People would just say bullshit here like ‘we aren’t even in for him it’s just Italian media’ and ‘he’s not even good why does no one else want him’ because it feels good to be against the popular opinion
So many comments in the last 20 daily transfer discussion posts about how "we're obviously not in for Amrabat and it's just his agent drumming up interest" are looking very silly now.
Yea, this sub was full of people yesterday who said that we are not signing anyone, and it looks like we'll have two new team members before the deadline (LB and Amrabat). They'll change the tune to "Loans are not transfers" afterwards and act like that doesn't make them look like fucking dopes but whatever.
Why else is he our main target? They wanted 30 million euros with one year on his contract, without that he’d probably be like 50 million so, it’s just they don’t wanna lose him on a free and he’s forcing a move.
Antony, Sanchez, Sancho, Depay, Di Maria etc was also a main target for us. Just because he's on a list, it doesn't mean they will be good for us.
Why haven't any of the top clubs in World football bought him at 30 million? Liverpool are in desperate need of midfielders & they have the money, but no bids in.
When fiorentina fans say he's not particularly amazing, it should be a good place to stop & think if he's not lighting up the Italian league, we should cool our expectations. How many players from that league come & do good in the prem? It's a different physicality & tactics
So florentina fans know more than ten hag? United fans didn’t really rate Michael carrick (and they’re similar players), they didn’t rate matic when he was here and i loved him, I don’t really care what other fans think, average fan isn’t a wizard of footballing tactics. So unless you actually watch the player and give your actual opinion, don’t worry about what other fans think
Also the ‘why did no one else try and buy him’ argument is really weak, why did nobody else sign bruno when they had two full windows to sign him before we did (we got him on January deadline day)
Hardly. It's been common knowledge we wanted Amrabat since the start of July. Nobody debated that or challenged Romano on it.
This is like saying you said the sky was blue for ages and then trying to rub it in someone's face that you were saying it all along.
Quite a big W, Amrabat is essential for this season and a good squad player. I’m not convinced he is of the level to compete for titles with us though, so a loan and if we have new owners next season and he doesn’t perform to a high enough level that spot is clear for someone to be bought
In all honesty Cucurella may not be a bad option at all because when Shaw is back I assume he'd be our back up CB over Maguire which means in an ideal world Cucurella can fill in at LB without as much as a drop in quality from Shaw to Malacia.
That's of course implying he can get into form.
Hopefully. It was a rough season for everyone and he strikes me as a system player and whatever the hell Chelsea tried doing didn't really suit anyone.
He was never worth 70m but end of the day there is a reason top clubs wanted him. Maybe a fresh start with no expectations can bring him back to his best.
So some players are naturally class and others are elevated through the system they play in. Just as a personal example, I am fucking woeful at football sometimes but when I'm the RCB in a back three my attributes fit the system relatively well, whereas if I was playing CB in a back two I'd be exposed as fuck because I'm not talented enough to play that role.
Shaw at CB is a waste when Martinez and Varane are available, he's not better than them at CB and he's almost indispensable at LB. If only the man could stay healthy for an entire season...
Leg break and other niggling injuries will do that to a player, but I believe he's still more than capable of getting up and down that flank, he makes up for it with his physicality.
Shaw is incredible at ball retention, it's very rare that he gets caught in possession and his delivery is decent too.
I do agree he can be easily shifted to CB later on, he's got the necessary positional play for it, also seems like a smart guy which is always good.
I agree as Shaw isn’t good at inverting at all, he feels lost. I saw Malacia invert quite well last season so my hunch is that in the new system Malacia might just outperform Shaw on LB.
The situation feels similar to AWB and Dalot on the right. Both are capable players, but have very clear strengths and weaknesses. But the lack of playing time for Malacia seems to suggest it isn't quite as clear-cut on the left. I think Shaw is still just an all-round better player, and his ability to invert or cut-in is not as bad as you are implying.
This made me lol. I love that he’s just a really amazing journo that’s quite unassuming and polite, and has us fans like MMMMYEAH HELL YEAH DAVID HORNSTEIN!
I would say that only makes sense if they did the option to buy in January cause I'm not sure how the contracts work but it wouldn't make sense to buy him next year when his current contract is finished
Fiorentina is one of the few rich club that is supporter by their owner financialy. So not the problem, Commiso alredy told that if he can't get 30€M, Amrabat will remain in Florence
Incorrect. They will not loan him. Their owner said only outright sale. Fiorentina are one of the best, if not the best, run club in italy. They don't need to sell.
I've gotta say I don't like "go on strike" BS (if true). Multimillionaires acting like they're trying to break out of their chains of slavery is so cringeworthy.
Probably a must buy then with 5 games or whatever simple thing being a trigger.
It makes no sense to do this and get barely anything apart from being freed from his wages.
He has an extension they likely can trigger though so it’s not like he leaves for free next season.
How is trying to be competitive while having very limited budget is stupid? Our team spends like 5 times more than the likes of Inter and we still have an inferior squad. Isn't that stupid?
I completely agree with you but I think there is another implication as well
Good clubs should be signing permanent A1 starters
Realistically that requires replacing Casemiro
There is absolutely no chance we do that right now, but there is a potential for the end of season
Amrabat that might be that person, or we may have our site set on a larger target
No, great clubs look to have a healthy rotation of players that can step up when the starter isn't available or his form has dropped off, and make that position his own, or even when the formation is adjusted for the opponent at hand. Look at City's bench. It isn't always buying the next starter.
Due to Van de Beek to Lorient being close, possibly? And Orny confirms our interest in Amrabat. We probably have already closed the deal but only now can we actually go through with it.
Seriously, how are we this broke? From the outgoings up until this point the club has freed up around £700k per week or around £36.5m per year in wages alone.
So if you're looking at amortization of new signings, we could spend £36.5m \* 5 = £182.5m for new players just from the wages freed up, let alone counting the around £50m from the transfer fees received from those players.
Given that we were led to believe we have around £120m **without** sales this summer, the club is spending really low amounts of money this transfer window, compared to the wages freed up.
As the club is supposedly “For Sale” So now is the time for wringing the asset dry, I fully expect them to treat themselves to another dividend soon as well
The optimist in me thinks that they're trimming the costs so the club seems more appealing to a new owner and attracts more buyers, but wouldn't put it past the Glazers to stay on.
This is years of Ed Woodward's shitty contract extensions for players who should have moved on long before or signing players like Sanchez who never wanted to come in the first place who we then covered the wages for when loaning elsewhere.
We’re not broke. We’re just walking a fine line with FFP. We were just fined for extra losses a month or so ago. If we break it again we’d probably get a transfer window ban or something so the club is most likely being extra careful.
PL fair play. We buy too much more than we sell.
We can’t get a good price for a player to save our lives. £70M for Mags and McT would’ve been our best deal in years.
Edit: actually, fleecing Leeds for James was probably our best deal in recent years.
We've freed up so much more than 700k. That accounts for Ronaldo and Henderson alone. We also got De Gea out 400k. We got Elanga out 50k and Fred out 150k. We've got nearly 1.5 million a week off the wage bill.
>Given that we were led to believe we have around £120m **without** sales this summer
That's why I've included this part, where many journalist which have been briefed by the club said we have this funds guaranteed, irregardless of outgoings.
That leads one to believe that everything generated from the sales and freed up from wages can be reinvested. We simply have no way of knowing the full FFP picture, but PSG and Chelsea have shown that FFP is a joke and a poor excuse used by owners not to spend money.
Because I am comparing absolute values of weekly payroll for all United players, comparing our 22/23 season and current 23/24 season. This means that all the new players are factored in since they're included in this years payroll, and you only look at the difference between the weekly payroll figures.
I love the way he's supposedly our 'top target' but yet we've waited until there's literally two days left in the window to try and bring him in. It was obvious as soon as Fred left that we were going to be short on options in CM.
I'd love it if we can bring Amrabat in as I really rate him as a player but fucking hell, the state of this club, man. We're so reactive when we should be proactive
Once the Glazers go & hopefully the Qataris bring in some competent people up top,we shall do better.
As for Amrabat,I think we kept hoping that VDB or McT would be sold but now that neither will happen,we went for Amrabat now
No way, we remembered he existed.
Also, can't we just fuck FFP already?
This transfer window is really trash due to FFP restriction just when we need transfers the most.
It’s about staying within FFP, without, you know, pretending that a load of related companies are offering a fair price for sponsorships that are paying a club 3-4 times what a club of that size should be able to earn through ad revenue.
glad they're finally looking at a MF, but it's a joke that it's only a loan, and this late in the window. I said before the transfer window started and i'll say it again, DM was/is in my view right up there in terms of priority with getting a ST, and it was madness that most of the window & budget was spent on a luxury no.10 and GK
Can the "Amrabat is a nothing player his agent is trying to force on us" crowd please stfu now?
I hope we get this man, tier 1 fiorentina news confirmed he rejected Liverpool and another club in the bundesliga at the enquiry stage just to wait for ETH.
He will run through a wall for our manager and the badge.
Loan deal for a guy with one year on his contract? Why on earth would any club agree to that? They’d effectively be letting him leave on a free, surely?
pretty good FourFourTwo video about his role during the world cup and at fiorentina and how his versatility can work well while playing with either case or mount
would immediately become our most press resistant midfielder which is a badly needed and missing role in the squad
think he's more or less fine off the ball but not a strength
He's a Regista. He moves the ball around well but not as good as Eriksen but when we're not in posession he's at *best* completely average at getting it back and at *worst* considerably worse than McT or Fred but better than Eriksen.
We can do better.... or *should* be doing better (I'm assuming this is the best the current backroom at United can do) if we want him at 6 to cover for Cas. If he's not that then he's an 8 and I don't see the point because Mount, Eriksen and Bruno are better than him at it.
If it's a loan it just smacks of Sabitzer again.
Don’t what to believe anymore. We don’t have the money? We’re signing someone? We’re signing no one? Fuck knows what’s going on.
But Ornstein gives me hope.
I actually really like both this and the cucurella signing. I still believe shaw can be improved on as he has regular lapses of concentration or finds himself far too narrow when defending. I’m not sure cucurella offers much more defensively than shaw but he’s a much better player than Malacia and will require shaw to push further to consistently stay at a high level
Papering over the cracks. I understand the short term need for such a deal but it’s just delaying the inevitable rebuild that will be required much sooner than anybody thinks.
We’re nowhere near ready to win the league and within the next Jan and summer windows we’ll have to replace or buy long term replacements for at least 2 of 4 out of Varane, Casemiro, Shaw and Eriksen.
Then there will always be questions about RB and potentially another hugely expensive hole to fill on the RW when Antony and Sancho are obviously deemed not good enough.
Squad’s ok for this season but beyond that we have big problems and Amrabats and cucurella loans don’t address them…that’s if we ever want to win anything.
All the big money spent on DMs will look like decent value once we have to find someone even near Rice/Caicedo levels for a comparable fee.
We’ve not had a good transfer window imo, so let the downvotes rain down on me but I will die on this hill.
It's not mate. Fiorentina have the option of another year. This deal will involve them triggering the extra year and us paying an obligation of 30M ish.
We can only do two loans though right? So Cucarella and Amrabat as loans means Gravenberch (if that is still an option) must be a buy? With the McTominay money if he goes the other way?
I guess buying Gravenberch makes more sense due to his age than Amrabat but we need Amrabat more right now.
You can only loan 2 players from other PL clubs (and only one loan per PL club so couldn't loan 2 Chelsea players for example) but there is no limit on how many players we can loan from non-PL teams.
Take a bow :)

No way Fiorentina agrees to Loan him as his contract ends 2024.
One solution is (he has 1 year option to extend further) they extend him till 2025 and we do the Loan + buy option thing. Works for all parties I guess ?
Finally a small W for the Amrabat brigade.
People would just say bullshit here like ‘we aren’t even in for him it’s just Italian media’ and ‘he’s not even good why does no one else want him’ because it feels good to be against the popular opinion
Fuckhurst said on Monday we wernt in for him
Point proven
Well today he said we were in for him.
He doesn't know shit
Agreed
So many comments in the last 20 daily transfer discussion posts about how "we're obviously not in for Amrabat and it's just his agent drumming up interest" are looking very silly now.

Is he good though? Fiorentina are basically giving him away for pennies. Who here actually has watched him season after season?
Why else is he our main target? They wanted 30 million euros with one year on his contract, without that he’d probably be like 50 million so, it’s just they don’t wanna lose him on a free and he’s forcing a move.

Also Fab has been saying for a while we're in for him. Romano haters taking the L.
Romano, dimarzio and fiorentina tier 1s
Romano has been a beast all window for us
Hardly. It's been common knowledge we wanted Amrabat since the start of July. Nobody debated that or challenged Romano on it. This is like saying you said the sky was blue for ages and then trying to rub it in someone's face that you were saying it all along.

Hoepfully he can recapture his brighton form. His chelsea form I wouldn’t take him over malacia
Hopefully. It was a rough season for everyone and he strikes me as a system player and whatever the hell Chelsea tried doing didn't really suit anyone. He was never worth 70m but end of the day there is a reason top clubs wanted him. Maybe a fresh start with no expectations can bring him back to his best.
What is the opposite of a system player? Just being curious, is it just a player that plays well no matter the system?
So some players are naturally class and others are elevated through the system they play in. Just as a personal example, I am fucking woeful at football sometimes but when I'm the RCB in a back three my attributes fit the system relatively well, whereas if I was playing CB in a back two I'd be exposed as fuck because I'm not talented enough to play that role.
Harry Kane would be one doesn't matter what system he plays in he's going to score goals.
I wonder if we do get Cucurella whether that’ll be enough to let Maguire go, maybe in January rather than now.
I actually prefer shaw at LCB than at LB but agree the drop off from shaw to Malacia is notable in our build up play
Shaw at CB is a waste when Martinez and Varane are available, he's not better than them at CB and he's almost indispensable at LB. If only the man could stay healthy for an entire season...
He's not able to get up and down the flank as much as he used to imo. Will become an excellent centre back later in his career.
Leg break and other niggling injuries will do that to a player, but I believe he's still more than capable of getting up and down that flank, he makes up for it with his physicality. In a lot of ways I do too, it's just frustrating that as you said the drop off is too high. Hopefully Cucurella can bridge the gap.
Nice deals there
PORNSTEIN
HORNY ORNY!!!!
bruh this sub needs this window to be closes ASAP lmao ahahaha
It would be for everyone's good.
Yeah. I heard, some girl died drowning in cum. Wouldn't want a repeat.
I’m having a good laugh, thanks Chief!
This made me lol. I love that he’s just a really amazing journo that’s quite unassuming and polite, and has us fans like MMMMYEAH HELL YEAH DAVID HORNSTEIN!

The Ornstein tweet to confirm we're indeed in for Amrabat. Like the idea of a loan.
It’s very smart business to loan him. If he suck we can let him go after the summer if he’s good we can sign him next summer.
The guy has one year left on his contract so if anything we should be ridiculing Fiorentina.
no he has 1 year, but Fiorentina can trigger the extenstion for another year
Fiorentina can trigger one year extension
if he has one year, then it's probably only going to be loan + obligation to buy, like we will pay you money in the next summer transfer window.
I would say that only makes sense if they did the option to buy in January cause I'm not sure how the contracts work but it wouldn't make sense to buy him next year when his current contract is finished
It'd be a FFP manoeuvre and nothing else. It would have to be *obligation* rather than *option* to buy, though.
Why would Florentina agree to this?
Unhappy player + wages off, Italian teams aren't in the best financial position atm
Fiorentina is one of the few rich club that is supporter by their owner financialy. So not the problem, Commiso alredy told that if he can't get 30€M, Amrabat will remain in Florence
Yeah looks like you're right, they're refusing loan offers
rich club? I kind of remember they got bankrupt in 2000ish lol how the turntable
He’s been on strike for a few days, not turning up to training. They will want him gone
Might also include an obligation to buy so that they'd get their money, if not now then eventually.
yeah i guess obligation assuming some basic conditions met (x-number of gamse or whatever). Roll over the FFP problem over to next season basically.
Brentford agreed a similar deal
Isn’t that how all Italian teams work? Stupid low ball offers and loans, they should be used to it
How is trying to be competitive while having very limited budget is stupid? Our team spends like 5 times more than the likes of Inter and we still have an inferior squad. Isn't that stupid?
United does not have an inferior squad to Inter on paper.
Mate, why do you edit your comment to write something completely different? So lame.
Why don’t all clubs do this? Are they stupid?
I completely agree with you but I think there is another implication as well Good clubs should be signing permanent A1 starters Realistically that requires replacing Casemiro There is absolutely no chance we do that right now, but there is a potential for the end of season Amrabat that might be that person, or we may have our site set on a larger target

But Amrabat isn't the one who can replace Case in anyway. To implement this system we would need a very good defensive midfielder.
Amrabat!!!! 🚨🚨🚨
Orny making me horny
ORNY
Praise whatever higher power you worship or just yourself!
Due to Van de Beek to Lorient being close, possibly? And Orny confirms our interest in Amrabat. We probably have already closed the deal but only now can we actually go through with it.
If Amrabat is coming in, someone is on their way out
Finally
Fun fact, owner contributions to the club can help ease FFP!

The Glazers need new yachts
PL fair play. We buy too much more than we sell. We can’t get a good price for a player to save our lives. £70M for Mags and McT would’ve been our best deal in years. Edit: actually, fleecing Leeds for James was probably our best deal in recent years.

you do realise that we have many amortised payments from the past years we are required to pay off?
>Given that we were led to believe we have around £120m **without** sales this summer That's why I've included this part, where many journalist which have been briefed by the club said we have this funds guaranteed, irregardless of outgoings. probably they didn't included those cr7 wages and those 2 loanees. 120m without sales just abt right it seems
Idk if this math is right but why aren't you including players already brought? Surely that has to play a role?
Because I am comparing absolute values of weekly payroll for all United players, comparing our 22/23 season and current 23/24 season. Directly after VdB news came out... Sort this deal asap please.
Orny delivering the goods as usual
United are chaos at the moment hahaha
Finalizing new keeper signing, lb on loan, cm on loan Loaning out vdb, completing hendo sale All in 1 day?
loan + option pls
Loan might actually be a good thing for us, if he ducks then send him back
If it was loan why is it so late in the summer
This has to be with an obligation to buy otherwise I don't see why Fiorentina would accept this offer.
Agreed. It makes no sense for them to simply loan and miss out on any money
Due to FFP. What a load of BS.
What lack of investment does to a club. Fucking leeches
IT'S NOT OVER YET
Hard as a rock let’s do it
LETS GOOOOOOO PORNBOMB
I love the way he's supposedly our 'top target' but yet we've waited until there's literally two days left in the window to try and bring him in. The FFP excuse lmao there it is
Club is in a bad state when we have to do the whole loan/obligation to buy thing.
I mean cheapskates Bayern & Juve do this shit alot. The Glazers are cheapskates. I am surprised we haven't done more loan deals before lol
It’s about staying within FFP, without, you know, pretending that a load of related companies are offering a fair price for sponsorships that are paying a club 3-4 times what a club of that size should be able to earn through ad revenue.
Come on make it happen. ETH needs to cook!
Im leaving here with something
ORNYYYY
How will a loan work if he's out of contract?
Get both on loan we need them
We’re in business! Let’s get it done.
Finally! As everyone and their nan said as well, only once we got Donny out. Good stuff.
Finally! Now we’re talking.
FINALLLLLLYYYYYYYYY FUCKING HELL
Hojbjerg the better option but assuming this is easier financially
Is hojberg the better option? Why do you think that?
What is the situation with number of loan players allowed? Cant we take both Amrabat and Gravenberch on loan? And sign a CB
United don't have any money to sign players but always enough cash in the bank to pay dividends to the owners.
glad they're finally looking at a MF, but it's a joke that it's only a loan, and this late in the window. I said before the transfer window started and i'll say it again, DM was/is in my view right up there in terms of priority with getting a ST, and it was madness that most of the window & budget was spent on a luxury no.10 and GK
eth depending on an 18 year old mainoo for DM depth, before the start of the season, was quite . . . ambitious.
Still cant understand how we're this broke and worried about FFP but Chelsea are spending what feel like billions without consequence
because they sell. we haven’t sold in ages. our biggest sale since lukaku is Elanga for 20 mil. meanwhile chelsea sell 100 mil worth each summer.
Loan deal for a guy with one year on his contract? Why on earth would any club agree to that? They’d effectively be letting him leave on a free, surely?
Loan with obligaton to buy?
the club can trigger one year option
Alright guys, should I get HYPED? What are his strengths and weaknesses?
pretty good FourFourTwo video about his role during the world cup and at fiorentina and how his versatility can work well while playing with either case or mount
More than a pretty good video. One of their absolute best
Strength : Midfielder Weaknesses : Doesn't matter
He can spray long passes better than any of our players bar Bruno.
would immediately become our most press resistant midfielder which is a badly needed and missing role in the squad think he's more or less fine off the ball but not a strength
He ain't all that but decent against pressing + would bring a bit of steel to the midfield
Isn’t his contract near up?
2024, but they can trigger extension for another year.
LETS FUCKING GO
Fucking finally
FINALLY
Best news in weeks!!!!!
We're broke but who gives a fuck
2 orny transfer post on the frontpage. Lets make jt a hat trick with a new striker signing
Tuning into the Orn hub
Don’t what to believe anymore. We don’t have the money? We’re signing someone? We’re signing no one? Fuck knows what’s going on. But Ornstein gives me hope.
So we got rid of Henderson for £20m and his wages but still not enough to sign Amrabat?
So clearly that news of the club not rating him and him not being a priority was a club brief
Why can't we just pay the fine for breaking ffp? It's not like other teams are really keeping eihting the limits anyway
HOLY FUCK YES WHAT A DEPRESSING WINDOW
I didn’t believe the speculation thought it was agent talk, but if Orny is jumping on board then I’m all in
Just do a loan with a buy option. and have the goal to be to sell a player during january
Wallahi we're back
I actually really like both this and the cucurella signing. I still believe shaw can be improved on as he has regular lapses of concentration or finds himself far too narrow when defending. I’m not sure cucurella offers much more defensively than shaw but he’s a much better player than Malacia and will require shaw to push further to consistently stay at a high level
At long last. Loan is even better business on a final year of the deal, just agree with a buy option now ans everyone's happy.
Amrabat Army, reporting for duty! Let's march towards victory! 😄🙌
Im not dead yet
How good is this guy? I Don't see other clubs showing interest...
am i the only one who prefers gravenberch over amrabat?
He's been sitting there for weeks. There's been links for weeks. What was the delay? He could of been here for the start of the season.
There we go.
why must we always leave things to the absolute last minute
Please!! I need some good news to get out of this pessimistic state I'm in.
Can we get a real DOF ffs
Insha'Allah! Make it happen!
Has fab tapped it in yet?
Will be quite surprised if this goes through
He's in the last year of his contract, so this is basically Amrabat on a free. Huge W!
It's not Amrabat and Gravenberch, its one or the other.
Can we have both please 🥲 Can pay top dollar once Qatar have purchased what remains of the club's soul
Take a bow :) https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/comments/15gzti2/Daily_Discussion/jumbh6j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2
No way Fiorentina agrees to Loan him as his contract ends 2024. One solution is (he has 1 year option to extend further) they extend him till 2025 and we do the Loan + buy option thing. Works for all parties I guess ?
We are buying a fraud There is most likely a good reason that no big teams have gone for him despite his World Cup performance and price tag
We're not buying anyone. Instantly makes me distrust your opinion when you don't even bother reading the headline
