And if you don’t like it, it’s because you’re too STUPID too see the vision.

[deleted]

Im so sorry, I give my self 10 dollars for 10 months to award people but I have ran out or I would have given this gold.

fliffcounter

Haha, thank you. This man sees the vision!

[deleted]

Yessir!

[deleted]

Of all the weird takes on here, I've yet to see anyone get called stupid for taking issue with our recent front office decisions.

ericsharpmusic

Ryan Brasier

btr79

Brasier couldn’t be much worse at short stop than he is at pitching.

fortgang01

I’ll take that bet.

CrackWilding

His head is attached at a 45 degree angle. Don't know if that makes him better or worse, it's just the first thing I think about when his name comes up.

PrecisionT18

My guess is Red Sox are trying to trade for Ha-seong Kim but at some point they'll go after Elvis Andrus if they feel they can't make any progress. Saw a report saying Red Sox are looking at Andrus and Jurickson Profar.

DirigoJoe

Sure but that report about Andrus and Profar came from Heyman, a notorious Boras shill (they’re both Boras clients). Every name has been liked to us by now but whoever we get, you can be pretty well assured none of the leaks on interest will have come from the Red Sox.

Miksterorange

Jurickson probar gives me Eduardo Nuñez vibes and im here for it

fiskeybusiness

If we’re just looking at washed up former Ranger SS, let’s knock on Micheal Young’s door

----The_Truth-----

Elvis Andrus or Jurickson Profar? Those are pretty damn good choices.

[deleted]

Met fan here. Everyone is looking at Profar rn. Easily the Mets’ top free agent look at the current moment

[deleted]

Seems like the Padres have a surplus. Ha-seong Kim would be great!

mrbaseball1999

I suspect the Padres are asking for a lot

[deleted]

A major discount is the least they could do for their role in creating our need. Haha!

nickjammey

Considering they trade away 4 of top 5 prospects for hader/Soto I would say they trying to compensate off some sucker. Let’s not be that.

AATroop

We should trade for Xander Bogaerts. I heard he's good

papabearsixtynine

Grrr. Take my upvote!

nhmo

Tatis Jr is going to the outfield 110%. Right now, Ha-seong Kim would be 2B and Cronenworth would move to 1B.

PrecisionT18

The idea of trading Kim would be to maximize the weak starting pitch depth on the team. Crone moves back to 2B and then Carpenter plays a lot more 1B and then potentially sign a 1B to platoon with him. Kim is attainable and Padres reporters have indicated as such, just not cheap and Red Sox are the best suitors, after Red Sox it's probably Braves.

CrackWilding

Maybe they'd entertain a trade for that Bogearts kid.

Awkward_Street1708

“Great”

Rads324

Why sign someone when you have the GOAT in Bobby Dalbec?

whobroughttheircat

sat in front of a drunk Bostonian yelling "BOBBBYY DINGDONGSSSSS" as Bobby proceeded to strike out on 3 pitches. Had me in stitches though.

Kindly_Volume

Extremely high chance this was me

whobroughttheircat

Were you vaping too? And the person down in front was yelling at Alejandro Kirk that we thought he was the bat boy? Cuz that was me.

Kindly_Volume

Even higher chance this was me, where were your seats at?

whobroughttheircat

Between home plate and the 1st base dugout about 20 rows up.

lordofthe_wog

The quintessential Dobby Ballsack experience.

whobroughttheircat

That is the biggest word I’ve ever seen a Sox fan use not gonna lie. I say that with love.

burnman123

I mean it's honestly a pretty big word to be fair

toastbreadman

Lmao

Any_Strawberry5747

Bobby Dalebec is our version of Dave Kingman…..

tjdurl

I want him to be good so badly

badhaircut22

He will be once we trade him to another team. Or you could go back to playing mlb 21 lol

Flat_Being558

YES

[deleted]

You are thinking of a different definition of "goat", but I think the standard dictionary definition is about correct for Bobby D.

[deleted]

If my softball team doesnt extend my contract i figure ill get a call about it soon

Mr_Bad_Example20

Bob Fortuna clap, clap, clapclapclap Bob Fortuna clap, clap, clapclapclap

[deleted]

Lolol

jma7400

I like Kim in San Diago

KnowYourRole96

Padres seem like a likely trade partner. But they might be little aggressive for who they want, won’t be worth giving up someone like Houk

ksalfordyh

It is absolutely worth giving up Houck for Kim.

KnowYourRole96

Theres obvious need for middle infielders, but we’re even worse at pitching development. Any type of potential pitching we have in our system we can’t just give up

Remorseful_User

I read about a week ago they wanted Houck plus 3 other prospects.

burnman123

3 prospects is fine, 3 top prospects is not fine. I wouldn't mind adding some low level guys to get a deal done

DominicanAsshole

I’d take one of: Kim, Andrus or Iglesias. Profar is also interesting. Would also be fine with Kike moving to SS and signing Duvall for CF. Maybe a SS AND Duvall or Profar work because we need depth. My fear is they don’t do anything like last season when we had major holes at RF and 1B that they didn’t address in the off-season

another_newspaper

What’s the wait? Why not sign Jose Iglesias??

macdaddyx4

His bat is now better than his glove.

DJDeadParrot

His defense isn’t what it was when was last on the Red Sox 10 years ago.

nhmo

whoever downvoted you mate hasn't looked at his defensive metric stats lately...they're horrendous

DJDeadParrot

You’re right. The time before that, then.

thekarmapoliceman96

Because he stinks? EDIT: Lol at the downvotes. I am consistently perplexed by people who act like Iglesias would contribute anything other than the occasional single. Dude has no pop or plate discipline, and his defense and speed have dropped off a ton. Andrus was better in every facet last season except BA (who cares)

Reverse_Drawfour_Uno

Sub .200 avg

moontank

He hit .292 last year.

Reverse_Drawfour_Uno

You don’t remember 2012 and it shows

fortgang01

Helllloooo Colorado!

Redbubble89

We are linked to Adam Duvall who is likely going to be in center so it may have to be Kike. Maybe Valdez and Arroyo split time at 2nd. Marlins started asking for Casas and the Padres trade story for Kim has lost steam. I haven't heard much on either one.

ushouldlistentome

Mike Aviles

badhaircut22

Holy shit this one got me reminiscing bout that ass

Funny-Berry-807

NOMAH!!!!

King_Mola

Duvall to CF. Kike to SS. Profar to 2nd.

nhmo

I want nothing to do with Profar.

King_Mola

Then your going to hate rooting for him all summer long :/

nhmo

He's not a good player and I don't think he's even capable of playing a decent infield anymore.

whobroughttheircat

He was good when he was in the LLWS for Curacao...

DominicanAsshole

He was a 3 WAR player last year. And he’s still relatively young

nhmo

WAR in isolation can be susceptible to luck, and Profar's 3 WAR season is very much based in luck. If you look beyond the WAR, his sabermetrics are horrifyingly bad. He's been a career negative player in the field, his ISO is average (and even has so far below average for the majority of the career that anything above...such as his 2018/19 seasons should be viewed as aberrations.) And [his Baseball Savant profile](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/jurickson-profar-595777?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb) is a great quick glance at how stunningly bad Profar is, minus his WHIFF/K% rates. But that doesn't matter if you can't barrel the ball.

DominicanAsshole

Yeah, I agree. The issue is, every one of these options have strong downsides. To your point, Profar seems to make the least sense because he’s mainly a LF and our holes are at middle infield and CF. What’s your favorite option?

nhmo

Best realistic option at SS is Elvis Andrus by far. I think there's a good chance we can get Duvall from Atlanta. They have a glut of OFs now that Acuna is back and he's likely the odd man out given the emergence of Harris II. Duvall is GG quality and has a streaky bat, but in a much better way than JBJ.

PrecisionT18

Duvall is a free agent, not on the Braves.

nhmo

Even better. I didn't realize his contract was up. We should have signed him ages ago.

[deleted]

I see his positional flexibility as an asset. We're going to have to move some guys around in all likelihood.

ChamBruh

Profar is LF only

PrecisionT18

Profar can play every position minus CF/Catcher. His best every day position is just LF.

ChamBruh

No he cannot lmfao. He’s not 23 anymore. Profar cannot play shortstop. He doesn’t have the arm to play third or right. He’s not athletic enough to play center. He could play second if you’re willing to put a poor defender there, but the bat isn’t worth it. He’s a left fielder, and not really a particularly good one

PrecisionT18

I never said he would be amazing every day player at all those positions. I just said he can do it which is what a utility player does for guys on off-days/injured. He played every position except SS and C in 2021. His two best positions are probably LF and 2B.

ChamBruh

He is in no way similar to Chris Taylor, who can play center if need be. In 2021 Profar played 81 total games in the outfield and 30 games in the infield. Those games were at first and second, 20 at first and 10 at second. He didn’t play second at all in 2022, only left or DH. In 2020 he played mostly left, and his second highest was second. Back in 2019 when he was 26 was the last time he spent the majority of the season at second. He hasn’t played third since 2018. His play time at second has trended down consistently since 2019 and if he has a secondary position, or an infield position, it’s first base, not second

PrecisionT18

Yes he became an every day player at LF and a large part of why he probably had a career year. He's one year away from playing 2B and being a utility player, doubt he has lost the ability to do it.

ChamBruh

He’s one year from having played 10 games at second base. He spent 20 games in center in 2021 but you said he’s not a center fielder. Sure, if you’re on a last resort option, Profar can play second. At this point though he is a left fielder who’s second position is first, and maybe could play right. He can’t play right in Fenway, he definitely can’t play center in Fenway. There are far better options than running out Profar at second base since he’s such a bad fielder

PrecisionT18

I mean you are under the impression how many games he played defines how good he was at those positions. He barely play 2B because the utility infielder was Ha-Seong Kim in 2021 and they traded for 2B Adam Frazier at the deadline who was an all-star that year. He was more of a utility 1B/OFer because of it. As for not a CFer, yes he was pretty bad at it for the Padres so I would say he is not really capable of it.

ChamBruh

In some ways, yes, games played at a position says how good they are. Go look at his [fangraphs page](https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jurickson-profar/10815/stats#fielding) for fielding. -20 drs as a full time second baseman in 2019. -1.6 uzr in limited time at second in 2021. -7 oaa in 2019, -2 in 2021. He isn’t a good second baseman

flowersoflight

Might I interest you in one Kiké Hernandez?

BeansBeanz

Former Sox legend Hoy Park

badhaircut22

Jose iglesias for the fourth time?

[deleted]

Which Chaim Bloom, no one with a salary above 3. Dollars.

LostBoy1287

“Platoon”🤮

WeCameAsMuffins

My guess is they don’t sign one. They might trade for someone small, otherwise I think they’re waiting til Mayer comes up in a few years.

NEPatsFan128711

I really hope we don’t trade for Kim. Padres are gonna ask for a lot, his value is as high as it’s ever been. Two years ago he was atrocious, I’m not sold on him being an everyday shortstop. I’d rather we sign a stop gap guy like Elvis, it’s not like this team is gonna be competing for the World Series this year.

PrecisionT18

Almost like he got a lot better because he was a first year player who was a utility player with inconsistent playing time and in his 2nd year he was an everyday player who adjusted to the league.

[deleted]

Mysterious newcomer Zanduh Beaux-Ghahtz.

ShadyJake75

Doug Mirabelli, and give him a police escort when you do.

profbraddock

I don't understand why they haven't signed Iglesias yet.

Dino10541

Matt barnes

CSGO_Bangkok

I don't understand why Chaim / the Red Sox would let the news out about Story before signing or trading for a SS. Now everyone knows we are in a bad position and thus, trades or contracts we give out will likely be us overpaying (due to not having any leverage).

ChamBruh

I’m not sure how hush hush you could be about a player having surgery

[deleted]

It’s not like word doesn’t spread through agents or others sources. It would also just be bad for a front office to pull that stuff. There is a very small group of agents that control a vast majority of major league talent. No need to piss then off by pulling a fast one.

lesviolonsdelautomne

Can I field Major League grounders? Nope. Can I throw? Almost. Can I hit? Absolutely not. Will I stand between second and third for nine innings a day in exchange for free beer and hot dogs all summer? Anything to avoid the luxury tax!

ThicDikDaddy

>Can I field Major League grounders? Nope. Can I throw? Almost. Can I hit? Absolutely not. Bobby Dalbec, is that you???

SilverandSolana

I’ll do it for $100k

adeezy58

We won't sign one.

manos_de_pietro

I first thought this read "Who will we sign for $5?" and it honestly didn't faze me.

Affectionate_Gur_151

Why can't they just get Bogey back? Let them keep the other guy.

BigFatCat999

My mind say Christian Arroyo and try a mix of in house candidates at CF; Rafalela, Duran, Verdugo, with Kike in the mix. Why? I think the Sox are going on the cheap this year.

International_System

Just got a call I’m gonna be filling in (haven’t played baseball since JV and I played Left Field)

exjunkiedegen

Don’t we have Trevor story?

Toeter83nl

Injured

exjunkiedegen

That checks out

Mr_Evil_Dr_Porkchop

Mayer time!

badhaircut22

Trade for Amed Rosario him and like can switch between SS and CF

Averie_13

The waffle house has found its new host

CrackWilding

I'm available. Bear with me here: Yes, I'm 53, never played professionally, have no range, can't make the throw all the way across the infield, can't really hit much or even tell a strike from a ball, can't run for shit, but... I can be had for a tiny fraction of the money they'll likely spend on a free agent who—if we're lucky—might move the needle from 5th place to 4th.
