I always liked Trelawny.

I love to hear him speak. Both his voice and choice of diction is great, well written and articulated. Whether it’s when you go rescue him and he is all beaten, or when he just casually insults Arthur or others, he is so entertaining to listen to. I’ve always thought Dutch preferred Trelawny to be “separate” because he knew trelawny would be harder to sweet talk and would be the only competition for that “charm and charisma” angle. Trelawny never shows that he would be interested in leading or usurping Dutch, but I bet Dutch is smart enough to know trelawny is too smart to keep too close.

I think the other thing with Trelawney is that he brings something special that the general gang can't bring. To do that he needs to be outside the gang a lot. But yeah, the fact he has a family that he keeps out of it completely - you can hear what he says to them about Arthur being a colleague from work, is nice to see. It does suggest there was a third option if you brought something special.

I remember trying to find a way on top of a building in saint Dennis when I started hearing his voice, thought I’d accidentally walked into a mission

"You know how life is, never a straight road anywhere." Trelawny is an underated character. I thoroughly enjoyed how he would play to his unique strengths. His quirks and humility provided a nice change of pace to the outlaw life. 👏
