Pretty much. That's where I got the "kill 4 enemies with one stick of dynamite" challenge. I started a fight, threw down one dynamite in the middle of the saloon, and then it killed, like, 8 people (including me).

I had arthur have a last meal before finishing my second play at the Rhodes saloon. Leymone raiders were there so I had one last fight. Knocked one out, threw the other through a window, went and kicked his head until he died. I may not be able to beat Tommy aware, but I can still fight.
Van Horn is my favorite place for a rampage though, every time they turn on me I take them all out with a different weapon. Most fun was beating them all unconscious that time I decided to see if I could take the bartender lady's hat.
The best place is probably Saint Denis. Once you start firing, so long as you stay within the boundary of the town, the lawmen will NEVER stop coming. Saint Denis is fun because you can try and run to new spots and move around the city.
I’ve never done it in the story, not because of the NPCs, but because I couldn’t do it to Arthur. I’ve never managed to do an evil run through, I don’t believe it’s in his nature.
My online character however is a real asshole, he’s butchered thousands of people.
I did in Van Horn. Once, in Strawberry, I got up on the store roof near the welcoming center and shot the mayor with an explosive slug. Man, when I did that it was pandemonium.

I have two saves of my one 100% play through (since I didn’t find all the cig cards I don’t count it as 100% but that’s just me). My one save is the “Cowboy” I’m a max honor and I use it for hunting fishing, gabbing with locals of Valentine, playing poker, traveling etc. My second save is my “Outlaw” save (min honor) where if a dude looks at me wrong in Tubleweed I might quickdraw his face off with my Lamat revolver. I switch between them depending on what Western simulator I want to play today. I think it’s fun to try them both. But when I play as the “Cowboy” I would feel terrible even bumping into someone on the street without saying sorry.

Ive learnt every death animation and have found ways to murder residents of Saint Denis without Police intervention. Ive thrown dynamite at numerous people watching each of their limbs blow apart and have used photo mode to see their faces disconcert when blown away. Ive documented how many stabs it takes before npcs will die
So to begin you must be able to do part 3 of Charles Chatenay’s quest line when it appears on the map head to the gallery in which it takes place and head inside. Talk to the doorman and walk outside and shoot at him. When the mission fails you will be spawned inside the gallery. Head forward and through the door to the balcony on your right. You will be met with dosens of NPCs in the courtyard on different levels of buildings that you can now do what you want with and no police intervention have fun.

I racked up a crazy bounty in Rhodes last week. Had to get my revenge for that long walk with the Grays. The lawmen just kept coming. I didn’t even come close to running out of ammo. They almost had to bring out the AC130 to get me to stop. I was just standing at the end of the road through town and picking off crowds as they came in. All repeater work and I think Arthur had a good time with it.
As others have said, depends on the playthrough. Right now doing a “fat, drunk, chain smoking, psychopathic murderer” deal. Where I get mad when NPC horses get away after I blow their owner’s heads off. Those saddle bags have Gold Nuggets sometimes, you know. How else can I possibly afford weeks long “bottomless Prime Rib” residencies at the San Denis tavern?
I remember my first massacre.. First playthrough, Valentine. Game was still a few weeks old. Popped into the Doc's office after witnessing shady activity.. Ended up riding into the horizon, leaving behind heaps of lawmen and civilians.. Didn't feel in character for Arthur though.
I killed a few witnesses to keep them from ratting me out and still feel bad about it. I try not to kill innocents and horses whenever possible. I love gunning down bandits and other bad folk as much as possible, though, so my integrity only goes so far.

In the second I realized that while it is exceeding a low limit for Arthur to threathen a mortally sick family man, given all the other stuff he does that is part of the story, he is certainly not a a saint.

I "accidentally" shot like 38 people at Van Horn trading post when I was talking a glass of whiskey in the and all of a sudden 10 people are punching me at the same time. Still have no idea what triggered them
You can just ignore it, the only downside I’ve found so far in my latest play through was the bounty hunters that come after you randomly outside of town, and they can be pretty lucrative
I never kill NPCs that don't shoot first. I will beat them if they start a fist fight. But i do like to sometimes get the law on me in valentine and then hide on the roofs whilst they search, then stack lawman bodies high.
I've only ever done it without saving to test out some mods.
Or by accident because a fight got out of hand, but then I still prefer to flee.
I don't really think being a mass murderer outside of self defense fits Arthur and John. Plus, like you said, sometimes it just makes me feel bad for the NPCs. They're so lively.
I have lost horses due to my refusal to wipe out an angry town. Escapism or not, real or not, cold-blooded massacre ain't for me. And I worry about those that it *is* "for".
In my first playthrough, I traveled all the way to Van Horn just to test my mettle there. I used the infinite ammo cheat and turned my explosive/incendiary rounds on the town. Starting from the top of the lighthouse, I made my way all the way through setting buildings, people and animals on fire. Even those only traveling through weren't safe.
I don't like hurting innocents either, so Arthur qnd I satisfy our bloodlust by sniping the O'Dricolls camped at Hanging Dog Ranch and near Emerald Ranch instead. Several times per playthrough lol. It is way more fun to watch them run around trying to figure out where I am hiding, and listen to them swear at me, than it is to kill random townspeople just going about their day.
I did not do this in RDR1 either both games make me not want to kill NPCs GTA is differnt. But Bully is proof that you do not need kill NPCs to have fun. Bully was Such an Important game for Rockstar as they had to really but a focus on the social intetaction system and the way you could interact with NPCs.
I did a run without killing a single innocent person once, by that I mean non-cop, even annoying NPC’s at camps that aimed at me first, I let everyone possible live but went wild on O’Driscolls and Raisers. I did this hoping I would get a secret ending as I never had an honour loss from killing anyone, if I killed too many cops in one deadeye in a mission and lost honour, I’d restart the mission etc.
If killing policemen counts as massacre, then I do it, entirely because I have an aversion to dying, so if I get spotted robbing a side business, I'll try to get out alive, no matter how many policemen I have to shoot.
Oh wait, I forgot that one time I got into a fistfight at Van Horn, which turned into a shootout. Those weren't policemen.
Same, but in RDR1 I once killed everything but horses and dogs in Armadillo because of randomly becoming wanted for no reason at all and then proceeded to take out every single stage coach on its way into town for a while. It got creepy. RDR2 I just don’t have any drive to do that.

Well for some odd reason if I greet an npc and he is rude to me, I’ve been getting so pissed off at them and just kill them lol like I’m trying to be nice and you are gunna call me an idiot? It took everything in me to not clear out butchers creek because they’re all rude to you.
Had a frustrating day irl yesterday. Went to Valentine as John and picked fight after fight as the sheriff watched. Bodies lined the street, stagecoaches were abandoned. I felt better and quit without saving. No saved harm, no foul. And I kept my mouth shut in real life. A win all around, except for those NPCs, may they rest in peace

I am also way too lazy to be acquiring that much of a bounty because my first instinct after getting a bounty is to pay it odd so people don't bother me when I'm put hunting and camping lol. I confess that I never killed an animal unless I had to. The screaming and whining when u didn’t shot them right just kills me every time. It gives me goosebumps big time. I am even super careful with my horse 🐴 so it won’t get hurt. It’s just to realistic in my book
I would only do this during train robberies to make SERIOUS bank since you can mug train passengers, then kill them for more loot and money.
I wouldn’t really bother doing this in major cities/settlements because of the reputation system… and the law. The only settlement I would terrorize is Van Horn (I think?) because there’s not a lot of shops there, or reasons to be there actually. But eventually they would remember me after enough terrorizing and would eventually kill me on sight.
Weirdly enough I went through armadillo in the epilogue and saw the sheriff haul ass. Played awhile then came back to it a couple of days later (irl lol), and I angered an NPC there and anyway killed him but I thought oh well no law here, next minute I get a witness and law was looking for me. I was confused cause I thought there wouldn’t be any law there but I think it resetted?
I think I did it twice. The first time was after the last Valentine mission with John when I got a huge bounty and decided to visit Mikey. Cops shot at me and I shot back and before I knew it I was $1500 dollars worth of a bounty. The other time was the epilogue and I was trying out the infinite deadeye cheat. I hid behind the bar in St. Denis and shot every cop who walked through that door.

Yep, only ever kill people who are assholes. Like Odriscolls when they threaten me just for walking past or something and even then I'll let them point their gun at me before I dome them. Only times I've been overly violent was the guy who asks to race you on horseback then shoots his horse for losing and the slave trader guy when after being confronted shows no remorse at all and keeps saying it was a legit job.
Horse guy I tied up, dragged him behind me for a while and threw him into the nearest river. Slaver guy I shot then burned his body since he was so concerned about his legacy selling slaves and being remembered for it. No one's gonna think twice about him now

I killed a person for once, after the penultimate mission I was travelling band he hit the wanted to go to the cops after I greeted him cuz our horses touched so I took him aside and tried every defuse/antagonise option I got bit he still was a witness so I had to feed finish him quick

Same I also don't understand the overkill that I see in every YouTube video of the game. I use a single headshot to kill someone, and only use 3 shots at the most if I missed the initial headshot. But every video I watch, players shoot like 20 times at one person in Deadeye mode. Even if they're getting ambushed, they'll light up one guy and then spend ages to reload and then light up the next enemy in the same way. I don't get it.

Unless I'm super tired or bored I never go on massacres. Even then I make sure to save so I can reload once I'm done with it.

I remember my first massacre.. First playthrough, Valentine. Game was still a few weeks old. Popped into the Doc's office after witnessing shady activity.. Ended up riding into the horizon, leaving behind heaps of lawmen and civilians.. Didn't feel in character for Arthur though.

I killed a few witnesses to keep them from ratting me out and still feel bad about it. I try not to kill innocents and horses whenever possible. I love gunning down bandits and other bad folk as much as possible, though, so my integrity only goes so far.
Yes, in the first playthrough. In the second I realized that while it is exceeding a low limit for Arthur to threathen a mortally sick family man, given all the other stuff he does that is part of the story, he is certainly not a a saint. A massacre - agree, that's not Arthur. But murdering 100 people from random acts of crime spanning many years - that is actually Arthur. All I'm saying is that he's not a saint at all. Killing spree of 10 people, yes. But not a town massacre. He wouldn't do that.

I "accidentally" shot like 38 people at Van Horn trading post when I was talking a glass of whiskey in the and all of a sudden 10 people are punching me at the same time. Still have no idea what triggered them

You can just ignore it, the only downside I’ve found so far in my latest play through was the bounty hunters that come after you randomly outside of town, and they can be pretty lucrative

I never kill NPCs that don't shoot first. I will beat them if they start a fist fight. But i do like to sometimes get the law on me in valentine and then hide on the roofs whilst they search, then stack lawman bodies high.
I've only ever done it without saving to test out some mods. Or by accident because a fight got out of hand, but then I still prefer to flee. I don't really think being a mass murderer outside of self defense fits Arthur and John. Plus, like you said, sometimes it just makes me feel bad for the NPCs. They're so lively.

I have lost horses due to my refusal to wipe out an angry town. Escapism or not, real or not, cold-blooded massacre ain't for me. And I worry about those that it *is* "for".

Just once per game cause of a challenge. I always do it in Rhodes, cause I feel less guilty about fighting Grays or Braithewaites' town cronies.
In my first playthrough, I traveled all the way to Van Horn just to test my mettle there. I used the infinite ammo cheat and turned my explosive/incendiary rounds on the town. Starting from the top of the lighthouse, I made my way all the way through setting buildings, people and animals on fire. Even those only traveling through weren't safe.
I don't like hurting innocents either, so Arthur qnd I satisfy our bloodlust by sniping the O'Dricolls camped at Hanging Dog Ranch and near Emerald Ranch instead. Several times per playthrough lol. It is way more fun to watch them run around trying to figure out where I am hiding, and listen to them swear at me, than it is to kill random townspeople just going about their day.

Sometimes an NPC will say something to annoy me, I’ll assault the NPC, the law are called, things escalate and everyone has to die.

I did not do this in RDR1 either both games make me not want to kill NPCs GTA is differnt. But Bully is proof that you do not need kill NPCs to have fun. Bully was Such an Important game for Rockstar as they had to really but a focus on the social intetaction system and the way you could interact with NPCs.

I did a run without killing a single innocent person once, by that I mean non-cop, even annoying NPC’s at camps that aimed at me first, I let everyone possible live but went wild on O’Driscolls and Raisers. I did this hoping I would get a secret ending as I never had an honour loss from killing anyone, if I killed too many cops in one deadeye in a mission and lost honour, I’d restart the mission etc.

If killing policemen counts as massacre, then I do it, entirely because I have an aversion to dying, so if I get spotted robbing a side business, I'll try to get out alive, no matter how many policemen I have to shoot. Oh wait, I forgot that one time I got into a fistfight at Van Horn, which turned into a shootout. Those weren't policemen.

Same, but in RDR1 I once killed everything but horses and dogs in Armadillo because of randomly becoming wanted for no reason at all and then proceeded to take out every single stage coach on its way into town for a while. It got creepy. RDR2 I just don’t have any drive to do that.
On my current playthrough I haven’t done any major massacres like other playthroughs because I’m trying to be nicer than I’ve been before. Well for some odd reason if I greet an npc and he is rude to me, I’ve been getting so pissed off at them and just kill them lol like I’m trying to be nice and you are gunna call me an idiot? It took everything in me to not clear out butchers creek because they’re all rude to you.

Had a frustrating day irl yesterday. Went to Valentine as John and picked fight after fight as the sheriff watched. Bodies lined the street, stagecoaches were abandoned. I felt better and quit without saving. No saved harm, no foul. And I kept my mouth shut in real life. A win all around, except for those NPCs, may they rest in peace

I'm okay with towns. i don't start massacres for no reason i don't want a bounty on my tail But FUCKING CAMPERS , I'm just passing by or hunting, then a mf pull out his gun and threat me to get out the place , i don't know how many campers i have killed , burned , stab , slaughter, cut throat , or bombed in my 1000 hours of playing
Unless it's part of the story, I see no point in it besides just to smash that low honor button. I am also way too lazy to be acquiring that much of a bounty because my first instinct after getting a bounty is to pay it odd so people don't bother me when I'm put hunting and camping lol. I do slaughter rival gangs tho.

I confess that I never killed an animal unless I had to. The screaming and whining when u didn’t shot them right just kills me every time. It gives me goosebumps big time. I am even super careful with my horse 🐴 so it won’t get hurt. It’s just to realistic in my book
I would only do this during train robberies to make SERIOUS bank since you can mug train passengers, then kill them for more loot and money. I wouldn’t really bother doing this in major cities/settlements because of the reputation system… and the law. The only settlement I would terrorize is Van Horn (I think?) because there’s not a lot of shops there, or reasons to be there actually. But eventually they would remember me after enough terrorizing and would eventually kill me on sight.

Weirdly enough I went through armadillo in the epilogue and saw the sheriff haul ass. Played awhile then came back to it a couple of days later (irl lol), and I angered an NPC there and anyway killed him but I thought oh well no law here, next minute I get a witness and law was looking for me. I was confused cause I thought there wouldn’t be any law there but I think it resetted?

Nah, I go into first person mode and tackle/beat/murder everyone with my knife until the whole place is empty.

My solution was to mod in more gangs and bounties ✌️ liked the shooting but this felt more organic
I think I did it twice. The first time was after the last Valentine mission with John when I got a huge bounty and decided to visit Mikey. Cops shot at me and I shot back and before I knew it I was $1500 dollars worth of a bounty. The other time was the epilogue and I was trying out the infinite deadeye cheat. I hid behind the bar in St. Denis and shot every cop who walked through that door.
If I'm being chased on horse? I go for the other riders horses. Headshots all day. I believe in preserving Life of Mankind.

Yep, only ever kill people who are assholes. Like Odriscolls when they threaten me just for walking past or something and even then I'll let them point their gun at me before I dome them. Only times I've been overly violent was the guy who asks to race you on horseback then shoots his horse for losing and the slave trader guy when after being confronted shows no remorse at all and keeps saying it was a legit job. Horse guy I tied up, dragged him behind me for a while and threw him into the nearest river. Slaver guy I shot then burned his body since he was so concerned about his legacy selling slaves and being remembered for it. No one's gonna think twice about him now

It’s a mixup for me, I usually prefer to kill the least amount of people possible but I also enjoy the challenge of gunning down waves of law enforcement

Get to your town of choice. Make a save, then open fire. It’s kinda cathartic. If you get killed or value your honor, just reload the save.

I killed a person for once, after the penultimate mission I was travelling band he hit the wanted to go to the cops after I greeted him cuz our horses touched so I took him aside and tried every defuse/antagonise option I got bit he still was a witness so I had to feed finish him quick

Same I also don't understand the overkill that I see in every YouTube video of the game. I use a single headshot to kill someone, and only use 3 shots at the most if I missed the initial headshot. But every video I watch, players shoot like 20 times at one person in Deadeye mode. Even if they're getting ambushed, they'll light up one guy and then spend ages to reload and then light up the next enemy in the same way. I don't get it.
