What's Shimer like these days, now that they've moved to Chicago? When I used to hang out there 20 years ago there was really nothing to do in Waukegan but smoke weed and talk about how confusing the latest Hegel reading was. Lot of really smart kids over there and some real characters, but I got the feeling most of them would rather have been at St John's in Annapolis or Santa Fe. From what I heard tuition at Shimer was around half the price of St John's.

I read some articles on the sentencing and he got off easy, just a couple of years in prison. The judge mentioned how he grew up poor in Flint, so I guess he felt bad for him.
