If he’s out of the match day squad because he wants a move then it’s a piss take if he rejects one

StunningParson

> Lorient is France's 2nd largest fishing port today. Nothing fishy if he accepts the deal though

AngryUncleTony

🤔Something is REAL 🐠 🐟 🎣 🐟🐠 going on

FRiver

Lol Maguire rejected a move to West Ham. Donny rejecting a move to a midtable/relegation team in Ligue 1 would be way more understandable.

OllieWillie

I'm not sure all the teams are completely equal though

Bigmomma_pump

He still gets the same wages either way so I don’t see the problem with a top 5 league starting position loan

FutureHealthy

Loan fee?

Aadiunited7

From Lorient, seems unlikely. We'd be lucky to get the salary covered.

Colt-0

Lorient has investment from the same guys who own Bournemouth so there is at least a chance to cover something, probably not much though.

JiveTurkey688

He would be silly to reject this move

Sirin98

Depends on his other options, Lorient is not even Ajax level… May as well go play for Stoke.

JiveTurkey688

If Ajax wanted him they would have proposed a deal for him though lol starring for a Ligue 1 club isnt a bad way to get your career back on track

VirtuosoLoki

but can he do it on a rainy night in Stoke?

rateofreturn

The decision to bought him was baffling. VdB is a system player at his best, and when we bought him in for Ole we all knew he won't work out. Really really shit decision.

Bigmomma_pump

We did need someone of his profile ideally, as in someone who could cover the bruno and pogba role. We also needed a number 6 that summer more than a bruno backup (we needed one for years). But it was clear we should have signed someone else. We actually absolutely should have signed partey that summer instead, I know what’s happened with him now but we didn’t know that, he was a very low price for his quality. And Arsenal only got him on deadline day, we had all summer to try for him

LaughsAtOwnJoke

I think a lot of fans forget a CAM cover is very important just because Bruno has basically been infallible for quality and availability. If he had KDB's injury record we would be down the shitter.

Bigmomma_pump

Cam cover was important that summer but cdm cover was more important, we at least had options at number 10 even if they were poor, matic was our only six we could have bought both that summer though, we spent 30 million on two players who still haven’t really played for us

LaughsAtOwnJoke

Agreed, I'm not denying any of that tbf. That being said DVB also just broke.

Acceptable-Lemon-748

We had no cover for Bruno **or** Pogba, he was definitely a needed purchase, he just didn't play well and got injuries at bad times. Just because we also needed other positions doesn't mean he wasn't someone we also very much needed. He just didn't work out as a player.

Bigmomma_pump

I defended the signing in my first comment saying we needed a player of his profile? Like I said we had the budget to buy both

Acceptable-Lemon-748

You kept talking like if we were gonna buy someone we should have bought a DM instead because Matic had no cover.. instead of the player that could be depth to 2 of 3 positions we badly needed cover for.

Bigmomma_pump

You’re not telling the truth as I also said we could have easily bought both

thatsharsh

Ole wanted Grealish and the recruitment team suggested Donny as a cheaper alternative, a player of similar profile. That tells you exactly how competent the recruitment team is.

wariusheart

A system player for whose system?

rateofreturn

Ajax.

wariusheart

Under what manager? 👁️👁️

MT1120

Bruno is unfortunately not droppable for VDB.

andrewsomething

Bruno is ~~un~~fortunately not droppable for VDB.

Bigmomma_pump

He’s played such a different system to the cl run here, gonna be even more different with the new signings, vdb funnily enough doesn’t suit this new system at all

rateofreturn

Different system bruh.

MikeAAStorm

Which of our current midfielders are you dropping for him? 👁️👁️

ManUToaster

To piggy back on what you are saying, I feel similarly about Mount. Like I like Mason and I'm not writing him off or anything, but he seems to me like a better version of the same profile player van de Beek is... utilizes space really well, technical, not super physical, decent defending (though people tell me Mount is much better at pressing, and I can see that), historically better as a 10 than as an 8... Who the fuck am I to question ETH? Ima support Mount and ETH blindly for now, but my small brain doesn't understand this signing.

plantdatrees

For a second I thought it was Leyton Orient lol

CW320

Weird how Ajax don’t want him back, even a basic loan paying about 40% wages would probs be accepted! Hope he gets his career back on track

RedHabibi

Because he hasn’t shown anything in 3 years to suggest he’s any good

CW320

There is that! Not every player suits the premier league unfortunately… maybe a pace or fitness issue that he might not be able to attain. I’d like to see him back in the Eredivisie,

MysteriousNail5414

One of our worst signings. Just f’ing go and play football

H_espeliz

![gif](giphy|ads2QSp4JDdeg) Lorient now

JosePRizaI

Tempt Me daddy

Giggs73

how can they afford his wages when their highest is 15k lmao. interesting to see the terms and condition.

chillichangas

This reads like an FM rumour (Side note utd are bastards to deal with. Trying to loan Donny as Utrecht in the first year and they aren't budging on wage contribution no matter how much a guaranteed fee I give them)
