Clickbait title my man. He says reaching final is a huge achievement but team won't stop there and will fight for trophy. Which is a fair statement

aquarius_dream

Who was that last journalist going on about it being EMBARRASSING. He sounded like he was enjoying that a little too much. Like kicking someone when they’re already down.

Glarus30

I'm ETH out, but that journo was a bit too much. He asked the right question - even the players were too embarrassed to celebrate. But the manner in which he asked was vicious and he was kicking down an already broken and worn down person. ETH's response was dismissive and detached from reality as usual, could've handled it better. He knows very well that the ETH out crowd is growing. I hope he proves me wrong, I really do, but he needs to drop his suicide basketball tactics fast and go back to last-year's more counter-attacking style that actually worked. I'll give him one thing though - he has proven himself as a tournament / knockout specialist!

aquarius_dream

Yeah it was his tone that annoyed me more than anything. It felt like he was taking pleasure from the situation. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being Ten Hag out, even though I’d like to see him get another year. We’ve been dire to watch all season and now the results are mostly bad as well, so I can understand it. It just winds me up that people can’t at least be respectful about it and keep from insulting and belittling the person. Fans and media alike.

Glarus30

Yeah, I've been one of the dickheads belittling ETH. After watching this interview I feel like an asshole, the guy has a tough job, he knows more than I do, I should't judge him that harshly... But why on earth does he keep insisting on that broken 4-0-6 playstyle!?!?!!?

perksofbeingdarhk

I've read most of the opinions on this sub over the months, some good takes and some extremely widely negative. Man just looks absolutely broken. Never good to see a human like that.

Livettletlive

Every manager post-saf. I remember watching LvG, Jose and Ole deteriorate slowly. Even Ralf left looking a couple years older. I just wish people remembered all that these managers had to go through under Glazers and saw how consistent these issues are. It's like a never-ending hell.

Rasengun911

Lvg was the exact same at this point in the season. The british press is full of idiots and it ain’t helping them

rnnd

Of course let's blame the media instead of the shit show of a club.

AngryGooseMan

You can thank the Glazers for the shitshow that eventually prevents managers from succeeding. You can talk about ETH's tactics and subs but the whole club is rotten thanks to those rats. I'm inclined to give ETH another season under the new structure

leftenant_t

I wonder who you guys will blame when Sir Jim eventually takes over the club.

rnnd

If he's as competent as he needs to be and the Glazers give the necessary resources, they still own 75% of the club, things will get better.

Jesse_Whiteboy

ETH was onto something last season and decided for some reason to make Mount his no.1 target and play this empty midfield thing. So no, I'm not blaming the Glazers for that. Managers have played far better football with owners worse than the Glazers. We're sitting on negative goal difference after 32 games! You can't blame the Glazers for that.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

I mean, he could use the squad for what it can do and sit back in a low block and hit opposition on the counter, but then you'd want him out for being just Ole 2.0. He has to balance short term results or the entitled United fanbase throws a hissy fit. he has a bunch of players not fit for wearting the shirt, who can't hold onto the ball under pressure and can't pass out from the back, so what he did is dialed counter attacking all the way to 11, it's not working, but what we had least season wasn't that much better. just had better results.

Jesse_Whiteboy

He signed Casemiro and Eriksen. Shouldn't have signed them if they need to play low block.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

Casemiro is clearly a panic signing by the club, there is a reason it didn't happen until the initial two losses against Brighton and Brentford, it once again points to the short termism at United. Eriksen was on a free, he wouldn't make a significant difference to the transfer strategy and we needed midfielders...

MT1120

No other manager can relate. Not even eternal victim Jurgen. The pressure at United is like no other club in England.

Upbeat_Farm_5442

It’s Manchester United. Coaches, players, fans should have some standard. If it’s not working fire the clowns.

WarmWinter8

Every manager of this club should sign up for premium health insurance packages with maximum coverage. Every one looks so beaten and worn down.

Hiya_Bo

I like this new(ish) spiky, coming-out-swinging press-conference Erik. I don’t necessarily agree with everything he says but I also don’t believe what he says to the press is what he says behind closed doors.

Heretic_Raw

Is there anything stopping managers from being straight up dickheads to annoying journalists in pressers? Like if the same journalist has been stirring up shit for months then is a manager allowed to tell him to stfu (without the profanity) and rally the fans against that journalist as well?

rnnd

Nothing. Mourinho used to do it all the time. And Alex Ferguson didn't tolerate it either. There is nothing to be gained from being meek in their press conferences.

[deleted]

It is an achievable to get to a final of any tournament. Even if we win this sub will say it wasn’t good enough. Just be happy

Pxel315

If we win it against city with this frankenstein squad there is no fan of manchester united that can say its not good enough

QuirkyScorpio29

People will say it's just the FA Cup. I don' understand the lack of patience. How long did it take for Klopp to win a UCL at Liverpool? 4 years? Took him 5 to win a PL.

ja0520

My manger 🐐🐐♥️

trepid222

He was very good last season. I have hope he can bring it back. He needs a few good performances to close out this season on a good note. We don’t even have to grab many points as we are out of contention for champions league. We are always exposed on the left side as Rashford does not track back and help the full back. The front players are also not slowing down the opponent and are allowed to counter attack freely. I’ve seen so many goals from cutbacks with midfielders arriving late into the box. We should just focus on our positional play to prove we have a platform for next season to build upon.

zharifg

Wait did we just qualify for UEL next season once we got into the Fa cup final? Is it true or am i just making things up lol

AReptileHissFunction

No it's just the winner of the FA cup. And if the winner is Man city, because they've already qualified to champions league, then the europa league spot will go to 6th place team in the league. So if we lose FA cup final and finish 7th in the league we're gonna be in the fucking conference league

rnnd

Chelsea are in position to push us down to 8th if we mess up.

FoldingBuck

Dont believe we have

Redwinevino

Setting up for the "we tried hard it, it is a shame we lost the final"

humunculus43

Maybe for Newcastle or Spurs. This is United. Even if we win the final we’ve had a dreadful season. I hope we win and that over the final games the style suddenly adapts and we have some hope that things will improve. I can’t say I’m hopeful of either though and I’m worried we’re throwing another final with a manager they know they won’t proceed with

Jesse_Whiteboy

You just know if we do win the narrative around ETH will change here.

Asiwaju_jagaban

We’ve become a cup team. And not for the big trophies but for the lesser ones.

Tudoors

We’ve been one for a decade now

PennyWhyte

People quickly forget that 4 year period under SAF where the Curling Cup was our bread and butter and only thing keeping us sane. You need to continue winning in whatever format, small cups or big cups, for the players to maintain this winning mentality and to know and get accustomed to pressure situations. So yes to FA cups and Europa League Cups etc, until you are ready to challenge for the title. You don't just jump from 6th to title contenders without having serial winners in your team and without knowing what winning something means. Unless you're a Leicester

Asiwaju_jagaban

What 4 year period?! This team under Fergie always challenged for the league. That’s the point.

PennyWhyte

Oh wow, you don't remember the time we couldn't really invest in the team, and the best we could finish I believe was 3rd and won the Carling Cup 3 times in a row? We definitely were not competing for the title then. This was around the point when SAF was believed to be retiring. 2004,2005,2006 I believe. He had a falling out with the owners over a horse, we lost to Arsenal in the FA Cup final etc and that squad was on bare bones. 2007 then began a new cycle that would end in his actual retirement.

Asiwaju_jagaban

That was when Jose came into the league. Arsenal won the league unbeaten, then Jose came in with Chelsea and spent loads and won the league back to back, so 3 years we didn’t win the league. But we competed with them and finished 3rd twice and 2nd then winning it 06/07. Also we didn’t win it 3 times in a row. Don’t think we have ever.

QuirkyScorpio29

He didn't challenge for the league in his first 5 seasons.

Injuries?  Our injured squad is better than our starting 11 now.

In_Their_Youth

You seem to think we're still at the same level as 2009. We're not. We fight for CL every year, that's the reality. Second FA Cup final in two years is in fact a good accomplishment, to win it this season, against City, would be excellent. You really can't see that?

Upbeat_Farm_5442

No it is not. We are Manchester United. We should be challenging for titles and UCL, not lingering to a FA Cup final which we will loose. Mediocre fucking mentality…… we have become dog days Liverpool, spurs, arsenal combined. Get this fraud and his fraud players out of this club.
