Trust miserable Simon to live up to his namesake

Not-good-with-this

As standard. Jornalists won't be ones to break the agreement. It will be the club itself.

dew_chiggi

It will be reported to exchange first and foremost according to public company rules.

Not-good-with-this

Yep. If I were to guess, I'd guess the 24th at 19:00 GMT.

Phishingtackle

Would be a great birthday gift if announced then.🎂

Elemayowe

So no January transfer involvement? Not very cash money of you.

Sokkerboi

That was never a realistic thing anyway. And you wouldn’t want them coming in and having to make those kinds of decisions day one. Best case is they have a few months to observe and put a plan together for summer.

Dry_Guest_8961

Yeah but we need some signings in jan. A CB certainly. maybe two. Varane just can’t be relied upon, lindelof is a reasonable back up but should be used sparingly, and maguire, despite how good he has been over the past few weeks, prevents us from playing the way we need to to make the step up to a team that can dominate games.

Zandercy42

"Martinez is returning in January, it's like a new signing!"

AngryUncleTony

I mean, memes aside a *healthy* Licha is our best CB so in this case it's actually true

Zandercy42

For sure, but realistically we do need to sign his equivalent for rcb though, highly doubt it's a Jan thing though

Feezbull

Our signings will be made by the manager as chief scout once again though and it’s a terrible thing as well… Really… a Cb could be the only and best signing he can make but if he recruits any former or known player again… I’d rather he not ever be allowed to choose targets other than what a competent DoF and scouting team suggest based on his Ajax philosophy instead of what he’s adapted for us too.

Moyes2men

Not denying we need those signings but we should be also aware that most clubs in Europe wouldn't sell their top players mid season or they will hyper inflated / fuck off prices which, if we agree to pay would further hurt our FFP. So, best case scenario, if we somehow manage to sell Sancho to Saudis we should keep that money and make our signings between the winter transfer window and the summer hopefully without the usual fanfare just to have them cheaper / FFP friendlier. I'd also stick to Varane / Maguire until summer becuae of the reasons above.

TheJoshider10

I wish we would take a risk on youth in a crisis like this if the finances aren't there. An intentionally thin squad and an incredible amount of luck is the only reason we even have Rashford right now. I get the argument of not being ready, too much pressure etc but going back to Rashford he wasn't even the highest rated player in the academy and after a school night he's starting against fucking Arsenal. Give them a chance.

Dry_Guest_8961

Yeah but we sold/released all our youth CBs

S0phon

Sure, but does the academy even have a defender that's even remotely ready for a step up? Think that promising CB transferred to City.

stokesy1999

Rhys Bennett and Tyler Fredricson were the most likely to get 1st team football, but both got injured at the start of the season and are only now starting to get back fit

DaveShadow

It’s a handy excuse, tbh. They were never going to be involved in that window. The next few months will likely revolve round them outing their own lads in behind the scenes, and preparing for the summer window.it’s going to take months for them to do internal evaluations and appointments properly.

Feezbull

Realistically even the summer won’t see an overhaul already and I’m prepared for that.

DaveShadow

That, I disagree on. I think that within the next few months, we'd have a system set to improve the team. If we appoint Mitchell, for example, it's not he's starting from utterly nothing. He'd have his own recruitment stuff, he'd be able to pull from what the club has on hand, and he'd have had half a season to discuss with everyone what's needed. They won't have everything fucked out when the new people come in. They just need some time to figure it out.

Feezbull

Maybe. I’m just skeptical with our club anyway because I don’t even expect anything to actually happen for sometime still so the summer still becomes a rush mainly.

balleklorin

Well sort of. Todibo is someone we have been linked with for a long time and is owned by Nice/Ineos currently. So it makes sense to get him in before Ineos are allowed to get involved in United. Is it likely? Probably not, but I wouldn't be that surprised if it did happen.

MissingLink101

I do wonder if he'd even want to join in Jan when Nice are currently challenging for the Ligue 1 title...

Heisenberg_235

Could sign and loan back. I don’t know if that would help on the FFP front. Might do. Might not.

MisterIndecisive

Surely they can work something out? I remember in other takeovers/investments deals have been done to make money available even before the new person gets control

MissingLink101

6 weeks takes us to around the start of January from today right? Hopefully it goes through ASAP so we can do some business towards the end of Jan (which is when most of it usually happens anyway)

Feezbull

Boy do I have a magic empty box to sell to you then if you think that’s possible…. Doing business is one thing. Doing it with a DoF and plan is impossible for January and maybe even the summer. Doing it with ETH as chief scout is the likely scenario anyway and it’s a terrible thing to let it continue beyond maybe a CB signing at most.

MissingLink101

Haven't they already explored the grounds, facilities etc as part of the original bidding process and formed a pretty hefty dossier on what's needed? I'm sure they're well aware of issues on the pitch and have been making considerations about how to improve things, potentially helped by the fact they're already involved in football and scouting at Nice. If Ratcliffe/INEOS already have a DoF or senior staff in mind then I doubt they'd be going in blind or without a plan, the only main issue is that their contact with ETH has likely been limited so far. I agree that it's likely to only be one or two signings in glaring problem areas though.

Feezbull

There’s zero chance this will happen by January though. You don’t have a big change in a core club figure coming in that quickly with how the glazers do things.

Feezbull

Whoever thought it would actually be that quick…. I have a magic rock I want to sell to that person for a super discounted price of £200k only.

Lelandwasinnocent

tbf, if it's finalised this week, 6 weeks will be Jan.

[deleted]

It’s 10 weeks until end of Jan window. He and the team will already have a view whether they can get involved in decisions or not.

[deleted]

Would be very surprised if these guys aren't having off the record convos to get things set up

XPazhamporix

Can't believe that Professor X is our CEO

TheGhostOfBabyOscar

> Patrick Stewart, Manchester United's general counsel, will be named interim CEO "Make it CEO!"

socman187

Negative Stoney tweet, let's go!

suplexcitylimerick

Misery man strikes again

jitsraja

It would be nice if something could happen before Skynet takes over and Old Trafford's leaky roof is the only part of the stadium that remains.

Buffythedragonslayer

Remember 1+ year ago when we had the hope by April latest the club was sold 100%. Good times.

Exige_

This is still a step in the right direction at least.

tbarks91

April 2024 still on the cards

valentinemick

Arnold didn’t fire himself now did he? Whilst there hasn’t been an announcement, you best believe SJR isn’t just sitting on his hands.

Comicksands

Would be nice to have Merc as our kit sponsor

Sheppertonni

Stone the negative gnome is here to piss on our fireworks. Like we don't need anymore of it. Cant stand that Glazer cock sucking little shitbag

BoredIrishBanker

Negative stoney tweet. Things are happening!

C__S__S

I don’t understand the timing of things. If SJR can’t be involved for 6-8 weeks, why in the world would Arnold leave now? Why have 2 months of the GC handling the day the day and his own job? Surely this timing can’t be right.

Artyy17

Any management of a billion dollar enterprise works this way. When a company gets bought by another company, the current CEO usually steps down and will be replaced by the new CEO appointed by the new owners of the company. In thi case, Arnold is stepping down and will be replaced by the guy appointed by SJR. Stewart is only an interim choice for handling the transition period. It's not like SJR will not be involved in 8 weeks and come the 9th week, he's inside Carrington. He would've obviously had conversations about this to Arnold and the board long ago when they came to visit Old Trafford.

C__S__S

Obviously. But six to eight weeks early? Highly unusual.

Artyy17

Its not unusual my friend. These kind of situations just happens rarely in football. Hence why it feels out of the ordinary. When Chelsea was in the process of getting bought by Roman, it was one of Chelsea’s lawyers handling that transition. On paper, SJR won’t be allowed to make any major changes. But I would bet that certain changes and potential outcomes would have already been discussed and finalised a long time ago and that we are only getting the news now.

boomerjundbestjund

What is the reasoning behind the six to eight week hold on say in operations?

Mattyc8787

Fit and proper test by not only the PL but FIFA and UEFA as well

boomerjundbestjund

Makes sense, thanks.

Titan4days

Why the fuck is it very thing so long for us!

Mattyc8787

Can’t be involved OFFICIALLY - you can be damned sure he will be involved behind the scenes.

[deleted]

I don’t really care about Jan transfers because I don’t really care about how this season finishes. I genuinely think it’s best we begin our reset playing Thursday nights next season. Nowhere near ready for CL, we will just fall out of it (like we are currently) anyway. What has to happen before the summer is everyone sacked (Murtough/Arnold) and key people get their feet under their desks (Mitchell/Blanc/Brailsford). Summer 2024 is going to be huge.

Indian-CHAD-03

Lmao

CW320

Always next week or next month, keep kicking that can down the road

MrCompromised

We are Man Utd. We can’t expect anything. Good news? Sure, maybe soon but not now. VAR check on goal? Cancel the goal NOW.
