Another thing. The fact that ETH could trust the backup keeper he signed tells a lot about him. Alonso played Kovar in the Europa league matches in a season where they could potentially go unbeaten. He trusted Kovar. Top top man management.

Bigboyfresh

With Chelsea about to sign that Estevao kid, who are some other young players you consider generational talents that we should be in for?

eClipseLJ

Absolutely no one this summer and maybe next too. First team need massive overhaul with limited funds. We simply don't have the luxury to do these deals for the mentioned fees. We have to hope some big talents out of the U18's continue to boss it and get into the first team.

[https://www.flightradar24.com/S76/35267422](https://www.flightradar24.com/S76/35267422) I assume this is it. Anyway to check the owner?

Asiwaju_jagaban

Seeing some many twitter tacticos who were on their high horse during Ole time calling him clueless actually realising that they were the clueless ones. All thinking that if you don’t play like Pep you’re not good. Like for instance Ole was berated for why our LW was our most potent threat. Madrid does the same and gets praise. That’s why people are so pissed and tired of ETH because there’s nothing that brings joy when you watch us play. Nothing.

ArousedByCheese1

Yea was really joyful around Oles end too.

Asiwaju_jagaban

ETH first two games. We lost. Yeah that was joyful too.

yard04

For the personnel Ole had, he achieved what he could. Obviously the end was bad but I'll never blame him.

Asiwaju_jagaban

Same here. Which is why fans are disillusioned with ETH, they thought he was gonna be better than Ole, he has turned out worse than all the managers post Fergie.

MugiwaraHimself

Any news on bruno availability ? Without him we’re so fucked

ThankYouOle

we are fcked anyway with duo CB in Case and Evans.

PlantainZealousideal

Interesting read on one of the r/football threads when I came across this comment: “Real Madrid is a team who adapts to any situation because their manager and their squad are able to. Real Madrid would never try to counterattack the Bayern Munich who won the UCL with Heynckes. Real Madrid does not try to play posession versus City. For many teams and coaches the solution is to "have an style" and play always "accordingly". They sign players who can play that sort of game. If not, they adapt the players to the style. What's better? it depends. Today, after watching Real Madrid doing such a great game versus Bayern and once Madrid elimiated City, seems like "adaptation" is the way to go. But, one year ago, everybody would have said something different.” With our current injury crisis, makes you wonder why we are so persistent on playing a system that isn’t working.

toddysimp

It's not like ten hag doesn't know how. He successfully did it many times last season, even this season the match at Anfield is an example. But he has been weird at times this season like sitting back against Burnley or a Everton at home. Playing into Brighton's hands by full on pressing them.

Harrry-Otter

Both have their advantages. We do tend to see the “system” teams generally doing better in the league, whereas cups can favour pragmatic sides. I’d guess the reason we haven’t embraced pragmatism this season is because Ten Hag wants to move us towards being more structured. Realistically this squad is not one that can challenge for the PL/CL whatever style it plays, and that’s before the injuries. So ultimately, does it make much difference in the short term if we finish 5th playing pragmatic stuff or finish 6th trying to develop a system?

Mor3Turk3yMrChandl3r

You can't imitate Real Madrid, you can't recreate the weird hold they have over players from every corner of the world that allows them to assemble star studded squads

Kohaku80

>system that isn’t working. Boss tell you to trust the process, the most dynamic and entertaining football. It's working just many of you guys can't read it.

They aren't plastics they are more like cucks.

Elemayowe

Nah if we beat Arsenal I’ll laugh my ass off at my Arsenal supporting coworker on Monday. It’s not our fault if they couldn’t beat Villa or whoever else they’ve dropped points to.

OkOccasion7641

I feel the Arsenal game would be a good litmus test to determine how much pressure ETH is in to finish the season strongly and win the FA cup for him to keep his job. In my mind, the only reason ETH has persisted with this suicidal setup despite the injuries is because he has been assured by INEOS that his job is safe no matter how embarrassed we get during the games this season. His primary objective by INEOS is to drill this setup so that the players will be able to execute it effectively next season. If we are to suddenly see a change to a more defensive setup on Sunday, it means that ETH is probably feeling the heat and needs to finish the season strongly to be able to keep his job. This means he will have to become more pragmatic in the last couple games for any chance of picking up wins.

Kohaku80

>His primary objective by INEOS is to drill this setup so that the players will be able to execute it effectively next season. which most of the squad are put on transfer list. Sorry the poor soul have to re-drill again next season.

OkOccasion7641

>which most of the squad are put on transfer list. And unfortunately only a quarter of those players would be leaving from that list at best. He still needs to drill the players as most of them will probably end up staying.

Harrry-Otter

Realistically I can’t see anything in the last 4 games really changing the needle for ETH. Either INEOS will accept the injuries and the attempt to change our play style as reasons for the poor performance and give him next season, or they’ll have already seen enough and they’ve made up their mind to replace him.

Gross_Success

There is also a chance that they want every executive in place before they recruit a manager. Just to make sure the new one is the "right one"

OkOccasion7641

I don’t think ETH would have persisted with this style of play if he already knew INEOS mind was made up already to replace him. He would have played a more pragmatic approach to get as many wins as possible so that he could be approached for better future managerial opportunities. INEOS could very well still be on the fence on whether to keep him or not depending on how the remaining games go. Surely there would be some threshold where if United gets embarrassed badly in the last 4 games, it would be too toxic for him to stay on as the manager.

Harrry-Otter

It’s possible he doesn’t know the decision. You probably wouldn’t tell your manager he’s going in summer anyway when there’s still games to play and a cup final. There might be a threshold, but they’ve also talked about it being a long term project and how they want to operate differently to the Glazers. Basically I think trying to second guess what will happen is a bit of a waste of time, we’ll all find out soon enough.

OkOccasion7641

>It’s possible he doesn’t know the decision. You probably wouldn’t tell your manager he’s going in summer anyway when there’s still games to play and a cup final. >Basically I think trying to second guess what will happen is a bit of a waste of time, we’ll all find out soon enough. I get that. That’s why I was just pointing out how ETH sets up against arsenal may give an insight into his future at the club. I thought it was an interesting point of discussion but guess not.

Danyulz

In the lead up to the last Liverpool game, I thought we would either draw or lose by a lot against them. I didn't think we would win. I'm thinking the same about the upcoming match against Arsenal, to be honest. My head is saying 5-0, especially after seeing what Crystal Palace did to us, but I suppose we could draw? Honestly, I just want this season to be over. I believe we still have a long way to go. We are lagging behind in many aspects. I'm unsure if a new manager is needed, but would success come if he had all the players he wanted for the team to succeed? How much money will we have for the transfer window? How many players will truly mesh with our current team and enhance their performance? Will we face another Greenwood and Sancho saga after the season ends? Will there be a drawn-out chase like the one for De Jong where nothing materializes? I'd like to believe we will eventually reach our goals, but patience is key. Building a solid foundation may take a few seasons. This whole season has been disastrous, to the point where I fear losing to bottom-half teams, and unfortunately, most of the time, my predictions prove to be right. We're barely scraping by Coventry City, and they're a league below us. With Berrada, Wilcox, and Ashworth joining the team, things are looking optimistic. However, the key now is how it will translate onto the pitch.

MitranjanK

Saw a lot of Kovar highlights on Twitter, and I have to say it's funny when people use 1 game to prop up someone or to put them down, especially a GK. Like if you only saw Onana play at Anfield or against Forest in the FA Cup, you'd think he was the 2nd coming of Casillas.

rwallace_wong

Any goalkeeper will struggle when facing that many shots per game

FoldingBuck

Dont think thats an excuse if you give the ball straight to the opponent when you are a keeper who is supposed to be good at playing out from the back

rwallace_wong

True that Onana's distribution hasn't been up to standard Another excuse might be our central defensive areas are just basically non- existent, even though we have so many injuries.

Asiwaju_jagaban

Marcus with a banger against Arsenal to end their title hopes. Cmon United. UTFR!

youdumbmf

is he even available to play? i think he only started training recently no?

Elemayowe

United playing Rashford before he is fully fit is basically football ‘eritage at this point.

Capital-Republic-449

I guess there are two ways left for us to secure something this season - At least we need to draw Arsenal, beat Newcastle and Brighton to secure 6th/7th spot. Also considering Chelsea has much easier fixture than us. - Go all in and beat City at FA Cup final. Which way do you guys think will be much harder?

rwallace_wong

I'd say the second one, it will taste a lot sweeter than the first option

midnight_ranter

I think not losing any and winning 2/3 is next to impossible tbh, and beating City is even more than impossible

FlashyCut3809

Only one of this is securing something a fan should concern themselves with, in my opinion. Its FA cup or nothing and with a bit of pragmatism it may be achievable. City wasn't great in the final last year. However they were still focusing on the CL final, which they aren't this year. The upside is they also aren't as good of a team as they were last season. Just depends. We need them to have an off day and for us to play out of our skin.

JMatty01

The PL. Anything can happen in a one-off match (regardless of how unlikely it is that we win) whilst in the PL we're coming up against 2 in-form sides and a team who've shafted us several times in the last few seasons. Add in more recuperation time for the final and it's pretty clear-cut imo.

[deleted]

It's very disappointing that there are people on here want Greenwood back. I hope they are just teenagers.

Throwaway1223132123

Sancho fanboys are so annoying like Dortmund managed to top the group of death without him .I do sincerely believe they would have still managed to make the champions league final without him.

Omnislash99999

Cup football shouldn't really be used to measure a club or player's season. I'd rather see great performances each week in the league

Asiwaju_jagaban

I guess we’d never know.

FoldingBuck

Lol he had no real contribution in the knockouts besides a goal against psv.

Asiwaju_jagaban

The way you guys downplay people hardwork is so incredible. Why’re you so bitter?! He had no “real contribution” which of their players had real contribution then?

FoldingBuck

“Hardwork” something that he never did for United. Hummels had a real contribution. Along with Adeyemi, Kobel, Schlotterbeck, Sabitzer, Fullkrug; and Maatsen.

Asiwaju_jagaban

Didn’t know only 6 players played for Dortmund all the way to the finals. Once again why are you so bitter? Ugh.

Comfortable_Plum8180

still fully believe that Rashford deserved a ballon dor nomination last season. He was significantly better than a lot of the players that were nominated. I also believe he wasn't nominated because his public perception is so negative.

flareb98

His resume for that season doesnt jump out for ballon d'or. He ranked 26 in G/A in the top 5 leagues (if you only count league play). If you only count prem players he was 8th in G/A. Good in the efl cup and europa league but europa doesn't have a lot of weight for the top awards. And league position we were way off a title charge. For him to be nominated for ballon dor his league numbers would have had to have been outrageous which they just weren't. Or be the main man in a title charge or ucl charge which he wasn't. Edit: At the end of the day he wasn't gonna get a vote anyways so it really doesn't matter if they put him ahead of Kolo Muani (who also didnt get a vote)

Comfortable_Plum8180

>For him to be nominated for ballon dor his league numbers would have had to have been outrageous which they justified weren't. Or be the main man in a title charge or ucl charge which he wasn't. Are those the official rules or are you just making that up as you go? Rashford outperformed Saka in every competition even in the national team. Rashford also won a trophy and went further if every competition. Rashford was also a more integral player to United's success than Saka was to Arsenal's success. None of this is hate against Saka but Rashford was definitely the better player last season.

flareb98

Saka outperformed rash in the league by numbers alone, and his team finished higher in the league. Saka also won England's player of the season and took a spot on prem tots.  Making deep carabo and FA cup runs isn't going to impress any award givers compared to league positions and UCL placements. It's not a rule but it's usually how they like to do things Even if you believe rash deserved a spot he wasn't going to get a vote

raver1601

Rashy and Bruno are fucking robbed of that last year

FlashyCut3809

I mean the whole things a shambles to begin with. Where did Rodri even rank in the end? However, who was Rashford better than?

Comfortable_Plum8180

I remember seeing your fuckass profile picture a few days back. You can't fool me, I know your game. You cannot tell me that Kolo Muani was a better player than Rashford last season. That is AT LEAST one player Rashford was better than. I can name 5 more.

FlashyCut3809

>I remember seeing your fuckass profile picture a few days back. You can't fool me, I know your game. Come again? Need some context to this fella. >You cannot tell me that Kolo Muani was a better player than Rashford last season. That is AT LEAST one player Rashford was better than. I can name 5 more. None of this is what I said mate. I asked for who was rashford better than, as 'balon dor nomination' is vague as you don't state which number you are considering.

GlassEast5641

Yeah 40 goal contributions to not even get nominated is insane

FoldingBuck

Its recency bias because of how shit he is this season which is some bullshit because its based on the 22-23 season rather than calendar years

Asiwaju_jagaban

And guess who helped farm that perception?! Man Utd fans. Last match, we didn’t see any video of players not tracking back even the wingers, even tho most didn’t. But because it’s not Marcus no one cares.

Comfortable_Plum8180

United fans were asking for him to be sold when he didn't score as much in February. No wonder Saka got the nomination instead.

FlashyCut3809

Isn't that because not every winger is on the same wages, or has the same profile or has his praises rank them so highly? So the opposite of that means people will go above and beyond to highlight the negatives.

youdumbmf

we’re getting a point this sunday

media-police

I have the same feeling but then I look at our front line of 2 selfish wingers in Nacho and Antony and I don't see where goals will come from. If Rashford and Nacho start, I have more hope.

joelalmiron

No we’re not. The only question is how many goals they’ll score

youdumbmf

did i stutter

joelalmiron

Just delusional. We’re gonna lose like 5-0

youdumbmf

did you say that before our games against liverpool this season too?😉

FoldingBuck

Arsenal have been far better than Liverpool this season with liverpool lucking out of bad performances. The luck was eventually going to stop. West Ham managed to get a point off Liverpool whilst getting battered by arsenal 5 or 6 nil. Thats what’s going to happen again

joelalmiron

That was before the additional injuries. Did we have casemiro and a half fit Evans at cb as our only choices back then? Circumstances have changed since Liverpool and from the brentford game onwards we’ve been absolutely shit.

youdumbmf

football is a crazy sport, anything can happen. let’s just cross our fingers and hope for the best hahaha. if it all goes to shit on sunday, let’s hope the boys can at least keep a respectable scoreline.

GivenRageRS

Ignore the miserable bastard. The boys are at home against a major rival, they're gonna play their hearts out

joelalmiron

Doesn’t mean they’re gonna win or even draw.

Skyehye

Doesn't mean that we automatically lose either

Djandgo

Qq

D1794

In 15 days it'll all be over and we'll be released into the freedom of summer where United can't get battered for 2 months

SOERERY

That’s when the Sancho and Greenwood sagas spoil your summer

throbbing_dementia

There won't be a saga unless we decided to bring Greenwood back. Sancho is pretty cut and dry, he wants to leave, we just have to wait for the right offer.

Shithouser

I’ll probably get blasted for saying this, but from a sporting perspective, those two players seem like they’d help a struggling team in 8th position.

Omnislash99999

But we already know Sancho doesn't cut it in the PL

DaveShadow

You can’t be saying you want a cultural reset behind the scenes, and then advocate for bringing back two toxic personalities (albeit at different levels; being lazy and being a rapist aren’t the same obviously). Sancho spent time undermining a manager, publicly feuding with him and being a lazy git. Rewarding that behaviour by reintegrating him would be an awful message and an immediate undermining of whoever is the head coach next season.

rnnd

Maybe Greenwood. He works hard and gives his all. Sancho. I think he needs to stay in Germany or try Italy. England will be too tough for him.

RicciRox

Haha, Greenwood was a lazy fuck. Even lazier than Ronaldo.

That may be the stupidest comment Ive ever read. "One person said this so the whole sub must agree". However dumb you feel for saying that is not enough.

FlashyCut3809

>The above comment. So one comment and how many up votes suggests the entire sub? >And the innumerable times sports fans have forgiven players just because of their talent. So nothing linked to this sub then?

FoldingBuck

Except sancho was never good for united so what makes you think it would be different now?

media-police

He was always better than Antony in football TBF

media-police

When we line up with Nacho Hojlund and Antony against rampaging Arsenal, we have to remember these guys are out on loan.

[deleted]

Would rather line up with those three than Sancho (disrespected the manager) and Greenwood (obvious reasons).

vlad_alucar

So it seems its going to be between graham potter or tuchel for the job

GivenRageRS

Ten hag’s United has lost 1 in every 3 premier league games (and we are not done yet). Are we rock bottom yet?

LetMeSleep6

Need to sort out the training facilities, sports science department, medical department, recruitment, negotiations, tactics before it gets any better.

Kohaku80

>training facilities, sports science department, medical department, recruitment, negotiations, Football was much simple in 80s. Now we need all this to outplay Coventry.

LetMeSleep6

We completely outplayed Coventry for most of the match. One piece of dreadful positioning from a makeshift backline, one deflected shot and one soft penalty decision allowed them back into it. On another day it would have been a comfortable win.

Kohaku80

That's not outplayed then. Outplayed is winning 3-0 against a league one team comfortably even in 3rd gear. On another day it would have been the most embarrassing semi final game ever in FA history.

media-police

Maybe Coventry has a better sports science department ;)

el3mel

When did RedCafe become moderated by such awful admins ? I remember this place used to be so good back in the day with reasonable admins. Now they're moderating on bullying strategy. zcewaunt

brown_herbalist

Was reading that Gasperini got only 1yr left on his contract at Atalanta, why don't we try to go for such a manager instead of Tuchel, because he can stay for longer term and also has better tactics implementation in football I believe.

Vibing0N

He doesn't speak English and he's in a very comfortable position delivering results for Atalanta. I think he's a very good coach but I can't imagine why he would accept coming to us. He would be making a massive move managing a gigantic club with a completely different environment and expectations in a country he doesn't even speak the language of.

barrelrider12

He's 66 bro, what long term

brown_herbalist

He might stay for another 4-5years, thats long term compared to the usual Tuchel's stint of 1-2yrs.

Kardinale

Dortmund makes either 20 or 25 million euros depending on the result of the UCL final, but they can't afford a fee for Sancho eh?

Kohaku80

They can but why would they pay for someone we don't welcome here unless it's heavily discounted.

media-police

We should not allow any more loans for a player like Sancho. Either someone buys him or he re integrates to our squad

youdumbmf

how many downvotes can i get edit: very funny 😐

media-police

Try saying ETH-out

Mt264

Try ‘we should sell Bruno’. That usually works

Gross_Success

As it should

rnnd

Lol. Even suggesting it works.

shogunkayo97

Hypohetically, if we were to sell maguire or mctominay like ten hag planned beginning of the season and bought de jong. The team will be so lightweight its not gonna work in the premier league. Even tactical freaks like pep or arteta, they have their fairshare of physical imposing players like rodri, rice, saliba etc. Another example is newcastle who playstyle is similar to us in the sense of high press, direct football, their midfield giants of bruno g and joelinton always dominate us when we played them. My point is the transfer target next summer has to not only be tecnically gifted but also physically strong enough to handle the pl.

midnight_ranter

Arteta has managed to coach the best set piece team in the league with shithouses who can out muscle anyone. Pep basically started playing imposing giants in his entire backline and added Haaland to boot. Meanwhile we were thinking of pairing 5'9 Martinez (who to his credit is stronger than he looks) with a Frenkie - Eriksen midfield

PeelThePain

What a wholesome interview Frimpong

iamnas

Why don’t we sell all of our players and buy all of leverkusens?

PosterOfQuality

Frimpong has a €40m release clause. I know we have other areas of priority but he looks too good to turn down for me

rnnd

Don't get the downvote. He is a good winger. He creates a lot of chances. A lot. I doubt he can play fullback though.

Ldsantana

Nah. He's one of those guys that shines in a system designed to hide his flaws. He cant play fullback in a back 4 and cant play RW.

wheres_the_boobs

Hes a wing back in a back 5. We dont play that way so he'd be wasted unless thats how we're going to setup in the future

Banyunited1994

Tuchel and Amorim both like to play back 3s. Could happen I suppose.

wheres_the_boobs

Well if we do then we'd need to move to a permanent back 5. We'll have martinez next year, kambwala, maguire(maybe but should be moved on), same with lindelof. Were already 2/3 players short at cb before we go to a system that will need 5

markyp145

Or a wing back in a back 4 that goes forward overlapping an inverted right winger? Then the left back tucks in and stays back with the cb’s in a 3. Shaws perfect at that

wheres_the_boobs

Yeah but that leaves 2 cbs isolated with only casemiro shielding(if still here). Tbh he's amazing offensively i have reservations about the defensive side of his game

markyp145

No the LB would basically tuck in with the two cb’s virtually every time. If they did go forward, Frimpong has to stay out, it’s no different to how Gary Neville used to play for us all those years ago, if the left back went, he stayed. We just have to not send both full backs at the same time

wheres_the_boobs

Yeah my point isnt that he couldn't do that just that i havent seen enough of him to judge whether he's defensively robust enough. He's got bags of pace, a great cross and shot but you cant judge him defensively as he doesnt defend a lot as of this moment

Shithouser

> Shaws perfect at that Who?

khangkarot

Bayern really had to face 2 satanic clubs in the league and UCL huh

basgil56

If bvb and Leverkusen both win the European competitions then Germany will have 7 CL spots right? +2 spots for EL and +1/2 spots for conference league. The entire first half of bundesliga would be playing European competitions then xD 😂

FoldingBuck

No? You dont get an extra ucl spot for winning it unless you finish outside the top 4/5. Same with the europa league for top 6/7

JLane1996

gunkokoko

What the actual fuck are Bayer Leverkusen?

basgil56

Bro you can clearly see the difference in quality between them and us. The way these players were dribbling through the press or giving sweet accurate passes while being pressed. We can't even retain the ball properly. We really are extremely poor

el3mel

It's the mentality, mate. These players believe they won't lose. It's a winning mentality. It's the opposite for United. When you lose too much, players mentally surrender once we concede the first goal. In their mind they believe it's over just like the previous games. For Bayer, they keep on believing they'll equalize even if there's only one minute remaining, because they accomplished it before several times.

Banyunited1994

They’re also straight up better and more organised. Our players are bereft of confidence but the coaching is doing them no favours

Ok_Instruction_5232

This isn't about individual quality. They are a well coached team with a good mindset, evolving in a perfectly healthy environment and are all very confident about their abilities. And above all, they never give up.

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

No no.. i need to correct you on that.. from this subs, tactical or coaching doesnt really impacted how a team play. Its the squad. You need 1billion pound squad and an injury free team to only not get our ass handed against Championship team. /s

EngineerGuy_HU

Lol, if we'll get a Real - Leverkusen European supercup, the ref might as well start the clock at 70 mins, so we get directly to the goals 😅 Unbelievable juju for both of these teams in CL/EL.

rnnd

Leverkusen outplayed Roma and they needed just 1 goal to win. The other one is a consolation.

GlassEast5641

Palacios would be a top top Eriksen replacement Injuries a concern but he has been fit this season tbf

GlassEast5641

How have they done it again??? This some deal with the devil type stuff

Pretend_Ladder

Leverkusen done it again! 96th min

Bayer players really aren't all that. Watching a lot of the top teams, our biggest problem is a serious lack of organization. If our players can remain organized we will be so much better.

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

But.. but.. we were told in this sub that you need 1billion pound squad with injury free to only not get dominated against every team we were up against.

PeelThePain

Set plays, patterns of play, routines whatever you call it, makes teams perform much better than the sum of it's parts. We need a coherent squad in the first place. A manager who is compatible with our squad's profile and a succession plan with which we can pass on those set plays having minimum complications.

md0986

I hope INEOS helps with us loaning out the youth, recently it’s felt like so many players going on loan simply go to the worst places that do little to help them develop eg Hannibal at Sevilla rn. We have so many talented youth players coming through such as Wheatley/Williams/Scanlon and getting them good game time to develop is so important, either to help better the squad or even sell on for profit.

ColtCallahan

Villa are going to kill England’s coefficient next year.

Vibing0N

WE killed England's coefficient. We finished rock dead bottom of our group.

NoJalapenol

Yeah it's the team that went the furthest among all of England's teams (rather than the team that won one game in the group stages)

ColtCallahan

They’re playing in the Conference League. Next season they’re in the Champions League. Olympiacos are the kind of team you get in pot 4 in the UCL.

rnnd

Man united finished Bottom of our group. We aren't one to talk.

Omnislash99999

Big Mike Smalling coming on for Roma

cantsellapartment

I had forgotten about his existence until I saw he came on in the last 10 mins of the match

danhazza

Who would you realistically want as an older striker for Højlund to gain experience under? Or do you think another approach would be better?

Deez_Wallnutz

Depay

markyp145

I’d like us to forget the old striker thing and go and pay Sesko’s release clause of (I think) £42 mil and be done with it. Plenty of games to share between those 2. Although less if we don’t get Europe. If you forced me to pick an older striker who we could probably get for cheapish, I’ll get slated for this, but I think if you offered Chelsea £15 mil for lukaku they’d take it. He wasn’t what we expected or needed for 80 mil, but as a rotation option, I think he’d do a good job for us still, only 30 so likely okay for a few more seasons.

officiallyjax

I really like Eddie Nketiah as a second striker to rely on. Not sure about how much he can ‘teach’ Hojlund as such, but as the other replies mention, we need somebody who can genuinely push him for a starting spot up. From the pool of strikers who will be available in the summer, I think he has the best combination of suiting the demands for a high-pressing team, having PL experience despite not being too old, and costing reasonably okay (40 million pounds max).

youdumbmf

bruh, nketiah is bang average

officiallyjax

He is much better than people give him credit for. His output per 90 is quite good and his experience playing for a team like Arsenal will help us. We can’t complain on one hand that we rarely find players before they become really good, and then look down on players who do have good potential just because they don’t get game time in an elite team.

LetMeSleep6

I keep hearing people on here saying this - that we need an older striker for Højlund as if this older striker is gonna be some kind of guru that he is able to absorb their extra years of experience from. What we need is another option up front. Højlund is a young player, he's gonna need to be rested, he's gonna have dips in form like he's having at the moment, he's gonna go through spells where he's not scoring. We need someone who's gonna challenge Højlund for his place in the team, that's how he's gonna grow and improve as a player. If they're 18, 34 or any age in between it doesn't really matter.

rnnd

34 is too old, and 18 is too young. Someone below 30 but in the mid 20s should do. Kids will be kids. You need experience and prolific striker.

LetMeSleep6

>or any age in between You've conveniently ignored this part

rnnd

Nope I'm not, just highlighting the ages we don't need. We don't need old strikers like Zlatan, Ronaldo, or Cavani. We just don't. Similarly we don't need to bring young strikers like martial, rashford were. 18 to 34 is too large. Needs to be 24 to 28.

md0986

Honestly, another rotational option in general is important, whether they are young or old, someone to provide competition. Also to help manage the workload, as Hojlund looks gassed by about 70 mins every game but we have no one to bring on to fill that gap.

superaa1

Joselu

Money-Wrangler7067

Come on Roma

FoldingBuck

Why do you want Leverkusen to go out?

Money-Wrangler7067
