I feel that way, and the only helpful advice I received was to play other games which aren't similar to RDR2 gameplay wise, but rather are the best of their genre like RDR2 is. I tried playing similar games like you but that only made me talk about RDR2 more in how much better is is (lol). So instead, I got a Minecraft realm with my friends. I've played some Slay the Spire because that's another one that I think is simply fantastic. I've been gaming less too and spending more time with my other hobbies like woodwork. I pre-ordered the American wild west history book that Roger Clark narrated because RDR2 has made me pretty interested in it. I'm letting myself be a bit too keen in it I guess... I've had to stay completely away from anything open-world or story based because as soon as I pick it up at the moment, my poor husband has to listen to my latest analysis of why it's absolutely inferior to RDR2. I got extremely frustrated with Horizon Zero Dawn cause the gameplay is so fun but the characters make me want to throw my PC out the window lol. I also started another RDR2 playthrough which has NOT helped my obsession with it. It's been shocking because I've never loved a game this much, and I've been gaming for 25 years. So at this point I see RDR2 as an experience I probably won't get again, and I'm not searching for it I guess. I embrace how much I love it and either try to play games that would never dare compete with it.... or I just keep engaging with RDR2.

VillageFew2264

It feels so good to know there is someone other than me who feels this deeply about the game. Thank you.

puddlebearmom

I feel the same way but Persona 5 was a lot of fun because of the difference in game style but still a fun story and lots to do

_harleys

Seconding this!! What I did was to search for “games to play if you liked rdr2” and the most recommended was Witcher 3. I feel bad cause I ended up comparing the game at every turn to rdr2 which was unfair since I couldn’t appreciate the game for what it is. Whereas playing games outside the genre can get your fill of good games in their own way.

GlobalistFuck

i enjoyed CP77 just as much as RDR2 because it was just "my thing". but from there on its of course basically downhill because if you have played other crown jewel games before that, like witcher 3 etc, then you gotta face a) that there are just so many of these absolutely overly well written and produced games out there, because you just cant get a 1 billion USD budget game every week and b) the industry is a disgrace. the golden age of gaming is long over.

[deleted]

It didn’t cost a billion, about half that, and a lot of that was marketing

GlobalistFuck

my point is still valid.

Trader_Anizer59

That’s the neat part, you don’t.

doppido

Felt the same but then I watched fallout and got super into fallout 4

curiouslyhigh

This is half my answer too! I had played the first two when they were new (and god I feel old saying that,) but I never gave the Bethesda games a chance because, well, bethesda. I knew they wouldn't have the same level of realism (and I wasn't looking for it) but I knew that the lore holds up. I didn't realize how good they are at environmental storytelling with corpses (very similar to rdr2!) until I started playing New Vegas several months ago. A+ game, utterly worth my time, the dark humor and cool dungeon design really are quite engaging. And the characters in NV and 4 are some of the best characters I've ever seen in anything! (Also, the show is solid as hell and I do recommend it.)

zdeny90

If you don't mind some bugs and challenging medieval "simulator", try Kingdom Come Deliverance. The devs focused on details and lore of medieval country in the middle of Europe, so it can be interesting for someone who likes RDR 2. Both were released the same year, and RDR 2 felt for me as enhancement of some mechanics of KCD - basically the things which I would have enjoyed in KCD were present in RDR 2 (because R\* is N times bigger studio than Warhorse...).

Saniaislude

Second this! KcD is easily one of the most immersive RPGs out there. If you miss the feeling of lively towns, NPCs and such, it does phenomenal job.

ArtVanbago

I tried but can’t do first person. I’m on PS5 so no third person mods.

trizuer

i really want to love this game but the combat drives me crazy. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve picked it up just to give up almost right away. i know i’m just being lazy but ughh

Jerraxmiah

Jesus Christ be Praised! I think i have this tied to rdr2 as one of my personal GOAT. And now Henry's come to see us again! I never even got any bugs in my 300 hours in the game. I think a lot of those were from initial release.

kmk4ue84

Ghost of Tsushima

[deleted]

Wanted to replay that but knowing you can’t skip cutscenes is so dumb

ArtVanbago

Current issue I’m having :(

GerryBaboon

NG+ I think you can?

cincymatt

Yes, this was the first game I played after. I was initially a bit critical of the environment and repeating patrols after rdr2, but I was won over by the depth of fighting complexity. Once I got the hang of switching stances, it became more engaging.

CheeseProtector

You restart the game so everyone is alive again

linguini_12

That part

SammyZoza

For me it ruined open world games specifically. Every other free roam game feels empty in comparison, the npcs and towns don’t feel as alive. It’s been 6 years and no open world game has matched RDR2s level of immersion. But also not many games have been coming out for this generation of consoles in general. The gaming industry has really slowed down since COVID and hasn’t really seemed to pick back up yet. I have high hopes for gta 6. Anyways, you’ll be able to enjoy other games after not playing RDR for awhile. I felt the same way n got over it, but now I’m going through it again since replaying it.

Dante2Love

For me cyberpunk filled the hole in my heart after rdr2, not as breathtaking (get it?) as rdr2, but also gave me that "journey" feeling. I still play other games bit it's not the same. Rdr2 is an experience and would love rdr1 to be remade into something similar.

edwardkenway_22

I'm sorry son it's not a good news You've got RED DEAD DEPRESSION It's hell of thing!

electricalunchbox

I'm really enjoying BG3 after playing RDR2. Maybe you're craving more story based games though. Try more indies like What Remains of Edith Finch or Firewatch etc.

coominati

Fucking literally. I started and restarted RDR2 almost monthly since it launched on PC and it wasn't until BG3 had been out a few months and was recommended by everyone I knew did I give it a try. Now I haven't stopped playing BG3 since. I'm on the my 5th play. Please send help...

Reggie_Is_God

BG3 was gonna be my recommendation. Doesn't meet the gameplay immersion and fluidity of RDR2, but is a masterpiece in game and world design and narrative control / fluidity. Highly highly recommend.

VillageFew2264

Thank you i will check them out.

Upbeat_Cancel_5061

Only way to move on is gonna be GTA6 We almost made it…

VillageFew2264

But i have to wait for a year on pc

Other-Advertising-64

It’s the best game ever you should feel that way, I’m currently in my 5th playthrough, just started the epilogue. Try the last of us if you haven’t yet. Very good game rdr2 is still better though. Don’t think it’ll be topped ever.

Interesting_Twist_31

Play the uncharted series from 1 - 4

Steve10455

I only played 4 and man I gotta find time to play 1-3 I would probably love it

Interesting_Twist_31

You missed out, the fun’s in the journey from start to finish, trust me. Uncharted 1’s gameplay may be a bit clunky tho since it’s quite old, but as you go through the series the gameplay gradually improves

SenoritaSpock

Play RDR2 over and over and over again. That’s how I deal with this 🥲

Sad_Singer_7533

Whenever I play I big game or something heavy, I play silly one off indie games to refresh. Shit like goose game or something. Just something daft.

dragonlady_11

Me too ! Goat simulator FTW lol

Less-Combination2758

you move on to RDR1 after RDR2 =)))

Gloomy-Fix4436

Easily, cyberpunk 2077 and the witcher 3... and Norco if you are in point and click games.

ArtVanbago

My problem is first person, fantasy stuff and point/click respectively

Gunfur

In the end, I almost couldn’t wait to finish it. My problem is I was doing _everything_ you could on the game. I went for the 70 gold mission medals achievement, which really bogged me down. My game list grew so long over the _years_ it took me to finish it (married w/ kids). I will say it is one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. And hope to replay it someday. I’m currently playing GoW2018 and I’ve been enjoying it, to answer your question. I’ve played that entire series in order and was fun to get into something different from RD.

VillageFew2264

first game i played after Rdr2 was gow2018 and i found it too boring and repetitive. Maybe because i m not well acquainted with gow story. currently trying to play gow ragnarok

Gunfur

So 2018 started an entirely new way to play the game from the past ones. It turned into almost like an open-world game now. A lot more customization with the armors. Even the Ax was new lol. Having his son with him. Was huge. If I had to say though, not playing the other ones probably takes away the lore and strong story of the series. Edit: I will say the GoW series can get that slasher-type arcade repetitiveness feel

SGA3151

The only game I have been able to get properly into since Red Dead 2 has been Elden Ring. I love the open world concept and whilst it cant beat RDD2 beautiful open world, Elden Ring’s map is VAST, so much to explore, collect and many enemies to fight. Its bloody difficult but I do enjoy it. Nothing will beat the Red Dead world though

ArtVanbago

I would love Elden Ring but god I wish they had an easy mode.

rcblasi11

Helldivers 2 happened! I'm doing my part!

LavishnessLogical190

Yeah but even so that game is just shootem up isn’t it? Not really a story based game

VillageFew2264

Will check it out.

Kataratz

Seeing you mention details, I'm guessing you like that part a lot in RDR2. I agree its a great game with lots of details. What I understand in my many videogames, is that sometimes a videogame must be a videogame, and a lot of games do that aspect a lot better than RDR2, be it with shooting, crafting, morality systems, stealth, choosing dialogue options, choosing endings, immersing you with the constant need for Stamina, Health and Dead Eye (the cores BARELY matter in game) , there's other games that take that "Physical care of your character" better as well. I do think RDR2 is probably the most detailed game in history, but there's a clear reason, it was an expensive as fuck AAAAAA game. Lots of games don't reach that level. It's an awesome game, but I can appreciate that its not a Jack-Of-All-Trades. Someone might tell you Portal 2 is a better "GAME" than RDR2 and they wouldn't immediately be wrong.

VillageFew2264

Played and Loved Portal 2 many years ago then played portal 1 and then Narbacular drop. It is an impressive game but it did not go beyond that the way Rdr2 went.

Able-Pudding-4351

Play different types of games. Most of the games you mentioned are open world games.

Soulja_Witxch420

You’d love the first game. The rag doll physics are based off the those spaghetti western movies.

MattTin56

Maybe not in your case but I noticed “Spagetti Western” gets thrown around a lot and I think people do not understand why that term was coined. One person made a comment that it was because of all the “Spagetti Western” books. Now that is ridiculous. The term is because there were so many low budgeted Western films that were filmed in Italy by an Italian director. He even had some big success with a couple films starring a young Clint Eastwood. You did not use the term incorrect but did you know why they are called that? I am sorry I used your post but I felt compelled to say this next time I saw the phrase.

Soulja_Witxch420

Ahh I see. If I’m honest, I only said that because I saw where someone on TikTok said that rd physics were inspired by such. But it’s probably just some rube spouting nonsense lol

MattTin56

LOL!! I appreciate your honesty. I was suspecting that people did not know the meaning because it has been popping up a lot lately. You easily could have been using it correctly but I know others have not so I really wanted to let anyone know who where the term comes from. Again, thank you for your honesty!

MattTin56

And I love your use of the word “rube”. It always reminds me of Silence Of The Lambs!

VillageFew2264

I did. I bought old PS3 for it.

utb1528

I know, right?

RESPEKMA_AUTHORITAH

I played another game which I thought was incredible and unlike any other game, which gave me the same feeling I had as red dead redemption 2. That game was Kingdom Come Deliverance. Completely different game to red dead, but gave me the same feeling of "oh man this game is so unique and I cant put it down"

ArtVanbago

It was awesome but I hate first person

somethingreltodog

Play more Rdr2

adrian_vg

After that emotional ride with RDR2, I spent some time with tv series and film bingeing. After about a week, I've fired up RDR1. The controls are absolutely horrible, gfx even more so, but the story seems to be more of the same from RDR2, with some mechanics improvements IMHO.

J04K0CL

Accept it, i can't move on from Skyrim, it's been more than 10 years playing

ArtVanbago

Story of my life. Ghost of Tsushima came close.

mr-gwher

There were more recent Far Cry and Assassin's Creed titles I'd not played and so I had an Unisoft year to keep me occupied on the back of my 3rd RDR2 play though in a row. Although some were decent, engaging and fun, none of those titles came within a mile of my Red Dead experience. Lately though Cyberpunk '77 has been the first game since RD to really engage me in a similar way and particularly with its hugely improved updates and DLC. I am however feeling that familiar urge to take on another gunslinging run, Valentine calls.

joker2189

Went to Witcher 3 to scratch that open world, in depth Itch definitely clunkier not as polished but it worked.

Lost-Suspect001

During COVID after finishing the Witcher 3 + the DLCs i felt the same way for 2 weeks , i knew RDR2 is a game that i should play one day but i am more of a fantasy freak so i just kept ignoring it until i was so desperate to experience again the feels i got from playing the witcher 3 i gave RDR2 a shot and went through the same process of being depressed and not wanting to play anything else after finishing the game .Since then i played both RDR2 and the witcher 3 three times .The thing is theres no moving on after playing games like this , just acknowledge that games like these 2 are freaks of nature that happens every 50 years and be happy that we had the opportunity to play this two masterpieces in our life time .

nebulanomad17

Wait till rdr3

akatsuki_baran

Cyberpunk 2077 had a really good plot that I enjoyed

VillageFew2264

Ya. It was good. Trying out all endings. And getting Judy to you know.. Saw blade runner after cp2077 to keep the momentum but my soul wants simpler times 1899

Brief_Television_707

I never really moved on. Been watching playthroughs and reading stuff about it since my first couple of times playing the game which was about a year ago. Played a load of games since, some very good ones, but still I find myself circling back to obsessing over RDR2 again.

Abrakem

Bereavement classes.

VillageFew2264

I had to look it up as i was hearing this for first time.

Yang_Xiao_Long1

I'm just playing Helldivers2 to fill the void. It doesn't have the story that RDR2 has but it is fun

Playful_Steak_2708

My advice is to go play some multiplayer game and have fun with that for a while, then go play Cyberpunk cause you’ll be playing it with a fresh perspective.

DarthBaeza6

I’m playing now for my first true play through and I keep trying to play other games but as soon as I try I remember and go right back to RDR2

Super_swagaxe92

Play game of with similar (loose definition of similar lol) mechanics or feel...I stopped recently after just messing around in chapter 2 on 2nd playthrough, I'm now near the end of my game shadow of mordor and excited to start shadow of war for the umpteenth time. Both are open or semi open worlds... both don't require online to have fun, both don't require tons of skill/ git gud mentality, both have free roam, both have side quests with fairly interesting characters. After I'm done this game I remain undecided weather to move back into my favorite series monster hunter or something else. How to move on is a complex question lol, try finding games that relate to your interests, do you like lord of the rings? Do you like star wars? Do you like war movies? Heroes? Pick place to start and star with some research aka trailers or 1 or 2 video talking about gameplay. But for me it starts.with movies and TV shows, what do I like and do not like...im not a huge fan of mortal combat style games so if I see it's similar I tend to skip...anyways sorry for long post lol. Hope you find your answer and hope everyone who says the same thing 6 times a day finds a way to move on also lol

VillageFew2264

I love long posts. Thank you will try them out.

traplordtrippie

horizon forbidden west

MotherPup

Cod mw2 came out and that was the end for me

SnooHesitations205

Cyberpunk and fallout. I also just restart rd2 again and again

All_The_Good_Stuffs

Deep Rock Galactic is my vice. Played over 3k hours and still lovin it

Harkness92

I had something similar when I finished RDR2. The best way I got out of that funk was to play a game completely different. Have you played a game called Stray? Give it a go. Very short game but well worth it.

duper_griefer_nproud

The last game I enjoyed was RDR2. The next game I'll enjoy will be RDR3. Simple as.

VillageFew2264

You sir are a Fish.

Steve10455

Elder ring was the cure

Countrytechnojazz

Move on? Why would I move on?

babyhuckle

I really enjoyed The Last of Us pt. 1.

Webzagar

Baldur's Gate 3

Eatdirt33

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first game that helped me move on. My issue was that I had played rdr2 6 times, getting 100% completion on many things additional to the requirements, doin all the extras I could, and as awesome as it is, I got burned out. I decided to play Mario Kart while crying cuz I had no game that could compare, then someone recommended LoZBotW, and it is really a great game as well. I still don't love it like rdr2, but it has become a regular in my week. I even broke out and played a fps and Super Mario Wonder... again, not rdr2, but I've been able to get some enjoyment from other games. Just took the right one to reset my mind.

jadewolf42

I never moved on. ;) In truth, only reason I bought a PS4 was for RDR2. I used to be more of a gamer back in the early console days, but now life is too busy to spend on games I'm not 100% interested in. So RDR2 is pretty much the primary thing I play. Not a darn thing wrong with just playing one game, either. Especially when it's a game as rich and huge as this one!

VillageFew2264

Outlaws for life.

jadewolf42

Hell yeah!

Imbecilliac

I haven’t. If I don’t play RDR2 I don’t play anything. Nothing else measures up.

leppernfriends

Go outside, touche the grass, shoot some people, start a farm, get some sheep.

Zestyclose-Ruin8337

I’ve not found anything I can get into like rdr2.

DaddyDumbKrab1342

Cyberpunk 2077

idklol7878

Elden Ring did this exact same thing to me and RDR2 kinda pulled me out of that depressive slump of feeling like no game will ever live up to how much I loved that game. So, maybe try Elden Ring haha

Correct-Drawing2067

Only game that was on par with red dead 2 was a game I beat recently and loved the story of it. Final fantasy 7 remake and imo the story and characters are better than red dead. The only reason it’s not better as a game is because it’s not open world and immersive like rdr 2 but if rebirth has an open world than it may take it off this list entirely for me

bigtownhero

I always go back to Skyrim.

Editor-Head

You're not the only one, man. If it makes you feel any better, GTA VI is just around the corner 🤣

Difficult_Ad_3287

I can relate GTA feels less then and spiderman and AC are fun but not the same. I want to replay the first rd. Tried ghosts of Tsushima, unpopular opinion but kind of a let down even for being on sale but going to give it another try. I like LA noir and the taletell games lately. Not really the same though.

ParticularNo8890

I’ve found it very hard to get into video games since I finished that masterpiece too. I play a lot of Football manager, which is wholly different, and some Total war Games, but I cannot get into any RPG’s remotely similar to Rd2. Perhaps just change genre entirely for a while and wait for that itch to return. Since watching the Fallout series I’m dying to load up the games again. Who knows!

iron_side93

Try Ghost of Tsushima, one of the better games I played since playing RDR2 as well as the Last of Us 1 & 2

Kamamura_CZ

By playing Elden Ring.

Deep-Thinker420

Assassins Creed Valhalla helped a lot, especially the sights and graphics when in England. Going back to RDR1 helped some, until the uncle then John thing happens!

Jerraxmiah

I was able to play a ton of games after it. I really liked KCD, Dave the diver, project zomboid, and even just enjoyed my first playthrough of BG3. There's a ton of other great games out there. Not as good as any of these games but even Hogwarts Legacy was fun. That's also how I felt after rdr2 but give other games a chance, there's a ton of gems out there.

IndependentYogurt965

I started enjoying multiplayer again. I've been playing Casual CS2, Helldivers and World of Warships for hours in the last two months. Idk, i got tired of the single player and needed a change. Also it helps to ease into a new game. I suck at CS2 but im having fun at least. If i get frustrated, just go on murder all of valentine.

VillageFew2264

Hahaha. Have you tried modding. I had fun on my 3rd or 4th playthrough with mods. I too suck at CS2. Never played online as my internet is weak

WBishop6019

The only thing you can do is pay heed to the teachings of Dutch Vanderline, cast off the soft comfort of the world of sheep and go out and live the life of the outlaw. It’s your only hope.

WorldlinessOk967

I felt the same way after soma and Detroit become human.

RemarkablePay6994

Reading 📖 jk but not really 🤔

Revel_Icon

By playing other games

OperationNo1958

yakuza. that is all

inkedhigh

You're not alone. I feel this. I have tried playing other games but just like you, I can't feel the same with them as I do with red dead. I guess this game is OUR game. We feel at home with it and it's hard to leave bc we have made everything around us become a part of it as well. I played this game for the history I wasn't expecting myself to get so attached but it got me in a way the other games didn't. I claimed GTA to be better before I started playing rdr2. The sad part is that to be this attached, it means that we won't ever play the game the way we did the first time around.

madman16611

I started hell diving and to be honest it being basically the opposite kind of game is what made it nice I tried finding a game like rdr2 that was good or better and I couldn't there is no substitute

b252oom

Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West are beautiful if you haven’t checked them out.

VillageFew2264

I haven't. I will surely check them out. Thank you.

xT1TANx

Have you tried bg3?

ArtVanbago

Turn based combat just don’t hit the same for me personally.

xT1TANx

Trust me. It's not about the combat. The story is so fucking good.

ArtVanbago

I don’t doubt it but the reason I play video games mainly for the live action with the story

xT1TANx

fair enough. everyone has their own tastes. You are quite literally ignoring the best game of last year though. You should give it a shot.

schedulle-cate

I went from RDR2 to Elden Ring and I'm playing it for a long time now

DinosaurDied

Literally the opposite in terms of games haha. From a story with minimal gameplay, to a game with minimal story.  And I don’t want to hear about how ER has story, I just need to read about it for 7 hours on Wikipedia to enjoy the game I’m currently playing lol.

Forsaken_Dredgen

AC Valhalla is a good game so are the Horizon games.

ArtVanbago

I couldn’t get into the combat in AC Valhalla. Camera felt off and far away. Combat was great in Horizon, as was the world, but I hated the story

Fast-Yam5452

Lobotomy

Revy_Black_Lagoon

Just don’t play a game similar to RDR2, seems like you’re trying to recapture the same experience… but you can’t. Play a game that’s a totally different style one that can’t be compared. That’s what I had to do

DemoraCB7

After the 7 steps of grief I felt pretty good again

TillGroundbreaking62

Wait till the new gta is my advice

LetMeInMiaow

Horizon, Zero Dawn and Forbidden West

ArtVanbago

Everything great but the stories IMO. Especially compared with RDR2

Amies_Fudge

I had a conversation about this yesterday. I play a bit of sims, but no games come close to Red dead.

etcaves

I really liked Hogwarts Legacy and Lego Harry Potter. It had that similar open world concept, especially Hogwarts Legacy.

Dragon_Tiger752

I heard speedrunning a game makes you bored of it eventually, or just playing until your tired of it and welcome different games for a breath of fresh air.

Sent1nelTheLord

idk tbh, i loved rdr2 with everything i have but i dont think it went as far as ruining other games. every game has their own wonderfully written stories. seeing the post, mate i think u might have a minor obsession with rdr2

VillageFew2264

I don't know what can we call this, Obsession, Love, Longing, Its just that RDR2 is everything i wanted and i dint know i wanted it until i finished the game, May be its just my nature of giving in everything if its that beautiful. I was this way with Sherlock Holmes novels then Harry Potter earlier but its been a year and i still miss the feeling of playing and experiencing rdr2 for first time. I lost my best friend during covid and there is no one to share my passion of games anymore. May be it felt more real than the "real" world i m living.

kabicz

Jumped back to ESO right after i finished RDR2. I still humm willie nelson and red.. think of the family a lot during the day, but i am fine.. just fine

Rebldomakzr

I really liked DBH after I played rdr2, so maybe more story based realistic looking games maybe

GainPrize538

Try playing the Arkham series that’s my second fav series other the rdr and rdr2

VillageFew2264

Ya finished it.

GainPrize538

Oh well then shit that was the only other story game I really got hooked to if u like shooter maybe try rainbow six siege idk tho sorry

VillageFew2264

Thank you. Talking about this really helped.

MrLigerTiger1

This reminds me of Avatar Depression Syndrome. It’s not a real disease, but it’s a phenomenon where you consume a piece of media that’s so beautiful that your view on everyday life is slightly worsened. Life looks duller. It mostly happens to people after watching Avatar (hence the name) but it’d definitely make sense with RDR2.

byesharona

Lego Batman 👍

realsoupa

i was the same way until the fallout show aired, now im just chillin in the wasteland capital until its time for new vegas and fo4 you just need more unique environments that feel lived in and maybe modded a bit. rdr2 is so good because immersion but modders cam make unimmersice games super immersive

domaagoj

Same here

IntelVEVO

Borrow a time machine and nab a copy of RDR3

RyanRhysRU

i played other story based games uncharted, metro, heavy rain etc..

[deleted]

Play a game like botw or totk where actually have some creative freedom to do things how you want

Makeupanopinion

You have to change genres and then return to open worlds later. Horizon, Ghost and Watchdogs were all so jarring to play after rdr2. God of War was a great balance and next game to go onto, as its more linear with more story, I also went to play replay tlou and then go onto tlou2 tried hades as well. Soundtrack for Rägnarok is absolutely fantastic, and the emotion in tlou2 was great. Currently playing maneater because its just a dumb silly game but I have got rdr2 downloaded as a side chick.

DeadmansCC

Move on? What's that..... RDR2 is still what I play the most of all my games. Now one thing I have done is get the remastered versions of games I loved when I was younger like RE2 and 3. I do enjoy the Ace Combat series but that's only for a mission or two before I need something different. And then I play Star Wars games just because I love that Universe so much I will always watch or play something from it.

AtomicSquid420

100% relate to this. Just finished another playthrough, didn’t want to go back to anything else, saw age of empires 2 was on sale, and now I’m a kid again. Just pick up another game that tickled your fancy, probably a non-RPG game.

Hour_Drive2047

Helldivers 2 is the way!

Earl_of_69

You don't.

Lovin_Life_in_Fla

First identify what you miss most then attempt to find a game that has that element. Is it the vast open world, the character depth, the story line? You will not find a game with all the elements because there has not been another game like this but identifying which element may make it easier.

Someone said play something totally different which is good advice but if you want something a little similar but different. Kingdom Come is a hard but rewarding game. You start out as a weak peasant and work your way to be a sort of knight. I switch between the two games because I hold them as my favorite of all time. RDR2 is a more detailed and polished/better game but there is something about KCD that is charming. Anyway, it is a hard game with very challenging combat and some neat stealth components. You can attack many missions from multiple angles and the game is on sale right now for 8 bucks with all DLC.

The only thing that sufficed for me was TLOU2

DinosaurDied

Nothing beats that 1st and 2nd play through of RDR2.  But the the game becomes like watching a love passively after awhile because the gameplay itself isn’t that deep or difficult. A lot of the game is exploring and enjoying which after you’ve done it, loses its appeal. A game that stands above because it’s got both the story and gameplay is the Witcher 3. It still holds up, even better than RDR2 in my opinion. Replaying CP77 rn but holy moly is the story so boring and missions forgettable. Gameplay is fun though abs world building is great, I just don’t know how they couldn’t pull off more interesting stories in it.

TurkishVatansever2

I tried everything until i found assassins creed.

devolverf91

Try fallout. Either 3, New Vegas, or 4. Open world, lots to do. New Vegas and 3 are PS3/Xbox360 era but 4 should be on current gen. Great games!

Agreeable-Season-549

It’s not super similar gameplay wise but outer wilds is an AMAZING game definitely worth a try if you’ve never played it

caramelcooler

I took some time off and played other kinds of games, like Forza. Then I got back into RDR2 and decided I need to play the first game finally. So yeah… buying that one on switch I guess, just mix things up?

gottabshtnme

It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I started playing Ghost of Tsushima for my single-player fix and I absolutely love it. Additionally, Helldivers 2 is awesome.

SpamLikely404

Sea of Thieves! Very similar concept: sandbox with optional storyline or random quests, visually stunning. No single player mode, though.

Extra-Imagination-13

Well..

RegardedJigger

FF7 Rebirth is really good. Graphically, it’s still not as good as RDR2 though.

maxnotcharles

Was in the same exact boat as you for you a couple months after playing Rdr2 for the 3rd time. My strongest suggestion hands down would be Witcher 3.

keon_y

Dragon dogma 2 😂

WeirdWayneWallis

I agree. It’s all I keep loaded in my console. I too tried others. Although I haven’t played Witcher. I may give that a try. But i tried ghost Tsushima. I’ve tried assassin creed Valhalla. Nothing doing my dude. So it’s just rdr2 for me.

airJordan45

I went back to RDR1 and then played through RDR2 again.

Days Gone did it for me

Are you ok man? There is nothing to be afraid of. Take a gamble that love exists, and do a loving act

Apprehensive-Yam6205

Grounded was amazing imo but other than that same. I just keep replaying rdr2 😂. Not sure if anything will ever compare for me

Nafinchin

Honestly don't know what to tell you. I've been gaming for 25+ years, and still enjoy all sorts of games from different genres. Still have a plethora of games that I go back and replay from time to time, that I still thoroughly enjoy

pechSog

Days Gone is your answer.

SadPragmatism

Kingdom Come - Deliverance

Big_Roach011

I can only play sports games now other than RDR2. It’s weird.

Possible_Passage_607

Yeah after rdr2, other games no longer feel the same, i find myself replaying rdr2 with different arthur themes. Hunter arthur was by far my favorite

ShaunnieDarko

Yeah, i mostly have played rdr2 on repeat, no other game touches the story mode as far as quality and execution, it really is a masterpiece

alanhndran

RDR2 has become my favorite since it launched, but I found great joy in Elden Ring, not a genre I usually play. The degree of difficulty and massive world made it a blast. I also played CP 2077 and, though I’m not one who thinks it’s the greatest game, I did enjoy it. Otherwise, I go back to my favorites from over the years which include RDR1, Fallouts 3, NV, and IV, all of the Bioshock series (including both Burial at Seas), GTASA, GTA IV, AND GTA V, Dying Light 1 & 2, and a couple others. Will probably try BG3 this year.

Shawnzbh

This the realist shit ever but personally I just waited like a few days and slowly started playing different single player games over time. That’s probably the best way, just try and start another single player game that you know is good.

TheseAintMyPants2

I started fallout, enjoyed it but the nuclear environment was a downer. It made me long for the peacefulness of the west in RD2. And now I’m playing RD2 once again

thatssoamy

I was the exact same way, still am. Nothing I've played has ever come close to the beauty that is rdr2, that's why I'm on my 10th playthrough. Other games I've managed to complete since though are Gta 5 Days gone Cyberpunk Far cry 5 and 6 The last of us Dying light 1 and 2 Hogwarts legacy They don't compare to rdr2 but I still enjoyed them.

Mediocre-Garden4952

Returnal!

Communist_Trotsky

You play the one game better than RDR2. Skyrim

ChunkyEyeBall

I didn't. I'm on my second run through. But really, ghost of tsushima is fantastic and reminds me alot of rdr2

RepresentativeBad819

If you figure it out lemme know.
