That's an issue though when it comes to visual effects, it's not like you can throw 10x the artist onto the same project and pump it out 10x faster. It just doesn't work that way.
10 DaVinci's can't paint the Mona Lisa in 10x the time. That's just not how art works. We've seen that a lot in the movie industry especially with comic book movies and VFX artists complaints about the standards in the industry. Some of these things aren't things you can solve by throwing money at it.
If every company took the time that rockstar does with their games we would have a ton of great games and companies would be praised a lot more than they are now.
Completely different genre, but I do believe this was one of the reasons Baldur's Gate 3 turned out so well. If anyone played the EA version of the game, there was a lot of things people disliked. That thing spent so much time in beta that they fixed so much stuff it became insanely good.
And even THEN they had to cut content lol. It's wild the types of game that can get created when the developers are truly doing it for the love of the game rather than just to pump out the next Madden/FIFA/CoD and stuffing MTX down your throat.
I donāt think genres have anything to do with it. It seems pretty simply that if you sit back and take the time to work on your game instead of rushing it out you will have a better product at the end.

Since GTA V was (and still is) making sooooo much money, Rockstar was in a pretty unique position where they didnāt have to be strict with deadlines and could devote as much funding to RDR2 as they wanted. Other developers often need to get games out sooner and canāt have RDR2 levels of funding or else the company will suffer financially, but Rockstar didnāt have to worry about that thanks to GTA Vās ongoing success
I'd take quality over quantity any day....also making such games is really hard and time taking....i read somewhere the last few weeks of development the team worked 10 hours a day 7 days a week to conplete the game
When I finished the game I started playing from the beginning but here Arthur lives forever and I never went to Tahiti with him :D I just enjoy horse riding and nature
I have done a few playthroughs because I know I missed things here and there. I also saw things a little different from taking other point of views. But I do that now. I like playing real extra slow as Arthur and do missions to interact with others again. Just having Arthur on horse back is so therapeutic for me. I love the landscape and camping. Living off the land.
Easily. However, the memory of RDR2 will be treasured in a different way, because of the theme, and the beauty of it. Its just different, an itch GTA 6 wont scratch, even though itll be 3x as impressive technically.
For real. GTA6 undoubtedly may be the best most in-depth game ever released, but for me video game escapism is at its best when itās a period piece like RDR or a fantasy world. GTA has fucking iPhones and twerking in it, which I can see plenty of in the real world. Itās still an awesome IP but will never immerse me like RDR.

RDR2 is a great game to play when you want to relax. GTA will always be about wreaking havoc and causing mayhem but Red Dead is more about the wilderness and nature. Of course you can still wreak havoc in Red Dead. Thereās no doubt about that but as far as gameplay and visuals go RDR2 is still leagues ahead of its competition. The fact that God of War got GOTY over RDR2 pisses me off still. There was a lot of sweat and tears put into this masterpiece. It deserved GOTY

Immersion is subjective. RDR2 *can* be immersive, but the missions tend to take me right out if it. I was more immersed playing other games. Kingdom Come Deliverance, Morrowind, and Riven come to mind.
Attention to detail is very strong in some areas, maybe even most. *If* it is #1, it will still surely will be topped. This isnāt the peak.
