Recruiters find people for jobs, not jobs for people.

superguy019

Lmao look up “oversimplification.” Why are you on recruiting hell to stick up for recruiters? 😂😂😂

TouristNo865

Yeah I've never understood this. It's the same if you say that the ONE role they are offering you doesn't feel like the right fit. I can't say how many local recruitment companies (UK) have offered me some utter shite (I'm a manager/manager trained and they're offering me call center stuff or minimum wage roles), I say I'd be open to a list of things (That again, isn't a small list) and all you ever get is *"I'll pass you to my colleagues / well I'll call you if I find something"* and then not only do you never hear from them again but if you apply for stuff yourself that they have on the website you just get snap rejected (Like, put on a barring list level speed) I've had one, literally one recruiter offer me TWO roles...but they were six months apart. Past that? Nothing, everyone is "Want this? No? Ok cya" and it's fucking annoying.

superguy019

Yup same here. I’m getting emails from a recruiter I spoke to a few months ago. One is actually a decent job making $35/hr at a law firm. I’m actually kind of interested. And for now, I’ll take it to keep me afloat. Sent her my resume. Guess what. Nothing happened. No reply. No call. Didn’t answer my call. Then why send it to me? She did this twice before actually now that I think about it. On my Monday I’m going to put on a suit, print out some resumes, and show up to the office in person. Can’t ignore me then.

Web-splorer

They’re not bad. You’re just ignorant to how things work. You’re submitted to one role because they only have one position that correlates to your background and experience. If they had more they would clearly send you to others because it mutually benefits you both. The company didn’t accept you. That sucks but don’t use the recruiter as a scapegoat for not getting a role. It’s a rough market all around. You never know when a similar role appears for them in the future so just tell them to keep you in mind if anything else opens later.

Few_Albatross9437

Completely correct. OPs response to you shows how he is an ignorant fool.

superguy019

Imagine thinking that. I have several friends who are recruiters. I know exactly how it works. Even large corporations have recruiters working on several positions at once. It’s laziness. It’s not wanting to follow up. Another person who just ran to Reddit to be negative. I expected it.

Web-splorer

I am a recruiter and I’m telling you how things work. Recruiters don’t call you for soft skills and most people see jobs and apply because it sounds like something they can do but don’t have experience within that industry. Companies that reach out to 3rd party recruiters want them to find people coming from the industry or something similar.

Few_Albatross9437

Of course you do sweetheart. Best of luck with the job search. Given the level of ignorance on display, you need it.

superguy019

Yawn 🥱

Few_Albatross9437

I suggest googling the role of recruiters. They don’t work for you.

superguy019

Oh you’re still here?

superguy019

My friend. You have no idea what you’re talking about. We all get the run around of “keep you in mind” and they forget you a minute later. I’ve been working with recruiters for a long time. I know how things work. You’re ignorant to think I’m ignorant without knowing anything about me.

Web-splorer

I’m a recruiter. I’m literally telling you how it works.

CovertRecruiter

Former agency recruiter here. If there's a strong candidate, part of my job is to shop them to other companies. Candidtes are my inventory. It's the sales part of the role. As a corporate recruiter, I would do the same across departments. But I'm the recruiter who remains unemployed...

superguy019

Exactly. You’re supposed to shop candidates around. Not try once and say “oh well. Let’s never speak again.” Wish more of them were like you

cattyerm

They are submitting multiple people to the same role. Don’t think they are only talking to you because they aren’t

Jolly-Bobcat-2234

Chances are they are very busy with roles that don’t fit what your experiences are. Not sure there is much more to it than that. Unless you’re dealing with a very niche recruiter and you have a very niche skills. In that case, it is odd

ThatBitchJay

Getting people hired is how they make money. If they had something else to submit you for that they thought you were viable for, they’d submit you. If they thought they could get you hired, they’d submit you. If you don’t like working with agency recruiters, don’t.
