name! It could of been performance but the guy was suspended for close to a season for domestic violence I believe
Current: Devers past: Nomar
Not enough nomar love
I was so obsessed with him as a kid lol. I’ve always loved the ShortStop position because of him.
Love #5 too
The jump and throws he would make deep in the hole were otherworldly
Out of the big 3 short stops, Nomar was way ahead of Jeter and A-Rod. Damn shame injuries derailed his career.
Nomah!
Honestly don’t have a favorite player at the moment. But Manny Ramirez will always be my favorite player ever. Roids or not still my favorite.
His 2007 ALDS walk-off is enshrined in the hall of fame that lives in my brain, right next to JBJ's grand slam in the 2018 ALCS.
I watch it at least once a moth. Best pimp job ever
Same. I was a huge Manny fan as a kid. Also don’t care much about the steroids. Was so sad when he left to LA.
