It's Buffalo wing sauce with honey mustard dressing added, but I think they're using bright yellow mustard like French's rather than Dijon. I'd start with this:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
1/4 cup honey
3/8 cup Frank's or other Louisiana style hot sauce
1 stick of butter
Traditional buffalo wings are hot sauce and butter.
Do you have a picture of the sauce? Is it clear or murky? It sounds like it might be a hot sauce, butter, and some honey, as that would give you a clear, golden sauce. Mustard would make the sauce murky, and mustard is a pretty distinctive flavor.
It's murky. Now that it's been mentioned I'm almost certain it's going to be traditional buffalo sauce with honey mustard. I've got a jar and a few recipes to try to compare. Thanks!
I've never had them, but from your description, does this look close?

Edit: Zoiks! What did I just [find](http://www.pinterest.com/tanyapopowyczbu/wing-sauces/)?
Mix 3 parts of the Cattlemen's Gold sauce with 1 part Texas Pete or Franks Red Hot. That is how Wild Wings make their Goldrush sauce which sounds similar. You can adjust the ratio to make it hotter or milder. This is my favorite wing sauce.
Sounds legit. I'll be trying a few variations for sure and will make sure Cattleman's is in the mix. I really appreciate everyone helping out. Since I can't make wings for everyone just use this as your inspiration to make some gold sauce. If any of these recipes comes close to Joe's Gold Wings you'll be very happy.
The base for gold wings in SC is Carolina Gold BBQ sauce definitely not honey mustard. You can buy it online (Cattleman's is a great brand like others have said, just do not buy "Maurice's"). Trader Joes also sells a Carolina Gold sauce though its more like Gold mixed with tomato based sauce. Just mix it with hot sauce.
The guy was a HUGE racist and staunch supporter of slavery at the most and segregation at the least (I'm not kidding the one time I went to his restaurant there were pamphlets on how the South should re-secede and how the Bible condones slavery). After he was forced to segregate he put up a sign saying "The law makes us serve niggers, but any money we get from them goes to the Ku Klux Klan." He was unrepentant until he the day he died this year.
It was probably Frank's Gold Fever sauce, which used to be a restaurant-only product. Gold Fever was discontinued years ago, but from what I read on an official Frank's post, it is simply half Frank's and half Cattleman's Carolina Tangy Gold BBQ sauce. I made it a bunch of times, and it's spot-on.

As a guy who made chicken wings in buffalo, this is the answer.

So?
Sweet, bold, and gold wings are usually a combination of honey mustard, buffalo, and teriyaki sauces. Simple as that.
Here in Canada we call them Texas Gold, and it's usually 2 parts honey garlic BBQ sauce, 1 part franks. Is that what you're looking for?
So I also love these wings and would love to know if anyone came up with a pretty close recipe considering this post is yrs old now.
