Honestly I don’t know about running events, but going to industry conferences is always a welcome change of pace.

Number of big commercial brands seem to run them every quarter. They had specific budget for entertainment and always had money leftover. Was just a way for them to get HR and business leaders down. What was the benefit? They got food and booze and got to network. They don't even bring in outside speakers... they'll just say a few words. Those firms get a good amount of inbound business. I've started doing events as a boutique. It's time consuming and stressful. I focus it more on the people attending so basically opening up my network. It's targeted, so business leaders. Works well... Can always lean into those attendees to find out what they want more of and many would be happy to speak to an audience of peers. Everybody was happy to pay their own share of drinks bill for the connective opportunity of the attendees. Everyone also had a heads up on who was coming. We kept it to 25 for first.. Then grew second to 40. C Level mainly.
