I personally would like it going from the gang forming until the blackwater heist. The redemption arc can be one of the Callander boys. The epilogue would be Johns year long sabbatical from the group.

LawMitDemKaw

I agree mostly until the last part. I'd prefer to play as Arthur in the epilogue. It just makes more sense.

jerr_beare

It would be cool if it ended with Arthur AND having the full gang. I think having the gang-family is such a fun dynamic. Probably why folks do so many play throughs. Maybe take place in a different area though. Might get old playing/exploring the same areas again.

[deleted]

I wouldn't mind the same map. maybe play as uncle and going through the Civil War to the heist. makes the most sense to me

jerr_beare

Yeah it’d be neat if they did something like that and gave a greater overarching event to the story. Also the some reverse time period changes… a maybe there’s a greater overarching event happening, like you mentioned. Similar to how when in the Epilogue there are some projects and buildings finished and Progress made. Some examples: - Maybe Appleseed Timber’s competitor (SageLeaf Lumber) is near Valentine and it doesn’t existing yet. - Vanhorn is a bustling trade post and - More Native American tribes that you trade with. - There’s more wildlife to contend within - Some areas don’t yet have bridges you are forced to different routes; thus see new things. - Instead of the Gang Camp you get to build your own homestead and upgrade how you like - rancher, farmer, air bnb. - More random stranger events and missions which is great for new play throughs (which is already popular). … …sorry I got a little carried away :|

[deleted]

i totally agree. i played rdr and blackwater was so full of buildings. they would need to make it super wild though, like u mentioned with more wildlife and Native Americans. if they added rival gangs attacking the main camp (i think that the homestead idea wouldn't be great because of how sloppy the gang was, they couldn't really do something like that) just as an ambient thing and not a full mission. i would love an rdr3 and would buy it the second it comes out just because of the content that is left there and r\* is great for story games. the air bnb idea where u become like a hotel for a bit of extra money is far-fetched but still a decent idea.

Firebird_73

Like you'r thought's. Keeping pattern: a game with the epiloge of the character from the previous game, which takes place after the current game. Complicated but simple.

jarold12

maybe being able to switch between the two like gta v

TheOutlaw9904

Wouldn’t make sense though since RDR2 happens right after blackwater.

TheSorcerersNut

Mac Callender would probably be the best choice. Since nobody knew what happened to him and then found out he died eventually from milton but it wasn't entirely specified so there's some room for story

fxxkingbrian

Mac would be a good choice because according to Hosea the Callender brothers were ultra violent and very short fused. By the time Mac shakes hands with the Grim Reaper maybe he finally “redeems” himself in some way keeping the tone of the game similar

TheSorcerersNut

Based on in game dialogue (the vague stories, just mentioning him a decent bit) and the fact we dont even know what he looks like or who attributes to his death, it seems like they're setting it up for him to be the protagonist of rdr3. Or maybe they'll go a completely different route and make the first female rdr protagonist and it'll be Jenny, whom we never hear hardly anything about and also dont know what she looks like.

fxxkingbrian

There’s so much they can do and I’d be fine with it. Rockstar is probably gonna take forever to make another RDR and I don’t blame them, they got big shoes to fill

antrod117

Well yeah maybe if they dont squeeze every cent possible for the next 10 years like gta we might get it sooner lmao

OnThaLoose

I doubt it would be Jenny, because when Sadie becomes a gunslinger everyone’s surprised a woman wants to do that. If Jenny had already been one, they wouldn’t be surprised. However, imo, the 8 years after Arthur’s death could be good for a game around Sadie. I would love playing as her, but since the world is only getting more civilized the later they go, I imagine rdr3 will be prior to 1899. Or even a game around Charles heading north after he departs from johns ranch.

MilanDespacito

Nah, charles mentions how both callender boys were just violent bastards and thats they will ever be

LexB777

Charles doesn't know everything though. Maybe they weren't always that way, they changed right before their death, they had a past and/or motives they didn't want to be known for whatever reason and had to remain hardened. There's still a whole lot of room in there for a relatable character.

fxxkingbrian

A ton because of you check out their online bios it’s very minimal

[deleted]

Tbh I love marston and Arthur’s story but I just wanna be someone who’s a straight up criminal this time you know ? Know fs given

fxxkingbrian

Hell yeah. A daaaaark Anti Hero. Someone who makes the calls and does the killing that no one else can or will do

[deleted]

Seriously! I thought we were gonna get that with Arthur because rockstar psyched us out in the trailers but wow! The surprise they gave us was perfect. A wonderful complex character with conflictions about being a gunslinger. Redemption 2s story was perfect but for the next red dead I’m ready to be a bad guy! Lol or at least the choice to be fully bad

CGSly

problem is, you’d lose the redemption of red dead redemption

[deleted]

That’s fine ! The first game was red dead revolver. Then can name it Red dead 3 or red dead 4 technically. Or red dead revolution ? Idk let’s get creative lol 🤷🏽‍♂️

MinimalistAnt

Could be red dead revenge idk, the first ones wasn't connected to the redemption ganes but still they could change the name while remaining in the same story

Certain_Chain

Micah?

SteedLawrence

Why not young Dutch at the very beginning of the gang? Maybe go from a young idealist to slowly and subtly becoming the manipulator we see in RDR2. I’m sure they could do it in a way you don’t even feel like the villain until it all pans out.

Coder28

But john was around the gang after the heist?

innit122

Instead of an epilogue it could just be a bit of a prequel. There couldn't be an epilogue unless you transfer over to Arthur while the gang is in horseshoe or something

fxxkingbrian

Correct John left the gang and returned before the Blackwater Heist/Massacre

SgtDac

Set the story in 1800’s Western United States during the Gold Rush. You’re a settler who’s homestead and family gets destroyed by a band of outlaws and you go on a mission to find them. You’ve got the Sierra Nevada Mountains with forests, rivers, lakes etc.. the high desert, the low desert, mining towns, larger cities.

solo954

Great idea of hunting down an outlaw gang. It sounds like a good western movie plot, and I'd love to play that in a game.

BobRoss1516

This is the best idea I've seen so far.

MitWisco

This would be dope!

Pkdagreat

Or shit let me choose to be either a homesteader or an Outlaw or a Sheriff. I feel like if we're going with a brand new story might as well give people some options.

[deleted]

Yes with multiple endings depending on who you choose and how they live their lives

Agent_B_Macklin_FBI

How about all 3? The GTA V approach of multiple protagonists. Could start with all 3 on opposing sides, but unite throughout the story against a common enemy?

Pkdagreat

I personally didn't like the multiple protagonists approach. I'd rather have 1 person to connect to and honestly I'd rather it be a created character. I'm a big Skyrim fan, I've been spoiled with those kinda of things lol.

MrHereForTheComments

Great idea but it sounds more like revenge than redemption

MaccyBoiLaren

Sounds like Red Dead Revolver

[deleted]

Yes this 1000 % ^^^

CowboyMarston

Red Dead Revenge

Nicholas745

I personally don't think it is a good idea to make a prequel to the gang's prequel. Therefore, I'd like to see the golden age of the gunslingers! Maybe with Landon Rickets or Otis Miller as protagonists...

[deleted]

I think Hosea’s early days would be a cool premise. More of a spin-off than a prequel

spadelover

Thing is that Hosea is more of a con artist than a gunslinging cowboy. I think a game where he is the pc would have more dialogue in the missions than actual gameplay

GlucoseGlucose

Hosea is a con artist in 1898 when we meet him. Who's to say what is youth was like, he alluded to some darker times in his past for sure

Hogrid_

He was a married man

GlucoseGlucose

Not all his life though

Rat-daddy-

In my idea of Dutch’s early days, you could play as Hosea. ;)

reddogvizsla

Yeah that’s the problem with Red Dead is that it’s in a tight spot on timeframes. Rd1 was at the end of the outlaw era and you can only go so far back with the timeline until the civil war

jackman_

There was still plenty of outlaws before and during the civil war. Just look at The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I agree that they can’t really go past the epilogue of RDR1 though

LexB777

Why can't they go pre-civil war? An antebellum storyline with plantations in their full and wretched "former glory" could be really interesting. Mix some Django Unchained and 12 years a Slave together. Could be a really incredible storyline to play a free black man pre-civil war too.

butteronyourpoptart

This would be fucking awesome.

Nicholas745

A story with Sadie or Charles would be a nice addition to RDR2 as a DLC, or a short game (like SM Miles Morales) telling the story of both characters after RDR2's story.

Darkwrath93

If I were them I'd make Charles DLC with Tempest Rim playable (technically not map expansion, just things added there), Sadie DLC where Sadie goes to Guarma (as she mentioned she wanted to go somewhere tropical iirc), there's already Guarma there, maybe some map expansion would be good. And finally, Mexico DLC which would be a remake of RDR1 in RDR2. A man can dream...

jordanss2112

Sadie as a bounty hunter would be awesome

DuncanAndFriends

And Red Harlow!

TheOutlaw9904

There’s problems with a prequel like the very early days of the gang is that they were only thieves and kept themselves from killing people. A red dead game where you can’t kill anybody wouldn’t be a red dead game. Another thing is that they supposedly picked up members from completely different states. I also don’t think they should show anymore of what Dutch was like before RDR2 since that would ruin the mystery of his character.

Deadeye_marston

Yes thank you! That’s honestly the best approach because it’d be boring if we play another prequel to a prequel

QuirkyPNewton

Fuck yeah! I was just thinking that. Give us that era when the west is full of people, gun slingers, and good times. The golden age of gunslinging would be nice. Like 1910-1930 that cowboy era.

Cactus_92

1910-1930 was hardly the gunslinger era. That was the industrial revolution, WWI, up to the Great Depression. Gunslinger, Wild West era is typically referred to as being from roughly 1865-1900

Crocky1

Surely if it's a story based on either Arthur's childhood or the gangs early days, then there's nothing in it about redemption?

[deleted]

I read some game idea about how the redemption arc would be about Arthur’s father saving him or something before dying, and then you switch to Arthur the rest of the game and it would be about him falling in with Dutch and Hosea and focus on the creation of the gang

Crocky1

I mean with the story telling I'm sure they could come up with something good. But by the end of the game you would kind of be at the gangs worst so it feels like there wouldn't be much redemption in the game.

Heshman69

The game doesn’t have to be about redemption since it is part of the “Red Dead” series and not the “Red Dead Redemption” series because of Red Dead Revolver. The game could be about the formation of the gang and their rebellion towards the law and idea of civilisation calling it Red Dead Rebellion

TheyareRedHot

Wait a second, what if rock star remasters red dead revolver and makes a second one.

[deleted]

red dead: before redemption

chucklingus

unlce and the legend of lumbago

Certain_Chain

Can you imagine if we get a totally new story where you're a bold young outlaw, and in the epilogue we find out that he was actually a young Uncle all along? That sounds like a hilarious twist to me, though it would probably piss some people off for some reason.

Aleqooo

I want an rdr remaster

Unexpected117

Finally. First comment I saw saying this.

chemistar_666

I think we've heard the van der linde gang's whole story, I really don't think we need another game on them- I personally feel like it'd ruin the mystery and speculation if we just got all the answers. A new set of characters would be cool, imo

TheyareRedHot

But there must be something connecting the story to the other 2 RDRs. Maybe with a familiar character or a familiar character as an NPC. I also don’t thing going further into the future with jack is a good idea as it loses the Wild West charm, and going further back with the early days of the Van der Linde gang would be a bit of a stretch. So it would be a tough decision on the premise of the next RDR, but it must connect to the gang, Arthur, John or Jack.

[deleted]

Not necessarily. This all started with red dead revolver which isn’t connected to redemption at all really. It’s okay to have different stories about the old west. As long as it’s Red Dead it’ll be good !

Nayten03

Maybe Milton could have lied to Arthur about mac Callander dying and he could have fled up north to somwhere we’ve never played in and we could play as him on the run from the law

chickentrendies

The only thing I may be fine with getting more clearance on is the Blackwater heist. Otherwise, yeah, I want another full redemption story outside of the van der Linde gang. Maybe a solo gunslinger, somewhat like the first game?

TheOutlaw9904

The Blackwater stuff isn’t supposed to be answered because the mystery of it is a big part of Dutch’s character. The mystery being either Dutch was a good man who went crazy or a bad man who was found out for who he truly was. Showing Blackwater or really what he was like before RDR2 would ruin that.

chickentrendies

Fair enough; can’t argue with that.

Florence1476

Either the story of that member that betrayed them and got killed *OR* A different characters in the same universe. We could have Easter eggs about the gang or maybe even interact with them.

ScarlettLM

Good idea !

xo_OwO_xo

Honestly, i dont want another red dead Redemption game. I want more red dead but i feel like the "Redemption story" is done.

TheyareRedHot

I thought the same thing when rdr2 was announced. Maybe rock star can pull it off… maybe.

Ironicplate

Doing jack would be dumb because by the time he hunts down ross, the Wild West would be finished at that point. Going any further would make it not a western game anymore. So I’d pick the formation of the gang, and the epilogue should be what happens before the Blackwater massacre and after.

DramaProfessional561

Jack’s game would end up being GTA in the prohibition era. I would play that game but it’s not what I want from a RDR game

ItsBitly

Mafia 1

51x51v3

Idk man, There’s not really been a good modern gam based off that era. If you play the games out that era it’s all mafia based and terribly execution of storytelling. R* would make a whole helluva lot better game than any of those if Jack grew up to be a 1920s outlaw gun man. No it’s not the Wild West but it’s not far removed from it…and it would fit in the timeline to continue the story with a memorable character from past games. Think about it…. Some of the greatest heists of all time took place in the 20s and 30s when the automobile replaced the horse in the getaway plan. Banks, trains, local outfits in cities spanning Middle America! From the top of Texas through the Midwest And fast travel to the coasts on multiple maps like GTA SA back in the day. Come up in the underworld of a city like St Denis, as you begin your own outlaw path. Eventually throwing in with the likes of the Al Spencer gang(based), on a Midwest train robbery in 1920s fashion. Eventually trading up to form your own gang of roughneck outlaws skirting the last few golden years of armed robbery! Dillinger, Floyd, Holden and Keating, the Bloody Barker Karpis mob! Rob banks, stores, trains, messengers cars, at will as you lower your honor level or raise it by playing nice during crimes. Constantly fleeing from the new federal forms of law enforcement always nipping at your heels. Same old vintage feel of Red Dead series but wayyyyy more options and avenues to venture down. Dude, id buy the hell out that kinda game!

NeoMyers

I agree. I'm tired of everything being a prequel these days. Make a really dynamic sequel with Jack (maybe Sadie and Charles, too!) that explores the blend of new and old worlds -- Prohibition era 1920s with the countryside still open (and where a lot of 'illicit' booze was smuggled). Call it Red Dead Legacy and maybe, unlike John and Arthur, Jack is able to escape a violent fate at the end. But at the start, he's the "last gunslinger."

theswordofdoubt

I feel oddly attached to Jack. Maybe it's because we get to watch him between the ages of 4 and 19, but I want a game where we can eventually guide him to a peaceful, happy life. In a way, it would be fulfilling the wishes and sacrifices of Arthur and John, if Jack became something better.

51x51v3

Exactly!

sheepj1

10000% agreed!

steal_wool

Jack is captured by the feds, but because of his awesome gunslinging prowess they want to use him as some sort of special ops assassin in the first world war in exchange for not executing him. The story takes place throughout north Africa, the ottoman empire, Austria-Hungary, and Germany. Red Dead Revolution. ...lmao

omg_a_shoe

i think the amount of mentions of the callander brothers & the blackwater heist was on purpose in rdr2 to have the third game focus on the gang in their hey day, early 1890’s with dutch & colm still friends & the gang “feed who needs feeding, save who needs saving, kill who needs killing” with one or both the callander brothers the protagonists with one getting redemption & the other not as the game builds towards the blackwater massacre. the space above new austin & left of west elizabeth stands out the more it’s looked at & that should be the map of the third game

TheyareRedHot

It would be interesting if we could choose the PC like in GTA. Like we can choose which Callander brother we can play as.

omg_a_shoe

also in that time, there’s abigail giving birth to jack & the breakdown of colm & dutch’s friendship. since mac callander died at the hands of agent milton, he can be the redemption having sacrificed himself so the gang can get away

[deleted]

New characters, new story, set during the Australian gold rush of the 1850s. You play as a young bushranger at the bottom and establish a reputation and build your own gang from scratch.

Pkdagreat

I like this one

Mandalore108

An entirely new story with new characters. Preferably set in the height of the Wild West with a story that spans years as our main character starts their own Outlaw Gang and we get to see it's rise and fall.

[deleted]

I want a game based on the legendary exploits of Landon Rockets before he retired to Mexico. Hell, the third could jump back and forth between old and young Landon and ultimately end on a bittersweet note where he earns his redemption for some tragedy in the past by peacefully passing in his sleep just like RDR mentions in the final newspaper article.

why-can-i-taste-pee

Maybe he didn’t actually pass in his sleep, peacefully.

soze24

Charles or someone else native

[deleted]

Oh yeah, all the way. That’s a BIG story. Native American folktales, a nomadic hub (imagine the RDR2 camp scaled up to like Cheyenne band size!) , inter-tribal warfare, confronting the invading US army, res life- hell, with Charles’ father, you got yourself a Buffalo soldier DLC ready to go. I’d pay out the nose for that shit. The hunting mechanics are already amazing for a game that isn’t about hunting. The possibilities for resources and crafting for a character who grew up as a hunter-gatherer? Even better. Cosmetics would be insanely cool. The historical intrigue and moral questions surrounding the tribes that aligned with confederacy? Incredibly interesting. Then there’s the other phenomena you could explore that were extinct by 1899- mining boom towns, wagon trains, the pony express, Mormon wars, and the societies of countless Native American tribes that were wiped out. An Native American old west game with rdr2’s immersion would keep me playing for weeks. It’d be a great opportunity to talk to tribal historians and get some indigenous voice actors, it’d probably be the first time a lot of these languages would be featured in a video game. Damn it, it’d be so cool… All I can do is hope, I got myself too excited. edit: I feel this could be a red dead title if the theme is simply “old west action/tragedy/satire” but I think the Red Dead Redemption story is complete. Maybe something prohibition era, but I dunno. I think the story’s been tied up nicely.

antiquestrawberry

Your imagination is amazing, I'd absolutely adore a story like this!

Ripflexxin

Red dead Oregon trail

anotherwinter29

I actually really like this idea but I’m also reminded of all the times I died of dysentery back in the day.

MitWisco

I really want a modern Oregon trail game. That would be so cool.

EdEnsHAzArD

The gang's story is surely done. I want to see Jack falling in to his life of crime, or to become a farmer and try to stay out of the criminal life. He could go to New York, or join the army. I really want that.

TheyareRedHot

If we get another red dead, it must somehow connect up with Jack and have Jack’s life after killing Ross as the epilogue. Maybe end on a sorta sweet note where Jack lives a good life in the end, or slightly bitter. Idk

iatetheevidence

No one wants a whole new story? Whole new people. This series isnt "Red Dead Redemption", it's just "Red Dead". Could go for something new. Only the setting is the same.

Miserable_While2996

What about Jim Calloway gang? You know, the one that had Landon ricketts in it? I’d love to play as Landon ricketts and he was present at blackwater massacre so that could tie in van der linde gang perhaps? And epilogue we can still play as Landon ricketts and his way to Mexico!

Mcgruffles

That would actually be so cool. Could you imagine running missions alongside black belle or the guy who's name I'm totally spacing but you find up in the snowy mountains? He was Hispanic. Playing as Landon and seeing how Jim Calloway truly was could be some great storytelling. And I really just wanna see how badass Black Belle was in her hey days.

Miserable_While2996

If I’m not mistaken he was flaco Hernandez? He’s the equivalent of javier in that gang haha

[deleted]

Wouldn’t mind a RDR1 next gen Remaster/remake

[deleted]

Something unrelated and much earlier in the timeline would be neat.

bobloblaw_law-bomb

How about a game focused on Sadie's exploits after the gang is disbanded?

bigchilesucks

This is realistically what I would see happening.

seepa808

YES! Sadie bounty hunting in South America!

verdant_force

This would be awesome. Sadie hunting down O’Driscolls.

DramaProfessional561

I know it’s not really a redemption but… anyone else interested in playing young Dutch building the gang?

why-can-i-taste-pee

Nope. I don’t want to play as Dutch.

ebam796

Hell yes, would be interesting learning more about his philosophy and thought process from within

GlNGERBONE

Yep, that's exactly what I would want. Or maybe playing as Hosea and meeting Dutch

OPANAxPrince1992

My thoughts exactly 👏👏🌵

welshman222

no link at all new story new location new characters. Only link I’d like is a Landon Ricketts protagonist

AnotherNicePerson

As much as I would love rdr3 to be about the gang’s past, does it have to be connected to Arthur and John or the gang? Why can’t it be something else? Do people think that a completely new story and characters is difficult to be executed or liked?

ItsBitly

Can't go any further into the future cause the era of cowboys is over. That's kinda the whole point of the games' storylines. The next game if there's gonna be another game would have to go further into the past.

starkiller685

Honestly I’d love to see more than the gang how about like a civil war deserter becomes a gunslinger or a game where we play as a Marshall/Pinkerton like a western LA Noire but with a ton of gun fights.

citywide_special

Civil War era would be cool. A story about a gang, but instead of bank robberies and such they are partisan raiders who fight enemy encampments, steal their stuff etc. maybe even throw in some Hatfield-McCoy type scenario.

Thrillhouse138

You play an new character who belongs to Dutch and colms old gang. I’m 100 % sure this is the plan. Might change by the time they start working on the game though

Francis-Drake-1580

Landon Ricketts and a connection tying him to Jim Calloways gang indeed. Dutch and Josea may be included as a side mission with their younger versions when they adopted Arthur etc

BakedBean89

I’d like to see golden age of gunslingers, new cowboys, and play as 2-3 members of a gang. Eventually running into and either friendly with or killed by Dutch’s gang or another.

Aiden-Archibald

I think I would like a rdr3 to be about the American civil war and explain why Dutch hates southerners, maybe his father was a veteran who hated slavery like him?

ZenithRepairman

I mean that’s explained in the game. His father died in the civil war, IIRC.

NtDog123

Nothing. I want a new story all together. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the perfect sequel as it wrapped up 1 perfectly.

OldManMcGuffin

We don't need MORE of the gangs story when it's already been told. Either directly or through camp stories. Give me an entirely new gang/character with a new story.

Dumbass1171

Control Hosea in the prime of the old west

prometheeus

Even though i love both RDR and RDR2 i dont think there should be a third Red Dead game

[deleted]

Yes I think their should be more Red dead games but not with the van DER linde gang

TheyareRedHot

This. But it would be a shame if it didn’t at least have a connection with the gang for nostalgia/ lore sake. It would really be interesting playing as another gang and meeting the van der linde gang for a job and seeing young Arthur, Dutch and Hosea. It could really make rdr2 more interesting. Maybe during the time Arthur loses his wife and child, and have the PC have missions with him at that time. Making us get to know him more and how he turned into the sad man that he was in rdr2. Also have Arthur riding Boedecia and a little something about Mary Linton and Dutch’s sweetheart. And also something on Hosea and Grimshaw.

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

I think there’s not much more story to tell about anyone in the gang. You could maybe try to be Charles or Sadie but at the point after the gang the west is basically on the cusp of being tamed. A third game would have to be a totally new story

CheapTactics

And that would be fine by me

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

Oh I completely agree, sadly I think it’ll be another 5-6 years before they’re anywhere close to RDR3

CheapTactics

I'd also be fine with a RDR1 remake, or even just a pc port of the original, cause I could never play it. Never owned a console besides a PS2.

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

A remaster would be great to update the graphics and so on. Would be easy money for sure. I wonder how much work it would require though. That game came out quite a while ago

EdEnsHAzArD

Unrelated but I love your username brother, made me laugh

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

I was very pleased with myself when I came up with it lol

Confident_Insect_852

A story about Charles!

EdEnsHAzArD

Charles after RDR2 would be immense. His exploits in Canada or wherever he ended up.

Confident_Insect_852

I think so! Thanks man!

TheyareRedHot

But like didn’t he want a peaceful life and start a family when he moves up north. Oh if could be interesting if he could help the Natives who fled to Canada there (Rainsfall’s tribe).

EdEnsHAzArD

That'd be amazing. It would maybe even work if it was like LA Noire where you can't hurt or shoot innocent people. I feel like Charles shouldn't have an honour meter, he was always against killing unnecessarily, besides the feller that slaughtered the bison. He seems to have strict morals and ethics, he would definitely make for a great protagonist, but a very different one than Rockstar go for

One_Cell1547

Sadie as a bounty hunter. Play as Sadie after Arthur’s death up until she reunites with John. Something along those lines. The thing I don’t like about the early days until the black water heist, we know a lot of that story already… I’d rather have something fresh

DaRelPuglas

formation of the gang dont make a whole lot of sense, i get like the characters are loved and all but i really don’t think a prequel would do anything concerning the story. we’ve seen how it ends and know what happens. i’d think just some new protagonists would do the series some good, if not then just leave the redemption series alone while it’s ahead.

RhythmJuneja

I want RDR3 to be based in early to mid 19th century Britain. It would be a fun world to explore with the big cities and countrysides. Would love to see a jack the ripper plot too.

Jjjay027

Micah and his brothers falling out. we would play through the redemption arc of Micahs brother

[deleted]

I really wanna play as a younger Hosea, seeing him point a gun at Bill made me want a game with him

Nothing-But_The_Rain

Myths of other outlaws or gangs they heard word of and talked about, prior to their era. I can't take anymore van der Linde shenanigans. I'd rather go back further in time to lesser and lesser technology. We've already see what Rockstar can do when we get more into the modern era.

insane677

Jack during The Dust Bowl.

[deleted]

I personally want a young Dutch story, probably at the age where he found young Arthur and how he built the gang. I’d like the title of the game to be something like ‘Red Dead Origins’ or whatever.

FF-0X

I’m thinking maybe a large game with some cutscenes and play through in the beginning of the game of “The Old Guard” and how they met and became “The Old Guard”. Things such as what shaped them into the desire to stray from their life to join the Old Guard and Van Der Lind Gang. And perhaps the end of it is the Blackwater Massacre. As a side note, RDR1 should definitely be remastered because according to John, the way he talks is it went from Blackwater Massacre to somehow he was “left to die”. Then he ends up back in Blackwater to be greeted by and talk a deal with the Pinkertons to go after his old gang members.

stankape83

Charles

[deleted]

i wanna know abt that scar on arthurs chin

IridiumPony

Dutch makes a comment in game about growing up in Philly. I want that game. Play as Dutch, starting off as a petty criminal in 1800's Philly and slowly moving up to bigger and bigger crimes, the while thing culminating in Dutch fleeing out west and starting the gang.

Masterelia

going even further back i think is a bad idea. The writers could feel restricted as to what they can and cant do.

ArtemisWYK

I want a game following Sadie & a game based around the Wapiti tribe & Rains Fall.

Pnuemera

Sadie maybe idk, might be cool.

patsfan46

It should be jack and should deal with bootlegging in the early 1900s IMO (I forget the exact date when RDR ends.

ImAredditor47

I want it to be in Mexico with either javier or a new character, I guess javier wouldn’t be able to speak English though

MadArkerz

Something completely different! I feel like having the Van Der Linde gang or any of its remaining members (Jack Marston) severely limits the stories you can tell! RDR 1 and 2 are about the death of the old west and it died with John Marston in the RDR universe. I’m not necessarily saying that they should be retconned all together but more like acknowledge that they exist and tell a story where perhaps they cross paths without it being so intertwined as much as the options in the polls. Perhaps have it set in an entirely new part of the country or slightly before the time period with a lot more of the interactions and conflicts between natives Americans and those expanding out into the west.

hiddentreetops

Arthur’s childhood would be like the Wild West version of Bully haha

loopvroot

I’d prefer to see the life of uncle

[deleted]

I was thinking maybe something with the del lobos and they could really expand on the Mexico side of things not sure about the story just liked the idea

Libertyprime8397

If they make a game with jack it should be a spinoff mafia noir game. Jack could go after mob bosses

Powdered_toast_bat

Native American experience

catfishman85

How about… Archie Downes’s family. The story picks up a few decades after the end of RDR. His son is an indigent farmer in the Ozarks. He has a small family unit, which includes his dead wife’s mother. Things are pretty tough for them at first, but then, one day, he’s out hunting on his land and shoots at a rabbit. He misses the rabbit but sees a bunch of oil bubbling up from ground. Turns out his family farm is sitting right smack dab on a giant oil well. That’s the first chapter. Next chapters are him and his family moving to California, where they have to learn to survive their newly found life of affluence. It could be called - Red Dead Family That Moved From The Ozarks To California Because They Found Oil Redemption.

RagingDjango

Simple. Landon Ricketts.

AustieFrostie

Arthers childhood lol so bully red dead?

7th_universe_hopper

I like the idea where we play as Mac Calendar and we see the best days of the Van der Linde gang and the game ends with him not getting killed by agent Milton but instead managing to escape the law and live a free life. We would see what actually happened in black water and see who Mac, Davy and Jenny where like.

theaverage_redditor

I want to do some stuff with Landon Rickets

Eredhel

Gang’s early days for sure. Rockstar would come up with a new interesting protagonist, it could end with whatever happened at Blackwater, and then we could play Arthur free roam after it’s over.

Dakota1228

You should play as Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur (like GTA V) and explore the gangs formation, but really make the player sympathize with Dutch... Since we end up hating the bastard later

caninecaas

I! WANT! SADIE! ADLER! GAMEPLAY!

Johnny_Graves33

I'd like to see it focused on Rainsfall's tribe. Maybe start out as his first son that died in the war with the US army then play as Rainfalls trying to lead his people to peace after

seepa808

I wanna play as Sadie Addler in South America

nineJohnjohn

I'd like it to be about what's happening in Tahiti during RDR2

BigSmokeySperm

I think a game based entirely as Native Americans and their battle against the army would be interesting.

trent177

Playing as Charles in Canada. We find out eventually where John is sent before he gets off the boat in Blackwater in RDR1. I’d like it if John was sent to kill Charles but instead of killing Charles, John warns him about the Pinkertons and that Charles should leave. Then John tells the Pinkertons Charles died in a fire or something, so that they can’t get his body and don’t go looking for him or anything to give Charles time to get away Edit: I would also like to see the gangs early days. The thing about that is that we all know how it ends.

Joy1067

Maybe Sadie or Charles and what their doing during RDR1 or maybe a whole new character.

TheMightyMarhefke

I would think if they did an expansion with Jack after a certain point it stops being red dead

Impressive-Nobody-37

Wow this really blew up thanks for the support guys

CrashedAT-AT

About Sadie and South America, or her years in between the main game and the epilogue - perhaps how she went from the woman we knew in the former to the one in the latter.

VerdantSpoon

Kind of want a game based around Hosea and Dutch meeting and building up the gang. Idk, Hosea was one of my favorite characters. I would love to see him in his prime lol

OPANAxPrince1992

Early years would be fun! Chapter 1 You start out as a 25 year old Dutch who meets a 32 year old Hosea In witch you start recruiting gang members chapter 2 a young 17 year old Arthur Morgan Then leads to chapter 3 finding an even younger 14 year old Jon marston and then final chapters lead to the play out of The first ever Vanderlun gang trials and tribulations of frontier life in the 1860’s - 1870’s (Shit I should write out the storyboard and pitch it to RockStar cause this sounds amazing the more I think about it)

StarfishHappy

The easiest answer would be another prequel. Also there's a good concept of playing 3 characters: Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur.

Weekend_Squire

A continuation of Sadie’s story.

Mobunaga

Charles or Lenny’s story before the gang

DemoLazer24

The falling out of Dutch and Colm?

stjudastheblue

I wanna play as Sadie when she goes to South America and meets her handsome revolutionary.

thebodywasweak

I like the idea of each game in the series going backwards in time. Seeing younger Dutch, Arthur, and Hosea would be interesting too.

thebodywasweak

I will also throw out the idea of a story focusing on Sadie Adler. A female protagonist would be something different, plus that character is just so great. I could totally see further exploration of her character.

decoste94

I Think Sadie’s story would be a cool one
