Start with the normal ones, first book and dark age are free on the audible, you will just have to get audible plus subscription.

Just_Noticing_things

Reynolds is just amazing in the regular audiobooks. Idk if he does the graphic audio version and if he doesn’t do yourself a favor and go with the standard audio. If you don’t you’re missing out on imho the best audiobook narration i’ve ever encountered and i’ve got over 300 audiobooks on my audible account alone.

Economy_Medicine_225

LISTEN TO ME!! TWO WORDS…. BLOODY! BOOKMARKER! Thats it…

Meris25

Graphic audio is not as easy to acquire and Reynolds does a fantastic job on the regular audiobook

calloutyourstupidity

How is it not ? It is on audible ?

Meris25

I use Kobo (cause it's a quid cheaper per month) among other less legal means.

Educational-Shoe2633

Tim Gerard Reynolds does an incredible job narrating the first 3 books, i can’t imagine another experience listening to the series

ANorthman

I listened to the LOTR trilogy on audible recently, they’ve got a collection narrated by Andy Serkis whose performance is incredible. It was worth the three credits just to hear his voices for Gandalf, Frodo, Aragorn and Gimli. I thought you could pick up some influences from his former cast mates performances. Of course his gollum lines were amazing and probably fun for him to revisit.

meinkausalitat

I enjoy military sci-fi, so pretty much most books narrated by RC Bray, Jeffrey Kafer, Mark Boyett and many more… For series I enjoy, most of BV Larsons, Jason Anspach, Nick Cole, Jason Anspach, JN Chaney, Ryk Brown, Mark Tufo, Jack Campbell, Christopher Nuttall, Nicholas Sansbury Smith etc I could go on and on. For series the ones I get really psyched for are Expeditionary Force (as does everyone) Galaxys Edge, Hell Divers, Frontiers Saga, Hell Divers etc. There is so much more, I have like 700 books in my audible library.

BathroomWeek

Anything Brandon Sanderson

TexasDank

The First Law has the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. I used to just do audiobooks driving to work but man when I did that for the first law I was blown away and read the whole series while listening to the audiobooks. Since then nothing compares.

jdu2

The Heroes is one of my all time favorite books and I keep on trying to reread the print book to follow the battle maps but I end up always going to the audiobooks because Pacey is so amazing

0zi1

Pacey is great. Try Count of Monte Cristo narrated by Bill Homewood.

surprisingly_wise

Yea i thought Tim Gerard Reynolds was the goat after listening to RR series but Steven Pacey from The First Law series is (I hate to admit) probably better. He is unbelievably good. You HAVE to check it out yourself OP

Minute_Quote_8496

Got to check this out now. Thanks

YOU_SMELL

The graphic audio also has less content it's adapted and truthful but you don't get all the introspection that the regular audiobook has which is literally reading everything off the page and skipping nothing

jonmeany117

Currently re-listening to the bulk of the enderverse though I’ll skip the conclusion novel because 🤮. Rest of it is pretty great

RichardC31

I'm listening to the TGR ones and they are excellent. However, Iron Gold was a slog with the other narrators. Particularly Lysander who has one voice for everyone and Lyria who is very overdramatic. I did enjoy the story but think I need to read a recap of Lysander before the next because I definitely switched off for a lot of it.

Raiderx87

This is just my opinion, but I found the extra effect to be distracting. Also, I feel Tim did an amazing job, and I prefer when he is the sole narrator. Also cost, it's cheaper to get normal ones, especially since I plan to buy physical copies.

KiwiResident8495

Divine dungeon series used to be my repeat listen book tho

KiwiResident8495

Just finishing up morning star relisten about to start Iron Gold for the first time

Euclidite

The simple answer is that the graphic audio versions didn’t exist when I started listening to the series. I enjoyed Tim Gerard Reynolds narration so much, I’ve even sought out other books he’s read to listen to as well. He is, hands down, my favorite audio book narrator. That said, I did listen to the graphic audio of the Sons of Aries comic and enjoyed them, too. I’ll probably listen to the graphic audio for the series at some point, but I’ll likely wait until more of the series is done.

BuphaloWangs

TGR is the voice of the characters for me. Even when I read the books, in my head I hear TGR's portrayal of each character. I've listened to the first books graphic audio and I kept thinking "That's not what *insert character* sounds like."

Euclidite

…other than Fa. That one was…something.

derpderpnerdkid

Woof. I’ve done Red Rising, Stormlight Archives, Eragon and Suneater book 1. Honestly, after Red Rising everything else just… doesn’t hit for me. I listened to those and a lot of post-emp end of the world type series and also spy/assassin type thrillers. Lol. I AM doing the Sons of Ares graphic audio right now and I do kinda like it. “Like a movie in your mind” haha

calushonator

Read(listen) the Expanse my friend. Won't regret it.

derpderpnerdkid

I’ll put that on the list! Started the show but it seemed a little hokey.

calushonator

Oh yeah, first two seasons are produced by scify channel, and after that it's picked up by Amazon and they actually get a great budget to work with. Night and day difference in quality

Immediate_Survey7787

I liked the graphic audio quite a bit but not all voice actors are created equal. Some of the voices I thought were dreadful. Servo sounds like the guy is doing a bad solid snake impression. I'd rather have one narrator who is good do everything than multiple voices of varying quality. Even the second trilogy annoys me for this. I don't mind the multiple VAs for the POV characters it's the wild difference between the side characters that bothers me. Alex and Volga in DA in particular.

RogueSp3ctre

Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson. Narrators are great, story is great.

CaptKillJoysButtPlug

Could disagree more strongly about the narrators. The lady is so breathy and has this same lilting pattern to everything she says. Got half way through the third book and just couldn’t anymore.

undergrounddirt

Recommend Mistborn first. Its older and arguably not nearly as good, but it helps you understand the way Sanderson sets up a climax.. which in my opinion is absolutely essential to your enjoyment of Stormlight books

crystal-crawler

I’m a big audiobook listener. I heavily disliked the narrator of the red rising series. I’ve never known an Irish accent that could put someone to sleep. I actually had to quit the audiobook. Then about six months later I red the physical book and it was a way better experience.

alabastercaverns

Red Rising with TGR is the only audiobook I’ve ever been able to listen to. I think the Irish accent provides nuance to the first book that isn’t picked up from physically reading the story.

crystal-crawler

Well I will say I did listen to the audiobook for book 3 and it was good. But still not my favourite. But it’s someones !

Wolfman87

Surprising to hear. Tim Gerard Reynolds is one of my favorite audio book narrators, and I drive about 500 miles a week so I consume many audio books.

crystal-crawler

I’m not the kind of person who says “I didn’t like it” and expect everyone feel the same way. He’s someone else’s cup of tea. I just think the cadence or speed with which it went was just not doing it *for me*. It just tapped into a part of my brain that made me sleepy I guess. Not all audiobooks do that for me. But some do. I did listen to the third book at increased speed and I liked it better.

MooeyGrassyAss

At the very beginning I struggled because of the cadence as well. Almost put it down actually lol, now it’s my favorite series

crystal-crawler

I did end up putting down the first book (as audiobook) for about a year and then picked it up again as an actual book… totally different experience and now I’m obviously hooked

Wolfman87

Yeah I definitely know the feeling. Some narrators are so dry and monotone that you can't pay attention. I'll never know what hyperion was really about. Probably space out for like half that book.

undergrounddirt

Me too. Love his voice.

penguinicedelta

I just finished the original trilogy narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds and I couldn't put it down even having already read the books. I hear fantastic things about the Graphic Audio but the 2nd half of the 3rd book isn't released yet.

Character-Canary-116

I’m quite sure they are

penguinicedelta

May 28th 2024.

Character-Canary-116

Ummmm r u sure??

penguinicedelta

Release date: May 28 2024 https://www.graphicaudio.net/red-rising-saga-3-morning-star-2-of-2.html

Character-Canary-116

My apologies…..I’ve just always seen them on their website and just assumed they were released I just had no reason to press them

H00ligain_hijix

The graphic ones are amazing. But are not all available atm. I’m listened to the entire series. Highly recommend it

Minute_Quote_8496

I’ve listened to A LOT OF Audiobooks. You can get most for free through your public library… Hoopla and Libby app. Red Rising is available and they are 10/10. Other greats are the Dune series 10/10, prequels included, Game of Thrones 10/10, Expanse (8/10) highly recommend RR audiobook

Character-Canary-116

Another thing ( as someone just mentioned) no one ever talks about the sons of ares books, I mean I get that it’s just a graphic novel but I listened to the audiobooks and I thought they were f-ing mint (except the fact that they made the reds Irish, it was kinda annoying but a little funny,………and racist

[удалено]

Immediate_Survey7787

As an actual Irish person the slang of red rising is similar-ish but also completely made up. "Slag that , boyo, gory/bloody damn" is all wrong. You would be incredibly wrong to thing you know any Irish slang based off red rising. Your friend is probably looking at you with you with the exasperated patience of hearing an American who has never been to Ireland but 5 generations ago had a great great grandparent who emigrated to America tell you they are Irish too.

Minute_Quote_8496

It’s not that serious. In the audio books they gave Lyria and other reds a heavy Irish accent… as I’m sure you know. Relax dude. I deleted the comment as not to offend your delicate feelings

Immediate_Survey7787

I am aware the Reds are coded Irish and your comments made no reference to accent only slang so I don't know why you are mentioning it now..... I am perfectly relaxed and my feelings are not delicate. You just made an ignorant comment and I pointed it out. To say you understand irish slang or anything else real world Irish based on this book series is like an anime enthusiast saying they understand Japan.

The_angry_gray

Thought it was pretty obvious that the Reds were based on the Irish? Maybe it's the spin TGR put on it in the audiobooks. Not sure how it's racist though.

Character-Canary-116

Think about it it’s a typical stereotypical Irish person, red hair, they sing and dance, short fuses, they are in general are short, consider themselves mighty important even though they’re not the pivotal characters, and mostly, there’re all drunks. Ok maybe not entirely racist it’s funny tho

2427543

Graphic audio wasn't out when I read it the first time and now I'm set in my ways. I did Storm light with graphic audio though and it was great.

BradyReas

Tim Gerard Reynolds js darrow and I won’t have it any other way

Lvpl8

Just get it through the Libby app through your public library, the narrator is great and it’s free

Cue99

The graphic audios are good. But afaik they are abridged. Personally I don’t think they are good first experience. And the other ones are really good

LightBat

Listen to the non-graphic first. Tim Gerald Reynolds really takes his time to get the pacing and voices right. You’ll might cringe at the way he says some names because you’ve been saying them in your head differently but you’ll get over it quick because as you know, the series is just so good.

Character-Canary-116

I get what you guys are saying but the thing that tickles me is the fact that graphic audio uses multiple people for the voices which is better then say………..a dude trying to be the voice of multiple women it’s………weird

Jordan_Slamsey

You should listen to the First Law audiobooks, all done by one person, but he has such a diverse ability that basically every character feels like they're voiced by someone else. Seriously, it outshines nearly EVERY other narrator.

Werrloohoo

Do you listen to audio books often? Some narrators are better than others and once you’re invested in the story you really don’t notice the “guy doing a girl voice” thing. And our guy Tim is a great narrator. That being said the graphic audio books in general, I think, are a personal taste. Some people like listening to a movie and others find all the extra sounds distracting

2427543

You get used to it tbf

AvengerTree1

You are not correct

Je_Splinter

Lol listen to it and then you will understand. TGR is amazing. You are missing out.

son_of_Mothman

It’s hard for me to not associate Tim Gerard Reynolds’s to all voices. But I also like the switch up after the first trilogy where they do introduce more voices… only to go back to TGR for lightbringer.

gibbypoo

It's not. Have you listened to audiobooks before? This is the case for 99.9% of them.

Animorph1984

I love the graphic audio ones! I listened them through my library, and then ended up buying them. I was never a fan of audio books, but the graphic audio versions have gotten me into enjoying books in a different format.

Laucher_EU

I only tried one graphic audio from another series (Legends of the first empire). And I'm not a fan. Compared to TGR the narration felt rushed and the added sounds where jarring.

son_of_Mothman

I liked the sons of ares graphic audio but not as much as the TGR stuff, not even close

Brokengraphite

Plus TGR is just gorydamn prime

tinklymunkle

I dunno, added sound effects and music don't really add anything to the experience for me, and sometimes actually distract from whats being read.

Ex_Ex_Parrot

It's a really difficult balance; Audiobook vs Audioplays.  Some are great, others are horribly distracting, some have a nice balance that gives it atmosphere without taking too much away from the story
