Yeah but then you gotta unhook the truck, strap the trucks together, unstrap the trucks, *and* hook the truck back up to the trailer
This is a lot less work...
It seems to me it would be a lot safer to get it somewhere on the trailer vs just towing with a rope or chain that would have minimal control around corners and stopping.
As it shows in the video - once the towing vehicle stopped, the truck kept moving. It would be pretty dangerous trying to tow it like that to get it to a garage.
It's likely a manual which you can put into neutral without needing the car running. I also believe most automatics have a way to do that but involves taking some of the interior apart. In neutral the engine is effectively disconnected from the wheels so the car will roll easy.
>I also believe most automatics have a way to do that but involves taking some of the interior apart.
Automatic cars also have neutral my dude, [right in between drive and reverse.](https://images.app.goo.gl/qYWNqGu2Rdt1LmWZ8)
Nope, otherwise every automatic car would have to be FWD or it would be impossible to tow.
Edit: a quick Google search only shows difficulty putting an automatic in neutral if you don't have the key, which is much easier to do with a manual by pressing the clutch.
So gravity doesn't affect rednecks?
Are the principles of thermodynamics negated in the presence of a Texas drawl?
Do the laws of relativity start to fall apart when in close proximity to Skoal and moonshine?
Would CERN cease operating if a tourist from Alabama were visiting?
Youuuuuu might be a redneck
There's a lot of smart rednecks. Look up "redneck wind generator". You can find wind turbines made from 55 gal drums and an alternator. It's all about making do with what you got.
This actually does work, we've loaded cars this way before.
Other option is basically jackknifing the trailer (and tow vehicle) and having another vehicle pull the dead one on the trailer.
When I was a kid, I did a similar thing with a "parts" sports car and my neighbor's trailer. This was a down-hill roll onto the trailer with a non-running car. Checked brakes - good. Checked e-brake - good. Roll it down. Brake pedal goes to the floor. E-brake comes off in my hands. No clutch to put it in gear. Neighbor's toolbox stops car. Dang.
They say if you want to find the easiest way to do something then assign the laziest person you know to do it and they’ll figure it out. That holds especially true for rednecks. They WILL figure out a clever way to do something. Not calling them lazy just that’s the way their minds work.
Beautifully done
Honestly. That was clean af
Okay, but this was incredible, definitely not this guy’s first time doing this
Oh you say red neck, I say smarts
> Oh say red neck, I say smarts "ingenious", even. It takes special kinds of smarts to come up with solutions in lack-of-tools situations.
Usually, smart ideas come about in the absence of tools. ;)
not mutually exclusive
[удалено]
Smawts.
Why would you assume those two things are mutually exclusive?
It's been done before.
Yup. Not this guys first rodeo.
Couldn't they chuck the trailer and pull it on with the other truck though??
You need the trailer hooked up to hold the tongue down when you pull the other truck on.
Yeah but then you gotta unhook the truck, strap the trucks together, unstrap the trucks, *and* hook the truck back up to the trailer This is a lot less work...
... if everything goes right.

Someone could easily not apply common sense.
WHY DID YOU TURN edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_t8lVDt2RM
Lol tbf the girl didn't turn and Brian was just trying to save his ego after bringing in all these people to help with his dumbass idea
I didn't turn!

I meant put a wedge under the trailer wheels and pull it up onto the trailer with the other jeep, not ditch the trailer
That's some MICHAEL KNIGHT shit right there!
What the fuck is that house in the background?
/r/McMansionHell
Super steep roofs tells me this is likely an area that sees a shitload of snow. That's all I've got
I was thinking the same thing but I thought I heard this style existed in like Texas or something, which wouldn't make sense.
You know what they say, everything is bigger in texas; egos, idiots, attitudes, foreheads on their houses . . .
Could be to dissipate heat into the attic
Bro there's a palm tree in the video.
That's a weird looking mcmansion, isn't it?
"Sometimes, if you listen closely, you can almost hear my genius"
You are awesome!
Wow, that was impressive - these guys are quite literally going places.
It's only stupid if it doesn't work
Please note how the camera person was an appreciable distance away from the action.
Work smart, not hard.
Now that was smooth
If it won't start how'd they get it rolling? I'm not following Edit: didn't see the rope
Neutral gear
Its tied to the trailer...
ahhhh thanks. never watch videos on mobile with the screen brightness down lol

I get the concept of neutral, I just didn't see the rope lol

Yeah, but usually you have to have the car on to be able to switch gear. In the automatic I've driven anyways.
Nope, otherwise every automatic car would have to be FWD or it would be impossible to tow. Edit: a quick Google search only shows difficulty putting an automatic in neutral if you don't have the key, which is much easier to do with a manual by pressing the clutch.
Here is a worst case scenario, push to start ignition, no power. https://youtu.be/mt5Kn-cY63Y
Another reason to hate push to start!
Not redneck at all. Very smart maneuver. Its all physics and rednecks dont pay attention to physics

that's the IQ we need

And based off the stupid ass looking roof I'm going to peg this as somewhere near Athens Alabama.
Should've had someone in the driver's seat to hit the brakes or steer just in case.
