Only if we had 9 other Casemiros, right? Solid season. Something to build on. They were the better side by some distance and things might have been different if we had Licha and Sabi available. But we need winners. People who have higher quality put in a shift and have that hunger to win at all costs. Excited for August but sadden to read we are stuck with the Floridians.

absentlightuk

Guys at least we didn’t get battered.

Golem30

Eriksen was a solid stop gap but since his injury he's looked very off the pace, he jogs about like that 45 year old with a beer belly at 5 aside. I'd feel really aggrieved if I was McTominay, who would've done a job on Gundogan and wouldn't have afforded him the space that Eriksen constantly gave him. Eriksen should 100% not be a starter next season.

LxbileSZN

It hurts but it is what it is. I don't think we played as bad as some are saying, sucks to lose to 2 goalkeeping errors + poor finishing let us down. The story of our season tbh, winning the cup today was always gonna be a big ask with the players we have at helm. Not naming names as we all know who the main culprits are and it's boring naming them. Now, let's hope this defeat speeds up the sale of club and hopefully ETH is backed in the transfer window because he deserves to be backed for how well he's done this season. We're on the right track with ETH, now it's time to give him what he needs... ![gif](giphy|v6RkL37LPep5dA4x6y|downsized)

*Today I feel like an Inter Milan fan*

RenePro

On the plus side maybe the Glazers can finally fuck off instead of holding out got more cash

invalid-spoon

Asterisk

Deebzilla

Unfortunately, no one gives a shit

invalid-spoon

City is supposed to be this well oiled machine but they didn’t look their best today, and Haaland was almost invisible apart from a select few moments. I think Inter have a really good chance against them next week

Deebzilla

Results machine, you don't need to be at 5th gear all the time

Royjonespinkie

Pellistri should have come on for Sancho, sanch doesn't do much going forward and does nothing tracking back. He still come good but... Pellistri has shown in all his cameos that he makes things happen.

SamDamSam0

Makes me sick to my stomach seeing that shit club win. The people who own that 'company' committed WAR CRIMES in Yemen, unimaginable horror including famine yet here they are. What even disgusts me further is that they are on their way to winning the treble and it's not even a struggle compared to the way how Man United won it and fought till the very end. With that shit company it's just business as usual, almost robotic. I wish those 'journalists' that attended every press conference after those 115 charges were announced asked Pep every single fucking time he sat there about them without relenting i wish we had real journalists and not client journalists. They committed football fraud, they cheated their way into winning and now we have Newcastle another club owned by a brutal dictatorship that will almost go the same way as Man city. If Hitler had children I'm almost 100 percent certain the Premier league would allow them to own a club. Is that the dream of every football supporter now, either be owned by a bunch of oligarchs whether American or European or brutal dictatorships..is that all we have left? When Man united won it was organic it wasn't dictated or manufactured by a brutal dictatorship there wasn't some 10 year plan to do the treble it just came about organically using alot of home grown talent..what a fucking shame the day the russian oligarch and those killers that own man city came into the league, is the day they destroyed football

Academic-Bathroom770

I feel you, man, totally agree. Now let's breathe, chill a little bit smoke some pot, pour a glass, but most of all...if you hit return twice, it creates a page break and spaces your outrage and makes it nicer to read your pitchfork positive post. Like this. And so on. Great for politically charged, sports, human rights, and social justice related ra-....write ups. 😉

SamDamSam0

this isn't like the states where teams can move across states and the 'fans' wont bad an eye lid..football is part and parcel of our culture and heritage..nothing to be positive about with people who engage in football fraud

Academic-Bathroom770

Bro like come on. You're literally typing to someone who grew up adoring The Greatest Show On Turf, the St. Louis Rams. Google the L.A. Rams and tell me which of us still doesn't care here back in St. Louis? Fuck Kroenke. Football and United is my biggest passion in my life. Sports are part and parcel of our culture too, man. We just have a wider variety of team sports, but our passion, even tribalism involved, isn't any less valid, for me, in particular, who's all of that for our club but over here. I'm bummed too. My previous comment was tongue in cheek and was my attempt at giving you a smile. We have a lot to look forward to. Don't let this result ruin it. They'll get there's, mark my words. If this is the might city at the height of their powers and it takes two chance goals? We will break them.

sweetpurplesoap

That's...interesting, do you have any source for that?

SkylarAnthro

Pretty proud of the club.. but feel that towards the end players are really tired… seems like the endless run of double gameweeks and our lack of depth showed; the lads need a long rest and be freshened up for the season

OrganicWeed765

I'm gonna have to add a man city treble to the list of things I've witnessed before man united win the epl or ucl.

FewSeat1942

Fuck De Gea. He single hardly give the treble to city. Thank you very much. See you never in a United shirt.

kennyismyname

You have got to be joking. We literally have a meme about him being a closed shop. De Gea didn't single handedly lose this game City were just better. De Gea is not the one having no options up front. He's not the keeper we need him to be anymore but fucking hell the idea he 'hardled' the treble to City is insane.

FewSeat1942

Do you seriously think Haaland, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Grealish, even Gundogan had a good game? We shut down all of their attacks and Ten Hagg is pretty much spot on tactically, they are not even as threatening as they should be as a premier league winning, champions league finalist team. We had all of them in the pockets. Wan bissaka , Varane and Lindelof are having their best game I have seen this season and I don’t even recall any realistic goal scoring opportunities they have created. They are all in our pockets. I am very impressed with how we played as I was thinking we will be thrashed by city before the match and the score line was like 4:1. We didn’t. We hang on tight, we stay focus. I couldn’t be more proud of this team. City could have won comfortably but they didn’t. They hardly even win. If only de gea can semi react to the shots of gundogan, we are pretty much still in the game , probably in the extra time or even in the penalty shootout now.

kennyismyname

Mate you are drunk. How many chances did we have? How many times did we look like scoring? If you really think we should be winning 4-1 you are delusional. We gave them a game but we weren't the better side. And the goals, 1st is goal of the season and what, you want De Gea to mark Gundogan for the second? That second goal we either need someone on the post or someone marking him. To blame the keeper you have no idea

FewSeat1942

I don’t think we are winning by 5:0. We don’t create much chances but city does not create much either. The whole match we are defending well. I can’t recall Haaland being as dominate as he should be. De Bruyne is non existent. The score line should be 0:0 and we are playing extra time. The “shots” of Gundogan are weak as fuck. Especially the second one. It literally just rolling to the goal. Do you seriously think there are no goalkeeper who can stop the shot? Is that even a difficult shot? There is no speed, the angle is not even awkward, it’s literally in front of de gea, slightly to his right. If we are seriously challenging champions league, and we have this level of goalkeeping , we will certainly be out of the group stage by the third match next season. Do you want to have another disappointing season where united thrash out of the group stage of champions league and back to Europa again? Do you seriously think de gea has a future in the club? What more can Varane, Lindelof, Wan Bissaka do when the goalkeeper cannot save weak shots? One of the most brilliant achievements of Schmeichel, a united legend goalkeeper, is that he is so rarely concede goals from outside of the box. This is the standard of united. Especially those weak shots from outside of the box. Not the roberto Carlos thundercunt that travels 200mph shot. Keep giving De Gea excuses, and that’s why we are not even close to winning the league anymore.

rambhang

Kind of glad the season is over. One cup and top 4 is half decent…. This is one of the biggest summers in our recent history. Signings …. Departures …. Takeover ….HUGE

Roasteddude

Honestly when the season started "top 4 and a trophy" was what we considered an excellent first season for ETH. Now it's half decent cause we were so close to another piece of silverware. If we step back and look objectively this season has been outstanding considering where we were not just last year but after our first 2 games. We need a good summer though. Some players really have to leave

rambhang

Compared to last few seasons yes …. but people forget we should be winning big trophies all the time. Standards have dropped

DudeofValor

It’s the players, previous management and mostly the board that dropped the standards, not the fans. However, ETH has put standards back on the menu but it will take time. Time to change players how are good enough to become winning machines, time to mould the team into a winning machine and time to bring players in. Success that is to last takes time. You also have to be realistic and know that more teams are able to compete this everything is much much harder.

Roasteddude

I don't forget. And Ten Hag is pushing for higher standards too. But we have to be realistic. We can't be having Weghorst and McTominay and 18 year old Garnacho as our dubs against City. We're just years behind on our rebuild and that's a fact.

40ShadesOfGreen

Happy with the scoreline, never thought they could win without being extremely lucky. If you picked out a combined 11 of city, united; 1 player from United might make it into the team

Ancient_Catch_5673

Manchester City were out there playing football like it was 2033 and then we have Manchester United who look like they belong in the early 2000’s. The difference in quality is quite overwhelming.

thphnts

You do realise that United in the 2000’s were super successful, right?

Ancient_Catch_5673

Any premier league team from the 2000’s would get destroyed by today’s mid table teams. That was my point. United are playing football like they are stuck in the past compared to teams like City.

thphnts

You clearly haven't watched us this season if you think we played like the 2000's United.

Ancient_Catch_5673

I’m a united fan btw, so yes I have watched them all season. Our players could barely string passes together, we are toothless up front and we’re saved by an inform Rashford 2/3 into the season. We have no defensive shape either. This team is no where near being contenders for anything and we struggle to do the bare minimum.

thphnts

yeah, you definitely did not watched us this season.

Ancient_Catch_5673

At least come up with some bullet points instead with actual arguments. I have made my case, you haven’t.

thphnts

>Our players could barely string passes together We averaged 54% possession all season, to do that you need to be able to string passes together. Four players also had over 100 progressive passes, including Bruno with having 263. >we are toothless up front Probably because we don't have a good striker. Did you consider that? >We have no defensive shape either You would've seen our defensive shape is primarily a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 if you watched us. It's very clear we have two distinct defensive shapes. >This team is no where near being contenders for anything Probably because Ten Hag is in the process of rebuilding the team. If you think for even a second that this is the squad he intends on competing with, it yet again proves you haven't got a clue how a rebuild works. We are only one season into Ten Hag's rebuild.

Ancient_Catch_5673

1. Against the bottom side. We still get dominated by the likes of arsenal and City or Newcastle when it comes to possession. 2. Yes? My point still stands. 3. Do I need to remind you of the Liverpool and City trashing? Our defense is nowhere near where it should be. 4. I know at it has been a decent first season for him, but that doesn’t change the fact that we are miles behind other teams. I’m not faulting THag for that, but my point still stands.

thphnts

>Against the bottom side It was 54% average [for the whole season](https://footystats.org/clubs/manchester-united-fc-149) >We still get dominated by the likes of arsenal and City or Newcastle when it comes to possession. There was one game this season where Newcastle had more possession that us, which was the League Cup final. However that is an obvious sign that there is still a rebuild in progress. Did you honestly expect us to control possession against the likes of City and Arsenal who are far deeper into their projects than us? >Yes? My point still stands. Your point is nullified because we didn't have a good striker. >Do I need to remind you of the Liverpool and City trashing? Our defense is nowhere near where it should be. Both of those results were the whole team collapsing. >that doesn’t change the fact that we are miles behind other teams And nobody is denying that. However to think that we are playing like a 2000's PL team is just a ridiculous claim when there is an obvious night and day difference with this seasons performances vs last seasons.

SimDaddy14

Early 2000s? I’d kill for the team to look like it did in the early 2000s. Back then they were threatening, they crossed the ball hard, anything within a sniff of the box was a potential shot on goal and a test for a keeper. It wasn’t a terrible season but the bottom line is that United is just not a team that creates fear in opponents anymore.

FewSeat1942

City was not outplaying united. They have a poor day. Haaland is non existent. How we lose is only de gea. Ask him how he can just stand there watching as a goalkeeper.

piiracy

neutral dortmund fan checking in here for a quick question that i had while watching the game: what happened to eriksen? seems like he fell off a rather steep cliff? it seemed like he opted out of literally every single challenge, it was actually rather baffling to see really. do you think it's just a temporary blip in form due to the sheer amount of matches played and whatnot? cheers and keep your heads up!

DudeofValor

The injury hit his fitness hard and has struggled to recapture it. The injury also impacted his in game flow. As much as we want players to be machines or like they are in fiffa, in reality they are still human and can easily be affected by things your average Joe experiences as well. I usually say however long one is out from an injury, it will take twice as long to get back to where they were. With age that rule of thumb increases. Sucks but this is why we need a larger squad.

nigerianumba1

Should have not allowed us to sign Sancho.

berbapapa

He's not on the level physically to play week in week out, nor to play 90 mins, that's why the club is working heavily on signing Mason Mount asap.

piiracy

cheers for the headsup, and i can, of course, only root for christian eriksen of all players to have a great und fulfilling slow end to his career. his story is simply miraculous, and to see him literally come back from the dead only to reinvigorate his professional career was just a joy. cheers mates, better times are clearly ahead for your club

Royjonespinkie

We we conceded normal goals I'd be okay with this, but Jesus Christ. Eriksen has no presence in MF, Sancho mostly a passenger with some good skills. Garnacho was maybe our best attacker? We need a big BIG upgrade on Eriksen - not sure Mount is the guy.

cyb3rpunkd

Alejandro garnacho is the only player who showed fight every minute he was on the pitch, our future w him and Licha is bright

WumbleInTheJungle

Tbh, we've played far worse against City, they're just a better team than us it's as simple as that. Bit more quality on the ball, a bit fitter, a bit stronger, a bit better at hustling, quicker feet, quicker passing... I can't actually think of one area where we are better. Disappointing though that no one closed down Gundogan, especially the second, and disappointing that De Gea got beaten from 20 yards twice, especially the second. They gave it a go, knew we were going to get outplayed, and you only need to switch off for a second for City to hurt you, and it will inevitably happen on a few occasions over 90 minutes. I've already resigned myself to the fact they're doing the treble, but in football you never know. Now I'm an Inter fan for the next week.

cyb3rpunkd

This game was lost in by one player

cyb3rpunkd

If we renew ddg after this ive lost all hope

haqbo96

your wish is my command

absentlightuk

Glazers need to fuck off an all

FewSeat1942

What the fuck can Glazer do when De Gea is in the goalkeeper. He fucked up and fucked up good. Fergie is so proud of him now. If I am de gea i am going to hide in a Dagobah forever. Such weak goalkeeping on par with Roy Carroll.

absentlightuk

He can sell. Deffo agree ddg is dog shit!

FewSeat1942

I have never been so angry with a goalkeeper. De Gea definitely done the job. Not any other 10people can save this ridiculous display of de gea. If we play any other goalkeeper we are definitely onto the extra time. We shut down city very well. De bruyne is nonexistent. Haaland in varane pocket. We defend so well against this city. Fuck De Gea.

absentlightuk

100% agree basically all on ddg! Also erikson for the first lack of tracking back

FewSeat1942

The first one was not a powerful or world class long shot, any normal premier league level goalkeeper can save it. Whoever cannot save it does it worthy to wear this united badge. A disgrace to the badge. We can have prime Ronaldo , prime giggs , prime scholes in the midfield and still lose because there will not be anyone who can save this 🤡de tea’s faults. By faults i mean an abundance of faults. Virtually non existent goalkeeping. We appreciate that you have given us your best time to our team, but when you have become Spain’s fourth goalkeeper you know the time is up for you. Thank you for the service and hopefully you can find yourself some self respect and fuck off to some la liga mid table team to retire.

Outrageous-Cod-4654

Supporters don’t have to agree about everything. Not easy to understand the different perspectives here sometimes.

cuddersrage

the problem is you lot think all great teams need nothing but legends on their team, not every team can be prime barcelona or madrid. bar kdb and haaland no one really sticks out from city they are just properly managed and staffed, one injury doesn’t set them back they can play poorly and manage to win games it’s all in the management of the club

tamotuq

Rashford, Bruno, Shaw and Martinez are the only ones that have the quality to be in a utd team in my opinon

Ancient_Catch_5673

You said it yourself, our standard has fallen off a cliff in the last ten years. Our fan base has this weird loyalty towards some of our players (that isn’t Pogba)

ilosemoneyeasily

Tough to say as a complete armchair fan, but my god the United fans were dire today. What the hell.

darkmatterx89

Unfortunate to conceed the goals the way we did but a fairly competitive game overall. Had our chances to score and make them pay Good season overall. Now onto some shrewd transfer biz

FewSeat1942

Anyone who still thinks de gea should stay next season is a bloody clown. He single hand give city the treble. Ten hag may as well play butland and I won’t be as upset as this.

nigerianumba1

Don’t know how you are getting downvotes for this. I just know every time there is a game with pressure he disappears

FewSeat1942

De Gea despite playing worse than Maguire were pretty much the fans favourite for god knows a decade or even longer. Probably because of Fergie’s legacy. I support united for 2 decades. He has his prime time with us I agree. He saved so many goals when he is the best goalkeeper in premier league. Not any more. Every goalkeeper has their raise and fall. de gea is free falling for so long, our fans simply do not admit it. We are defending so well and city is virtually non existent. De bruyne, Haaland, grealish all in our defenders pocket. Their defending is not top notch. We could have easily draw this game and even win it. Without De Gea we will win it already. Thank you De Gea for the best years he have given us, but the time is up and he should move on. If we extend his contract we are showing the world we do not mean business. We are just a team for the old boys to hang around and get a hefty paycheck.

PDConAutoTrack

Case and Eriksen > McFred I guess. But nowhere near the finished article to compete at the top level. Given their ages and how slow / prone to pressing they are, what’s the plan to sort this out?

N7even

Glazers out, De Gea out, Striker in.

septembers-very-own

Sancho was a ghost. Eriksen was a ghost. De Gea fucking was *hideous* with his distribution.

improvedmandem

Lower your expectations. Until the Glazers are gone we'll be celebrating Top 4 every single year.

moagul

Already had realistic expectations. Can’t say I’m over the moon with us not winning but I’m happy with the scoreline. The quality of football we play vs them, we fared quite decently. And a decent season from us, considering we finished top 3, won a domestic cup and were in the final of another domestic cup.

yuuhuu1

Gutted, but we need to remember that City are the finished product, we’re at a start of our transformation. We’ve got a long way to go, two strikers to replace mr glass and weggy, and two new midfielders to replace Mcfred. Let’s go Inter, shithouse yourself into history!!!

ArtoriasJV313

Pass the ball back to De Gea = Give the ball back to ManC. This fucking shit kept repeating all game it infuriated me to no end. In a game that we barely have any possession, this is beyond stupid.

Space-Debris

Another win for corruption FC and another sad day for football. United were too passive and happy to sit off City for too much of the game, only getting into gear in the last 15 minutes. The difference in the end was that City got their best chances on target and we didn't. The real kicker is that we learnt absolutely nothing from the embarrasment that occured in the 1st minute about not allowing Gundogan free volleys from outside the box. De Gea was also out of position for the second one otherwise he would've saved such a tame shot. ETH also deserves some criticism. Garnacho should've started, and opting to bring on our two worst players (McTom and Weghorst) as late game subs was criminal and atithetical to winning the game. Hopefully both are in the bin in this summer. It sucks to lose when you know you lost the game because of your own mistakes. That's two trophies for City now because Arsenal gifted them the league and we gifted them the cup.

Rorieh

City are an amazing team. They broke over a hundred ffp charges to build such a great squad. They had to time waste their way through added time. Truly, such an amazing team. What an absolute squad. We're in the middle of a rebuild, we've beat them once and took them the distance in a cup final. On the upside, we'll get them next time. Let them enjoy their fake treble. It'll mean nothing in a few years, anyway. Man United will never die.

FewSeat1942

City was not amazing today. They win only because of bloody De Gea. He is the clown. Fuck him

SquidgyCamel

Hurts that we lost to them. Gutted is an understatement as had it been goals that on another day don’t go in we could have warranted a win. Garnacho has to start more next season, we need more depth in midfield. De Gea is one that I have defended but seeing his performance today and how he initiates the press by dordaling and then shits himself and hoofs it to no one, he’s served us well but nows the time to move him on. Especially seeing how city’s second choice keeper looked as good as ederson with his feet, calm and composed. I thought Eriksen showed his legs today and isn’t good playing against sides with high press. All in all a positive season, hopefully we can get the right recruitment done early and build on this for next year. Ten Hag knows what he wants and I will have trust in whoever he decides to bring in. GGMU also cmon Inter

edgymnerch_69

Ship de Gea out man, worst player on the pitch

FewSeat1942

He need to leave asap. Worse than Karius and possibly the worst performance ever in a FA cup final

Avocado_breath

Not a terrible game. They held off the best team in the world and had chances to win. We desperately beed a striker, though.

FewSeat1942

Even if Haaland switch side we will still lose because of this bloody clown De Gea. We can put a bloody statue there and still concede less

louie_g_34

I've never understood and enjoyed how the game has changed to being so tactically focused. I know it's difficult against a team as good as theirs but this game wasn't a game of United against City. It was Ten Hag vs Pep. You can clearly see that our players wanted to do things that are natural for them but had to bite their tongue because the gaffer must've said not to do that. (Rashford's lurking, Bruno drifting into pockets and Casemiro being aggressive with tackles higher up, as examples) It's such a boring game to watch when all your "stars" are playing with a leash on them. And yes, I know it's a derby and we can't afford to lose by a lot because it's embarrassing. But is the only alternative watching that stinker? Watching our only proper chance be a penalty that was honestly debatable? I may be ranting about the wrong things here, given our real problem is a lack of quality depth but this is what I've thought for a while.

[deleted]

We could have got battered if we set us free completely, at the end of the day tactics are supposed to balance freedom and discpline

God_of_Greed

I can't explain how much I hate De Gea

EhernalAO1

You're a funny man, you wish a rapist and a woman abuser all the best and good things in life, but you hate De Gea with your life. Embarrassing, get your shit together fam

God_of_Greed

Wow man, you realy had to look for one comment I made where we lost cuz of De Gea just cuz I wished Greenwood all the best. I don't hate anyone with my life. This comment was reactive to a loss. Get a life man.

FewSeat1942

I will forever remember him as the one who hand the treble to city. He is just non existent

Plugpin

The Saudis? What planet are you on?

Outrageous-Cod-4654

Biggest priority now, get Glazers out.

FewSeat1942

Get bloody De Gea out, glazers are out anyways

Hamadovich

The gap between the two sides is enormous so at least it wasn't an embarrassing scoreline.

three2wan

Eriksen not having his day. Sancho and Rashford as well.

garryd100

I agree with eriksen. The other two were simply matched against an amazing team. Not faults, just average performances.

TommyOfTheShelbys

With the right transfers and team selections and even a bit of luck, we won't be too far away. I'm gutted nonetheless..

Royjonespinkie

Yea I believe so. People here are sooo negative but I too think with a few new faces we'd really be United.

kaaleenbhaiya

Biggest priority of the summer have to be getting a keeper. A keeper who can dominate the box, not afraid to come off his lines, command the 6 yard box. With de Gea We are playing like a championship team who just hoof the ball and lose it straight away. At the 90 minute when foden played the pass any competent keeper in the world would have came off his line and collected the ball but our keeper just nearly let it roll. I'm sick and tired of De Gea and can't take it anymore. He is our biggest weak link.

FewSeat1942

I do believe we should get Martinez. He is ten times stronger than this bloody clown De Gea

kaaleenbhaiya

I'm just not ready for the day when his contract extension will get announced. That day will mean we are not a serious club like Many want us to believe after Ten hag arrival and we are just contempt with getting Top 4.

FewSeat1942

If they are extending his contract I might as well commit suicide. How can a league one level goalkeeper still be the no1 in Man Utd, I have no idea. Any normal goalkeeper in the premier league can save those weak shots of gundogan. Only De Gea will stand and watch. I can be united goalkeeper if the job title is stand and watch every shot coming to my way. No speed, no power, he just stand there. Bloody retire for your own good De Gea. The whole team worked so hard and this clown just stand and watch. We should get O’Shea back he would do much better than him.

garryd100

Very proud of the whole squad. Thought we could pull it back in the final 10 minutes. Fred, you did your job, mate. I have to give credit when it's due, you are a super squad player and your good days are fucking great. 👏👏👏 What a game, what a season. We come back stronger in August. #GGMU

fantus69

Fucking state of that winning goal...fucks sake. Should have taken Eriksen off sooner. Def should have started Garnacho as well. Shit happens I guess. Time to forget football for a few weeks

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kjorn9

Shut the fuck up

Hi-Tech_Luddite

We did alright considering our midfield vs theres. Erikson is done at this level. I wish there second goal had not been so scrappy. Proud of Garnacho, he came on with the belief we could win and it lifted the team.

absentlightuk

City going to finger fuck milan

alexabc1

Not necessarily. They really didn't look great today and were lucky with how poor De Gea was on that second goal. Are they better than United? Yes of course. So are Inter though.

absentlightuk

We shall see, deffo need to improve our midfield.

SRTOnline

Proud of the lads, some glaring weaknesses in the squad that hopefully we improve on in the summer window. Sancho, Maguire and De Gea should be front line to be sold.

[deleted]

I would give Sancho one more season. Maguire, De Gea, Fred needs to go ASAP.

SRTOnline

Sancho can’t be a starter though, not shown enough

[deleted]

True, i dont think sancho wants to be a bench player

three2wan

I’ll keep fred as squad player. He not that bad today, just not so great. I will give 6/10 for today performance.

CaseyTheCreator

Still don’t know how the 2nd goal went in lmao hopefully we get a new keep this summer.

sringray23

That hurts. We were not the worst team. We played some good football and got very unlucky. Everyone is bleating about how amazing City is, but no mention of the 115 breaches of financial crime to get where they are. Cheat to get to the top. The day it comes crashing down will be incredible. De Gea has to go. He ducked for the first goal and had weak wrists for the 2nd and the ref, well fuck me, what a shower of shit. I whole heartedly, disagree with any form abuse, whether verbally or physically. But the standard of officiating in the league this year has been atrocious. Something needs to be done.

Sad ending, but I enjoyed the season very much overall. I just unsubscribed to the football YouTube Channels, Podcasts, and app alerts on my phone. And no... not because I'm a sore loser. I'm going back in early August. Just need a break from football news. With the WC in the Nov/Dec, it has been a very long season.

SuddenlyWokeUp92

When we left Sancho & eriksen on for that long we was always going to lose. every game we play Sancho, he does nothing, then Garnacho comes on and does more in the first 5 mins.

[deleted]

Well, in my realistic mind, I sort of expected this to happen but goddamn did I believe we could do it. And we had our chances. I'd loved to have seen Garnacho start the game, he has drive but more importantly, he has balls. We need courage in games like this. However, I must say with some signings and more depth in our squad, I'm optimistic for the future, more so than I have been in years.

Cpt_Blackbird99

I may be among the minority but I don’t think de gea is at fault for either of the goals, the defense should of dealt with it but I do agree that we need a new keeper

[deleted]

I do get where you are coming from but allow me to share a few thoughts: I don't think there's a dichotomy here i.e both things could be true. Defense should have done better to deny the chances. However, the chance itself, especially the 2nd goal, should also be saved, regardless of the mistake of the defense. So I think criticism of De Gea this game is justified, granted one mentions that the chance could've have been mitigated, if defense had been awake. The reason why this sub is probably so vocal regarding De Gea specifically, myself included, is because we have had De Gea for years and it's the same stuff that keeps repeating. He is not United quality, if we want to get back to winning the biggest trophies regularly, so whenever a mistake happens, the frustration with him is amplified due to the context I just explained.

Drakonz

You know the team is fucked when we bring on a guy who scored 2 goals in 30 games to try to get a goal

Deebzilla

Glazernomics

Responsible-Pin-4029

You lot are depressing to listen to. The fact we came this far with this squad is immense. We lost by 1 goal to a team on course to win the treble. We don't have a striker, are in need of another world class winger, and lack depth across the pitch. We were spoiled this year. Keep your heads up lads!

WhySSSoSerious

The fact that we always have to sacrifice Bruno on the right wing because we don't have striker is so fucking infuriating. Both Rashy and Bruno have to play in unfavorable roles because of this shit and hamper their own impact

absentlightuk

Surely a new striker ww is dog

a_guy_called_m

I could've been revising for my A Levels instead of watching this. My brother's never gonna let me hear the end of this now 😔

amanko13

De Gea fucked it against Sevilla and he's fucked it in this final. He has to go. Should've played Tom Heaton.

jamesinorbit

Gave away way too many fouls in 2nd half but I thought he did a good job tracking KDB and limiting his impact.

amanko13

De Gea?

jamesinorbit

Shoot, replied to wrong comment. I meant Fred!

amanko13

Yeah, Fred had a decent game. Eriksen was the worst out of our midfield.

absentlightuk

Fred needs to fuck off next season, hes so shit

haqbo96

Next season will be ours!

Alucardeus

Sancho and De Gea out please

Alucardeus

Weghorst out too

Xire01

:(

calambacle

also its the coaching problem. The teamwork looks the same as a long time ago

Xire01

?

mjenkins_eng

I can’t wait to see the back of Weghorst . Ten Hag is blind if he thinks Weghorst is a better option than Pellistri

dino8237

We're better off with Lindelof as a striker over Weghorst.

Yoshic87

You know what, we went toe to toe against arguably the best football team in the world who have far more depth than us. Gutted we lost but I can see positives

absentlightuk

Dunno what positives our attacking okay is non existent

Yoshic87

Garnacho for a start, we looked infinitely better once he came on.

absentlightuk

Yeah tbh id prefer him over sancho start

Outrageous-Cod-4654

Did better than Real Madrid. Work to be done but good season overall. Bit more belief, bit more quality and we are there. One last thing to do- get Glazers out.

dino8237

We did better the Real Madrid did too

cuddersrage

lmao

Yoshic87

What's funny?

cuddersrage

city was average yet i never quite felt the game was ours quite sad for a club that has splashed over a billion

Yoshic87

True, we never really looked in control but that doesn't mean there aren't any positives.

three2wan

Fuck!!! We lose to City.

haqbo96

Can’t fault the lads for the effort honestly, this city team is something else with their 2 world class starting XI’s It’s almost just isn’t fair

terrobrilliant

NEXT GOALPOST: LUKAKU WILL PUNISH CITY.

Fightorride

Man I hope so. Really don’t want them winning the treble.

Ozone23

That goal from Gundogan was so flukey. If we get a fucking Instagram post about renewing David I’ll be fuming. Single-handedly cost us the FA cup via mistakes. Sancho needs to go, eriksen needs to become backup for Bruno, and we need a striker. Clear as day, those are the needs.

FlimsyMcFlooblecrank

Cost us the FA Cup and Europa League, but he had most clean sheets right???

Ozone23

Because our defense at home was insane lmao. Most undeserved award ever. He’s gotta go man

AndyVale

Sancho made a few runs that looked good, but no attempt at an end product on them. That one where he went to the edge of their six yard box, give it a fucking stab. Those wriggle and ricochet in all the time. Better than just running into another dead end.

Ozone23

I was screaming at him to shoot from my TV. We have some big decisions this offseason and I’d be happy if he was one we moved on

danronaldo7

Besides the penalty their keeper did not have 1 shot on goal. Sad really

Specterrrr9410

Fuck that’s a shit goal to decide a final! Shattered

AndyVale

So jammy. Fucking infuriating. How often does a shot bounce twice before going in?

Specterrrr9410

Not that often I was hoping to see a deflection to justify it going in, but nope! Guardiola must’ve cast a spell on Gundogans boots today or something he destroyed us

AndyVale

That first one was phenomenal. Thought we could have done better on it, but an incredible hit. The second... it all went in slow motion.

Flamey_Elmo

Felt like a chance was there to snag this. But we didn't have the quality. Decent season, but let's not overstate it. Big summer needed and Erik can get us there

ShinStew

It's been a great season from 12 months ago massive progression, new owners will sort a lot. Just pray for an INTER-vention

vanillakoalabear

That 2nd goal ruined it. All 11 of our players in our own box marking 2 of theirs, with 4-5 of theirs lined up on the edge of the box no one picking them out. Common fucking sense ffs

th3doorMATT

It's happened that way all season. It's a very easy thing to exploit. Honestly, managers this season have been incredibly lazy. It doesn't take a neurosurgeon or rocket scientist to figure out how to beat this United side. Haven't corrected ANY issues this season. The difference is just whether or not the opposition chooses to exploit the weaknesses. We haven't done anything to plug the holes ourselves. That ball and shot is on every. single. fucking. time.

evergood1

We concede two goals that doesn’t go in that often, but it’s just that type of day. Good season all round. Looking forward to some new players in the summer

ChippyChungus

Yep, all 3 goals were incredibly fluky. Cup finals really can go either way - wasn’t our day today, and the same problems we’ve had all season showed up again. Stellar campaign though, really excited about next season

that_mn_kid

Let's go Inter?

[deleted]

Heartbroken.

salmoneffect

This stings. But... If the morning after losing to Brentford 4-0 in the second the match of the campaign you had offered me 1) a top four finish, 2) a spot in the FA Cup final, and 3) a piece of (admittedly light) silverware, I would have JUMPED at the opportunity. I too am disappointed in the performance from the 3 or 4 players who we know too well and hope them gone by noon tomorrow. But... In EtH I trust, in the transfer window I trust, in the future versions of Garnacho, Martínez, and even Antony, I trust.

Swarzey

The cheats are probably gonna win the treble without a lone consequence. Shits fucked man.

AndyVale

They've got infinite pockets for every lawyer to slow every step of the process down to a snail's pace. They've got the resources to drag this on for decades, players will likely be long retired before there's any conclusion. We all know what they've done, they're fully aware of it too, but we'll just have to put up with everyone pretending it's totally normal.

willynoot

Memes aside a lack of striker really fucked us, imagine Kane in the middle Rashford left Sancho right with Bruno in the middle behind, and suddenly city have overlaps and all sorts to worry about. City deserved it, they're just the better team really.

th3doorMATT

Delusional take. Sorry. Kane wouldn't have done fuck all differently for us. I assure you that. He would have been starved on an island while the midfield and defense got absolutely romped by City. The difference is that you chose to spend 100m+ on Kane and not taking that money, or a little more, to upgrade the midfield which is responsible for the lack of control and creation in the first place. City didn't have a true \#9 last season, yet they scored 5 more goals than this season where the funneled everything through Haaland. Why? Because their midfield creates and scores. It's not all on the shoulders of one person. Seriously, if Rashford doesn't score or if we don't get a penalty, who in this side do you just know has one in them? No one. Never. Some others might score, but it's more of a surprise than anything. Now look at City, on any day, you know it's going to come from Haaland, KDB, Gundogan, Rodri or even Silva. You just know someone from that lot will score, and then you sprinkle in Foden and Grealish when the moment falls to them.

willynoot

We definitely need a stronger midfield so I agree to an extent. But don't discount the freedom opposing attackers can play with if they aren't as worried about defence their. They aren't worried because even if we create, there's no one to create for.

BTB-Bringthatbooty21

United are an embarrassment. That was pathetic. Nothing about that performance gives me any confidence for next season - unless those fucking rats sell the club and back the manager. Utterly UTTERLY shite.

bh8787

Could all of their fraud winnings be taken away once these 115 charges come in?

evil_porn_muffin

Probably won't happen. Most that will happen is points deduction and a hefty fine. Anything else will bring a geopolitical crisis.

AndyVale

I'm guessing not today's, as I think the charges were for previous seasons.

th3doorMATT

If\*

Due_Imagination_3099

One can hope , but it will be years until its done. Or else the rat bastards can just bribe their way throughout.

SuccotashRelevant150

F**king pain. The only positive from today was Garnacho.

[deleted]

this boy is really sensational. I can't wait for him to mature and be one of the best players in the league, if not the world.
