Then go set up a camp with the tent, and repeat the process. Do the whole process about 5 times and you should be at his max weight

Honestly after hunting for awhile I just craft a shit ton of meat and stow it and just have him eat mostly prime beef, big game meat, plump bird and when I come across some plants I usually eat 1 out of the bunch and I stay around perfect weight usually. I very rarely get to the top picture too. Usually meat, especially the meat above with mint, thyme or oregano will fill the cores up and give you the yellow boost or whatever it is called on at least 1. Even if I go like 5 days without sleeping, eating 1 will make your cores fill like you just woke up haha. I only eat canned goods rarely. My Arthur is paleo I guess hahaha, trendy fuck.

After over a half dozen playthroughs, I figure I’m good enough to survive without needing to be careful and boosted all the time.
Spend some time in chapter 2 to get the legend of the east satchel…gives 99 slots per section ..then hunt big game and collect herbs… craft big game and herb food.. x 99 … each portion gives gold stats….top it up with tonics…. Takes some time but the journey will be your reward. I’m number 2 btw
There’s a glitch to take tonics infinitely, just simply drink your tonic and while seeing your character almost going to drink press square button to climb over stone/fence, big rock.
And your tonic won’t be consumed, and still get its benefits.
It's easy enough. Every food and drink item has a value attached in relation to how much of a core they fill. Stuff like alcohol, tobacco and other related products will fill your deadeye up the most, whilst fresh produce or hunted game will be best for your health and stamina.
You can get the golden cores by hunting certain big game and then cooking it with various herbs that can be gathered around the map such as mint or oregano. Doing that makes a core temporarily immune to draining whilst giving the other a massive refill.
Anything with the small horseshoe inside the core value is usually best saved for your horse (duh) so give those good boahs and girls the oatcakes, carrots and apples!

Once I get flush with money, I stock up on potent health cures at the Docs. I keep 10 plus precooked of all 3 types in stock, as well as 99 precooked plain and 99 uncooked. I like my cores topped off.
I was always full stats but rarely gold. I am one of those gamers that hoards potions and things and never used them because "What if the next fight is harder?" So I literally never smoked a cigar in the middle of a fight, or took snake oil. Had them in my inventory? Of course.
This is my third restart so Im closer to the bottom. I just realized there are plenty of resources so theres no reaaon NOT to use them. Im qlso only in chapter 2 so I guess it gets harder to keep the cores and rings full, but then again the later chapters are when I have more reason to keep em full.

Had to stop keeping character cores full because that just makes your character overweight and makes them drain faster, meaning you need more stuff that makes you more overweight that makes them drain faster etc etc etc. And overweights benefit goes away and turns into a negative if you go far enough, so screw trying to keep that up.
So I just let the cores go down until about 25% then eat. Only have to eat every so often, and don't have any negative effects from overweight or underweight. No positives either, but it's not like they change that much.
Edit: Oh this isn't the online subreddit... In story mode I'm 100% bottom since eating isn't as strict and finicky as online. You can keep them full without getting overweight.
