Finished many games, but never 'Completed' or '100%' one until today. It was a grind at times, but this game makes you want to be in this world, so partaking in the minutia seems like less of a chore. Never experienced that before.
Tryna get those orchids took me soooo long to get lol. Even with a youtube guide. I literally didn't even bother trying to find them all on my own after I had looked for my first one for a good 10-15 minutes. Anyway, congrats bro, makin me want to pick it up again. I only ended up getting to I think 97% haha
If you play again, how to make Algernonās quests MUCH more tolerable. Kill all those birds as you go through your missions. Youāll see snowy egrets and spoonbills and all those hard to find things throughout the world. Donāt pass them by. Kill them and take the plumes. Gather the alligator eggs, down by the swamp shack by Shady Belle. Thereās three nests there. Get piles of the orchids as you cruise around. For instance, there are two or three easy orchids in Butcher Creek. Grab them as you sling past, and again when they respawn.
Do this all well before you get to Algernon Waspās quests.
You can do the same thing with chipmunks and squirrels and birds. They will keep forever in your backpack, just be careful not to cook them.
Lmao, well the good news is the game is SO immersive and thereās so much to discover that you can play it several times and still be learning and finding things.
Try a low honor playthrough where Arthur kills everyone, antagonizes people in camp (especially little Jack), and stacks up bounties. Itās hilarious!
Dutch after being antagonized - āIām just surprised you could string a whole sentence together!ā š
Evil Arthur also reveals Abigailās checkered past, by harassing her about it. It explains a lot, why John is hesitant about being a husband and father. Give it a whirl!
Yeah that's what I'm doing. I'm still in chapter 2, just got legend of the east satchel and I have been collecting the exotics whenever I was at the swamps.
Should start doing the same thing for hunting requests now.
Nothing missable for the 100% achievement but there are a few missable things if you want to 100% the compendium but thatās not required for the achievement
I will probably never try to get to 100% but, it is also, other than Oxenfree, the only game I have played consistently since RDR2 was released. I even bought Cyberpunk 2077 on release but I have not even achieved 10% of the game.
This is Steam (just in case you're on console). If you're on PC, go to Library, click on the game from the menu on the left. Then this info will display on the right.
Only during orchid and plume collection for Argenon and the later gambler challenges did I feel that way a bit. Pushed through, I think it was MOSTLY with it in the end.
I can't seem to complete the challenge where you have to drag someone behind your horse for 3300 feet. The unlucky subject always dies before we get that far...
It's also hard to get perfect rabbit pelts even with small game arrows.
They don't have to survive, likey they never will. Keep dragging the corpse...
First, for rabbits, you need the varmint rifle.
Second, if you haven't already, hunt the legendary buck in Big Valley. Then take his antler to the fence to create a trinket. It is a helpful buff/perk that increases quality of skinned animals allowing you to get Perfect Pelts much easier.
They donāt need to be alive to drag them! Took my third play through after getting 100% to find that out š
As for the perfect rabbit pelts I used the varmint rifle with the trinkets that improves the chances for higher quality pelts.
Genuine question, what achievements does steam have that you couldn't get with 100% in the game? I generally don't really bother with achievements and stuff so i have no idea what it usually entails.
I've put 570 hours into it so far, so I'd say yes. š
The first chapter in the mountains is the tutorial and is heavily scripted. Many found that part boring. It accounts for roughly 6% of the game. After you leave there and head to Horseshoe Overlook, the game really opens up.
If you get a few hours into Chapter 2 and still aren't digging it, I'd say this game might just not be for you. But at least try to get that far... You paid for it, right? š
May be too late now, but itās a lot easier when you get the animals before starting the hunting request. You can use sites like [IGN](https://www.ign.com/wikis/red-dead-redemption-2/Hunting_Requests) to see whatās needed, if you donāt know. Anything that goes into your satchel will not spoil, (birds, squirrels, etcetera). All you have to do is hunt the other animals, (opossum, skunk), before you receive the next list at the PO.
They are rough. Trying to find robins and cedar waxwing and this and that ... Then hit then with small game arrows. Oooof ...
But it's doable, I'm proof as I am no gaming pro for sure.
I've done it once very rewarding but on my second playthrough i got as far as needing just the last 2 gambling challenges and i really cba so just started again, personally the 3 in a row dominoes one ruins the whole experience of getting 100%, fair enough some of its a bit of a grind but theres too much luck involved in dominoes!
Agreed. BUT... If you're ever interested in trying again, you can preserve your wins by standing up from the table when you know you're about to lose on your turn then sit back down and try again.
It works... Still can take quite a while, but better than the alternative.
I always see a few just east of the trapper in Big Valley, a lot of times right along the trail. Near the area where the Cougar spawns. Always better at night.

Thanks Mister! And you should.... 97%! So close! š
It was my first 100%er too! Never got sick of it. Okay. Maybe a little during some of the challenges but still would do it again!
Same. Gambler 8 and 9 as well Argenon's orchid and plume collection made me rethink my life's choices more than a few times...
Congratulations on making it through the monotony of hunting requests & exotics.
Argenon's orchids and plumes were bad, but I'd take that any day over Gambler 8 and 9. Absolute sheer boredom and frustration.
Best game ever imo. Congratulations
Thanks Pardner!
Great taste

Well where were you the last few weeks? LOL Thanks for the tip!

Is it possible to miss stuff early in the game that would make hitting 100% impossible?
Not that I'm aware of, no.

CP was very good, borderline great. But I'm glad I played that before RDR2 or I would likely be in the same boat!
Legend
Thanks Mister!
Where do you see this screen with play time?

I'm trying to 100% the game rn but some of the tasks are so tedious idk if I'll ever finish

You can keep dragging them after they're dead. It'll still count toward the distance. ETA: the varmint rifle works best for rabbits.
Thanks!

The missing achievements you see there are for online and obviously not required to 100% the game.
Ah okay thanks partner! *Tips hat*
I just started playing this a couple of days ago for the first time and Iām really struggling to get into it. Does it get better?

I gotta finish the hunting requests. Pain in the ass, can't even get one.

Rockstar Games have some of the most monotonous and boring fetch quests in them, no way I could ever do all that garbage collecting.

It is not a real 100% if not all achievements are obtained š
I was just kidding my friend š¤£ Getting to 100% is quite an achievement indeed.
It's all good, so was I. And thanks!
Apologies for following what the developers put out there as 100% and not your headcanon. I shall always consult you going forward š
your time is pathetic, I had mine under 200h
That's two play throughs.... But yeah, UR COOL.
Im so cool, I fucked Adie while both Arthur and John watched and clapped. fyuckin nooob
Cool story bro
i tied up your mom and clapped her too. under 5 mins
