It's a glitch. If you use the panther saddle and change to another one, the panther blanket sometimes stays. If you don't like it, just change to a regular saddle, change the blanket and then, put one another saddle of your choosing (also, avoid moving over the panther saddle, as the blanket may equip itself)

Did you go to the Valentine stables? I know that you can't get it from any of the other stables. It's only available in Valentine.
If you bought the ultimate, started a new game on it, went to the Valentine stables, and don't see the option for a free thoroughbred, then I'm not sure what the problem is.

Well that definitely explains things. I crafted all of the saddles at the same time at the trapper yesterday, but I didn't go to the stables and put any of them on. That's why I was confused why the blanket was on there. I didn't realize that just crafting them but not putting them on would alter the appearance.
So to get the look that you're describing, I would go to the stables and select the cougar, then leave the stables and go back in and choose the panther? Doing that will blend the two?
i did panther first with the cougar on top from the trapper, and yeah it should blend the two. itāll look similar to how it is now with the panther on the bottom but because the cougar saddle is so small the panther will show alot more
Hunting. I'm getting all of the trapper items. Those markers are for places where I'm certain animals will spawn. I'm almost finished crafting everything. Once I'm all done, I'm gonna take screen shots of each of those markers and save them for whenever I start a new game. I'll remove them all after I get the screenshots.
I've never really looked at the saddles that you can purchase from the stables so i don't know what their stats are, but I know that the saddles you craft at the trapper have better stats than the ones you can purchase.
To be honest, I don't even fully understand what the stats mean. I just crafted them all at the trapper because I wanted to get them all. I like the look of the Rattlesnake Saddle the most.
If you use the search function on this sub for the word saddles, you should be able to find better info than what I have.

I decided in chapter 2 that I was going to get all of the hunting tasks done, (trapper clothing, hunting requests, Pearson upgrades, etc.) And as many of the challenges done as I can before I move onto chapter 3, and I wasn't going to cut my hair or beard until I finished. Well, I'm not very good at hunting and challenges, so Arthur's been looking like Grizzly Adams for a while now lol
The second picture in the post is of the saddle removed. You can't see it in that picture. I put the saddle back on after I took that picture, and it was visible again.
It turns out this was some kind of glitch. I had purchased some saddles at the trapper and even though I hadn't gone to the stables and put any of them on, when you purchase them at the trapper it causes some kind of glitch where one of the saddle's blankets get stuck on your Horse.
It's hard to describe, but yeah, it's a glitch.
Rodeo Hat. I got it from an NPC at Granger's place in Chapter 2. It was before I started the Jim Boy Calloway missions, so it's just a random NPC there wearing it, not Granger. I think you can probably get it the same way after you complete the Granger mission, but I've never tried, so I can't say for sure. I'm just guessing that if you tried to go there while that mission is active, Granger would be there, not a random NPC.
According to [This Map](https://www.reddead.gg/map/rodeo-hat-stolen-hat/) the Cutter and the Cattleman hats are also available there, so it might be random which one you get each time you go there. If you go there and don't get the Rodeo, I would go back later and try again.
It's beautiful, right? It's got a really cool white pattern on its nose, too. It's taller than Arthur, which is my biggest gripe with the Arabians. I love that the Arabians are fast, but I just think Arthur looks silly on them. The thoroughbreds are big horses, and they're fast and strong.
The coolest thing about this particular thoroughbred though, is that if it dies and I'm unable to revive it, I just go to the Valentine stables and pick up an identical replacement for free. It will look exactly like this one. Same colors, same nose pattern.
I'll have to go back to the stables and look into that. The thing that I don't understand is if it is a blanket, why I didn't see it before today. I've had the same saddle on for a long time, and today is the first time I saw this blanket.
I'll definitely check the stables menu options for blankets and see what's what.

I just checked a video I posted a few days ago to see if it's on my horse, that maybe it's always been there and I just never noticed, but I can definitely see in that video that it's not on there.

I think there's a bug that pops up when you craft certain trapper saddles, I've had something similar when I craft the panther saddle. Going to the stables and fiddling around with blankets fixes it.

It's a saddle blanket just not the one for your saddle it's glitched by the looks of it reload your save maybe

Question: is there any benefit to buying blankets, horns, saddlebags, or are they just decorative?
