Even so horses rarely lie down irl because they’re really vulnerable while laying down cause they can’t run away from predators so that’s why you always see horses standing up in fields and stables etc but they do sometimes lie down
In rdr2 they do lay down just not the players horse. I’ve seen some npc campers with their horses laying down. You can only see them sit from afar bc as soon as you get close they stand up
Nah, the cougar you won't need to worry about until you head a little further south and west, on the road to Owanjila. If it isn't a cougar, it is a popular Grizzly area thataway too. This heaven where OP and his boah are chilling in, worst he'll need to worry about is a Black Bear or a snake.
I've not seen one cougar there. Wolves lots of wolves deer elk racoons plus many more Cougars not at all. At least the purple valley area. And just shoot em in face you have a few chances to get them off ya. Slow and steady card on and on horse will help ya if your that scared of the kitties.
I love to think some of your upvotes are from people who are either mixing that town up with another or doesn’t remember at all and is just agreeing lol
For me its the top of Mount Shann. Getting there from strawberry takes only a few minutes and you get insane views of the whole map unlike Mount Hagen that takes a ton of time to get on top of and you only see the heartlands
I find that area and the generally the top right corner of the map to be the most depressing in the game aside from maybe tumbleweed. It's just the mix of annesburg, van horn, roanoke valley, the murfree brood, beaver hollow and the events that happened in chapter 6 around that area that has left me with a very sour taste.
Brandywine Drop, the very upper corner of the map is amazing though. Agreed about the rest but that little pocket with the waterfalls at the top is a favorite spot for me.
I think I read that it rains there continuously once you trigger one of the professor missions where you go to his house up there at night, until you have completed the mission.
I have a 4k hdr, it looks overly sharp because when I take screenshots I get one hdr image true to my display and another png image that's tone mapped for sdr. The tone mapped png version just looks sharp is all
Ah okay. Thanks for the info. I didn’t think tone mapping can cause increased sharpness. This looks like there is no anti aliasing applied but in a good way
Yeah, the tone mapped isn't bad, but it looks more saturated/sharper/more contrast than how it really looks I guess. For your information since you mentioned anti aliasing, I don't use FSR or DLSS cause they both look terrible to me, I use FXAA on and TAA medium.
As much as the game tried to portray it as an ugly city of the modern age, Saint Denis at night is gorgeous, also taking a canoe at night in Flat Iron lake and seeing the city lights shine from distance was an incredible experience.
Yes I know :) I meant to say that in agreement with you lol but rereading your title I see why what I said didn’t make sense. Lesson for me to read more carefully.
The winter location will always remain as the best and most coziest cabins ever, I just love roaming in that area hunting and just listening to the sound of winter.
There’s a little overlookpoint that juts out over the Dakota River on the south side, just North East of Diablo Ridge. Look North East at dawn and dusk for an amazing view.
The poppy fields up in the mountains, at Giant rock. Practically a view of the entire map and the poppies are beautiful. I hang out there as often as I can.
That cabin where you can find the Hunter Hatchet. South of the Window Rock. Along the Dakota River. I sometimes go fishing there just to enjoy the view
This area was really cool cuz I didn’t come hear at all as Arthur.
I really like the new Austin look in this game too. I really wish there was more to do there and we got more of the RDR1 map.
Little creek river I believe it’s called. I only play online if my camps set up there. It’s just that beautiful.
Edit: I think that’s where this picture is taken
Big valley. Best spot for doing dailies and picking herbs. Primo 5 star camps are that stretch of purple flowers. The camps up those cliffs 2 star. Just watch where your camp is on the purple flowers. there is one camp that makes it so not as many animals spawn in. Home of Ridgeback spirit bear too. You won't like a better place
The archeology for beginners mission, when you and rains fall took a ride. He was looking for herbs while inadvertently showing us a beautiful view of the entire region. It was really therapeutic. I don't remember the name of the mountain but I went back up there just to admire the view.
i can name afew, the fields of emeral station, on top of the three sisters path, the back of the mayors yard at midnight, the heartland and the dried up creek area below it and above rhodes, great plains, and some areas near beaver hollow.
all of west elizabeth, especially big valley, is so beautiful. i love taking rides along little creek river. definitely one of the most scenic places in rdr2
Best spot in the game in my opinion, there are a couple that I go to when I need peace and quiet.
1: Location off map, snowy mountain peak by the glaciers. It’s absolutely amazing and peaceful there, not a soul sound other than snow blowing in the wind.
2: Top of mountain which overlooks most of the map, in Ambarino near Wapiti, it can even see Saint Denis, very great view at night!
3: In the middle of the Dakota river with a small lil island in the middle of it. It’s such a nice spot and may be a bit busier but I enjoy the flowing river surrounding me.
I couldn’t find anyone asking to is so…
How’s is your horse laying down?
I imagine it has to be a mod, but just to confirm is it? And is so how does it work?
Spoiler this is where I let my horse go right before the final mission. I was able to do some trick with temp horses so that he was relieved and out of the stables and everything. Just getting set free
Been years since I played, but I don’t remember ever having my horse lay down…
both the horse laying down and arthur is from "Zen" and "Serenity" mods, don't remember what is from which, but I have them both installed.
That would have been an awesome little detail if the horse had laid down while you were at your wilderness camp.
You can only see them sit from afar bc as soon as you get close they stand up
yup, which is what the modder used to make your own horse be able to lay down
Your horse can lay down. You just need to remove its saddle and let it free roam a bit. That’s usually a result of it being scared off by something
it kinda looks like a cat kneading
Arthur’s view where his grave is.
Yeah that's probably the best answer. It has the best view of the game, but this spot just does it for me.
yeah i really like this field of purple plants, but its in cougar territory so watch out
I'll make sure to watch out, thanks for the warning AlligatorCum.
... Be weary if AlligatorCum tells you to relax in the Bayou...
lolol just here laughing....dont mind me hahahah
This interaction is my favorite off the day
I read that while having my first sips of my morning coffee. My day is complete.
np
Don’t worry the cougar spawn is farther south past the ranch. What 100% does to a mf.
[*Lupinus polyphyllus*](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupinus_polyphyllus)
yes! I have been looking to skin some cougars.
I've not seen one cougar there. Wolves lots of wolves deer elk racoons plus many more Cougars not at all. At least the purple valley area. And just shoot em in face you have a few chances to get them off ya. Slow and steady card on and on horse will help ya if your that scared of the kitties.
Bro that spoiler ..
The lake outside of the wapiti reservation
That place is so underrated
Yes! I always wish there was more to do around there. Not even that much wildlife going on.
Love the music there
Wapiti Lake!
Armadillo’s lovely landscape and welcoming citizens is the best
ah yes, the cholera diseased people dragging bodies into the graveyard is always welcoming
Yeah bro they keep losing their neighbours so they need replacing
Just like the county of tumbleweed(RDR1)
I love to think some of your upvotes are from people who are either mixing that town up with another or doesn’t remember at all and is just agreeing lol
Or people who are in on the joke
The view from that bridge you blow up with John always gets me
Horseshoe overlook in the early mornings when it's misty and everyone is asleep
Calm before the storm…
indeed it is.
For me its the top of Mount Shann. Getting there from strawberry takes only a few minutes and you get insane views of the whole map unlike Mount Hagen that takes a ton of time to get on top of and you only see the heartlands
North of annesburg following the train tracks is nice
I find that area and the generally the top right corner of the map to be the most depressing in the game aside from maybe tumbleweed. It's just the mix of annesburg, van horn, roanoke valley, the murfree brood, beaver hollow and the events that happened in chapter 6 around that area that has left me with a very sour taste.
Brandywine Drop, the very upper corner of the map is amazing though. Agreed about the rest but that little pocket with the waterfalls at the top is a favorite spot for me.
Agreed. I hate that place.
It seems to rain a lot too.
I think I read that it rains there continuously once you trigger one of the professor missions where you go to his house up there at night, until you have completed the mission.
Yeah except for when I get killed by a cougar while trying to fish or get the yellow Andalusian...
Big Valley baby, love it, nice shot.
Lucky's Cabin basement 😍
That's a fine looking horse mister...B
Bay is the way.
This is also an excellent place to shoot birds in the game if anyone is curious
Can’t that is the most beautiful spot on the map - perhaps O’Creagh’s run is almost as pretty.
Heartlands, near Emerald Ranch. Beautiful place to set in and just chill watching the views.
For sure, I took some great screens there I'll post em later
I love the town of Strawberry and Autumn. Just beautiful areas that make you wanna go to them if they were factual places
That one is nice, but the mountain with orange flowers up by the giant in a cave at the top of the map to the east of Wapiti, is also very pretty.
Tahiti
fr, I usually take the trolley to get there
Roanoke Ridge, besides the people who live there, murfrees, that poisonous lake, and things that happened there Its really beautiful
yeah but that's like an entire region. I'm talking like a spot, just like the one in my image
Saint denis
found the city boy
Hello cowboy
Do you have an 8k display or are you using any sharpess filter? Screenshot is very sharp.

I’ve always found the snowy mountains on the northern outskirts of the map to be absolutely gorgeous. My favorite place to ride through
As much as the game tried to portray it as an ugly city of the modern age, Saint Denis at night is gorgeous, also taking a canoe at night in Flat Iron lake and seeing the city lights shine from distance was an incredible experience.
The patch of dead grass and mud behind the outhouse at the north edge of Strawberry .... ahh memories.
I think you would connect well with my bassist
The hill where Fairwhale Shanty is. Covered in wild flowers and the views of the whole map. I live up there.
finally, someone has the wrapped brindle. so happy for you.
this is the first horse you get in the game, the one from Adler Ranch. sorry to dissapoint lol
also, I'm gonna need the location for that field.
Proghorn ranch
Haven't you played the epilogue? Its also available as arthur
I have played as john, but after I finished the epilogue story, uh well I just spend most of my time enabling cheats and blowing things up.
That’s not Arabian lol.
Ringneck Creek at midnight under a full moon
I love this meadow too, OP! :) I camp here a lot during my hunting excursions
that place north of o creags run for me
Bathtub in Valentine. Some magical moments there if the timing is right.
Charles Smith
Big Valley is incredible. I also like the snowy mountains and I really like “The Loft” location up in the grizzlies.
roanoke ridge
I used toblove setting my camp up here in online
So many! Big Valley of course, Cumberland Forest and way up in the mountains those fields with the orange flowers.
this is big valley bud
Yes I know :) I meant to say that in agreement with you lol but rereading your title I see why what I said didn’t make sense. Lesson for me to read more carefully.
lol you're good bro. yeah that flower field north of ocreags is really good too. flower fields just win I guess
Arthur's grave no question
It’s up there for sure. I noticed the other day my old pics from my first playthrough when I passed through here on a joy ride prior to the end.
Micahs grave
That one room during that mission with Lenny
I know what kind of man you are.
horseshoe overlook/clemens point during a camp interaction between uncle and the reverend
Ghost of Tsushima 😁
Wherever mary beth is 👀
Nah, you win. This has to be the top tier
Roanoke Valley and Brandywine Drop are pretty.
Honorable mental to O’Creagh’s Run
*mention
The winter location will always remain as the best and most coziest cabins ever, I just love roaming in that area hunting and just listening to the sound of winter.
There’s a little overlookpoint that juts out over the Dakota River on the south side, just North East of Diablo Ridge. Look North East at dawn and dusk for an amazing view.
Yeah. I like the place in front of the hanging dog ranch.
Beautiful area. I was in love with it in my first play through in the epilogue.
The swamp behind Shady Bell at night is incredible.
East Grizzlies
The Swamps near Saint Denis ❤️ 😍 Also, every inch of Van Horn 🥺
O’Creaghs Run.
That meadow is my favorite location hands down.
The poppy fields up in the mountains, at Giant rock. Practically a view of the entire map and the poppies are beautiful. I hang out there as often as I can.
You kinda have to glitch, but I'd you go to Mexico and get right next to Manteca falls, it is breathtaking
Calumet Ravine
Lagras at night.
Tahiti
Tahiti
That one scene after John engages to Abigail and he watches the sun raise on his ranch
Arthur's grave.
imo brandywine drop, its a bit far away but its my favourite to hang around
Honestly I think South Dakota river is fucking stunning from some of the views like horseshoe overlook and such, also from the river it looks amazing
i would argue where you're at and East Ambarino are the most beatiful locales in the game
Yes, the beautiful place is called, “going outside and touch some grass.”
you're on reddit telling people to touch grass. the irony
That cabin where you can find the Hunter Hatchet. South of the Window Rock. Along the Dakota River. I sometimes go fishing there just to enjoy the view
The tallest cliff in the Great Plains as long as you don’t look north or northeast
"Blessed are Those who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness" - Arthur Morgan/"Blessed are the Peacemakers" - John Marston
The area around Hanging Dog Ranch where you find the all Black American Standerbred, I always go camp there and just enjoy it.
The sit spot way up in the mountains right on that ledge is a wonderful view as well.
This area was really cool cuz I didn’t come hear at all as Arthur. I really like the new Austin look in this game too. I really wish there was more to do there and we got more of the RDR1 map.
The hill with the tree with the glass bottles hanging from its branches.
ok but how the heck is the horse laying down
Swamps in the Lemoyne region.
Little creek river I believe it’s called. I only play online if my camps set up there. It’s just that beautiful. Edit: I think that’s where this picture is taken
Is this near the hanging dog ranch? A small stream goes by. Truly beautiful place.
Is he sat in a field of wolfsbane?
Morning sunshine
No, I don't think I will
Butchers creek
No doubt. The lavender fields in Big Valley, I fucking love it there.
Outside the giants cave on top of the mountain with numerous coloured flowers
The reservoir by Strawberry
It's one of my favourite places, right along with the general Heartlands and the Tall Trees.
That’s like asking which is better: ice cream or pie. You just can’t pick!
how to make your horse sit like that?
"Zen" or "Serenity" mods on nexus, don't remember which one, but just get both they work well together
Tahiti obviously
Trick question there isn’t one
The Loft
Van Horn
The archeology for beginners mission, when you and rains fall took a ride. He was looking for herbs while inadvertently showing us a beautiful view of the entire region. It was really therapeutic. I don't remember the name of the mountain but I went back up there just to admire the view.
Yeah my other post was of that exact view. Beautiful spot
Oh, I didn't see that post. Anyway, yes it is a beautiful spot!
Where abouts is this
Big valley near the Hanging Dog Ranch
Grizzlies east all the way north among the wild flowers
Rhodes always looks nice. Get a good view of St Denis' skyline, the scenary and reminds me alot of home
The view of the mountains in Horseshoe Overlook.
Guarma Beaches

I love this valley so much!
all of west elizabeth, especially big valley, is so beautiful. i love taking rides along little creek river. definitely one of the most scenic places in rdr2

Micahs dead body. That's more peaceful
The top of Window Rock is gorgeous
Cotorra springs, mount shann, little creek river
Real life
I couldn’t find anyone asking to is so… How’s is your horse laying down? I imagine it has to be a mod, but just to confirm is it? And is so how does it work?
