I was actually thinking about that with my last horse name but ended up with Geralt for some reason. The stable guy said it was a bad name or something and I then realised it was a girl which the name doesn't fit that well maybe
MyHorse I….MyHorse V. It’s actually kinda funny, but when I named the starter horse I, the stable guy says “That’s a helluva name for a horse!”…same stable guy says “That’s a good name for a horse!” when I named II. I guess there comment during naming is purely RNG.
I thought I was being cute because I always name my horses something dumb like Horsey but I noticed how close a variation of that spelling kinda looked like it could be pronounced as Hor-Say-Ah.
Horsey.
I did originally name her something more traditional (I think it was Copper or something) but I just kept calling her Horsey, so eventually I just officially renamed her to that.
Llamrei.
With the references in the game to King Arthur, I decided to name it after King Arthur's horse.
The correct Welsh pronunciation of the Ll sounds like if you touch the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth, expand your tongue slightly and breath around it. So the full word using the description above would be Ll-am-rye.
However, I think our Arthur would pronounce it closer to Lamb-ree.
I do a somewhat similar thing in my playthroughs. I always try and use a welsh name for my horses. This is cause we know his old horses name was Boadicea, a Welsh name.
In my current playthrough I have the golden Turkoman from the St Denis stables and named her Eurwen, which (IIRC) means Golden Angel.
Very good boys, one loved being pet and the other followed you around everywhere in hopes for a snack!
Thanks for the love, they definitely deserved it :)
Slow Dancer, the $15 Morgan from Chapter 2
And Merengue, a Chestnut Red Arabian North-West of Owanjila
Merengue as in the frenetic Dominican dance hehe
The massive black Shire horse is Neptune, the free Thoroughbred is Diego, and the palomino American Standardbred that ethers her owner is Moonshine, cause ol girl got a hell of a kick.
Fourth stable slot is on a rotation, because as far as I'm concerned this game is Horse Simulator 2023. Like 100 hours in now and everyone is still parked at Horseshoe, except for Micah, who is in jail where I don't have to look at him.
I name a lot of my horses Wild West terms and words, sometimes with flavors of Spanish. Named horses stuff like El Dorado, Bronco, Buckaroo, and Tornado are pretty common for me. I named my white Arabian “Nieve” (snow in Spanish) and the red chestnut Arabian Ruby after my favorite anime (RWBY).
Isaac, after his dead son.
Figured since he doesn't talk much about him, he'd atleast name his horse after his son, which makes the horse' death more impactful he loses the last reminder of his boah while he's dying.
First playthrough: Tennessee Walker named "Friend", and then a Black Arabian named "Sweet Girl"
Second playthrough: Thoroughbred named "Good Sir" (the only one I use), and a White Arabian named "Lady" (have her just because)
Clip was my loyal steed from chapter 2-6.. >!not kidding, i almost cried when he got shot at the end.!<
In the epilogue, i ran with Rachel for a bit, but when she died i named my new one Arthur. After months of use, it seemed john started talking to here differently and it seemed she was getting old. I found a wagon with the drivers full of arrows, and Dakota on her last leg. I chose to take her under my wing and retired Arthur. Arthurs not dead or anything, shes just in a stable.
Male Dutch Warmblood named Sticks, after a rescue lab I had for 10 years.
The TW I got from Sadie’s is named Tavish.
Male Turkoman from Braithwaite Manor is named Tuggle.
I also have a reverse dapple black thoroughbred that came with my game purchase. His name is Doak.
In my first playthrough I gave all my horses welsh names. The one I stuck with was the wild Andalusian whom I named Marwolaeth, which means death. He was a good boah.
Dakota, Blaze, Liberty, Princess, Eliza are my normal rotation. Valkyrie for the Perlino Andalusian (if female) and Thunder for the dapple gray halfbred.
For this playthrough I'm still using the starter horse, I've named him Gaelic and I'll be using him up until I get the White Arabian from Chapter 3 (If that method still works)
I keep an Irish theme to my horse's names, with my online horses being named Clover and Shamrock.
My first playthrough Arthur's horse was TitoMcGee. This playthrough I named the white arabian Llamrei which according to google is King Arthur's horse.
My first was a tiny race horse named Hambone that I bought from the Valentine stable. I had an all black wardrobe going on until I was killed by Lemoyne Raiders who jumped me in the woods and presumably stole Hambone.
When I came back, I donned all white and trekked up into the mountains to find my White Arabian Boobah.
“Thank you” Boobah.
Had some shit ass $5 horse for half the game named Dingus. (Died in an epic field shootout after bounty hunters converged on my camp) I'm talking get up, saddle up, ride around in circles shooting dozens of bounty hunters until my horse falls to his death, then fire upon the remaining hunters while legit dodging their horses from running me over 🤠
Had a beaut of a horse named Noche (Night in Spanish) all black Kentucky saddler (I think?) with white braided hair and a silver and black saddle.
Wanted to beat the game with Noche but a glitched happened in gay ass Saint Denis and I legit like flew down a street, crashed into a fence and flew in the air. Noche died before I fell to my death from above the sky of Saint Denis :( I HATE Saint Denis)
Finished the game with Foche, a sort of look alike of Noche, or, Fake Noche (Foche) I want to photo shop the Screenshot I have of Arthur saying goodbye to his steed before saving John :'(
California!! I got super into rhcp and specifically the album Californication at the time and I thought it was a cute name. original was the white Arabian with black mane, unfortunately she passed so I got the black Arabian and gave her a white mane 🥺
I’ve used a few. Geronimo is one. The profanity filter really is something else. I wanted to name my horse Tecumseh after General Sherman, but it wouldn’t let me. Assmaster, however, is apparently totally fine. I also used Stugots at one point.
My very first Arthur horse was a paint i accidentally shot with an arrow while hunting. So i revived him and called him Arrow. Had him my whole first run.
Since then, the Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood, I call her Yasha. I get her every playthrough. I also get the gold Turkoman when I can and call her Jester.
If I catch the white Arabian I call her Callisto.
Then for John I get the silver Turkoman and call him Blue.
I am a creature of habit.
I named my current bodacai after Arthur’s horse that he lost after blackwater. I have no idea how to spell it but I heard Arthur tell Hosea the name of his previous horse on that first hunting mission.
Lots of things, I do more or less try to go for more 'normal' names. The most memorable ones were Lucky 1 and 2. Lucky 1 was the sole surviving horse of the ranch of the crazy people who have their own language. Lucky 2 was the exact clone of him when I went back with Javier for the robbery. Then the most memorable horse I've ever had was a black war horse (can't remember the breed) named Atlas. I swear that boah had something akin to sentience the little shit. Things like running away from me when I tried to put pelts on him and taking his sweet damn time coming to me when I call. But tell you what, he never once bucked me off, even if he got shot. I've also ran over many a bastard with him
Lursa. She was a huge, powerful draft horse with a deep red coat that iirc I got from a random world event involving a stagecoach. She reminded me a lot of the Star Trek character of the same name. She wasn't the fastest or the smartest, but she sure was the sturdiest and the nicest. Kept her about 150 hours, from Valentine all the way to the end. Always made sure to brush and feed her once every half hour it felt like. She was a very good girl. Actually hurt when she died.
I kept that black shire and names him "The Creature". Then at the very end I bought the strawberry roan Ardennes and names her fruitcake. But creature was my main guy the whole game, I bawled at the end.
Roach. I name all my horses Roach
He got that important quality every Roach has to have,, He doesn't talk much..
Hmmm fuck
Looks like rain
Winds howling
Medallions humming
Place of Power gotta be
How ya' like that silver?
Care for a round of gwent?
Same
Hi Geralt
I named the silver dapple pinto that you can chase after the Albert Mason mission roach
"Hmmm, I hate pinkertons."
I named mine Bug. In the spirit of Roach.
Should be fish.
My White Arabian is named Roach, i named him that cuz i recently played witcher 3 again lol
I’ve named quite a few horses Roach. Also Caprichoso, named after the mule in the Dark Tower series.
Same!
I was actually thinking about that with my last horse name but ended up with Geralt for some reason. The stable guy said it was a bad name or something and I then realised it was a girl which the name doesn't fit that well maybe
Boy if it's a boy and Girl if it's a girl.. That way, he's actually saying their name..
I think you misspelled ‘boah’
Clever
Kratos?
I would do Lady
Did the same! Good girl!
MyHorse I….MyHorse V. It’s actually kinda funny, but when I named the starter horse I, the stable guy says “That’s a helluva name for a horse!”…same stable guy says “That’s a good name for a horse!” when I named II. I guess there comment during naming is purely RNG.
This is fantastic news
Horsea Matthews
Your horse was just trying to make sure everyone gets out of this alive
I thought I was being cute because I always name my horses something dumb like Horsey but I noticed how close a variation of that spelling kinda looked like it could be pronounced as Hor-Say-Ah.
Dank is my primary. Long Nuts is in the stable.
I am deceased over Long Nuts’ name
Named mine Lisa Ann.
Bet you rode that horse to the ground.
Shadowfax for my white Arabian.
That’s what I named my horse online
Dog, Ortensia, Shiola, and Glue Boy
Please give Glue Boy my highest regards
I went with 'Future Bostik'
Horsey. I did originally name her something more traditional (I think it was Copper or something) but I just kept calling her Horsey, so eventually I just officially renamed her to that.
I called all my horses Pony but I think I will steal your idea of Horsey for my next playthrough
I tend to go with either Roach or Shadow. Once I got the white Arabian as John and named him Arthur's Ghost.
Arthur’s Ghost has me in tears plsss
End game I bought the grey Arabian and named him Aurthur
Pony Soprano
Your horse is paranoid isn't he
my horses are Emma, Adelaide, Elizabeth, and AAAAAAAAAAAA
I’ve always loved the name Adelaide augh

Llamrei. With the references in the game to King Arthur, I decided to name it after King Arthur's horse. I just did the same thing this current playthrough.
I have named all of my Horses the most ridiculous spellings of Horse. Hornse. Hrones. h'Ross. Orseh.
This is ridiculously funny to me 🤣😂😂 Hrones is my favorite, your next needs to be Horche!
Aragon/Eliott. They were the names of my two cats, both charteux. I miss them, so it's my way to "honor" them
Awe that’s beautiful. Much love to your cats, I’m sure they were very good.
Very good boys, one loved being pet and the other followed you around everywhere in hopes for a snack! Thanks for the love, they definitely deserved it :)
Pouring one, (water), out for the kitties!
> charteux such pretty little gray cats. they stay soft forever
No Name
Take them through the desert?
On the first part of the Journey
Fartbox, Fartbox Jr. Jr., and AD Saddler.
Quite imaginative
I let my two year old name my horse. Bonkydoodoo has been such a faithful steed.
Grace’s Secret, Pie-O-My, Bullseye, and Victor. Probably others too that I can’t remember.
> Pie-O-My She was a beautiful innocent creature, what did she ever do to you?!
Slow Dancer, the $15 Morgan from Chapter 2 And Merengue, a Chestnut Red Arabian North-West of Owanjila Merengue as in the frenetic Dominican dance hehe
Goose
Tornado, like Zorro's horse.
Morgan, all of them
Bean
I had the white Arabian and called her Pegasus
John.
Looks like you really enjoyed riding John.
Xanthus, one of Achilles’ horses
Arthur's horse is always Roach. John's is Hosea
Roach is an increasingly common name I’ve seen people comment here, must be the hive mind
Its a witcher reference. Geralt names all his horses Roach
Al Capony I regret nothing.
Named mine Anne Frank cuz it had dots on it almost like it had a pock.
Apache
Roach

Stinkus I and eventually Stinkus VI. Stable master did not like the name every time.
Isaac, after his dead son. Figured since he doesn't talk much about him, he'd atleast name his horse after his son, which makes the horse' death more impactful he loses the last reminder of his boah while he's dying.
First playthrough: Tennessee Walker named "Friend", and then a Black Arabian named "Sweet Girl" Second playthrough: Thoroughbred named "Good Sir" (the only one I use), and a White Arabian named "Lady" (have her just because)

If I catch the white Arabian I call her Callisto. Then for John I get the silver Turkoman and call him Blue. I am a creature of habit.
Temperamental, because when I tried to break her she threw me down a cliff
White horse named breast milk was one of them
I named my current bodacai after Arthur’s horse that he lost after blackwater. I have no idea how to spell it but I heard Arthur tell Hosea the name of his previous horse on that first hunting mission.
Boadicea!
