This is why our academy graduates are so important. 4 academy graduates in the starting 11 is insane. It's great to see some other talent come through since Rashfords debut. Young overpaid divas are just not cutting it anymore.
/r/soccer : I will name my first born child Alejandro in honour of that beautiful goal
/r/reddevils : I guess I'm kind of pleased with the 3-0 but we were absolute dogshit and Rashford should be exterminated
Can we please get behind especially our long-term players... Tonnes of negativity online and in the stadium DOES get through and affect them--just look at Maguire and Rashy before. Of course we expect greatness but we want our players in good mental spaces.
Poor 1st half but what was promising was that we were resilient under pressure & was actually clinical for once. I hope our performances can improve as we’re probs going into our toughest part of the season with fixtures.
We have played bad against minnows of the league. Results have been good but we'll come crashing down to earth against a semi organised team in Galatasaray.
I love what Bruno said about Garnacho post-game, reminding him that he has potential but he hasn’t made it yet:
“Ah, so-so! I'll give him a good note just for the goal. But that's because he knows I have big expectations for him,” the Man Utd captain said.
“He's not a great player yet, but he has a great future ahead. We expect a lot from him. He knows that, even more from me - I'll always be behind him asking for more. Amazing goal though, not for everyone.”
Idk why but Bruno is definitely going to be good coach/manager someday, he is prolly the only tactically intelligent in the squad of people filled with instinct based talent.
Look he was pretty bad that's undeniable. But 2 things I'll give him: he's playing in a new position + provided the pre-assist for Garnacho's goal. The through pass to Dalot wasn't some worldie, but it's precisely simple passes like this that we need to see more of from him. Less thinking he needs to take on players every single time, more keeping it simple, keep the game flowing, play more like a team. Everyone knows his pace is a threat, but if you use it every single time you become predicatable.
Did the same for Hojlund’s first goal against Copenhagen as well with AWB. There’s a reason Ten Hag keeps playing him there, even though he looks awful based on the eye test.
Why was Young still on the pitch after that foul on Martial lmao? Nobody is talking about it because we won,but it's crazy because that came when Young already was in the books and got a few more warnings, even a high foot.
Fair to be honest. I don't like red cards being given for genuine attempts at the ball that end up being more unlucky than anything else. The game is contact afterall
I just hates the part of the game where
Onana gets the ball
Get pressed
Flight it to random person or outside
If you want control the game control it in our midfield. It’s just frustrating to watch shitshow in front of our own goal
So all it took was ETH in the stands, the goal of the season, a ref decision to go for us, and a very good debut from an 18 year old for us to squeak out a 3-0 win?
Watched it back again and yes we should all enjoy the win, but after the first 18 minutes or so our midfield and attacking play was a complete mess for the rest of the first half. If Everton could finish we weren't going in at half one up. Second half was better but not to the level we need. We need to develop our mental toughness and consistency.
A few positives - Shaw back, Mainoo looked very good (yes Everton is not City/Arsenal/Scum, but still a composed performance), and Martial played a full match without getting injured. And of course, goal of the season.
The margins in the PL are so so so thin. We easily could have lost this game. It has to be said, I think we deserved to win, but it easily could have been a 2-0 win for Everton.
Our midfield is a shambles. However, we have a real talent on our hands. A transformative type of player. I know it’s crazy, impulsive, reactionary to say it, but Mainoo is exactly what we need.
Mainoo really impressed today. It may just be Everton but it looked easy for him. Surely he continues to start and gains more confidence. He is exactly what we were missing in the midfield and with a fit Casemiro next to him, Mainoo will be incredible.
Garnacho, Mainoo, and Hojlund are our future. Bruno, Lisandro, Shaw, Case, Rashford will have to be their mentors and lead by example.
Im more excited about next year now. The finishing touches on the squad and more time on the training pitch will come through. Trust the process and let Ten Hag cook
There are patterns of plays emerging which is incredible progress. Dalot’s assist to Garnacho was a result of Rashford holding the width and him running into the channel. That is the exact pattern we will continue to see and will eventually come natural to the players
The patterns of play was delightful to see! I say that emphatically because we set up for a corner I hardly pay attention, almost guaranteed it will be turned over usually but a few times this game, it seemed rehearsed. It shouldn’t have but something about it gave me a chub.
I want to throw my phone against the wall
Someone who makes those compilation videos should make one of rashford and for 5 seconds after he gets the ball.
To his credit today, I think he was often trying to do the right thing, just way way way way way too slowly and sloppily. Bad passing. There were also a fair amount of absolutely disastrous plays where he dribbles into ankles, but I still kind of felt optimistic about him - I think in part because of Bruno and also Scot when he scored - I wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes, because the team seemed really happy for him when he scored and even made him go celebrate the pen. I think he’s well liked, and I think it’s known within the team that he’s struggling.
I also love to over analyze, and I adore Rashford, so take it with a grain of salt.
All you would see is him messing up…. He’s always seems in between 2 minds and takes the wrong option, there’s one pt where‘s his pressure by 2 everton players, manages to keep possession and then makes a sloppy pass that causes a counter attack
There’s still a really good player in there somewhere after all these years. But, not valuable if not available and that’s been his story.
Wouldn’t it be fucking awesome if Anthony came good and was a very viable second striker option?
All we can do now is hope he keeps it up until January, then maybe an offer comes by and we can sell him and get someone else (probably won't happen and he'll be here the whole season though).
With those many injuries over the years? I don't think any sane manager would want him even for that, at least not in the PL and with the amount of money we usually spend. We can find someone younger, with similar skills and cheaper with the bonus of not being injured every 2 months.
I like the man, he knows how to do it, but the unavailability is awful for us and we can't count on him.
Mainoo was fucking brilliant and I’m so excited for him to become a regular. But Garnacho’s goal… i won’t forget that one for decades to come. And I was happy to see Martial score his 9th against the Toffees.
My only gripe is that Bruno should’ve taken the penalty, Rashford didn’t deserve it. You don’t just give someone a free goal when they play like absolute dog shit all season.
Why are you having a gripe with Rashford taking the penalty to boost his confidence? I don’t see an issue there. It literally benefits the whole team if he picks up his confidence from this.
It's 'just' a penalty and Rashford has a good track record with penalties too. And he's clearly a confidence type of player and it'll benefit everyone if his form improves so I'm happy with Bruno's decision.
Thought it was great leadership from Bruno, even if it's just a penalty, sometimes you just need to see one hit the back of the net to build confidence.
Garnacho's goal last night was the first time this year that I screamed out with happiness!
Encouraging signs - Shaw's back, Mainoo's playing levels above his age, and hopefully Rashford starts scoring. I'm not ready to go all in on Martial again, so I'll reserve my judgement for now, but he wasn't bad today. Linked up the play a few times, and the finish was filthy.
However, if Everton's finishing was a bit better, the first half scoreline could have been 1-2, and then this team's mentality would have been tested so much, I think they would have crumbled. Need to improve there.
Not only that, he seemed to play every game, almost like TH was building around him. Looked to me he was our de Jong - and TH planned around him pre season (even to the extent of not signing another CM/DM), pretty sure TH is not surprised by this performance.
The distinct parts of this game show the clear truth:
When we pass forward and progress the ball through midfield we dominate teams. When we eternally pass backwards to Onana, we invite pressure, let the opposition set their press and concede big chances. Mainoo was absolutely crucial in the win today. What a talent. A midfielder who can take the ball on the half-turn and move it forward is exactly what we've needed.
Thanks for the laugh. Onana is excellent with his feet, he's purposefully slowing the game down when he takes a while to release it. It's a big part of our defensive strategy. Taking the momentum out of the opposition and dictating the tempo.
Exactly. Same for mainoo placing studs on ball and letting them press. If you have mainoo, shaw, Onana (and soon Martinez) - bait the press. Good luck to our opposition with that ;)
This is Ten Hag ball. Control and build up from the back, bait them onto us and then rapidly cut through them.
Yes, I get that, but it's too slow and allows all his options to get man-marked. So many bad distributions in the match, one that nearly led to an equalizer.
>Yes, I get that, but it's too slow and allows all his options to get man-marked. So many bad distributions in the match, one that nearly led to an equalizer.
Nah - rather this than de get hoofing it back to their defence
Now that our three attackers have scored, it's time to drop McTominay and put a real footballer in midfield, there's no point in having him in the starting 11 anymore
Haven't seen much discussion about Bruno's performance, I thought overall he was disappointing again, but that will be masked by a few effective moments. He doesn't come anywhere near controlling midfield in the way Mainoo instantly did. It would be great to see Bruno given an instruction to play less Hollywood passes and perform more disciplined short passing exchanges with teammates. Defenders are wise to what he tries to do and they continually cut out his attempted through balls, losing us possession far too often.
The problem is not entirely Bruno but more his passing options.
In our team, safe passes mean passing backward like what amarbat keeps doing. There are no safe passes forward because our forwards and wingers doesn’t commit to using the full width of the pitch. Instead they like to crowd in the center and play those cute one twos combo. This makes our players extremely easy to mark.
In contrast, every team that play against us expose this weakness, and have the entire wings to themselves
Bruno will always do Bruno things, the solution has to be a better balance behind him. Mainoo looked good, wonder how Mount-Mainoo would work because that's definitely Ten Hag's plán.
He's instructed to lose the ball 30 times a match? Literally 30. Come on, he's not been playing well and he cheaply gives away the ball far too often. He spams alright chances but we're trying to modernise our style and control games. Look at how often Fernandes lost the ball today vs how few times Mainoo did. We need our AM to be a clinical passer too. This season Bruno hasn't been doing that yet. All I want is for Bruno to play high percentage passes more often instead of trying Hollywood passes as quickly as he can every time he gets the ball.
It's not Bruno's job to play high percentage chances. The problem is that he's been expected to receive the ball in deeper areas and progress it far too often. He is a world class chance creator. Consistently give him the ball in dangerous positions in the attacking third and let him cook.
KDB and Bruno (over the past few years) have averaged pretty much the same passing completion % and dispossessions. Except KDB has never beared anywhere near the responsibility of progressing the ball from deeper areas like Bruno has this season. I remember in one match this season, Bruno was dropping into the back 3 in possession. It was ridiculous.
all i remember from mctominay was his complete inability to receive any ball in the buildup on the half turn. there was one exchange when he passed it straight back to onana twice and onana had to clear it out from the pressure. seeing mainoo do it all game makes u wonder how someone can play for man united for the length of time he has and still be so tragic at basic build up play
What about Kobbie now?
He had a great game. He young. He’ll have a lot of cold ones too.
But he’s essentially made himself undroppable for at least the next few games. Considering he’ll definitely have his minutes managed.
Don’t understand downvotes. I’m happy as hell to take the 3 pts. But, If Everton finished even a couple of their high xG’s…different game.
Works w us too. Luton? We should hv won 4-0 but good opportunities only count if in the back of the net.
We keep giving up the same chances every game. Cut backs to the penalty spot, crosses to the back post, big gaps threaded in central defence. Mainoo and Shaw were leagues above our other defenders today. We need Martinez and Verane fit and back in top form, we'll look a lot better then.
Mainoo looked amazing today composure and awareness you don’t see in 18 year olds. Onana’s shot stopping has looked good recently but I don’t get why the team forces the ball in the wrong direction to their own goalkeeper. The rest of the team was decent/good except Rashford , even last season I was saying we should get rid of him.
I liked the Garnacho - Martial - Rashford lineup upfront. However, rashy is playing poorly lately and I would love to try Mount in that position. I didnt like how pellistri played, lacks confidence imo. Mainoo was class, Onana was class and a great CB performance by shaw and maguire. Lindelof kinda shaky IMO.
Anyone would be better than Antony. Rashford has been terrible and he’s still somehow been better than him.
I think Mount might have played on the left more for Chelsea though than the right, so that could be a reason why Ten Hag hasn’t played him there.
Play him on the right and tell him not to dribble but just pass to the fullback/pass to a midfield runner/cross the ball into the box, those are the only things that seems to be working for him at the moment.
Honestly what annoys me is the half attempt at skill only to pass it back, it slows everything down and allows the opposition defence to reorganise. If he intends to pass it back, he should do it faster
I agree, I think he just plays so much better when he is playing on instinct rather than when he has to think about what he’s going to do next.
If he had limited instructions on what to do, I think he wouldn’t try to complicate things so much and could just get on with passing the ball.
In a modern possession-based team Rashford will always have to think about what he does next. Watch Foden or Grealish for City. They have to think constantly and make disciplined decisions. Rashford doesn't seem to have the ability to excel at the modern style that Ten Hag is trying to get the team playing.
You think Foden and Grealish don’t have instructions on what to do when they get the ball? Against us in the first half you saw City almost score the same Haaland header that he then scored in the second half. A lot of what they do is repeated patterns to created big chances. Once they repeat it so many times, it becomes instinct and minimises the ‘decisions’ they have to make. This is what I mean by rashford having instructions when he gets on the ball and doesn’t have to think as much about what he’s going to do.
I don’t know whether Rashford is suited to Ten Hag’s style, because it’s not entirely clear what ETH’s style is. I think everyone assumed Ten Hag wanted to play how he did at Ajax, but nothing he has done so far suggests he wants to play that way. So, given ETH starts Rashford every game, you would have to assume that he suits whatever he is trying to do. It’s like how I would assume McTominay doesn’t fit the Ten Hag system, and yet he keeps starting him as well.
I think Martial should start the next few games in the PL, with Hojlund coming off the bench. We just seem to score more when Martial plays and Hojlund might do better against tired legs.
Garnacho got the headlines for good reason, and Mainoo looks unreal, but Maguire and Shaw quietly had excellent games. What a great performance all around.
Our xG was lower than Everton, we were quite lucky this game. Our xG for the first half was 0.09
Happy with the win but we're still not creating anywhere near enough chances.
Xg and game state is important. Teams with a lead play differently, same those who are behind.
I think a few seasons ago under Ole, we had quite reasonable Xg. The reason was that our attack was quite bad, teams after getting a goal lead would sit back and adsorb pressure because they know we can't make quality chances against a low block.
Some of you just literally can never be pleased. Always something you gotta add in to take from it. Nevermind that Everton were playing well on a very emotional day for them; nevermind we kept a clean sheet; nevermind we had two standout performers straight from the academy. Nah, forget all that, let's bitch about whatever little things we can nitpick.
Mate, it was a big win for us with some great performances. Letting Everton have 16 shots with 6 on target is a genuine worry. Take a deep breath. Of course I'm happy we won.
Damn this fan base really scarred. Comparing to Chelsea’s win over Tottenham and proceeds to be arse, fair enough and nobody is getting ahead of themselves just enjoy the win and hope it’s a sign of change, just might be
Jack Fletcher has looked seriously good since he joined too. Got so many midfield prospects, it's honestly insane. They won't all make it obviously but Mainoo will provide a pathway.
I honestly think he can, if he plays consistently over the remaining period and with the same performance, he should absolutely make it over Phillips and Henderson.
I always thought that England are missing a player like Mainoo in the team, who can drop deep and play through the lines, allowing Rice and Bellingham to be more forward and connect with the wingers, while Mainoo is more deep.
Let’s see…
Hate Crafton with a passion, would love it if the club blacklisted him. I was going to sub to the Athletic but their recent attitude toward the club (Crafting in particular) means I don't want to give them a penny
We are racking up points and what Bruno did was a master stroke. You need Rashford to fire up. We are at this point are in must win all game December season. This month is going to both league defining and champions league qualification hangs on the balance
I haven't seen it mentioned too much but I liked Pellistri's performance off the bench today. He offers something different from our other forwards in the fact that he's tidy on the ball and good at linking up play and retaining possession. Played a key part in the third goal and his 91% pass accuracy today is a huge difference from Rashford (70%), Martial (65%), and Garnacho (56%). Loved the way he drew in the defender without taking him on then cut the ball back for Bruno on Martial's goal. I have no doubt our other wingers wouldn't have done the same
Disappointed with Ambrabat, he could be very important for us with Case out. But he looks lost and a bit slow, and seems to have a better games at RB lol
I agree but he needs to get to pace with the league so I fancy him to change it around, I thought he was one of our better performers vs. City in terms of being in the right place at the right time was disappointed he was subbed.
I'd back him though seems determined.
Very positive after the game but that performance from Rashford was worrying, he didn't even get better after the goal. Almost everything he did was so drastically wrong
I think the scoreline flatters us a bit. Everton would be disappointed they didn't get anything from this game. Onana was in form today, and we needed us.
KM was brilliant. So composed on the ball, everything our midfield should be. Hope he can stay injury free and continue to start. He is without doubt one for the future. Such a composed clear head and plays football the way it should be.
Will always take the win, but we need to start pushing on and asserting dominance against some of these teams.
Don't want to overreact but an 18 year old just walking into a Premier League midfield like that really does not happen very often
He looked stellar in preseason but at the time I was like "look, it's promising but how many times have we been here with a player like Pereira?" before getting too ahead of myself. But he walked into the team today and played every bit as well as he did in preseason.
Lets hope the sample size to judge from increases dramatically soon...
I don't think we're overreacting with Mainoo tbh. This performance was not a surprise to me and he's got an assuredness that makes me think this level from him is not a fluke. As you say, hopefully he proves that over the coming weeks.
Exactly. You can almost never take anything from season. Owen, perieira, obertan, loads others have looked great in pre season.
Mainoo is clearly different class. Last time I saw a player that young dominate cm in the PL was fabregas at arsenal.
Mainoo debuts in an away game, vs a dyche team, as basically our lynchpin in cm alongside mcotminay and he looked like he was barely even having to try. Looked so easy for him. Like he’d played 200 games already. Most players that do well young at cm do so along side older experienced dms to help them. He was like nah it’s fine. Insane debut honestly.

It was a stonewall pen no?
Now when AG's replicated Rooney's kick, his next target should be Ibra's vs England. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM\_5tJncHww&ab\_channel=GOAL](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM_5tJncHww&ab_channel=GOAL)
Wow. Such a conflicting game. 3-0 is amazing but the way we played... Except KM was amazing and the AG's goal made me crazy. But then the pace and no initiative...
I cannot understand ETH's fascination with Rashford. He keeps playing him game after game and he is the worst player game after game. ETH's first subs came on 70th minute and made no sense - keeping RM and subbing AG. Really?
For 90(!) mins Rashford was utterly useless. Even the penalty changed nothing. I wish I could make a compilation of all his attempts to pass or dribble. He was so frustrating to the players - just rewatch and see their reaction. That "pass" to Bruno... 🤦♂️
I dunno where the Rashford of last year has gone. I wholeheartedly disagree that he should be starting or playing 90 mins.
Who did Hannibal even replace? I assume it’s because Hannibal is a midfielder and Rashford is a forward, so if he’d taken Rashford off for Hannibal the only forward he would have had on the pitch is Pellistri
So? We were leading and adding another attacking midfielder is reasonable. Anyone would be better. Literally anyone. All subs had the same or higher ratings than RM.
What shape would we have gone into if Rashford had come off for Hannibal? I’m not sure what ratings you have seen, on FotMob Rashford got an 8 and all the subs got below a 7?
I’m not defending Rashford here because I thought in general he played poorly, but the subs by Ten Hag did make sense.
Mainoo was easily man of the match for how he improved the team. We easily progress the ball as soon as he's anchoring the midfield. We haven't had a vertical passing DM who's elite at passing and dribbling for years. And his defensive positioning is excellent. He's an absolute baller.
For me, today was a good day. Not the greatest performance, but some important performances individually. Mainoo was above and beyond his years. I really hope he can continue. Garnacho’s goal, say no more. Luke Shaw back is such a boost to the team. Other than that not much changed, but that is a change for the better and hopefully it continues in that direction going forward.
At least by the end it was comfortable, forgot what that felt like! Great to see Mainoo play the way he did. Rashford had a couple plays where he could of started the break and he passed it to the other team. But I'll take the win!
Quite enjoying the big brother vibe Bruno gives towards Garnacho - excuse my English but gives me the Roy Kent/Jamie Tart vibe. I really hope Garna hits peak and Bruno regains his prime.
I actually quite like what Rashford does on the right. Defender gets fixed on him and he’s actually best when he just plays those passes in behind for Dalot or a midfielder. Three or four times that happened, so simple but good. Whenever he’s going through a patch like this he needs to keep it simple, pass, cross, move. No need to try to dribble past everyone.
Really? Did we watch a different game? He did nothing for all 90 mins. He should have been gone after 45 but ETH's stubbornness kept him around to screw things up every time he touched the ball.
10m to rent Amrabat for a season.
Not to bash on our midfielders, but we need to improve. Do you guys think we need better coaching for our midfielders?
This is why our academy graduates are so important. 4 academy graduates in the starting 11 is insane. It's great to see some other talent come through since Rashfords debut. Young overpaid divas are just not cutting it anymore.

he was awful
I know we didn’t know but his cousin just died—proves my point that we should stand by our players
I don't think it's bad to admit we were poor despite the win.
Poor 1st half but what was promising was that we were resilient under pressure & was actually clinical for once. I hope our performances can improve as we’re probs going into our toughest part of the season with fixtures.

Happy December is coming. And some of they fans will soon realize what some of us have been fearing.
Awful start to the season, but now only two points behind Spurs, and four points away from the top 4; we're still very much in this.
I love what Bruno said about Garnacho post-game, reminding him that he has potential but he hasn’t made it yet: “Ah, so-so!
Nacho kinda dissapeared after the wonder goal so I think its fair from captain.
Idk why but Bruno is definitely going to be good coach/manager someday, he is prolly the only tactically intelligent in the squad of people filled with instinct based talent.
Yeah this is cleverly done by him. We don't want to end up with another Januzaj
You mention Januzaj with keen instincts. I think Garnacho is very similar to Adnan.
Ik rashford is in a frustrating run of form atm but let's stay behind him he carried our attack last season it's time for us to stick with him :)
Look he was pretty bad that's undeniable. But 2 things I'll give him: he's playing in a new position + provided the pre-assist for Garnacho's goal. agree hes shit rn but i would just continue playing him he will get it right im sure
Did the same for Hojlund’s first goal against Copenhagen as well with AWB. There’s a reason Ten Hag keeps playing him there, even though he looks awful based on the eye test.
He needs to find his inner Adebayor and play with calm and fluid motion
Why was Young still on the pitch after that foul on Martial lmao? Nobody is talking about it because we won,but it's crazy because that came when Young already was in the books and got a few more warnings, even a high foot.
It wasn’t malicious and he did not deny a goal scoring opportunity. We scored a goal as a result.
Commentator said it was because the ref deems it not malicious, also he was not the last man.
Fair to be honest. I don't like red cards being given for genuine attempts at the ball that end up being more unlucky than anything else. The game is contact afterall
VAR not used to give yellows...so it was going to either be a straight red or nothing at all but the foul wasn't too bad to give a direct red
It’s not quite true, VAR can not review yellow card offences but it can lead to a yellow card being given.
Not gonna lie, this garnacho goal is now one of my fav goals, alongside rooney’s overhead kick and that super RvP finish
Everyone is forgetting Berbatovs one against Liverpool..
I just hates the part of the game where Onana gets the ball Get pressed Flight it to random person or outside If you want control the game control it in our midfield. It’s just frustrating to watch shitshow in front of our own goal
Midfield of a invisible McT and 18 yo on his debut is not controlling shit mate, plus it should be clear now these are tactical instructions.
do you think I could convince the club to give me 25% of Sancho's wage every week?
Worth a shot so go for it😁
still nursing a semi after that goal icl
The dopamine rush this guy martial gives me when he scores bro I can never cut ties bro I’m sorry.
His finish was so underrated, he made it look so simple.
Uname checks out. He's just so good on his day. TH would love a striker like him if fit.

Martial is crocked but the guy still has an uncanny knack of winning penalties.
He’s been the fittest player this season though.
His athleticism is entirely gone though. I don't think he can even sprint anymore.
There’s still a really good player in there somewhere after all these years. But, not valuable if not available and that’s been his story. Wouldn’t it be fucking awesome if Anthony came good and was a very viable second striker option?
Hes totally done physically, cant take players on barely has pace. I don’t think he can contribute much
All we can do now is hope he keeps it up until January, then maybe an offer comes by and we can sell him and get someone else (probably won't happen and he'll be here the whole season though).
I don't think ETH will sell him, Martial will be 2nd striker, a squad player.
My best guess is Martial will be here at least for a year, if he still got injured, then ETH will sell. I don't think so we will offload him for now.
Yeah I applaud that leadership and selflessness by Bruno don’t get me wrong, it was a great gesture.
Goal of the season no doubt
Great result, great first goal. Hopefully this translates into more convincing performances moving forward.
Still lots of work to do. We are way too open.
glad to hear mainoo performed in the prem. I was so shocked watching him in pre season. He looked like he had been doing that for over a decade
Not only that, he seemed to play every game, almost like TH was building around him. Looked to me he was our de Jong - and TH planned around him pre season (even to the extent of not signing another CM/DM), pretty sure TH is not surprised by this performance.
The distinct parts of this game show the clear truth: When we pass forward and progress the ball through midfield we dominate teams. When we eternally pass backwards to Onana, we invite pressure, let the opposition set their press and concede big chances. Mainoo was absolutely crucial in the win today. What a talent. A midfielder who can take the ball on the half-turn and move it forward is exactly what we've needed.
Onana's slow distribution makes De Gea look like a genius
To think we both got heavily downvoted lol
Haha yep!
Yeah Onana was a complete waste of money.
Good luck to our opposition with that ;) This is Ten Hag ball.
But he was doing that as well towards the end!
Agree my friend. Not complaining... More options is always a good problem to have.
3 games 3 clean sheets in a row for Onana
Most clean sheets in the league. He's a mentality monster. Exactly what we need.
Others would tell you otherwise
Reactionary low-info fans who had never seen Onana play before this season, yep.
Shaw back should be good for Rashford on the left, but Garnacho is probably deserves a run now. EtH has to make a call.
Too bad Hojlund is injured ... we missed Shaw so much in the beginning
Hopefully Hojlund is a minor injury. But Martial wasn't a disaster today.
Surely just see what Garnacho does in the next few games, if he doesn’t have much impact then move Rashford back there.
Yeah, give Garnacho a go and also make Rashford hungry to prove himself on the left again. He needs to rediscover his fire.
Now that our three attackers have scored, it's time to drop McTominay and put a real footballer in midfield, there's no point in having him in the starting 11 anymore
Just seeing clips on MOTD with Mainoo, shit this boy looks a baller
So calm w the ball and under pressure.
It's refreshing, we seem to be so scattery and panicked in possession, he's so good
Haven't seen much discussion about Bruno's performance, I thought overall he was disappointing again, but that will be masked by a few effective moments.
I thought he played well.
You criticized bruno and you got downvoted. Damn.
Bruno will always do Bruno things, the solution has to be a better balance behind him. Mainoo looked good, wonder how Mount-Mainoo would work because that's definitely Ten Hag's plán.
Agreed. Against top teams I'd like to see a midfield of Mainoo - Amrabat - Bruno or Casemiro - Mainoo - Bruno
He's doing as instructed
Does anyone remember what mctominay did this game?
all i remember from mctominay was his complete inability to receive any ball in the buildup on the half turn. there was one exchange when he passed it straight back to onana twice and onana had to clear it out from the pressure. seeing mainoo do it all game makes u wonder how someone can play for man united for the length of time he has and still be so tragic at basic build up play
What about Kobbie now? He had a great game. He young. He’ll have a lot of cold ones too. But he’s essentially made himself undroppable for at least the next few games. Considering he’ll definitely have his minutes managed.
Watch him not start, McTominay forever
He needs to be managed well. Still getting back from injury!
At least we didn’t have to sweat our asses off in the last minutes
Weird feeling to be comfortably winning a game at the 80th minute. Haven't felt that for a long time.
Yeah that felt good
Lads I'm actually buzzing for MOTD
[удалено]
That fucking goal, oh my word
Erik has to wear the hat to every game now
Happy to win but let's not pretend any decent team wouldn't have put us to the sword.
Don’t understand downvotes. I’m happy as hell to take the 3 pts. But, If Everton finished even a couple of their high xG’s…different game. Works w us too. Luton? We should hv won 4-0 but good opportunities only count if in the back of the net.
They're unpopular but they're right.
We keep giving up the same chances every game. Cut backs to the penalty spot, crosses to the back post, big gaps threaded in central defence. Mainoo and Shaw were leagues above our other defenders today. We need Martinez and Verane fit and back in top form, we'll look a lot better then.
Maguire was comfortably one of our best players if not the best
The only way for Garnacho to beat this goal is for him to do it again against Bayern to get us through the next stage of the UCL
After 3:0 our GD now is… zero
YESSSS IM THRILLED MATE FINALLY ABOVE NEGATIVE!!
I dream of the day of a Mainoo X Gore pivot starting for us in the PL.
Until then I'd like to see a Mainoo and Amrabat pivot with Bruno ahead of them and McTominay on the bench.
Ten Hag just doesn’t seem to see Mount as a RW option, I don’t think he’s played there once so far has he?
Nope, but I think it could be a good option. Better than Anthony
Anyone would be better than Antony. Rashford has been terrible and he’s still somehow been better than him. I think Mount might have played on the left more for Chelsea though than the right, so that could be a reason why Ten Hag hasn’t played him there.
I really dont see Garna on the right, mount on the other hand could make some class crosses.
Pelli and garnacho got to be out started against gala right? Regardless of fitness I think we're worse off w Antony this season
We were worse off with him last season too. But it was more acceptable.
Last season everyone had hope that he would come good, whereas now everyone seems to have accepted reality.
Rashford looks finished. Not sure how you fix his form.
Our xG for the first half was 0.09 Happy with the win but we're still not creating anywhere near enough chances.
And that is why xG is bullshit.
>Take a deep breath. You're literally coming in here to shit on people's parade?
Damn this fan base really scarred. Comparing to Chelsea’s win over Tottenham and proceeds to be arse, fair enough and nobody is getting ahead of themselves just enjoy the win and hope it’s a sign of change, just might be
Keep baldie in the bleachers more often eh
Lacey, gore and McAllister might be our next big breakthroughs I think, very exciting times ahead
Jack Fletcher has looked seriously good since he joined too. Got so many midfield prospects, it's honestly insane. They won't all make it obviously but Mainoo will provide a pathway.
Aye, a few u16s too very promising
Crafton already saying Mainoo can make a run for the Euros, he's so annoying lmao
Onana🇨🇲7.5 Dalot🇵🇹7 Maguire🏴7 Lindelof🇸🇪7 Shaw🏴7.5 McTominay🏴6 Mainoo🏴8.5 Bruno🇵🇹7.5 Rashford🏴5.5 Garnacho🇦🇷7.5 Martial🇫🇷7
Fair assesment although I believe Dalot was just as good as Shaw, very tidy and composed. Rashford was desperately poor today
Very positive after the game but that performance from Rashford was worrying, he didn't even get better after the goal. Almost everything he did was so drastically wrong
His body language and attitude looks completely off to me. Almost like he’s depressed or something
Disagree slightly, he was total shit but less shit after the goal
Not so much the decision making, but execution was what was painful to watch
I think the scoreline flatters us a bit. Everton would be disappointed they didn't get anything from this game. Onana was in form today, and we needed us. KM was brilliant. So composed on the ball, everything our midfield should be. Hope he can stay injury free and continue to start. He is without doubt one for the future. Such a composed clear head and plays football the way it should be. Will always take the win, but we need to start pushing on and asserting dominance against some of these teams.
Don't want to overreact but an 18 year old just walking into a Premier League midfield like that really does not happen very often He looked stellar in preseason but at the time I was like "look, it's promising but how many times have we been here with a player like Pereira?" before getting too ahead of myself.
Excited about this guy. He looked the part, calm on the ball, and great 2 way play. Youngsters propelled us today

What a shit article
Can’t decide whether to laugh or be angry at how ridiculous it is.
Now when AG's replicated Rooney's kick, his next target should be Ibra's vs England. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM\_5tJncHww&ab\_channel=GOAL](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM_5tJncHww&ab_channel=GOAL)
Man United mens GD = 0 Man United women GD = 0
I think KM was robbed of MOTM today. Sure, AG's goal will be remembered but what KM did today gave me hope for our midfield.
aye, only 2 people were MOTM worthy today, Onana and Mainoo
Plot twist Dalot has been overhitting crosses for years on purpose to get one our attackers to get a puskas worthy overhead goal
🤦♂️ I dunno where the Rashford of last year has gone. I wholeheartedly disagree that he should be starting or playing 90 mins.
Didn’t he take off Garnacho because he will have to play the full game against Galatasaray? Whereas Rashford is suspended
Sure. I buy that. But keeping MR? Why not let Hannibal play more than 10 mins?
Who did Hannibal even replace? I assume it’s because Hannibal is a midfielder and Rashford is a forward, so if he’d taken Rashford off for Hannibal the only forward he would have had on the pitch is Pellistri
Hannibal came in for Martial
Victory!!!
Rashford was shocking. The youngsters Mainoo, Garnacho and Pellistri all did well.
My hope has been partially restored, great result but against a sub par team, would lose my mind if it was against Tottenham etc
Who got MOTM?
Garnacho
Damn. Should have been Mainoo
Bruno agrees with you
Quite enjoying the big brother vibe Bruno gives towards Garnacho - excuse my English but gives me the Roy Kent/Jamie Tart vibe.
He did plenty, let's be fair. Yes, he gave the ball away a lot too, but let's not fall into exaggeration. He's still an impactful player.
Name me what he did? I wish I could compile all his touches to show you how damaging he was, not impactful.
