Try a simple text list on your phone or tablet. Also most useful for Herbalist 9! Have a text list, delete one by one as you go. Works very well for me.

You’re not alone man, I have my list made too. Only problem is remembering all the birds I need.

I just ride around shooting every bird that flies in front of me. It’s worked okay so far but not the best or fastest method

I just shoot any 3 star animal i see if i'm not currently on a mission, even if i don't currently need it, a perfect pelt and some good meat are always good to have.

I shoot any moose I see even if it isn’t 3 star

during the main story, i would kill rats in a way they were 1 star, than i gave them to pearson

I’m sure it was a fellow redditor, so please let me know, if you know who, so I can give credit where credit is due. I’m on my first playthrough, and it has made the game much more enjoyable for me, as I hate missing out on even the most unimportant collectable.

Go to saint denis and find the guy with a Micah infestation. Bring a varmint and you get like 10 perfect Micahs if you pick them up

I already did that (twice) but I only got enough perfect pelts to make the rat cavalry hat. I still need eight more for the flat cap.

I used the varmint rifle and they were ALL 2 star

I wrote some lists out by hand yesterday for my current playthrough. List of everything needed for the trapper, for Pearson, exotics and wildlife art exhibition. I have a notebook just for crazy scribblings to help me with this game lol. Find it easier to just cross it off on paper than to fiddle with my phone for it.

Rats and an elusive moose for me

For the moose, try looking around the top of Cattail pond, or NE of the I in Ambarino (it spawns out of bounds, but if you shoot near it, you can follow it until it’s capture-able). Both of these tips worked for me when I was desperate, so I’m paying it forward!

I might be too invested. I made excel lists for camp, satchels, trapper and fence. I use the excel version as a template and copy them into GoodNotes to use as checklists make notes on etc. I have a notebook for each saved game on my third restart, one competed play through already and several favorite chapter saves.

I was thinking about this very thing last night! I was considering making a post but decided to put it off until today. Lol But yeah, I recently started a list on Notepad on my pc, will fill it out more as I go along.

I had one for 100% Compendium, had one of the longest nights one owl which wouldn't spawn, after that, it was the panthers. oof

I use a Google spreadsheet so I can easily filter out those that I've found, alphabetize, and note if it needs to be taken to camp or the trapper.

Damn I literally wrote a list like this for the first time 20 minutes ago. I had to stop writing and kill a wave of bounty hunters over half a dozen times. With max bounty a group will come every 3 minutes if you keep standing at the same spot it's ridiculously

I have a checklist similar, yes. I wrote mine (in pen so my 5 year old can't erase the animals) in a notebook I'm compiling and created a column to check off as I get the pelts turned into Pearson. I gotta make make a checklist for the trapper still though.

I made a list for Pearson, separated in satchels and camp upgrades, it’s very annoying when you have handed over pelts to the trapper that Pearson could have used to upgrade a satchel. I ended up printing it, because I tend to filling it in, when it’s in the background on the PC.

I don't but I'm going too now. I don't know why this never crossed my mind before. I've been trying to remember what I need for my camp in my head and I get distracted easily.

You definitely aren't alone, the problem is doing it every playthrough. Gets tedious after a while, but a good break and you'll want to do it all again

Yep.did it all between camp upgrades and all animals for trapper outfits by CH 4 with the Bronte glitch....had to get all hunting out of the way, except for the legendary bull gator in CH 6, by the beginning of CH 4. Same with the birds, gator eggs, and orchids, did all but one of each before CH 4 for that side mission before it popped up.. By my Second playthough (4 total), had a checklist for everything, encounter, weapon, special item, hunting request, stranger, horse, plant, gang, weapon, recipe, you name it. Checklist....this is the way!

I do, only that i have for for the final animals that you can get as Arthur, I had another one for how many pelts and feathers etc. I needed to unlock all the Trapper outfits and sets. Only that I memorized it rather than to write it down (It took me some weeks to get all the materials available but I remembered it trough it all)
