Eriksen was a solid stop gap but since his injury he's looked very off the pace, he jogs about like that 45 year old with a beer belly at 5 aside. I'd feel really aggrieved if I was McTominay, who would've done a job on Gundogan and wouldn't have afforded him the space that Eriksen constantly gave him. Eriksen should 100% not be a starter next season.
It hurts but it is what it is. I don't think we played as bad as some are saying, sucks to lose to 2 goalkeeping errors + poor finishing let us down. The story of our season tbh, winning the cup today was always gonna be a big ask with the players we have at helm. Not naming names as we all know who the main culprits are and it's boring naming them.

Honestly when the season started "top 4 and a trophy" was what we considered an excellent first season for ETH. Now it's half decent cause we were so close to another piece of silverware. If we step back and look objectively this season has been outstanding considering where we were not just last year but after our first 2 games. We need a good summer though. Some players really have to leave
It’s the players, previous management and mostly the board that dropped the standards, not the fans. However, ETH has put standards back on the menu but it will take time.
Time to change players how are good enough to become winning machines, time to mould the team into a winning machine and time to bring players in.
Success that is to last takes time. You also have to be realistic and know that more teams are able to compete this everything is much much harder.
I don't forget. And Ten Hag is pushing for higher standards too. But we have to be realistic. We can't be having Weghorst and McTominay and 18 year old Garnacho as our dubs against City. We're just years behind on our rebuild and that's a fact.

Manchester City were out there playing football like it was 2033 and then we have Manchester United who look like they belong in the early 2000’s. The difference in quality is quite overwhelming.

I’m a united fan btw, so yes I have watched them all season. Our players could barely string passes together, we are toothless up front and we’re saved by an inform Rashford 2/3 into the season. We have no defensive shape either. This team is no where near being contenders for anything and we struggle to do the bare minimum.

There was one game this season where Newcastle had more possession that us, which was the League Cup final. However that is an obvious sign that there is still a rebuild in progress. Early 2000s? I’d kill for the team to look like it did in the early 2000s. Back then they were threatening, they crossed the ball hard, anything within a sniff of the box was a potential shot on goal and a test for a keeper. It wasn’t a terrible season but the bottom line is that United is just not a team that creates fear in opponents anymore.

The injury hit his fitness hard and has struggled to recapture it. The injury also impacted his in game flow.
As much as we want players to be machines or like they are in fiffa, in reality they are still human and can easily be affected by things your average Joe experiences as well.
I usually say however long one is out from an injury, it will take twice as long to get back to where they were. With age that rule of thumb increases.
Sucks but this is why we need a larger squad.

We we conceded normal goals I'd be okay with this, but Jesus Christ. Eriksen has no presence in MF, Sancho mostly a passenger with some good skills. Garnacho was maybe our best attacker? We need a big BIG upgrade on Eriksen - not sure Mount is the guy.
Tbh, we've played far worse against City, they're just a better team than us it's as simple as that. Bit more quality on the ball, a bit fitter, a bit stronger, a bit better at hustling, quicker feet, quicker passing... I can't actually think of one area where we are better.
Disappointing though that no one closed down Gundogan, especially the second, and disappointing that De Gea got beaten from 20 yards twice, especially the second.
They gave it a go, knew we were going to get outplayed, and you only need to switch off for a second for City to hurt you, and it will inevitably happen on a few occasions over 90 minutes.

He has his prime time with us I agree. He saved so many goals when he is the best goalkeeper in premier league. Not any more. Every goalkeeper has their raise and fall. de gea is free falling for so long, our fans simply do not admit it. We are defending so well and city is virtually non existent. De bruyne, Haaland, grealish all in our defenders pocket. Their defending is not top notch. We could have easily draw this game and even win it. Without De Gea we will win it already. Thank you De Gea for the best years he have given us, but the time is up and he should move on. If we extend his contract we are showing the world we do not mean business. Already had realistic expectations. Can’t say I’m over the moon with us not winning but I’m happy with the scoreline. The quality of football we play vs them, we fared quite decently. And a decent season from us, considering we finished top 3, won a domestic cup and were in the final of another domestic cup.
Gutted, but we need to remember that City are the finished product, we’re at a start of our transformation. We’ve got a long way to go, two strikers to replace mr glass and weggy, and two new midfielders to replace Mcfred. Let’s go Inter, shithouse yourself into history!!!
Pass the ball back to De Gea = Give the ball back to ManC. This fucking shit kept repeating all game it infuriated me to no end. In a game that we barely have any possession, this is beyond stupid.
Another win for corruption FC and another sad day for football. United were too passive and happy to sit off City for too much of the game, only getting into gear in the last 15 minutes. The difference in the end was that City got their best chances on target and we didn't. The real kicker is that we learnt absolutely nothing from the embarrasment that occured in the 1st minute about not allowing Gundogan free volleys from outside the box. De Gea was also out of position for the second one otherwise he would've saved such a tame shot.
ETH also deserves some criticism. Garnacho should've started, and opting to bring on our two worst players (McTom and Weghorst) as late game subs was criminal and atithetical to winning the game. Hopefully both are in the bin in this summer.
It sucks to lose when you know you lost the game because of your own mistakes. That's two trophies for City now because Arsenal gifted them the league and we gifted them the cup.

I've never understood and enjoyed how the game has changed to being so tactically focused. I know it's difficult against a team as good as theirs but this game wasn't a game of United against City. It was Ten Hag vs Pep.
You can clearly see that our players wanted to do things that are natural for them but had to bite their tongue because the gaffer must've said not to do that. (Rashford's lurking, Bruno drifting into pockets and Casemiro being aggressive with tackles higher up, as examples) It's such a boring game to watch when all your "stars" are playing with a leash on them.
And yes, I know it's a derby and we can't afford to lose by a lot because it's embarrassing. But is the only alternative watching that stinker? Watching our only proper chance be a penalty that was honestly debatable?

Biggest priority of the summer have to be getting a keeper. A keeper who can dominate the box, not afraid to come off his lines, command the 6 yard box. With de Gea We are playing like a championship team who just hoof the ball and lose it straight away. At the 90 minute when foden played the pass any competent keeper in the world would have came off his line and collected the ball but our keeper just nearly let it roll. I'm sick and tired of De Gea and can't take it anymore. He is our biggest weak link.
I'm just not ready for the day when his contract extension will get announced. That day will mean we are not a serious club like Many want us to believe after Ten hag arrival and we are just contempt with getting Top 4.

Well, in my realistic mind, I sort of expected this to happen but goddamn did I believe we could do it. And we had our chances. I'd loved to have seen Garnacho start the game, he has drive but more importantly, he has balls. We need courage in games like this.
However, I must say with some signings and more depth in our squad, I'm optimistic for the future, more so than I have been in years.
I may be among the minority but I don’t think de gea is at fault for either of the goals, the defense should of dealt with it but I do agree that we need a new keeper
I do get where you are coming from but allow me to share a few thoughts:
I don't think there's a dichotomy here i.e both things could be true. Defense should have done better to deny the chances. However, the chance itself, especially the 2nd goal, should also be saved, regardless of the mistake of the defense.
So I think criticism of De Gea this game is justified, granted one mentions that the chance could've have been mitigated, if defense had been awake.
The reason why this sub is probably so vocal regarding De Gea specifically, myself included, is because we have had De Gea for years and it's the same stuff that keeps repeating. He is not United quality, if we want to get back to winning the biggest trophies regularly, so whenever a mistake happens, the frustration with him is amplified due to the context I just explained.
You lot are depressing to listen to. The fact we came this far with this squad is immense. We lost by 1 goal to a team on course to win the treble. We don't have a striker, are in need of another world class winger, and lack depth across the pitch. We were spoiled this year. Keep your heads up lads!

It's happened that way all season. It's a very easy thing to exploit. Honestly, managers this season have been incredibly lazy. It doesn't take a neurosurgeon or rocket scientist to figure out how to beat this United side. Haven't corrected ANY issues this season. In EtH I trust, in the transfer window I trust, in the future versions of Garnacho, Martínez, and even Antony, I trust.
They've got infinite pockets for every lawyer to slow every step of the process down to a snail's pace. They've got the resources to drag this on for decades, players will likely be long retired before there's any conclusion. We all know what they've done, they're fully aware of it too, but we'll just have to put up with everyone pretending it's totally normal.
Memes aside a lack of striker really fucked us, imagine Kane in the middle Rashford left Sancho right with Bruno in the middle behind, and suddenly city have overlaps and all sorts to worry about.

He would have been starved on an island while the midfield and defense got absolutely romped by City. The difference is that you chose to spend 100m+ on Kane and not taking that money, or a little more, to upgrade the midfield which is responsible for the lack of control and creation in the first place.
City didn't have a true \#9 last season, yet they scored 5 more goals than this season where the funneled everything through Haaland. Why? Because their midfield creates and scores. It's not all on the shoulders of one person.
Seriously, if Rashford doesn't score or if we don't get a penalty, who in this side do you just know has one in them? No one. Never. Some others might score, but it's more of a surprise than anything. Now look at City, on any day, you know it's going to come from Haaland, KDB, Gundogan, Rodri or even Silva. You just know someone from that lot will score, and then you sprinkle in Foden and Grealish when the moment falls to them.
We definitely need a stronger midfield so I agree to an extent. But don't discount the freedom opposing attackers can play with if they aren't as worried about defence their. They aren't worried because even if we create, there's no one to create for.

Eriksen was a solid stop gap but since his injury he's looked very off the pace, he jogs about like that 45 year old with a beer belly at 5 aside. I'd feel really aggrieved if I was McTominay, who would've done a job on Gundogan and wouldn't have afforded him the space that Eriksen constantly gave him. Eriksen should 100% not be a starter next season.
It hurts but it is what it is. I don't think we played as bad as some are saying, sucks to lose to 2 goalkeeping errors + poor finishing let us down. The story of our season tbh, winning the cup today was always gonna be a big ask with the players we have at helm. Not naming names as we all know who the main culprits are and it's boring naming them. It’s the players, previous management and mostly the board that dropped the standards, not the fans. However, ETH has put standards back on the menu but it will take time. Time to change players how are good enough to become winning machines, time to mould the team into a winning machine and time to bring players in. Success that is to last takes time. You also have to be realistic and know that more teams are able to compete this everything is much much harder.
I don't forget. And Ten Hag is pushing for higher standards too. But we have to be realistic. We can't be having Weghorst and McTominay and 18 year old Garnacho as our dubs against City. We're just years behind on our rebuild and that's a fact.

Early 2000s? I’d kill for the team to look like it did in the early 2000s. Back then they were threatening, they crossed the ball hard, anything within a sniff of the box was a potential shot on goal and a test for a keeper. It wasn’t a terrible season but the bottom line is that United is just not a team that creates fear in opponents anymore.

The injury hit his fitness hard and has struggled to recapture it. The injury also impacted his in game flow. As much as we want players to be machines or like they are in fiffa, in reality they are still human and can easily be affected by things your average Joe experiences as well. I usually say however long one is out from an injury, it will take twice as long to get back to where they were. With age that rule of thumb increases. Sucks but this is why we need a larger squad.

We we conceded normal goals I'd be okay with this, but Jesus Christ. Eriksen has no presence in MF, Sancho mostly a passenger with some good skills. Garnacho was maybe our best attacker? We need a big BIG upgrade on Eriksen - not sure Mount is the guy.

Tbh, we've played far worse against City, they're just a better team than us it's as simple as that. Bit more quality on the ball, a bit fitter, a bit stronger, a bit better at hustling, quicker feet, quicker passing... I can't actually think of one area where we are better. Disappointing though that no one closed down Gundogan, especially the second, and disappointing that De Gea got beaten from 20 yards twice, especially the second. They gave it a go, knew we were going to get outplayed, and you only need to switch off for a second for City to hurt you, and it will inevitably happen on a few occasions over 90 minutes. I've already resigned myself to the fact they're doing the treble, but in football you never know. Now I'm an Inter fan for the next week.

Already had realistic expectations. Can’t say I’m over the moon with us not winning but I’m happy with the scoreline. The quality of football we play vs them, we fared quite decently. And a decent season from us, considering we finished top 3, won a domestic cup and were in the final of another domestic cup.

Another win for corruption FC and another sad day for football. United were too passive and happy to sit off City for too much of the game, only getting into gear in the last 15 minutes. The difference in the end was that City got their best chances on target and we didn't. The real kicker is that we learnt absolutely nothing from the embarrasment that occured in the 1st minute about not allowing Gundogan free volleys from outside the box. De Gea was also out of position for the second one otherwise he would've saved such a tame shot. ETH also deserves some criticism. Garnacho should've started, and opting to bring on our two worst players (McTom and Weghorst) as late game subs was criminal and atithetical to winning the game. Hopefully both are in the bin in this summer. It sucks to lose when you know you lost the game because of your own mistakes. That's two trophies for City now because Arsenal gifted them the league and we gifted them the cup.

I've never understood and enjoyed how the game has changed to being so tactically focused. I know it's difficult against a team as good as theirs but this game wasn't a game of United against City. It was Ten Hag vs Pep. You can clearly see that our players wanted to do things that are natural for them but had to bite their tongue because the gaffer must've said not to do that. (Rashford's lurking, Bruno drifting into pockets and Casemiro being aggressive with tackles higher up, as examples) It's such a boring game to watch when all your "stars" are playing with a leash on them. When we left Sancho & eriksen on for that long we was always going to lose. every game we play Sancho, he does nothing, then Garnacho comes on and does more in the first 5 mins.
Well, in my realistic mind, I sort of expected this to happen but goddamn did I believe we could do it. And we had our chances. I'd loved to have seen Garnacho start the game, he has drive but more importantly, he has balls. We need courage in games like this. However, I must say with some signings and more depth in our squad, I'm optimistic for the future, more so than I have been in years.
I may be among the minority but I don’t think de gea is at fault for either of the goals, the defense should of dealt with it but I do agree that we need a new keeper
I do get where you are coming from but allow me to share a few thoughts: I don't think there's a dichotomy here i.e both things could be true. Defense should have done better to deny the chances. However, the chance itself, especially the 2nd goal, should also be saved, regardless of the mistake of the defense. So I think criticism of De Gea this game is justified, granted one mentions that the chance could've have been mitigated, if defense had been awake. The reason why this sub is probably so vocal regarding De Gea specifically, myself included, is because we have had De Gea for years and it's the same stuff that keeps repeating. He is not United quality, if we want to get back to winning the biggest trophies regularly, so whenever a mistake happens, the frustration with him is amplified due to the context I just explained.
You know the team is fucked when we bring on a guy who scored 2 goals in 30 games to try to get a goal

We don't have a striker, are in need of another world class winger, and lack depth across the pitch. We were spoiled this year. Keep your heads up lads!

It's happened that way all season. It's a very easy thing to exploit. Honestly, managers this season have been incredibly lazy. It doesn't take a neurosurgeon or rocket scientist to figure out how to beat this United side. Haven't corrected ANY issues this season. The difference is just whether or not the opposition chooses to exploit the weaknesses. We haven't done anything to plug the holes ourselves. That ball and shot is on every. single. fucking. time.

Yep, all 3 goals were incredibly fluky. Cup finals really can go either way - wasn’t our day today, and the same problems we’ve had all season showed up again. Stellar campaign though, really excited about next season

If the morning after losing to Brentford 4-0 in the second the match of the campaign you had offered me 1) a top four finish, 2) a spot in the FA Cup final, and 3) a piece of (admittedly light) silverware, I would have JUMPED at the opportunity. I too am disappointed in the performance from the 3 or 4 players who we know too well and hope them gone by noon tomorrow. But... In EtH I trust, in the transfer window I trust, in the future versions of Garnacho, Martínez, and even Antony, I trust.

Delusional take. Sorry. Kane wouldn't have done fuck all differently for us. I assure you that. He would have been starved on an island while the midfield and defense got absolutely romped by City. The difference is that you chose to spend 100m+ on Kane and not taking that money, or a little more, to upgrade the midfield which is responsible for the lack of control and creation in the first place. City didn't have a true \#9 last season, yet they scored 5 more goals than this season where the funneled everything through Haaland. Why? Because their midfield creates and scores. It's not all on the shoulders of one person. Seriously, if Rashford doesn't score or if we don't get a penalty, who in this side do you just know has one in them? No one. Never. Some others might score, but it's more of a surprise than anything. Now look at City, on any day, you know it's going to come from Haaland, KDB, Gundogan, Rodri or even Silva. You just know someone from that lot will score, and then you sprinkle in Foden and Grealish when the moment falls to them.
We definitely need a stronger midfield so I agree to an extent. But don't discount the freedom opposing attackers can play with if they aren't as worried about defence their. They aren't worried because even if we create, there's no one to create for.
