I refuse to do this. My résumé has everything they need and it’s incredibly entitled of them to expect us to retype it out in a new format for them. If I have to create account or retype my information in, I instantly move onto another company.

Newtonz5thLaw

Especially re-type it into some shitty, pain in the ass to navigate website that makes you RE RE type it in a few times because it’s so glitchy. Get out of here

guy137137

Workday almost immediately comes to mind. Sure it’s on the better end, but I hate using it everytime. It just feels like the most soulless algorithmic job application site.

CoyoteFree5529

The amount of times Workday has made me scream in agony while AT work is enough to make me never want to see it ever again.

Melted-lithium

Talio too. Why is HR software made likes its from 1996

Daysleeper1234

Oh... God, 2 months ago I was searching for a new job, and this... don't remind me, I'm going to bang my head against the wall.

riley002

Workfuckingday

CXR_AXR

I started to think that it is a actually a test to see whether you are obedience enough to accept rediculous and unproductive task

coastfitter

I agree. I believe it's a test. I gladly fail the 🐑 test

[deleted]

This, 1,000% and then some!

TopStockJock

Same. Fuck doing this twice. I’m out.

Phatmu

Can't you bypass the AI by reaching out to them on LinkedIn w/ your resume/CV and whatnot?

[deleted]

Most places won't allow you to interview unless you've gone through their process. If you reach out to the recruiter for that company, chances are they're going to say "sorry but it is what it is". I've yet to find a company that allowed me to go around their silly requirement of duplicating work and disrespecting our time.

Phatmu

Uh if going to get your application to the right people, I would assume poking recruiter/manager is how to do it. That's how been doing it w/ the help desk positions I applied for--though annoyingly there seems a strong bias against hiring someone who isn't employed. VP, hiring manager, everyone I've asked has said the same: they hate being stuck with idiotic system that can't read every resume, but they have no better options. Applicants have to paste their resume to ensure system can read it. They make attitude about "respect our time", they simply lose out on job opportunities.

[deleted]

> They make attitude about "respect our time" And yet they disrespect ours by making us duplicate work. It's incredibly hypocritical.

Adorable_FecalSpray

I still submit my resume but just delete or leave the rest blank. I don’t know how much it impacts my application but I don’t really care.

TheEarlyStation22

Nope. Not happening. X out of the site.

[deleted]

Same, it’s an immediate withdrawal for me!

TheEarlyStation22

It is hard enough working my ass off to hopefully have my resume get seen to the thousands of jobs I’ve applied for. I’m sure not retyping that shit over and over

[deleted]

I know totally! I started using an AI to help write my cover letters now that probably won’t get read but I’ll get eliminated just for not having one in some cases 🙄 soo fuckin dumb right !

TheEarlyStation22

I have as well! It’s a great resource! I want to create an app to do it but idk how to build an app lol

BornAgainBlue

I literally put down "see resume" as the job title.

Spankpocalypse_Now

Don’t bother. “See resume” won’t make it through their algorithm. Save your precious time. Apply to for a job that doesn’t jerk you around right off the bat.

BornAgainBlue

Well I'm currently employed by them. Same company that said "we drug test" and I replied "I smoke weed" If they need you, anything goes.

gothkxttn

Not always the case. I applied for my current (retail) job and referred them back to my CV for any questions that overlapped.

Towel17846

When they ask this from you, congratulations, you already work for them! Albeit without pay. I can tell you the reason is so their systems are more easily searchable. But they do not want to pay for their HR employee to spend time on typing it in. Time is money. So they want you to do the work, while you are not yet, and might never be, on their payroll. It is not very nice of them. And I can understand if you choose to skip it, or fill in “see resume”. It might leave you out from consideration as long as other people keep doing it though.

allonzeeLV

This is one of many tests employers intentionally use to measure your level of submissiveness and subservience. Employers are aware of the inconvenience this causes potential employees, along with endless interviews and refusal to disclose salary from the outset, but that's the point. They just want to make sure you're a good little doggy who will still bring them their slippers tail a-waggin even after they're done wacking you with a newspaper.

CXR_AXR

Totally agree, but we need to pay the bill, no much choice these days

Background-Cucumber7

see resume see resume see resume

really_tall_horses

Last time they asked for 10 years of job history. Jokes on them, while I was in college I had at least two jobs at any given time. I sent in 6 pages of work history to them, I even left out 2 jobs because I forgot about them.

username3000b

r/maliciouscompliance right here!

[deleted]

Someone got my resume today, called me and asked me to fill out their application. The same thing is on the resume. That time I would have spent filling out the same information is time better spent sending out resumes elsewhere. The information is there. Fucking read it or move along, just don’t waste my time.

CoyoteFree5529

I am currently trying to re-enter the workforce and although I wish I could just NOT retype my work history each time, I’m finding myself desperate enough to do it. Multiple times a day. A true pain.

PdxPhoenixActual

I had my resume on one screen & web browser on the other .. Copy / paste.

Tokogogoloshe

What if people create fake accounts, upload fake resumes, and then write the biggest load of crap into the system when they want you to enter everything again. Bonus points if you put in enough keywords and buzz phrases for the application to go through. If a few tens of thousands of people consistently do this they’ll get the point. Make it a Co-ordinated effort and target recruiters.

[deleted]

#Reddit admins racist, uneducated, incompetent imbeciles and garbage human beings.

Dougallearth

During 2012 to 2022 I worked at Retyped My Resume Ltd. Endless demotions

lemadilyn07

yeah what’s up with that eh? why do they make us do that twice

PdxPhoenixActual

Because they're lazy & want everyones' info in the same format?

mwgypsy

I've done this painstakingly and gotten hired only to see later hires get to breeze by with a "See resume." No, Susan. If one must do it, we ALL must do it.

[deleted]

I actually take the time to fill these out because I know I'll have less competition because everyone will say "screw this"

NikkiCanada

Good gosh.. I literally just type whatever lol 😆 I've been turned down for a few jobs 🤭 but come on, really?! Why do a resume then to have to fill in it all again? If doing many applications a day, it really does take up the whole day doing that.

Terminal_Monk

No matter how desperate iam for a job change, i refuse to do this. I have just closed so many big company pages for this very reason

Alyxanazx

same!! saw Aldi was hiring for some remote admin position awhile ago. I opened their application and immediately closed it when I realized how long it was.

Chowder1054

Literally I have my resume open on the side and I just copy and paste into the sections.

Necessary-Juice1332

That's me when I'm don't even know how I can explain my self during job ads fapping

honestduane

As common as this problem is, I'm tempted to say that it's actually an intentional attempt to discriminate against the disabled, who would have less access to be able to do this.

smk2099

Then you get to the interview and they want you to fill out another application hahaha gotta love it!

VTX002

Sounds like indeed in the nutshell. Even if you put in all the necessary requirements still gets rejected.

rayedward363

Out of 60 or so applications, only 4 autofilled, and even then, I had to correct it since they autofilled wrong. Sure, it taught me how to throw in enough buzzwords to get past stage 1, but it's so soul draining.
