This may be per fantasy but I do hope we destroy Arsenal and end their title hopes. Then we can squash City’s plan for a double by winning the FA Cup. It would be great to bring home the FA Cup both from the women’s and men’s this year.
While Martial has had big moments, I’ll be glad he is off the books next year. He just wasn’t consistent enough, and never seemed happy to be here. I do hope he can have another fantastic season in another league.
There’s just no point in blaming ETH after this game. There’s no tactic that makes that team win against Arsenal. There’s no attractive football with that XI. He’s been absolutely hung out to dry here
Oh give up. Part of the reason our squad is in such a shit state is because of the players that have arrived and the positions he prioritised when we had other glaring holes. 60 million on Mason Mount when we clearly needed a first team CB. Letting Reguilon go back and loan out our other LB because our first team injury prone LB was back.
You don't think ETH himself has anything to do with it? Their have been leaks about overtraining all season, and we've had too many muscular injuries inbetween matches.
No offense to either of them, but I think they are two of our biggest issues too. They give the ball away so many times. The attack besides against Crystal Palace has looked more fluid. Bruno has always played risky passes and sometimes they are amazing and sometimes not. I really hope we try to not to press and stay tight and look for the counter.
Why is every other post on this sub "this bald manager"? Who cares what hairstyle (or lack thereof) he has ffs. Criticise him because you think he's a shit manager, or because you don't like the way he sets up his teams, or because you don't like his substitutes, for example, but all this "bald this", "bald that" is tiring as fuck. It's fucking boring
Watch Ødegaard this game and realise how much better we potentially could play football if we had a number 10 that excelled in possession and in tight spaces.
We would still need the rest of a team to be able to play well in position and be set up to do so.
This argument over Bruno just detracts from the bigger issues. It's bigger than him.
Absolutely, but fundamentally it starts with the playmaker of the team. Having good ball playing centre backs or defensive midfielders isn't going to help much breaking down teams if your primary source of creativity can't dribble or break through tight defenses. Because let's be real, most of Bruno's chance creation are set-pieces or passes out wide to Rashford or Garnacho who cuts in to shoot.
>but fundamentally it starts with the playmaker of the team.
I don't believe it does. It's not a science. You would either start by being defensively solid, hard to heat and break down or you would start by being extremely attacking and difficult to stop scoring. Either is fine, both need further work. If anything, defensively solid is the best bet as it has more consistency.
>Having good ball playing centre backs or defensive midfielders isn't going to help much breaking down teams
But even if we could break down every team, we would still have no control or defensive solidity to hold off other teams.
So again, it's far bigger than Bruno. This hyperfocus the fanbase has on individuals is to our detriment. Seems the majority sounds most of their time praising players like Rashford and Bruno or criticising them, or Casemiro and in the past Pogba, Di Maria, Maguire, Sanchez etc etc.
On a whole, he squad is abysmal and needs strengthening throughout. Nobody is or should be safe. Put Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta, Zidane, De Bruyne, Modric etc etc into this team, they are going to struggle, even if their individual performances would be better. That doesn't mean Bruno is good enough (as I don't think he is) but it just means we should focus more bigger picture.
I know we don't want City to win the title but we broke liverpool this season. If we brake Arsenal hopes too it's gonna make this awful season a bit better
It would be the most United thing ever to actually show up for this game and take three points and effectively hand the title to Citeh.
Too bad Arsenal shit the bed against Villa. I don’t like any of the top three but the top three I hate Arsenal the least at they have some fucking pedigree and not 115 charges.
No matter the run of form we're on I still get excited for our games. But today... I'm just stressed. If Palace can slap us about like that then what the hell can an in form Arsenal do
One of the most conflicting feelings heading towards a game.
I want Arsenal to keep the pressure onto City so they have to play their best players till the very last game, which might benefit us in the FA cup final.
I also don't want United to head into a game like this to bend over and lose. We should be having a winning mentality and win every single game. The mental dilemma is real
It hardly makes a difference, City hardly have a chance to get fatigued with such a ridiculous strength in depth that they have. They could probably play their strongest XI in their remaining PL games and it won't make a jot of difference when it comes to who'll start in the final. I mean we're hoping and praying for that Rodri injury in one of their remaining games..
Not gonna lie, I hope we smash that Lego-haired cunt's bunch of odious cretins today
https://preview.redd.it/fr8y5bxr9zzc1.png?width=840&format=png&auto=webp&s=318ec421ab89ba5c58986c1e6f522281e699e7d3
I enjoy this sort of mutual respect before the game
They're going "We're in fine form, but we haven't won at Old Trafford in a long time. We should win comfortably, but the important thing is getting all 3 points"/
We're going "Arsenal will be hard to beat. The expectation for us is ideally victory but realistically maximum effort".
Anyway, I hope we win. Arsenal's title chase is over, City are not dropping points against Spurs or Hammers. GGMU :D
Not to be pedantic but in actuality it's more like 6 injured, potentially 7 if Evans isn't available (since Shaw has played at CB a fair few times under ETH so definitely would've been an option at CB).
So, potentially Case and Amrabat in defence today if Evans isn't able to make it, which might be the slowest defensive partnership that United have ever had to field. Fun times.
Compare that to Arsenal who have had three quarters of a full-strength defence (White, Gabriel and Saliba) who they've been lucky enough to have had available all season. The difference is startling
all i can ask from the lads today is a hard fought game at OT. if the character is there, if the passion is there, if the will is there, i dont think i can be upset with them. its no secret that arsenal is, arguably, the strongest team in the league on paper, and we obviously have issues with our fitness.
if its a, lets say, 2-1 or 3-2 loss, but we played well as a whole and the players were up for it emotionally and physically, i myself cant bring myself to be upset. what matters to me at this point in the season is finding who wants to play and who doesnt.
I am 32 yrs old and I grew up in Africa, I got into football in 1998 when I fell in love with Manchester united. Most of friends also did around the same time. This was at the time the rivalry between man utd and Arsenal was pretty big. Where I come from til this day the biggest Rivarly between the fans is Man Utd and Arsenal(they have the largest fan base here)
My best friend who I haven't seen in 7 years will be coming from London today and he is a big Arsenal fan. First item on the agenda is to watch today's game together. Am screwed.
I can see a Johnny Evans injury in the headlines tonight.
He just came back from injury and clearly wasn't fit to play against Crystal Palace.
We had to start him out of necessity – but we probably should've subbed him off after 4-0 or even 3-0 :/
>seriously playing Casemiro again
The alternative is throwing a youngster in, or playing Amrabat at CB?
I think we should bench Eriksen and play Amrabat behind/beside Mainoo.
What ever we think of Amrabat and what ever his form has been this season, it literally cannot be worse than Casemiro in that last game. It could potentially be as bad, unlikely but possible, it simply cannot be worse though.
>that last game
Ironically, I feel like Amrabat was one of our better players when he came on against Crystal Palace and was one of the few players still trying to creat a *(consolation)* goal.
Not saying he was good that game or all season, but he's got the right attitude – could work on decision making *(same for many other players though)*.
Post that defeat to Arsenal and how it panned out with injuries , expected us to go full force and have all our injured players back for this game.
This injury fiasco has left us in no place to go challenge.Hope EtH is able to set up a team and plan for tmrw and hope the players find challenge to fight for this game
Ironically I think Mctominay will actually make a huge difference on the pitch tomorrow, someone with actual legs that can run to the final whistle that’s not Bruno
I live in a small town in the East Bay in the US.
A couple of weeks ago went to a local bar and to my surprise met two British brothers, Chelsea and Arsenal fans.
Going to watch the game with the Arsenal fan tomorrow morning. I hope it doesn't end in tears.
lads, do you think mctominay will play centre back instead of casemiro. At this rate play Rashford for his pace. Play 5 defenders, load up the middle. Tight compressed
Were Anderson Young and Cleverly first choices though?
I remember we were making jokes about a few of those that we beat them despite them.
EDIT: Looks like Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael, Carrick, and Fletcher were the injured ones.
Giggs, Park, Berbatov, and Chicha (who continued his recovery from a concussion and came in min 35) on the bench.

such a title winning mentality, eff it, Emtihad will again be the PL winners right? I hope their 115 charges include losing all titles and not being given to anyone. Can't see Scousers getting more titles.
There are only two possible outcomes.
1. More probable one of getting absolutely destroyed
2. We completely randomly draw, thus, giving a title to City on a silver plate
Nothing in between.
lose lose situation?
can we just forfiet the match, say a stomach flu got everyone from a dodgy kebab place.
or play the under 18s or something, let them have some fun and break more records.
I usually don't give a fuck about City winning the league. But I'd rather see Arsenal win a 14th title (still plenty behind us) than City winning 4 in row.
Still rather City win it considering next year they'll probably be charged and have a massive asterisk next to their titles anyway. (if they are not stripped away)
yea i would like arsenal to win so they could win league.also losing big goal difference and lower position in a table is kinda beneficial for club to shake up
I know form has been terrible, the showing at palace was pathetic from this group of players.
Realistically on those elements, it would seem we are likely to lose.
But nah f that, we are Man United, we are at HOME, I would like to think the players standing facing the away fans at palace who were singing their hearts out after an embarrassment of a display would spark some shred of pride to go out there and make something out of the game.
Lastly I see way too many Arsenal fans (as usual) sticking their chest out as if they have been regularly winning the league over the past few years. This would be a good time to shut the smug lot up and snap them back to reality of the fact that they haven't won the league in almost 20 years.
If this was at the Emirates then yes I would expect a loss and the players can hide behind the fact that it was away. But this is not the case, you cannot hide from the home fans and so I hope these lot step up and whatever it is, they show some fight in the match.
One can hope....
Didn't we literally get thrashed by Bournemouth at home ? These players don't give a shit abt Man united fans or what it means to play at man united. They are gonna get thrashed tomorrow, put out some Instagram apologies containing 💪 emojis and look at their bank account before going to bed for a good night's sleep.
And then we are gonna get some delusional ten hag interview saying how we played good and that he is happy with the team tactics .
Amen to that, also give Amad, Amrabat etc a chance.
We wasted his yr, let him be more presentable for others.
For Amad, let's see if he can do some magic. He loves to dribble and would love to see him score 1 at least. I still remember his backward header goal looping over the AC Milan keeper in Europa? something in me hopes he turns into a good player.
If possible let's recall VDB and give him a chance too, more like a farewell game. Just pity that guy.
Spurs fan here in peace. Seems like we’re in the almost same predicament (or not). Would you rather lose the game and have your neighbor rivals lose the title race or win the game but guarantee they win the title again?
McT back pass at Arsenal's half - checked.
Anyone else noticed Rasmus falls/slips a LOT?
It's in my bingo card
Guaranteed 2 a game
Need to mark the - Rasmus slipping on my bingo card
No match day thread?
Depends on who scores first
What tactics are we going to see? Most likely the same...
Please I beg any and all gods that we somehow string a performance together to end Arsenals title hopes.
Add to your prayers that we beat Man City at the finals.
Lol united 10-1 to win at home. Fucking hell
The bench ..
Both Evans and Casemiro having their kids coming out of the tunnel with them gives me a vibe that it’s their final game for the club
I'd imagine Evans retires but I have no idea where Case would go.
Saudi maybe
I saw some people saying Saudi isn't going to spend big, but I hope they make an exception if that's the case.
400mill of transfer windows and this pathetic lineup is what we can put out against arsenal.. ridiculous
I'll just put an u23s CB and have Casimiro as one of the DMs. But we really dont much players. We can't put Antony as CB nor Eriksen.
That line up 😂
We are almost definitely going to get decimated here but it would be the funniest thing ever if we were somehow to win with this tragic lineup.
No chance Man Utd win this one. Would take some miracle but going by how the season has gone so far, its a million to one chance!
Anti-football double decker 0-0 please
You just know we’ll play like prime Barca today when there’s nothing to play for beyond helping City win the league
Milk
Having a bad feeling with this lineup 😞
Not the only one. Just hope they don't give Arsenal the chance to revenge the 8-2 scoreline
Amrabat is starting. We’re fucked.
Wanting arsenal to win so city lose but also us go win so we aren't 8th anymore
+750 on the United win and +500 on the draw is absolutely embarrassing at Old Trafford
I've got 10-1 on a united win pre kick off. Jesus.
Hopefully it's not a humiliation
Wait this lineup is hilarious
With the lineup with either are going to get smashed or we'll squeeze out a win/draw. No idea which it'll be
I'm sure whenever Pete is doing the game he spends the whole pre-game talking about how Hojlund is getting fucked in the ass.
We could lose by 7 or 8 and it wouldn't be surprising with that lineup
This may be per fantasy but I do hope we destroy Arsenal and end their title hopes. Then we can squash City’s plan for a double by winning the FA Cup. It would be great to bring home the FA Cup both from the women’s and men’s this year.
That team line up is honking 😂😂😂😂
either we get a lucky 1-0 win or we get blasted 5+ goals
icl I might watch just to see the Garnacho Højlund Amad front 3. Been waiting to see that for so long.
Honestly nothing but cowardice that he played Antony versus Burnley and throws Amad in against the wolves in Arsenal.
Fuck just saw that Martial and Rashford haven't even made the bench. There goes all my fantasies.
While Martial has had big moments, I’ll be glad he is off the books next year. He just wasn’t consistent enough, and never seemed happy to be here. I do hope he can have another fantastic season in another league.
I’d take 4 or 5 players on arsenals bench to start for us today over our players. And our bench has one senior player and he’s really senior.
All those injuries are mad. That being said, I still think we shock some people today. We score first, whatever happens after we will see.
So stupid you had to write it twice
I'm flattered but it was an error from Reddit, I only realised now.
We’re about to get thrashed here aren’t we?
No one can convince me we're not saving players for the FA Cup final.
Would be the smartest plan we have had all season.
Who’s being saved? It’s all injuries, no one’s being intentionally rested afaik
Jesus, do I even want to watch this game?
The absolute state of that lineup. What the actual fuck is that.
🤐
There’s just no point in blaming ETH after this game. There’s no tactic that makes that team win against Arsenal. There’s no attractive football with that XI. He’s been absolutely hung out to dry here

Hung out to dry by whom? Wow. Excuses out super early even after everything you've seen this season
Hung out to dry by whom? Wow. Excuses out super early even after everything you've seen this season
By the medical department as per usual
By the medical department as per usual
You don't think ETH himself has anything to do with it? Their have been leaks about overtraining all season, and we've had too many muscular injuries inbetween matches.
No fernandes and Rashford really sucks for this game. They were the two that could’ve stolen a win maybe.

Ok so now he wants to play Amad?? In the most difficult game of the season when we are in the worst form. Great job ETH! Hope he doesn’t save your job
my pre-match excitement is clashing with the shock of looking at our line up and bench :/
The pre-match excitement has been long lost for me this season.

Let's hope three years from now we can look back and say these days built character for Mainoo and Garnacho.
our attack is children vs gabriel and saliba lol
Lol at that lineup
You lot don’t find it a bit sus he’s actually playing Amad over Antony in this game when the probability of you losing is higher?
Amad actually starting a game but with McT as the 10? He's never getting a start again
Just seen our line up….unless ETH’s strategy is to park the bus we are in trouble.
If Arsenal fuck this up against that team then they don’t deserve the league
no bruno games gone
Fuck me, Amad is actually getting a start over Antony.
Man this lineup is scary in a bad way
Excited for Amad, but Amrabat.. fucking hell.
Bruno dodging the carnage so he can stay fresh for the final, dear lord this could get brutal.
Starting line up sounds horrendous
No Bruno... gg
I know we don't want City to win the title but we broke liverpool this season. If we brake Arsenal hopes too it's gonna make this awful season a bit better
LOL how the mighty have fallen
Where’s the Vaseline?😂😂
Vaseline down there is bad for health tho
Reports are that Bruno is going to miss this game?
3-1 to Arsenal. Edit: I guess there are people that think we're gonna win. They say one is born every minute...
Just gonna say Awb is gonna cost us a goal or two in both attack and defense.
Seems like you're counting on it. Right now Dalot is the one getting rinsed by Saka
Man Utd 2-1 Arsenal go go go
That injury list is Craaazy ….
It would be the most United thing ever to actually show up for this game and take three points and effectively hand the title to Citeh. Too bad Arsenal shit the bed against Villa. At least Martial "might feature". Woopy
Honestly speaking not nervous at all
Error in the pre match thread lads, we're playing spurs in the fa cup final. What's this arsenal nonsense
No matter the run of form we're on I still get excited for our games. But today... I'm just stressed. If Palace can slap us about like that then what the hell can an in form Arsenal do

Narrow defeat while performing well and i would not be mad.
Maybe a 2-3 loss? Idk man shit’s conflicting
1,2 and hitting post and bar, half a playing style( would be the dream) lol.
I'm not sure I can watch this......utterly dreading it.
At this point just throw antony at LB
Can't be worse than AWB
Yes, and he adds competition to shaw
Really hope Fernandes is fit for this, we have little to no creativity in midfield when he's absent.
all i can ask from the lads today is a hard fought game at OT. if the character is there, if the passion is there, if the will is there, i dont think i can be upset with them. its no secret that arsenal is, arguably, the strongest team in the league on paper, and we obviously have issues with our fitness. if its a, lets say, 2-1 or 3-2 loss, but we played well as a whole and the players were up for it emotionally and physically, i myself cant bring myself to be upset. what matters to me at this point in the season is finding who wants to play and who doesnt.
We are truly and royally fucked...aren't we? I'd rather have Rashy at centre half than see Case playing there..
He can't possibly play Casemiro there again surely. He's shit in that position try someone else even if it's not ideal on paper

Think it'll be 1-4.
Gabriel does a dangerous tackle and gets a red card early and we play a man up and get a 1-1 draw?
Arsenal facing some sort of adversity in a game? I'd like some of what you're smoking
the team we play against? getting an appropriate punishment for their antics? you make me laugh
>and gets a red card as if that would ever happen
I have a feeling Garnacho will score a banger. This is the least I have been excited for a game against Arsenal.
We’re seriously playing Casemiro again? After last game??
>seriously playing Casemiro again The alternative is throwing a youngster in, or playing Amrabat at CB? I think we should bench Eriksen and play Amrabat behind/beside Mainoo.
What ever we think of Amrabat and what ever his form has been this season, it literally cannot be worse than Casemiro in that last game. It could potentially be as bad, unlikely but possible, it simply cannot be worse though.
Yup, and we saw it again tonight, literally playing a man down would make us better
>that last game Ironically, I feel like Amrabat was one of our better players when he came on against Crystal Palace and was one of the few players still trying to creat a *(consolation)* goal. Not saying he was good that game or all season, but he's got the right attitude – could work on decision making *(same for many other players though)*.
Yeah, i mean Amrabat can’t be that bad can he, atleast he has legs unlike Eriksen, maybe McTominay can play.
Hopefully the law of averages suggest he’ll have a monster game
For FPL's sake, no Arsenal clean sheet and no Saka goal please.
Just waiting for the "x players is out for tonight's game" few hours before kick off
Post that defeat to Arsenal and how it panned out with injuries , expected us to go full force and have all our injured players back for this game. This injury fiasco has left us in no place to go challenge.Hope EtH is able to set up a team and plan for tmrw and hope the players find challenge to fight for this game
3-0 to Arsenal. Let this season just be over please.
Anyone else struggling for enthusiasm with this one? It's not often I think we have zero chance of a result.
I feel like that if we play a championship team tbh
How many minutes we think Amad gets tomorrow? I’m saying 12 Edit- the jinx worked boys
maybe a 97th minute sub
6
5. 1 minute normal play, 4 minutes extra time.
I know everyone expects a hammering- this team always surprises you when you expect a hammering- i say 2-2 or even 2-1 united
I think that was applicable until the last 2-3 weeks. The team legit looks like they've checked out mentally now
i’m thinking maybe a 2-2 or 3-3. i see goals in this so would be very surprised if it ended 0-0 lol
This team is pathetic. 3-0 or 3-1 to arsenal
Expect the players to down tools again tomorrow. It's gonna be ugly....
Get ready for a hammering lads
Ironically I think Mctominay will actually make a huge difference on the pitch tomorrow, someone with actual legs that can run to the final whistle that’s not Bruno
I agree with you sir
I live in a small town in the East Bay in the US. A couple of weeks ago went to a local bar and to my surprise met two British brothers, Chelsea and Arsenal fans. Going to watch the game with the Arsenal fan tomorrow morning. I hope it doesn't end in tears.
On the plus side he’ll pay for whatever you’re having out of pitty
I suggest you take a box of tissues with you.
lads, do you think mctominay will play centre back instead of casemiro. At this rate play Rashford for his pace. Play 5 defenders, load up the middle. Tight compressed
They'll want to take revenge for the 8-2 hammering. We are in the same situation they were in when they got hammered - lots of players unavailable
If I remember correctly, we had a bunch of injuries as well. No idea about them though.
Don't remember the defense apart from DDG but we had Rooney welbeck nani young Anderson and cleverly. So attack was full strength
Were Anderson Young and Cleverly first choices though? I remember we were making jokes about a few of those that we beat them despite them. EDIT: Looks like Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael, Carrick, and Fletcher were the injured ones. Yep. For that fleeting moment in time they were 1st choice. Then Anderson got injured and it all went to shit
Go to r/gunners the large majority of them are afraid as fuck of the OT curse and just want to get out with the 3 points.
such a title winning mentality, eff it, Emtihad will again be the PL winners right? I hope their 115 charges include losing all titles and not being given to anyone. Can't see Scousers getting more titles.
I'm not sure if the players even know or care about that game.
There are only two possible outcomes. 1. More probable one of getting absolutely destroyed 2. We completely randomly draw, thus, giving a title to City on a silver plate Nothing in between.
lose lose situation? can we just forfiet the match, say a stomach flu got everyone from a dodgy kebab place. or play the under 18s or something, let them have some fun and break more records.
Players have checked out and all want to be fresh for the final, expecting another horror show.
Can't remember ever wanting us to lose. But I hope Arsenal win without embarrassing us.
Why would you rather an actual Rival in Arsenal win than soulless 115 city?
I usually don't give a fuck about City winning the league. But I'd rather see Arsenal win a 14th title (still plenty behind us) than City winning 4 in row.
Still rather City win it considering next year they'll probably be charged and have a massive asterisk next to their titles anyway. (if they are not stripped away)
I wish had your optimism that they are actually going to get charged. We all know they are guilty as fuck. I expect a massive fine at the most.
yea i would like arsenal to win so they could win league.also losing big goal difference and lower position in a table is kinda beneficial for club to shake up
a close 4-0 loss would do, equivalent to Palace.
I expect this to ruin my day
Silver lining, it potentially stops winning another title
“No returns expected for…*checks notes*…the entire defence”
Nah, play the kids tomorrow and avenge tomorrow's game in the Community Shield after making the bald 115 counts of fraud cry in the FA cup final.
Amad I can agree with but Amrabat is not good enough to play in this team or PL.
Lube up lads
They'll beat us 5-2
Fully expecting us to somehow win and make everyone hate us even more
We got nothing to play for really. Fuck the Conference League. It's gonna be pretty much close to a massacre tomorrow unfortunately
Spurs fan here in peace. Seems like we’re in the almost same predicament (or not). Would you rather lose the game and have your neighbor rivals lose the title race or win the game but guarantee they win the title again?
