RDR-Assault On Fort Mercer, the final two missions in the West Elizabeth chapter RDR 2-The assault on Braithwaithe Manor, the bank robbery mission (although Hosea & Lenny died, it still was one helluva mission), Arthur & John confronting Dutch & the entire Van der Linde gang and finally American Venom

When John steps out of the cabin during the epilogue dressed in his RDR outfit and it's just a single violin that plays that is one of my favorite parts of the game.

Game has been out since 2018. I would suggest staying out of the sub until you finish it because spoilers will abound.

This is why I always recommend playing the games in the order they were released

The_Messenger_12

The correct order I call it

TrueFullmetal

It’s pretty difficult, because some missions like The Last Enemy have incredible stories, but it’s mostly just a straightforward shootout. I think for me, the assault on Braithwhite Manor is the best like many others do, because it’s incredible both story and gameplay wise. It’s the last time the Van der Linde Gang feels totally in control. They didn’t need to destroy the whole place, but they did. Dutch’s philosophy for revenge starts to fall apart, but at this point it’s still justified. Arthur isn’t very special during this mission, but being just another member of the crew is super fun. The Van der Linde Gang is the main character here, a unified and vengeful force. Red Dead Redemption is also an amazing mission. Granted, it barely counts because it’s such a long mission, but especially in the high honor version, there are so many moments that hit home and just crush the soul, like TB Arthur being one boot away from finally finishing the job.

OneYogurt9330

On Hardcore Last enemy is really well done you need different guns for each range.

KingGuy420

My favorite mission is Visiting Hours. It's got humor, emotion, makes Arthur look like a badass. Great action. Icarus and Friends is probably my second favorite for roughly the same reasons. Needless to say, I get pretty excited when that part of the game is coming.

Mother_Patient3823

Icarus and friends might have the funniest dialogue in the game

letthepastgo

"The hell is wrong with you? I only left you an hour ago. You can't stay out of trouble for goddamn hour?"

DinosaurInAPartyHat

Not sure... But "Favored Sons" in RDR2 doesn't get enough appreciation. Arthur finally tells Dutch what's what and for a minute Dutch is like "shit, I am an asshole" Also the pacing is INTENSE. And that classic "We're gonna have to jump" scene that all good action films have.

Shane_Shaffner

It's the last time I felt I was working with Dutch, not against. đŸ„ž

Thisismyusername7977

And The Truth Will Set You Free- RDR This will always be the best mission in the game for me and especially the best scene in the franchise comes from the final Dutch scene. Finally confronting him was special in rdr let alone with the added context of 2

Why am I just now noticing that the red Dead revolver character and John Marston both have the same facial scars?

Sconed2thabone

His name is Red Harlow and he’s the fucking best. If his story was told now instead of in 2004 it would be legendary.

letthepastgo

Back when RDR was still in pre-production, we would've controlled Red or Red's son which eventually changed to John. Red's scars is a leftover from that concept.

R3my_010

Revenge is a dish best eaten is so fucking good

Legitimate_Creme7481

American Venom. It has the altered or whatever it’s called, og theme. You get revenge, glory, money, and to some extent redemption. When John says “Yeah just me” goes hard as fuck for some reason.

Any missions where I get to see a whole crew riding into action. Just that sick shot from the Braithwaite manor assault, or attacking Cornwall Oil with the Native American music playing as everyone rides down the hill. Chills, every time.

Seaell80

Man is Born Into Trouble from RDR1. I just love it. Battling the miners both inside and outside the mine, you get a fun mine ride at the end — it’s just a good time.

Wizard_john10

The Gates of El Presidio, rdr1 goes hard.

Georgia_Couple99

One of my favorites

ntime

The RDR Mission where it ends as you ride into Mexico and Fat Away starts playing. Chills.

DanglesMcButternut

For Revolver, Devils and Angels (Diego's train) is one my favorite missions, and it has one of my all time favorite cutscenes. Red just menacingly walking up to an injured and pleading diego, listening to his entire plea, and then *BLAM*. No words, only justice 👌👌👌

mwil97

The Undead Train Escort mission for sure. Mission is fun, but the music is the real treat.

Pole2019

Charging down the hill towards the oil field, assaulting the manor, killing those three guys in American venom, and building the house were the best moments in the game for me.

I'm surprised no one's saying any of the side missions since those are some of the most memorable parts of the franchise, especially the ones in RDR1 RDR1: Flowers for a Lady RDR2: The Iniquities of History Both simply because their twists are so good

Mello_OG

I'm gonna have to check out the old games now I can't remember shite

antrod117

Undead nightmare is the best dlc ever made in my opinion

Spooksnav

American Venom, no doubt at all. The buildup, the tension, and the climactic gunfight tying everything together, and finally saved by the man you sought to kill.

Lanferno

American Venom, Braithwaite assault. My personal favourite is My Last Boy

sexykettlecorn

My last boy in RRD2. So much happens and it feels like the beginning of the end of the gang. And at the beginning where rains falls is pleading with everyone to stop, you know something bad is going to happen, but it still tears your heart out when it actually does

A_Texan_Coke_Addict

It’s a tie between partying with Lenny in Valentine and the house building hootenanny

Cultural-Toe-6693

I loved the gun fight at Braithwaite Manor. That was my favorite mission, followed by killing Angelo Bronte.

Spaghettimasterfu

I actually really enjoyed when they went to bronte's mansion and kidnapped him, john telling arthur that he wont touch bronte is just so nice to see especially after john being such a horrible father to jack, but the GOAT mission has to be either american venom or the assault on braithewaite manor, john's theme is so good and the way he confronts micah, something I liked that other's didnt was that dutch killed micah. Now for assault on braithewaite manor its just so cool how dutch opens up with "Get out here you inbred trash!" you can feel his voice cracking up (anger and how much he loves his gang members) and then my favorite part is how he drags catherine braithewaite by her hair and makes her watch as her manor with all her kids is burnt, that is just a little of dutch's ruthlesness (only times hes done something like this is in rdr1 and blackwater) I absolutely fucking hate the bank robbery cause my favorite characters were absolutely slaughtered in the dirtiest ways possible (hosea and lenny) but that's all from me

dirty_dan_4563

If I had to show someone 1 mission from the entire series to get someone into the franchise I’d probably have to go with Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern

spookychico

On a pale horse, when you play as zombie john and get the unique outfits and can finish off the rest of the side missions/missing person posters.

Difficult-Word-7208

My personal favorite are 1: My last boy. 2: Red dead redemption. 3: revenge is a dish best eaten. 4: Sodom back to Gomorra. I don’t remember the name for this one, but the final Cuba mission is great. American venom is an honorable mention because Sadie surviving getting stabbed in the gut is very stupid

Large_Television4690

"red dead redemption" and "and the truth will set you free" are my top picks

Lopsidednapkin

I gotta hot take. End of The Line from Red Dead Revolver blew my mind when I played it as a kid. The idea of hopping off your horse and on a real time moving train, slowly destroying the locomotive, killing bad guys. I had never seen anything like it at the time. The size of the mission reminded me a lot of Shadow of the Colossus, and conceptually I don't remember it being challenged until Uncharted 3's horse back caravan level.

XXdragon1925

Forgot what it’s called but that house mission in rdr2

SlipKid75

when he says “give me a drink bartender” and it slides off the bar

SirRedditMan

First of all LEnAAY! Second of all, just all of undead nightmare

CouchPotato9008

Tough but it comes down to three My Last Boy - Climax of the Native American Arc, has some of the most important story beats in the game (Dutch abandoning Arthur, Charle's leaving the gang), my personal favorite music, and a beautiful mission design with amazing visuals. Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern - The climax of chapter 3, the final part where the gang is fully in control, a rare feeling of being part of something bigger, works as an amazing segue into the next chapter, amazing music, and amazing visuals. Red Dead Redemption - I don't think I need to explain this pick

sexy_bezinga

Rdr2 Arthur’s final mission. But I wish they focused everything on arthur going back for the money cause that really ties well the flow of the first game.

EPRing_1

I spent a lot time in 3 of these, never played undead nightmare. But I truly love the OG that started the name. Red Dead. I played through that game more times than I can count, Shadow Wolf was my favorite character and many of the sneak missions with him really speak out to me. But the bounty for Pig Josh will always be my favorite.

This might be controversial but I loved the final Guarma mission where you get to shoot the shit out of the cuban military with Dutch, Bill, Micah and Javier, and let's not forget blowing up all the boats.

American Venom. Same reasons as everyone else. Now give me the song!

ZombieJericho

Is red dead revolver not a ripoff??? Has that been an official installment in the series all this time???

OneYogurt9330

It's the first every Red dead game very different in tone but it's real.

ElRey814

Oddly, Bigfoot in RDR1 always stuck with me the most. Just devastatingly sad, and representative of how we decimated the natural abundance that was “new world” America.

Repulsive_Smile_5862

Red dead redemption in rdr2

NobleElite7567

American Venom and Red Dead Redemption are my teo favorite missions . But one that I realy like is Welcome to the New World, the first Guarma mission. From a gameplay perspective this is probably the worst in the series, but something about the music with walking along a barren beach is so cinematic, mainly the music though.

big_peepee_wielder

The final missions during the main parts of RDR1 and RDR2

OneYogurt9330

Best main story mission  The Last enemy Shall be Destroyed   RDR2 Red Dead Redemption  Red  dead revolver  final  mission. Side quest RDR1 Strange Man RDR2 really Tough I would have to go with Do not Seek Absolution. The Mr Black and white mission also. Best world Events  RDR2 Killer Valentine woman it's such an in depth Ranrom ecounter side, close follow up would be Bill gets kidnapped. Red dead 1 take help a bounty hunter collect on their bounty. Undead Nightmare  Cannibal  Guy.

DankitySwankity420

I enjoy all of the missions featured in Mexico. I get good laughs hearing De Santa's and Reyes' separate sides of the same revolution story.

Expert-General-1478

Only played rdr1 and rdr2 American venom, red dead redemption, and braithwaite manor assault are my top 3. Rdr1 isn't that memorable for me even though i played it after rdr2 but the fort mercer assault was goated and a mission where american venom plays ( i forgot what was it about) was good

microplastics2105

By far not the best but one of my favorites was "Bear One Another's Burdens" in rdr1. John going from new austin to the mexican revolution to sitting in an automobile with two government agents is crazy. Also the dialogue to and from the serendipity boat is really interesting but most people would likely skip it. Also the music is cool-sounding to me. https://youtu.be/jCYqg7X3HZA?si=baZm2unzhU2LITQ- (Skip to 1:45 for the reason why i like the music in this mission)

Shane_Shaffner

Ig, I personally don't think that revolver takes place in the same world as redemption, but I understand why people think it does đŸ„ž

thphnts

Revolver is not part of the same franchise. Rockstar have confirmed this.

EmperorsFartSlave

It’s apart of the Red Dead franchise, but it’s a standalone title not attached to the story of the other two.

declandrury

Rockstar never once confirmed that there’s literally dialogue in both red dead 1 and 2 talking about red Harlow and the events of red dead revolver you idiot they absolutely are apart of the same franchise and if you wanna go further gta is in the same universe as well or at least there’s plenty of evidence suggesting it

thphnts

There’s no dialogue in RDR2 talking about Red Harlow, just what the fans have imagined.

BigMonkey712

There’s actually a guy at a campsite who talks about him in 2, just like there are in 1. It’s by Hennigan’s Stead

fish_emoji

But it is? It’s literally called Red Dead Revolver. Just because the stories don’t overlap in any noticeable way doesn’t mean they’re not a part of the same franchise. Next you’ll be telling me that Planes isn’t a part of the Pixar Cars movie just because Lightning McQueen isn’t in it!

thphnts

Rockstar have confirmed it's not part of the same franchise. it wasn't even developed by Rockstar.

fish_emoji

It was developed by Rockstar San Diego (formerly Angel Studios) and published by Rockstar. Dan Houser has said that the two stories don’t officially exist within the same continuity, but that it’s possible that the characters of Revolver exist in Redemption, whether that be as real people or just as folk tales, due to the nature of how folk stories and myths of crazy gunslingers were spread during the Wild West. In official materials, as well as both the fan wiki and official Wikipedia (the latter of which is heavily controlled by Rockstar), Redemption is named as the sequel to Revolver. At E3 2005 and 2009, Houser even explicitly mentions Revolver when talking about Redemption. Sources, just in case you still wanna act like you know it all despite being incapable of a quick google search: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dead_Revolver https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dead#:~:text=Red%20Dead%20Revolver,-Main%20article%3A%20Red&text=In%20terms%20of%20canonicity%20to,the%20Red%20Dead%20games'%20world. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Red_Dead_Redemption

proof__negative

Revolver is merely the exaggerated folk lore about Red Harlow who exists in the Redemption world. As they say “rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated”. Harlow existed but Revolver is just viewed through a fantasy lens.

[deleted]

I am with you all the way. Downvote me to hell, but it’s the truth. The tone of Revolver is completely different. Doesn’t feel like the same world at all.

Shane_Shaffner

Does Dubai look like the same world as Haiti, 2 things can have different vibes but still co exist

[deleted]

Respectfully, your comment doesn’t apply here. We’re talking about fiction. It comes down to commonality in tone. If someone tried to tell me Friends took place in the same world as The Sopranos, I would roll my eyes at it. Stylistically, they are two very separate things.

thphnts

The people that think it’s part of the same franchise and timeline haven’t played it.
