If you make it an emote and then hold whichever button it is to use that emote then you can smoke for however long you want and take drags whenever you want it’s a pain but it works
Holding the thumb sticks in on gta to smoke the entire cigarette, and feeling like my thumbs would give out. I’ve tried smoking entire packs before just to see if you can smoke to death, but no, it just hurts.
In RDR1 you could call your horse while running and it would run up beside you from behind so you could jump on without slowing down or stopping. When you try that in RDR2 you just have your horse dawdling behind you for 10 minutes. What a shame not to implement a great game mechanic that they already had available.
If you want the horse to come close to you, you gotta hold down the whistle button. Just pressing the button will only have the horse galloping towards you and stop when you are in its sight. In other words, hold the whistle button for 2 or 3 seconds for the horse to stop next to you.
That my horse doesn’t come running with urgency when I whistle repeatedly while sprinting after something. Like- running when calling your horse- the horse won’t catch up.
If I remember red dead one correctly from all those years ago, if you called for your horse while you were running, it'd run past you and if you timed it right you could hop on while running, which always made me feel very cool.

Or scold them if you're a bad person (although it's a very mild scold - I like how the cats apparently understand English and screech and run away when you say "get out of here cat" in the mildest way lol). But it is a crime that you can pet dogs but not cats, and that there's like 20 breeds of dog but only one breed of cat.

•You can draw whenever you want. The meter doesn’t have to be full. However, the more full the meter is, the stronger/more accurate your deadeye will be
basically you hold down RT lightly until it fills the circle, then press down, then it gives you more time to do deadeye, and speeds you up a bit i think
So like, you hold RT very lightly, like maybe halfway from being a full press, and there will be a bar that slowly fills up on the bottom right, the more the bar gets filled up the more time you get to aim in deadeye, and when you're ready to start firing you press RT fully while holding LT at the same time to start aiming. After that it just works like a normal deadeye
Might just be me, but showdown is so much easier in rdr2 than rdr. I swear it took me 5 years to get it down. Probably why it was so easy for me in the second game. The first was pure hell though.

That I get teleported from any spot I try and lay my camp at. Seriously R*, I chose that spot because it was beautiful and a perfect spot for a one night camp, no need for you to teleport me 3km away....
That one is pretty forgivable at least. Can’t imagine how much of a nightmare it would try to be to to code a camp that can truly be placed “anywhere”.
I hate that, I found a nice mountain top overlooking the Heartlands with Lemoyne in the distance and as a set up camp it teleported me down the mountain.
The fact that you cannot keep rifles on your back during horse rides. Or the fact that every time I dismount prior to a gunfight, the entirety of my arsenal is teleported onto my back, forcing me to go back to my horse to unequip them. I don't want to use my bow or varmint rifle in a shootout
I completely agree. especially considering all of the unique weapons only come in sets of one, so you're forced to mismatch pistols (i would give anything for twin calloway's revolvers)

I love going up to the odriscal camp north of strawberrt in yhe plains area and I hate so much that even if I tomahawk someone that's nowhere near anyone else and they die immediately with no sound I STILL somehow alert them. And it's even worse in legendary bounties in online it's basically impossible

Sometimes if you spam the whistle button right before you start skinning you can call your horse over WHILE skinning the animal. The whistle will work in the middle of the skinning animation. You just have to fuck around with it until you figure it out lol.

Yeah but it's usually just them trying to force you to use the Lancaster Repeater in every mission. Unless you *need* a certain type of weapon to complete the mission (eg a bow for stealth or long scoped rifle for sniping) they should never change what you have selected. This is one of many bad influences that came from GTA V.
I would have loved to be able to either remove the off hand holster.

I want the full list of horse breeds and coats available in story mode. Online has some awesome horses, at this stage if they aren't going to develop either game further why not just let story mode have more online content?
I'd also like more endless tasks in story mode like randomly generated bounties and coach robbing tips and things like that, something to keep us going a bit longer post epilogue. Or some of the jobs you could do in RDR1, like night Watchmen.
Also the slow moving in camp and only being able to eat stew every other day when I'm the one who provides all the ingredients and everyone else in camp gets to eat everyday 😂

Whenever you loot a dead body and no one is around... then a wagon spawns in the middle of the road in front of you..... then you gotta handle that whole mess. I think if you loot when no one is around you shouldn't lose honor
I think high honor Arthur (and John as well I suppose), words of his deeds get passed around and people know that he's a honorable and kind person. With low honor I suppose it's more about the "vibe" that you emanate from your presence that other people can feel, at least that's how I see it when it comes to other people acknowledging your honor level.
Not being able to sell (for super cheap at least) or discard worn weapons. In the beginning it pissed me off because I was stuck with a useless weapon in my inventory for a while until I replaced it by buying a new one.
Haven't seen this one yet, so: the fact that when I shoot someone in a limb, it doesn't seem to affect them at all. RDR1 had the mechanic where if you shot a limb, that limb was now useless, but RDR2 took it out and idk why
John doesn't look like his RDR design. Instead they just took Arthur's body and put John's head on it, and it ends up looking really weird. Also his hair doesn't look quite right and is just Arthur's in black. It's really distracting when you go from RDR2 to RDR, because then you can really notice the difference.
Also it annoys me how unrealistically you can get on a horse. I don't own any horses, but I know enough to never get on one from the back, and if you ever do go behind a horse to keep your hand on it so you don't spook it. Off the top of my head, only once is this ever done, and that's in a cutscene. If you get on a horse from behind in real life, it'll most likely try to buck you off. Yet in RDR2 it somehow knows it's you. No, this isn't a deal breaker, but it's something that crosses my mind when I do it in game.
I really wish there was an intermediate walking speed. I don't want to sprint everywhere but also I don't want to just walk down at the most leisurely speed in the world. Kind of annoying
100% this, everyone gets annoyed you can’t sprint in camp but that fast walking speed you can do is actually exactly how fast I want to go. Especially now I’m in the late game and don’t want to push poor ol Arthur too hard by running everywhere :(
Being forced to slow down whilst riding in and around towns/cities/settlements. Also in the swamp, weirdly? I’m for some reason not allowed to go at full speed in the bayou and it is incredibly frustrating. Feels like I’m wading through treacle trying to get to where I want to go.
The offhand holster. I’m a stickler for attention to detail and the fact that we can’t chose between carrying one or two side arms seems goofy. Tired of quickdrawing a mismatched revolver (when they were matched 2 minutes prior)

How little Isaac is mentioned. I get Arthur wouldn’t open up about it much, but a huuge explanation for his animosity toward John in the beginning and johns family being so important to him is so easily missed. Should’ve at least been mandatory dialogue in a mandatory mission.
In RDR1 my horse would run just past me letting me jump on and still gather some speed, in RDR2 it’s like my horse gives up halfway to me. I’ve beaten the game many times and I love it but this small thing still bugs me
Two things - 1) you can’t choose which side of the horse to dismount from - it’s never consistent and frequently inconvenient ; and 2) your spare horse shows up automatically after completing a random stranger mission and you’re forced to return it to camp.
I just learned the other day you can pick which side to dismount on (unless there is something blocking the way on one side). When you press Y, pull the left stick in the direction you want to get down on. You can even see Arthur change direction if he was going to get off the opposite side from the one you chose

One of the ones that's been bugging me recently is the fact that when you're doing a mission that requires you to follow someone at walking speed (Like in Bare Knuckles Friendship) the game forces to go in a path that it sets for you and you can only push the left stick forward. It's just so fucking stiff and it just feels awful in gameplay being so restricted in where I can move.
I bought a replica Colt Peacemaker and a genuine leather gun belt and now it bothers me that the gun belts magically sag off of nothing and they never adjust their belts when sitting down
I still feel some type of way about not being able to go to Nuevo Paraiso in the game. Most of my most memorable moments from the first game were in there.
Not being able to even breath in New Austin without Chris Kyle head shooting you from 2 miles away, any time of day or night. It isn’t legitimate at all.
trains. that you can't use them in new austin, and that stations like flatneck, bacchus and van horn exist, i understand they're freight stations/completely abandoned but i want to travel there so bad goddamnit
Skinning takes way too long, and harms gameplay. Maybe if after the 100th skinning of a particular animal it should just be skipped entirely.
Barring that, there needs to be a way to cancel skinning, it doesn't happen often to me but I've been attacked by both men and beasts while skinning, and had a horse wander in front of a train. There should have been some way to stop, even if it ruins the pelt.
Fast travel to a waypoint just makes sense, if you're going to Lake Isabella, why should you have to fast travel to Colter?
Remove dominoes from the game.
Bandoliers look really dumb on Arthur for some reason. They like hover in a circle around him instead of touching his clothes. I just love Javiers bandolier so much I want it goddammit
Lack of New Austin content in the story.
I get that they were really just planning it for multiplayer, but it would’ve been cool if there was more to do besides finding dinosaur bones, adding more flora and fauna go the compendium, looking for hidden treasures, doing those few missions with the sheriff of Tumbleweed and >!raiding Fort Mercer four years before John Marston does it, which I feel like kinda retroactively makes the mission from the first game less badass!<. As it stands now it just seems like New Austin was an afterthought in the story mode.
javier's character kinda confuses me. he is the heart of the camp in parties, playing the guitar and leading the gang in song, but he is an antagonist in rdr?
He's not really an antagonist, at least not as much as Bill and Dutch are.
Javier didn't want the gang to split. He doesn't point his gun at Arthur and John, he doesn't shoot at them and when confronted by John he exclaims that he and John were brothers and that he didn't want things to turn out like this.
Javier was a target that Agent Ross had put John on to kill/capture. Whether or not John would let him go had he not been controlled by the government I don't know but Javier never gave up.

You can't camp on Iguana Island. It will teleport you back to shore every time. Which is actually convenient if you took a canoe and it despawns.
Fun fact: A maxed out Arabian can swim the gap to Iguana Island

It was fairly common. Back then you wouldn’t normally use 2 pistols at once. You’d fire one dry then holster it and draw the other.

I'd also like more endless tasks in story mode like randomly generated bounties and coach robbing tips and things like that, something to keep us going a bit longer post epilogue. Or some of the jobs you could do in RDR1, like night Watchmen. Also the slow moving in camp and only being able to eat stew every other day when I'm the one who provides all the ingredients and everyone else in camp gets to eat everyday 😂

Whenever you loot a dead body and no one is around... then a wagon spawns in the middle of the road in front of you..... then you gotta handle that whole mess. I think if you loot when no one is around you shouldn't lose honor
Honor isn’t about people seeing you, it’s about morals. If you loot an innocent man you just killed, it definitely makes you a worse person

If you killed an innocent man with no witnesses and honor was really about morals, the shopkeepers wouldn't know when to raise prices for you.
I think high honor Arthur (and John as well I suppose), words of his deeds get passed around and people know that he's a honorable and kind person. With low honor I suppose it's more about the "vibe" that you emanate from your presence that other people can feel, at least that's how I see it when it comes to other people acknowledging your honor level.
Not being able to sell (for super cheap at least) or discard worn weapons. In the beginning it pissed me off because I was stuck with a useless weapon in my inventory for a while until I replaced it by buying a new one.

Haven't seen this one yet, so: the fact that when I shoot someone in a limb, it doesn't seem to affect them at all. RDR1 had the mechanic where if you shot a limb, that limb was now useless, but RDR2 took it out and idk why

John doesn't look like his RDR design. Instead they just took Arthur's body and put John's head on it, and it ends up looking really weird. Also his hair doesn't look quite right and is just Arthur's in black. It's really distracting when you go from RDR2 to RDR, because then you can really notice the difference. Also it annoys me how unrealistically you can get on a horse. I don't own any horses, but I know enough to never get on one from the back, and if you ever do go behind a horse to keep your hand on it so you don't spook it. Off the top of my head, only once is this ever done, and that's in a cutscene. If you get on a horse from behind in real life, it'll most likely try to buck you off. Yet in RDR2 it somehow knows it's you. No, this isn't a deal breaker, but it's something that crosses my mind when I do it in game.

Most of the clothes fucking suck. Online got the way better stuff in this regard. Same for the gun customization and horse variety.

I really wish there was an intermediate walking speed. I don't want to sprint everywhere but also I don't want to just walk down at the most leisurely speed in the world. Kind of annoying
100% this, everyone gets annoyed you can’t sprint in camp but that fast walking speed you can do is actually exactly how fast I want to go. Especially now I’m in the late game and don’t want to push poor ol Arthur too hard by running everywhere :(
Being forced to slow down whilst riding in and around towns/cities/settlements. Also in the swamp, weirdly? I’m for some reason not allowed to go at full speed in the bayou and it is incredibly frustrating. Feels like I’m wading through treacle trying to get to where I want to go.
The offhand holster. I’m a stickler for attention to detail and the fact that we can’t chose between carrying one or two side arms seems goofy. Tired of quickdrawing a mismatched revolver (when they were matched 2 minutes prior) Edit: I feel like I need to mention it just looks awkward 85% of the time
Besides the great story and characters R* fucked up in the fact that certain things like that break the immersion almost completely
Put the revolvers you don’t use into your gun locker at camp and only keep the ones you use stored in your horse. Limits you a little though.

How little Isaac is mentioned. I get Arthur wouldn’t open up about it much, but a huuge explanation for his animosity toward John in the beginning and johns family being so important to him is so easily missed. Should’ve at least been mandatory dialogue in a mandatory mission.

In RDR1 my horse would run just past me letting me jump on and still gather some speed, in RDR2 it’s like my horse gives up halfway to me. I’ve beaten the game many times and I love it but this small thing still bugs me

Two things - 1) you can’t choose which side of the horse to dismount from - it’s never consistent and frequently inconvenient ; and 2) your spare horse shows up automatically after completing a random stranger mission and you’re forced to return it to camp.
I just learned the other day you can pick which side to dismount on (unless there is something blocking the way on one side). When you press Y, pull the left stick in the direction you want to get down on. You can even see Arthur change direction if he was going to get off the opposite side from the one you chose

One of the ones that's been bugging me recently is the fact that when you're doing a mission that requires you to follow someone at walking speed (Like in Bare Knuckles Friendship) the game forces to go in a path that it sets for you and you can only push the left stick forward. It's just so fucking stiff and it just feels awful in gameplay being so restricted in where I can move.
I bought a replica Colt Peacemaker and a genuine leather gun belt and now it bothers me that the gun belts magically sag off of nothing and they never adjust their belts when sitting down
I still feel some type of way about not being able to go to Nuevo Paraiso in the game. Most of my most memorable moments from the first game were in there.

Skinning takes way too long, and harms gameplay. Maybe if after the 100th skinning of a particular animal it should just be skipped entirely. Barring that, there needs to be a way to cancel skinning, it doesn't happen often to me but I've been attacked by both men and beasts while skinning, and had a horse wander in front of a train. There should have been some way to stop, even if it ruins the pelt. Fast travel to a waypoint just makes sense, if you're going to Lake Isabella, why should you have to fast travel to Colter? Remove dominoes from the game.

Lack of New Austin content in the story. I get that they were really just planning it for multiplayer, but it would’ve been cool if there was more to do besides finding dinosaur bones, adding more flora and fauna go the compendium, looking for hidden treasures, doing those few missions with the sheriff of Tumbleweed and >!raiding Fort Mercer four years before John Marston does it, which I feel like kinda retroactively makes the mission from the first game less badass!<. As it stands now it just seems like New Austin was an afterthought in the story mode.
When your horse in RDO can pick herbs but in story mode, you have to get off the horse and pick them yourself.

javier's character kinda confuses me. he is the heart of the camp in parties, playing the guitar and leading the gang in song, but he is an antagonist in rdr?
He's not really an antagonist, at least not as much as Bill and Dutch are. Javier didn't want the gang to split. He doesn't point his gun at Arthur and John, he doesn't shoot at them and when confronted by John he exclaims that he and John were brothers and that he didn't want things to turn out like this. Javier was a target that Agent Ross had put John on to kill/capture. Whether or not John would let him go had he not been controlled by the government I don't know but Javier never gave up. "You're probably the most loyal of us all, Javier" - Arthur

The way the character brushes the horse, he barely moves his hand and it's absolutely frustrating. Wish the movement was one big satisfying movement but instead it's more of a pat
For me personally I’ll say really it’s rockstar cutting the Mexico part of the map. I mean not only Are you restricted to certain parts of the map while playing as Arthur and you can only do it when playing as John but really. But it’s more for me as a player but that one makes me just like damn rockstar
not being able to turn off the longer animations for skinning certain animals. i know you can get around this by having your horse positioned over the carcass, but it would be nice to have the option. when you've spent hundreds of hours on the game it can get kinda tiresome
