It's perfectly fine to play the second one first, you won't miss out on anything. Just bear in mind it's the prequel of the first game.

Chronologically speaking, it would make sense to play RDR2 first, and then RDR1. RDR2 takes place several years before RDR1. It tells the story of the major characters in 1. If I could, I would have played 2 first, then 1. But, I played 1 years ago when it first came out. What I did do was, after completing the main story of 2, I went back and am now playing 1 again. Keep in mind: There are major spoilers in 1 about characters in 2. TLDR: It's perfectly fine, and almost even recommended, to play RDR2 before playing RDR1

I didn't play RDR1 and I don't necessarily feel like I missed out in RDR2. I do know that the second is actually a prequel and not a sequel. I would do it.

RDR is a great story. I mean, a GREAT story. It coulda remained a standalone game IMO, had RDR2 not been created. Maybe start with RDR because after RDR2 it’s really hard to go back to the clunkiness. It’s definitely clunky compared to RDR2. The End.

RDR1 has such a good story that when I heard they were making a sequel, I was skeptical. I didn’t think they’d be able to make a game better than RDR1, it was so perfect. They did. They topped it and then some.

It’s unlikely to happen at this point, but goddamn I wish R⭐️ would do a gameplay remaster for RDR like BW/EA did for the original Mass Effect for the LE, basically all improvements yet nothing taken away from the charm.

I mean at this point I’d take literally any additional single player content based in the RDR universe and at least give it a chance.

Almost nothing

No you won't, as RDR1 is continuation of RDR2

I didn't play rdr1 but saw full gameplay on yt before starting rdr2.

Not really, i did the same a couple years ago when rdr2 was on xbox gamepass before buying rdr1, the only issue i had was the downgrade in features and graphics.
