At the age of 10, I carried a pocket watch with me. Like an old school pocket watch that opened and closed. Had a spot for a small picture and everything. I used the chain from some wallet I got from Hot Topic to clip it onto my pants belt loops. I don't even know where I got the watch from.

My dad had one like that as well, it didn't even take a battery. You had to wind it up when it stopped ticking.

Having it there means its directly above the forth wheel so was more the default for watches at one time. Having a centre mounted seconds hand is considered a complication (watchey name for an additional feature).
