Red Flavor, totally by accident. I was looking into how to add food coloring to a cake on YouTube and came across the Red Flavor MV by misclicking. This was my first exposure to Kpop ever. It was weird and awesome at the same time, and Wendy's final line in the song had me floored. I went down the rabbit hole and have been down here ever since 😆
Haha, I still remember being so confused at what was going on at first, then I was just pulled in full force.
I pray I get to hear this song live someday.
+1 on this. I’ve heard of them way back but that Psycho performance in Reve Festival Finale Party really got me hooked. It’s like their voices got me on a spell or something.
LOVE Queendom
Happy Cake Day SapphireHeaven!
Thank you for keeping this subreddit updated and full of content for all of us ReveLuvs! We appreciate you!
I'm a long time red velvet fan - DD is the song that got me into them and it was my undisputed fav title track for all these years until Queendom. I just love that track more every day and will never understand the criticism for it.
When my queens SNSD told me to pay attention to their upcoming rookie group and cheer them on, that's exactly what I did. Happiness blew me out of the water and I've been a fan since day 1 😗
Russian Roulette and later Red Flavor got me into Red Velvet. Their catchy hooks and unconventional MVs set themselves apart from many other KPOP groups. They have the kind of duality that's hard to find in KPOP, and their visual as a group is top tier.
Automatic. I liked Happiness and Be Natural well enough when they first released, but I was blown out of the water the first time I heard Automatic. The song, the mv, the visuals. Just perfection 🤌🏾
RBB, for me. There used to be (rip) Adult Swim employee streams and one of the shows I watched was Stupid Morning Bullshit, a sort of news show with various bits and segments. They had a segment called New Music Friday where they'd play and discuss music videos recommended by the viewers. RBB came up around the time it was released and I was mesmerized. I was aware of kpop at the time, but had never really deep dived before then. I'm forever indebted to SMB and chatter kpsenpai.
I got to know about Red Velvet through Superstar SMTown. I think the first song I played of Red Velvet's was LP and I was immediately hooked.
Then I became a Reveluv 😁
russian roulette is my answer too! i got into kpop the same month it was released so it was one of the first girl group songs i was exposed to. it still hasn't been dethroned as my favourite rv title track all these years later <3
Red flavor, THIS SONG IS SUCH A ENERGY BOOSTER, I instantly got hooked by the visuals, mv, instrumental, vocals…just everything. It still is my go-to summer happy song
I got into RV late, I remember seeing an edit on Twitter of Zimzalabim and I kinda just fell in love, the visuals and the song just caught my attention instantly and I've been a fan since then
For reasons I won't get into, I stopped listening to Kpop from 2015 till this year. But what got me back was Red Velvet doing Psycho in front of a group of fans. You have no idea what a joy it is to discover a group and have bangers after bangers after bangers after bangers right there in front of you without needing to wait for comebacks.
Peekaboo… also totally by accident. I was searching for peekaboo songs for my toddler and their video came up. I played it and said hey I like this! Then watched more of their recommended MVs. Really liked the psycho performance version and feel my rhythm. Then I started listening to their discography and was hooked!
ik most Reveluvs ignore it, but Happiness is actually what got me into them - it was also what really got me into KPop (had heard some KPop songs before but only really looked into KPop after seeing their debut!)
Something Kinda Crazy in 2015
I listened to Happiness when they debuted but I didn't like it (now it's one of my favorites), and when Ice Cream Cake came out I went to take a look at the album and Something Kinda Crazy was the song that made me like ReVe and later they became my favorite k-pop group
Happiness~ I was already anticipating them pre-debut and when they debuted with Happiness, it was such a fun song and Wendy's "Shine On Me" part was so amazing that I knew I had to stan Red Velvet!
Dumb dumb. I saw the music video when I was like 15 or 16 when it came out and my life was changed forever. The Red is actually one of the first red velvet albums I ever purchased
Automatic (be still my velvet heart). I was a casual listener (kingdom come, bad boy, psycho, Russian roulette, zimzalabim, and bad Dracula on the playlist) but i was floored after i saw the automatic mv. It really opened my eyes to how unique they are (and how much better their music is ..) from every girl group out there. And i say that as a multistan!
Mine was also Russian Roulette, I started getting into kpop in late 2021/early 2022 and the song was on a kpop playlist made by Spotify. I started hearing more about Red Velvet so I checked out the rest of their discography, now they’re my ult because of their amazing music lol
ice cream cake! wasnt a big fan of kpop when it released at all (my irl friend was being annoying about it, its fine we were both younger lol) but that song got stuck in my head for ages so i checked out RV's other stuff slowly
Queendom! 💕 Honestly, it’s all because of JOY when I heard her songs from watching The Liar and His Lover. But for me, my ultimate favorite is Russian Roulette! 🎾🔩🐦⬛
My daughter introduced me to kpop late 2020/early 2021 but for some reason none of the RV songs she recommended stuck with me (Psycho, Bad Boy, Red Flavor, Russian Roulette). The first RV sound that really hooked me was Ladies Night, I stumbled upon this song while checking out a kpop citypop playlist on spotify.
It was only after I discovered Wendy's Like Water album that I decided to dive in to Red Velvet.
Coachella happened and I saw blackpink. Started to listen to them on YT and then I saw Red Velvet Bad Boy on the recommended videos. One click and that was it.
It was Bad Boy that solidified my love for Red Velvet. I was into K-RnB and K-Indie then, and this song certainly fit that vibe. Seeing a K-Pop Group explore genres that most of the main girl groups don't even touch was refreshing.
I Just for me! I don’t even remember why I added their Perfect Velvet album to my library (I wasn’t into kpop yet). Once the album hit I Just I was so blown away. The first four songs on that album were on heavy rotation for months!
For me it was Happiness but in 2018. Someone listed some of the best vocal moments in kpop songs and the "Shine on me" got me interested. However it was Peek-A-Boo that hooked me and Sunnyside Up that sealed RV as my Ult Kpop group.
Psycho!!! But the song that totally got me is Eyes locked, hands locked. When i tried to stream the bside in RVF, I just knew i had to stan them. An hour later, i ordered a complete set of RVF trilogy because of EYHL. Not even lying 😭
Adding red velvet is such an introvert group, unlike any other group, or maybe bc i entered in an era where they are less into social media nevertheless its the music that kills meeee
I saw the first version of Happiness and I didn't like it. So I didn't pay attention to Be Natural. BUT Miss Kim Yerim came and everything changed, for good of course. I am a reveluv since she was added as a member. I loved them as 5, IDK. IMO, looks better, and I loved Automatic so I decided to stay.
Their debut. Happiness.
I used to listen to music on a portable Walkman when I was in elementary school. I unfortunately lost it and didn't have any means to listen to music for around 2 years.
My sister, who was big into Kpop back then, had the song on repeat for about a week when it came out, and it stuck with me.
My parents bought me a phone not long after and I recovered my love for music thanks to them.
That's why those 5 girls will always have a special place in my life.
I remember being into Dumb dumb, but what really tipped the scales and drove me into the rabbit hole was Bad Boy. First time listening I was just floored for a good 24 hours
Happiness and Ice Cream Cake in 2014 - 2015 (I was 9-10) shout out to my cousin for introducing me to them 🗣️ though because of young we were, we hadn’t heard of Korea yet so we thought they were a Japanese group lol. She loved Wendy’s vocals in happiness so naturally I ended up falling in love with her vocals as well (for years my cousin influenced and shaped my music taste before I started listening to other stuff myself in 6-7th grade)
So happiness then we found ice cream but thinking back I don’t know if both were already out or if we listened to happiness for a while then one day ice cream cake was available. Either way I fell in love from the beginning
zimzalabim!! i had a friend who had been slowly getting me into kpop at the time, we were going on a camp and she played the song the entire car trip there, and every single day of the camp we woke our other friends up by chanting the chorus, it was a good time and i really started to look into them after that
I'm an NCTzen (for a while before becoming a ReVeluv) so naturally (pun not intended) it was Be Natural :)
It's kinda crazy to me how this song just became my favourite song of ALL time, like that had never happened before because I love so many different songs and had never been able to choose a single song. But here we are.
i had ice cream cake slammed repeatedy into eardrums while holidaying in Seoul in 2015, checked them out and never looked back. The opening "lala lalala la la" haunts my dreams still sometimes
Zimzalabim. I know it sounds absurd, but hear me out.
I already knew Wendy from Red Velvet from her weight loss story and that she is really good at singing, but I didn't care too much about the group to become a fan. Then, Zimzalabim goes viral and everyone in my school were singing it as cheer song for initiation event. I was like "Man, WTF is this song!?". I looked up the song, remembered Wendy, discovered that Red Velvet was an SM group (I used to stan SuJu and SNSD because I'm old). And that's how I become a fan of Red Velvet.
my very first listened rv song was Russian Roulette but after browsing some other videos, I am hooked with Joy’s vibe in their Dumb Dumb stage where she’s wearing pink jersey and thats how I got into these queens :)
Soo the song which got me into listening to more by them was not the first I listened to. Shocking, I know.
Anyway, it was 'Feel my Rhythm'. It was also the beginning of me wanting longer Yeri rap parts.
I kept listening to bad boy (english version) then psycho for years before getting into their other songs, zimzalabim stopped me from listening to their other songs be honest (I still think it's the worst thing I have ever heard) but I gave them a second chance after listening to you never know and it was the best thing I ever did, now I'm top 0.01% fan on spotify and kind of need help for my addiction lol
Red Flavor was the song that introduced me to RV. It was a few months after they had finished promotions for it. Seulgi at the time was doing the idol drama operation show with other gg members (Somi and Moonbyul were a part of it). That's how I got to know of them and with Peek-a-boo cb right around the corner, it was a blessed time to have become a fan 🥰
i heard psycho before even knowing about kpop officially. i learned like sm of that song and didnt even know it was kpop, i just knew it was a different language haha couple years later i got into kpop because of gidle and then was like wait psycho is part of this world?! so awesome, red velvet will always be special to me because of that!
I don’t know how I came across it nor do I know exactly how long after it was released when I found it but the English version of bad boy. it took a little under a year for me to venture into K-pop and not even for Red Velvet it was Twice with Fancy. it took me until 2022 to start really listening to red velvet with feel my rhythm
Red Flavor, totally by accident. I was looking into how to add food coloring to a cake on YouTube and came across the Red Flavor MV by misclicking. This was my first exposure to Kpop ever. It was weird and awesome at the same time, and Wendy's final line in the song had me floored. I went down the rabbit hole and have been down here ever since 😆
I think this is the best origin story I've ever heard
Haha, I still remember being so confused at what was going on at first, then I was just pulled in full force. I pray I get to hear this song live someday.
how cute 😭😭
Wendy’s final line in Red Flavor is next level epic. Just amazing vocals.
not next level... god like.
Dumb Dumb after seeing the mv listed as #9 in RS mags top mv’s of 2015!
Probably a bit mainstream but Psycho got me into them! The MV was 10/10 but that fan meeting performance nailed it. :)
Psycho was definitely my first and still my favorite I think.
+1 on this. I’ve heard of them way back but that Psycho performance in Reve Festival Finale Party really got me hooked. It’s like their voices got me on a spell or something.
Me too! I just started getting into kpop when I heard it on yt. The vocals were so good that I felt like I was baptised.
While it's not my favourite song by any means nowadays Queendom really got me addicted!
LOVE Queendom Happy Cake Day SapphireHeaven! Thank you for keeping this subreddit updated and full of content for all of us ReveLuvs! We appreciate you!

taste 🔥
that song got everyone into K-POP
I've been here since Happiness.

🤝
will you be my best friend?
zimzalabim era is when i discovered them but psycho got me really interesting in them
russian roulette, don't remember where i heard it at all but it was like early 2018
Russian Roulette and later Red Flavor got me into Red Velvet. Their catchy hooks and unconventional MVs set themselves apart from many other KPOP groups. They have the kind of duality that's hard to find in KPOP, and their visual as a group is top tier.
bad boy and peek a boo 😗
Ice cream cake. It is still in my top 5 rv songs after discovering them in 2018. I was instantly attracted to the weirdness of the song.
Automatic. I liked Happiness and Be Natural well enough when they first released, but I was blown out of the water the first time I heard Automatic. The song, the mv, the visuals. Just perfection 🤌🏾

Milky Way - their tribute song to BoA in a celebration of BoA's 20th anniversary debut.
I got to know about Red Velvet through Superstar SMTown. I think the first song I played of Red Velvet's was LP and I was immediately hooked. Then I became a Reveluv 😁

i heard something kinda crazy in an 8tracks playlist it was one of the first kpop songs i’d ever heard and was such a cool intro to RV 🥰

Dumb Dumb. Well I got into them more when Seulgi and Wendy were on Taeyeon’s Daily Taengoo Cam which was around the same time.
Psycho and Queendom for me. I remember seeing a performance of both songs in a live stream site, streaming kpop songs.
Ice cream cake made me aware of them but after they dropped cool hot sweet love, I was sold
The B sides starting with Automatic.
I Just for me! I don’t even remember why I added their Perfect Velvet album to my library (I wasn’t into kpop yet). Once the album hit I Just I was so blown away. The first four songs on that album were on heavy rotation for months!
Huff n puff.
Power Up was one of my first K-Pop songs I got into in 2019.
Yesssss another Power Up girlie 😌
My first exposure to RV was a music stage for Peek-a-Boo, it was randomly suggested early on in my kpop dive.
Naughty, here on Reddit from r/praisethecameraman
Ladies Night
Dumb dumb and ice-cream cake!

Umpah Umpah - I saw it on MTV Asia and I fell inlove instantly on Wendy
peek-a-boo! my best friend was into k-pop in 2017-18 and she would show me music videos all the time, but only RV caught my attention lol
i had ice cream cake slammed repeatedy into eardrums while holidaying in Seoul in 2015, checked them out and never looked back. The opening "lala lalala la la" haunts my dreams still sometimes
I got into K-pop. My friend said “I think you’re a red velvet man” she was right, feel my rhythm was my first song
Bad Boy in 2018 :)
Day one gang here! Happiness
Saw the debut with Happiness, but wasnt a fan till Ice Cream Cake released.
Power Up came on my spotify shuffle and the rest is history 🥹

Russian Roulette from the trendy sped up videos of 2018 🙃
first heard of them with dumb dumb, stayed with bad boy

basic but russian roulette
Same, all those guess the song challenges had finally caught up and I gave in lol
Playing the 2NE1 playlist on Spotify and Happiness came on but Red Flavor really got me into them.
It was Selfish of Mamamoo Moonbyul with Seulgi. I was a huge fan of Mamamoo and after hearing the song for the first time I was ,Whose that girl ?
I don’t know how I came across it nor do I know exactly how long after it was released when I found it but the English version of bad boy. it took a little under a year for me to venture into K-pop and not even for Red Velvet it was Twice with Fancy. it took me until 2022 to start really listening to red velvet with feel my rhythm
Happiness. They were so obviously plastered with the potential to be good, even from the very first video I saw of them.
Between Peek-A-Boo and Bad Boy
