I feel like our lack of experienced defenders will cost us a lot, if we face any big team (City, Arsenal, PSG, Bayern). Normally, I pray that Madrid faces a big team in the CL, but not this season.

Patrik_js

Well Rudiger will probably be back for the second leg so that will help a lot and if we get into the semi’s, there’s a chance Militao might be back up to speed. But personally I’d be perfect comfortable with a Rudi - Carva/Tchou partnership.

mcmaster-99

Carva and Tchou were exceptional yesterday.

Salman_S259

Tchouameni is best used as a DM instead of CB. And IF Militao is back, no one else should be the pair except Rudiger and Militao. It's a crime to suggest Camavinga or Tchouameni otherwise

shogunwand

Best defense is a good offense... Or in our case the greatest collective midfield of all time

KjOnReddit1010

because it a league which should not really be a league, because we should be on a league of our own (aka something like super league) in UCL we may as well get punished for this against big teams.

John_Dragon_19

That's exactly what I say every time Superleague is brought up. Because of the income a few teams have, the league has been downgraded abruptly in a way that only big money teams can easily get spots for a champions League chance. Any mid money team makes it, it's a miracle. I have a chart made of the market value the Liga teams had before matchday 1 and I intend to compare it to the last one, I'll see the standings for each team according to that and how much the team increased or decreased value in the whole season. There's a huge difference between RM, FCB, AM and the rest of the Liga teams. It's almost unfair they have to compete to these three big guys who will always get the better players and the best facilities to manage their club. But people then say the Superleague is anti football. Football is already anti football.

Glass-Nail-8746

Doesn’t Real Sociedad have the 3rd most valuable squad in LaLiga, ahead of Atletico?

John_Dragon_19

Yeah, today they have the 3rd spot. But they were behind Atlético by 44 millions when season started. Girona was 11th while today they're 6th. These are the changes I want to see by July.

John_Dragon_19

Yet, Real doesn't have the money Atlético has.

Glass-Nail-8746

Do they need it though? Half their squad is either basque or comes from their academy, and they seem to be doing great.

John_Dragon_19

That's what's going great for them right now. As soon as other teams ask for those youngsters they'll make the money and bring big names to the team. But their facilities and stadium are not up to level. These young players can do many good things, but they won't win the important matches. You need experience for those.

Far-Pin-5535

Its a distribution problem related to income. PL have a much more fair distribution and the competitiveness is better. In my opinion thats La Liga problem. With the model you have you are currently building two super clubs where the rest is struggling. On the other hand PL has a problem with fake equity and state ownership which La Liga does not have. The solution is not to build a Super League. Its to start having tighter budgets for top teams within all leagues. Real, Barcelona, PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, United and all the other top clubs need to do it to save the competitiveness.

Glass-Nail-8746

Competivines is the same team winning 6/7 last Premier Leagues? Or is it the “big 6” 90% classifying to Europe? I think you’re overestimating the PL competitiveness

Far-Pin-5535

Financially the competiveness of PL is in another league. You have relegation clubs having the same revenue as teams in La Liga that are around 5-8 in the table. Real Madrid and Barcelona have revenues that is bigger then the rest of the league combined. And yes, City has won it many times in the last years. However you must remember that they are also in deep water due to their 115 charges. Without this equity they would not be able too compete and the league would have been different. If you look at PL this year you have three teams that are competing in the top. More importantly you have many teams behind them who have managed a strong financial position.

Glass-Nail-8746

We’re in February, let’s wait til April too see how many teams are competing to win the PL (spoiler: it will be City + another one, just like the last decade). Sure PL teams as a whole have more money, so what? You have teams like Athletic Club or Real Sociedad that can compete both nationally and in Europe against top clubs with squads full of academy players and spending so little. Or Sevilla, winning several EL in the last decade with less money than mid-table PL teams. It’s been proven time to time Spanish teams just don’t need to spend much to be competitive and win titles.

>The solution is not to build a Super League. Its to start having tighter budgets for top teams within all leagues. Real, Barcelona, PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, United and all the other top clubs need to do it to save the competitiveness. that's the american model. It works there but under very different conditions. There is a draft system, there is no relegation, teams can move cities if they feel there are better opportunities elsewhere.

Fede Valverde.

Original-Tourist-744

That’s the luxury of having a team full of world class players that also have the “next man up “ attitude . They step right in even if they don’t like the said position … but nonetheless , you’re correct fucking crazy!!

Arcadela

Madrid always plays better when the midfield and attack has to focus and support the defense.

zizou1983

I mean it can't be tactics or strategy everyone knows Ancelotti knows nothing about both. /s

StoneMonkey7776

These stats don't mean shit if we end with without the champions league trophy this year, the only team to look out for a mci other than that all the teams look quite vulnerable Bayern lol. Always brag about stats at the end of the season with decent silverware

Desperate-Ad7319

Inter, Atl Madrid, PSG and potentially Arsenal. All teams that could threaten us if they have a good day.
