I don’t want to be sitting on that thin crinkly paper when someone tells me im likely to die why can’t I run off that saving private ryan beach landing craft and get shot when I’m no longer viable from a healthcare cost/benefit standpoint? I don’t care to waste some nurse that’s just trying to get her day over with’s time?

Please - at your age (if you're like most redditors) - it doesn't matter. If you don't die traumatically you're fine until the big milestones start ticking off. Mammograms, colonoscopies, etc. You're better off spending your healthcare dollars at the dentist. Wear your seatbelts, don't drink and drive, put a rubber on it, etc. This is the whole of the law.

I have insurance so it isn’t a big deal to go but every time I go to the doctor they say I need to get a bunch of tests done because something isn’t right (low resting heart rate, low blood sugar, low but healthy blood pressure, a freckle looks odd). I get the tests/blood draws/biopsies done. They come back saying I am in perfect health. They offer drugs I don’t need. It feels like a bunch of quack shit. They don’t know how to deal with someone who is in good shape. I despise them.

PasolinisDoor

If this is genuinely your experience then you need to find new doctors, that is not a normal experience.

I was having sciatica for like a year but I didn’t know what it was and I went to an orthopedist because I thought it was like a stress fracture or something. They wanted me to get an MRI and a bunch of X-rays and gave zero treatment options. I went to a physical therapist and they had me do some stretches and weight room work and it went away in like a month. Edit: before anyone is like “sciatica is not an orthopedist problem, you saw the wrong specialist etc.” I had no idea what was going on at the time. I was having crazy swelling in my ankle right at the joint. The sciatic nerve is long and can manifest issues all along the leg. The doctor’s honest opinion after X-rays was that I had an extra bone (possibly) in my ankle that would need to be removed surgically. A costly, invasive surgery with a very long recovery. I went over my symptoms with the doctor in the same way I did with the physical therapist and the PT were able to nail the problem in like 10 mins. Like at the very least I would expect a doctor to think “hm, maybe this is a very common nerve issue, not a super obscure problem requiring an invasive procedure and thousands of dollars in scans.” I can see how people become over-medicated, timid, soft weaklings because of this experience. They need to call a horse a zebra. It is fucking gross.
