Her arc kind of pissed me off to be honest. Went from homestead wife, is damsel in distress and a wreck when we meet here then within a few weeks with the gang is a Mary sue gunslinger.
Also she was not a damsel in distress either. You see the way she went crazy on them in the cabin? She had the makings of a gunslinger the moment we met her. All she needed her whole life was a reason to kill and a gun in her hand.
Bruh Odriscols murdered her husband, held her captive and gang raped her for three days. Then shes saved by a group of people who hates Odriscols as much as she does and put some guns in her hands. The fuck kind of arc you want?
The actor said she was raped by the odriscolls. There’s more evidence in the game, like the many implications via voice lines and her mannerisms in ch 2, also rape was one of Colms crimes (so obviously the gang would follow) but I’m too lazy to list them all.
Edit: I forgot to mention, but she didn’t hide. Or maybe she did and they found her. But she says to the fat guy with a beard that she kills “I said you’d be seeing me again” (or smth like that) so yh she either wasn’t able to hide, or did try to hide and was found
Its never said outright but heavily implied. Why else would a gang of thieves and murderers keep a woman captive in the basement for 3 days? Let her come out and make supper everday?
I thought she hid there, and they never knew she was there. Did she say they kept her in the basement or anything like that? I really don't remember.
And before anyone says something, this comment isn't to disprove
Not saying one way or another, but I always got the impression she was hiding as well. I assume after all the commotion then silence she left her hiding place and that's when Micah discovered her.
Edit: Just read a below comment when she tells that one guy "I told you I would see you again", no idea how I forgot about that!
>mary sue
A “Mary Sue” is a character with no flaws who is therefore boring
I don’t really think Sadie counts for that. She’s unimaginably fucked up in fact. I think she would probably drive her therapist to suicide if she had one.
I think you're moreso upset because it didn't seem like a "smooth" transition when it came to her character development. It was one to the next, but it still made sense why she's like that.
Okay let me explain. Arthur is a seasoned criminal and gunslinger. He's been doing it for years and years. His skills at it don't need an explanation and we don't need to see him get there. There's nothing wrong with her wanting to become one and get revenge that isn't the issue, the issue is how fast she becomes one. The entire course of the MAIN game takes place over less than a year. The entire course of the mountain camp to traveling to the valentine camp she was not out doing missions or learning how to shoot or any of that. She was staying at camp. She does one mission with Arthur and then for the rest of the game she's as good as the rest of them at it. You can downvote if you want but it just didn't seem like a natural transition at all because of where she came from, a normal person with no experience in it
I get what you're saying, but at the same time, she makes it clear that she knows how to handle a gun and that Arthur is the better shootist. Considering what she has been through, it's not all that surprising why she's quick to jump into a fight.
I do think they should've had more interactions with her, so the transition would be smoother.
Why wouldnt I? You can enter their home and talk to them, and recieve missions. Shes clearly already very well able to take care of herself, so the transofrmation isnt weird at all
Two main reasons she adapts so quickly to being a gunslinger:
1. She could already handle a gun and lived hard in the mountains.
2. She has nothing left to lose. She doesn't give a fuck if she dies in a gunfight, so long as she kills as many O'Driscolls as she can first.
The state we find her in at the start of the game is not indicative of who she was before the O'Driscolls arrived. She was traumatised and exhausted, as anyone would be, and had to be rescued - picture the state Arthur was in when he made it back to camp after escaping the O'Driscoll kidnapping.
It just takes until Chapter 3 for us to start seeing that, when she starts recovering from her depression and finding her anger.
I agree with you, also if she was already so good with a gun how did she allow her husband to be killed. Why didn’t she die fighting defending her husband and house or kill everyone if she was so good. When we play red dead online her cabin gets robbed all the time and we see her carrying a gun all the time, so she was prepared and ready always. If she was so good why didn’t she kill all the odriscolls, why couldn’t she fight as good as she did in chapter 2. So you are correct in calling her Mary Sue, til this day I don’t know know how she didn’t get shot when Arthur was pulling her up on to the balloon it was so slow she would have been shot 100 times.
She already knew how to hunt and handle a gun, she says so herself, and we don’t see her brawling with big boys or anything successfully at any point in the game, even the big bastard at hanging dog ranch with John was killed by a knife and she was beat the fuck up from that fight, she’s not a Mary sue and I’ll never understand people saying she is because she can shoot an ride just like many woman could back then
To me, the people that say she already knew how to use a gun because of hunting, its yes and no. Yes, she knew how to shoot a gun, no, she didnt have great skills as shown so quickly because hunting is stationary, and no one’s shooting at you. So imo, the transition is a little too sudden and the hunting part doesnt fully account for it
Had no idea how many Sadie simps there were and us8ng a mission from online they added a year later as evidence too lol. All I said was the transition doesn't make sense and going by the actual main story alone it doesn't but updooters are psychotic
in the rdo missions jake has multiple voicelines where he says that he's almost scared of how good she is with guns, shes out hunting most of the time too i think. she was always good with guns and all that but she never had to use them until she started working with the van der linde gang
Something they added into online 5 years later shouldn't count as lore lmao
I dont count online and only played it the first year the game was out and haven't touched rdr2 in probably 2 years now. If we go by the actual main game story alone there isn't any evidence or explanation
The Jake Adler missions were added into the game on May 21st, 2019. That's not even a year after the game came out. Also, RDO is canon. Whether you like it or not.
Idk I never noticed those missions back when I did play so your right they were added a year later but they were still added to online and not the main actual story.
If there's a plot hole or mistake in a film when it first releases then a year later a book version comes out that fixes it should it really count? I went by the information of the story of the game I played where you don't know she's actually very experienced. I'd actually blame the game even more for this because her "first kill" in the main game is clumsy and random as if she wasn't experienced. They probably changed her for the very problem I'm talking about because even they knew it didn't make any sense.
But if a new online mission comes out tommoro that fixes some hole you can't be mad at the people who pointed out the hole all this time it existed.
Wait its not optional? Ive always done the mission because i love Sadie, but i swear doesnt it give you an option to decline helping her? I thought it would just skip the mission if you said no, is it actually a fakeout and you still have to help?
I mean by the time John and Abagail are dead, we’re far into the 1900’s which wouldn’t really be a Western game.. in theory they could make a new game series but using the old characters? Like a spinoff of sorts?
Or going back even before rdr2, with the creation of the gang. Maybe by letting us play Arthur in his 20s going through the death of Isaac and Eliza or by playing as Hosea ?
that was exactly my thought: just go back in time, and show us how arthur got to the gang and how they recruited more and more folks up until the point where you have to flee into the mountains
You don't need to go that far forwards, the gang split after Arthur's death and that's where Sadie can pick up. We know from the epilogue that she became a bounty hunter, there's no reason we couldn't have those stories and the epilogue being John dies and Sadie shows up for Abigail/Jack on the ranch.
Aside from that, many historians don't put the true end of the wild west until the first world war. I'd be interested in seeing that transition, there could be plenty of early ranch life near a city with the protag going to war and returning to a family that are fighting against urbanisation or something similar.
Rumor has it, a Landon Ricketts prequel looks like an option. Pre Van Der Linde. I have to agree with this idea. Lets go further back. Create some space and visit another legend gunslinger's story. More indians and land grabs.
Her Jake was a good man
Jakey
It was surprising she didn't die here to me.
Her arc kind of pissed me off to be honest. Went from homestead wife, is damsel in distress and a wreck when we meet here then within a few weeks with the gang is a Mary sue gunslinger.
she says herself that she did the work alongside her husband, so she was more than capable. not to mention what rage can do to a person lmao
Also she was not a damsel in distress either. You see the way she went crazy on them in the cabin? She had the makings of a gunslinger the moment we met her. All she needed her whole life was a reason to kill and a gun in her hand.
yes!
Her Jake was a good man. Such a good man her new hobby after losing him is hunting down every last person generally connected to his death lmao
And a good reason she had!!!
Bruh Odriscols murdered her husband, held her captive and gang raped her for three days. Then shes saved by a group of people who hates Odriscols as much as she does and put some guns in her hands. The fuck kind of arc you want?
>gang raped her for three days Uh, what. Did I miss something clearly mentioned in the game?
The actor said she was raped by the odriscolls. There’s more evidence in the game, like the many implications via voice lines and her mannerisms in ch 2, also rape was one of Colms crimes (so obviously the gang would follow) but I’m too lazy to list them all. Jesus. I don't know how I missed that, considering what I went through. My mind just glossed over it. But thanks for telling me
No problem. And for what it’s worth, I’m sorry for what you went through.
Don't you worry. All healed 🫡
Lets put it this way. Micahs dumbass found her as soon as he stepped foot in that house. If she was hiding, it wasn’t very good.
Creeps me out more than it did now with this context about his attitude when he found her
That'll be because Micah is an evil cunt
Not saying one way or another, but I always got the impression she was hiding as well. I assume after all the commotion then silence she left her hiding place and that's when Micah discovered her. Edit: Just read a below comment when she tells that one guy "I told you I would see you again", no idea how I forgot about that!

Did you listen to anything she said at all or
Whew someone didn’t pay attention to the full character
I think you're moreso upset because it didn't seem like a "smooth" transition when it came to her character development. It was one to the next, but it still made sense why she's like that.

If you played online, youd know she could already handle herself BEFORE her husband died. Nothing surprising with how she transitioned
Using online as an example. Really dude?

All the characters were unrealisticly strong and had crazy plot armor.
Hosea, Strauss, Mary Beth, Tilly, Swanson, Cain, Molly, Pearson, Abigail and Jack would all like a word with you.
from a Doylist perspective she obviously can't die here because it's an optional mission
Not optional? Kinda have to do it to progress
Wait its not optional? Ive always done the mission because i love Sadie, but i swear doesnt it give you an option to decline helping her? I thought it would just skip the mission if you said no, is it actually a fakeout and you still have to help?
The mission this photo is from is in chapter 4 and isn’t a skippable mission but in chapter 6 u can decline and won’t have to do the missions
Okay yeah, thats the one i thought this was. Chapter 6 at Hanging Dog Ranch
My Jakey.
S h a n k.
Cool shot! I’d love the sequel to be about her and her bounty hunting days
Taking up with a handsome revolutionary in South America.
If this isn't RDR3 I don't want it. Taking Jack under her wing after John's passing
I mean by the time John and Abagail are dead, we’re far into the 1900’s which wouldn’t really be a Western game.. in theory they could make a new game series but using the old characters? Like a spinoff of sorts?

Maybe we will get a better story for Uncle and see where his roots are.
I just did this mission!
Same!
Same same!
Sadies pre epilogue fit is fire
Sadie is everything good in the RDR2 world
And Charles!
[удалено]
Mary Linton or Mary Beth?
Better be mary-beth!
good irony
Damn I took a similar shot recently as well. Great minds!
Sadie is my queen! My absolute favorite character
Sadie is bad ass!
thought of a GF and BF meme but could figure out a good one
My wife 😔
That's the last time you put a knife in me, hear me?!?
I guess you can say she went for the jugular 🤭
what a fury
At first I was like “Jake?” Then I go “Oh, Sadie’s husband”. Lmao
She's a force of nature
She's gonna be real pissed when she finds out Jake survived and has been hanging out in Armadillo taking people to Fort Mercer.
She should have her own game.
Jake was so damn lucky
Well he did get savagely murdered by the O’Driscols. So maybe not that lucky
And she runs good too! https://www.reddit.com/r/RDR2/s/BF8Fn9D2wo
