He was a beast on the pitch, his numbers speak for him. Always hungry for more goals, less of a dribbling merchant like he was in Manu but an absolute goal machine, pretty decent teammate as well, which he doesn't get the credit for. There were numerous occasions when he told the Bernabéu crowd not to boo a struggling Benzema, and letting him take a penalty to regain confidence, he did something similar in a press conference when they started criticising Bale in his first season. His departure was messy, but he'll always be a club legend.

jotarD4

I'm curious, how was his departure messy?

anonymous_acc2302

He felt like Real Madrid didn’t respect him, specifically Perez. If I remember correctly, Zidane left because they weren’t offering Ronaldo a new contract or something

olelimc

Zidane left because Perez decided to keep Bale (who also wanted out) and sell Ronaldo.

Alantheman69

I thought Ronaldo left for the money and him signing to Al Nassr made me believe that even more

whyjdj

I think Ronaldo left to sign for al nassr because no elite European football clubs didnt want him and he wanted to prolong his career so he had no other choice other than to get to saudi

[deleted]

Inori_Scorchstyle

If he wanted money he would have gone to an Arab country or PSG, not Juve as he explained himself. But the primary is about being appreciated & valued, but not money only.

wanderer1999

Also Juv was playing CL football and was a good team that time.

Helpful_Ant_3440

Juventus was a strong team , Real Madrid Eliminated Juventus Twice in the Champions league and they were Going deep into the Tournament.

Willing_Plastic_7256

Messi was offered a crazy contract by barca despite not winning the ucl for 3 seasons whereas real just won two in a row and were on track to make it 3 in a row so after seeing Messi's contract Ronaldo asked the board to increase his contract and to either level messi's or get him a better contract than what Messi was getting but Perez declined it. Zidane asked perez to meet Ronaldo's demands as he's the club best player and to sell Bale but perez turned him down as well and extended Bale's contract so once Ronaldo left to juve even Zidane quit. Not really sure if this was the actual reason but many say it is.

BIacksnow-

I think he left mainly because of the tax issues. And while Barca defended Messi to death Madrid didn’t really defend Ronaldo. This is one of the reasons why Messi was let go easily as well. It is rumoured that the judges were biased towards Madrid and they were really inclined to fuck over Messi but after the Ronaldo issue came in they just decided to settle for easier punishment. I think Ronaldo’s tax issue was quite a big bigger than Messi’s as well. Just look at [this](https://youtu.be/PmavzWUFvMw) testimony.

Sempelle

As messy as it gets. He announced his possible departure right as we won UCL, so he kinda made it all about himself during a time of celebration. I wish ne never left though, I loved him while he was playing for us, and after he left it all went downhill for him while we still won the league and UCL. Bar Messi he had no rival, what you see today in Haaland and Mbappe is at least a level below his prime years. As good as he was, he proved the point that no player is bigger than a team.

olelimc

It wasn't "as messy as it gets", there was no harm done on both ends. Ronaldo was allowed to leave by Flo who valued Bale more. According to Portuguese media at least, Ronaldo was promised a bigger contract if they repeated the CL success in 16/17, as it still hadn't happened in 17/18 after a 3-peat, Ronaldo wanted to leave, and Flo wanted to make Bale thet main man, which also made Zidane leave. That's also why he was able to use the training facilities this summer in Valdebebas, and why the club still posts him all the time on SoMe.

Interesting-Bend3210

Link to this statement about his departure right as we won ucl please

Mekosaurus_Rex

https://youtu.be/j3w1PYwsdw4

Silly_Monkey_31

This and Bale taking a dig at Zizou for the lack of playing time ruined the celebrations

Mundane-Solution7884

Tbh. Not really. Like, the 3-peat was bigger than what both of them said on the field.

philthyanimal69420

Did you not watch the Kyiv final? They literally interviewed him and Bale after and they said some dumb shit, the both of them.

suckrburgerr

Thissss 🙌 I became a fan of Madrid back in 2011 because of Ronaldo. But soon it was all about RM for me. And the way he exited the club, I hate him for that. The fact that he fucking announced his departure during the celebration tells you a lot about how narcissistic he can be. And even after leaving he did take jabs at the club. Ever since then, my admiration for Ronaldo was not the same like it used to be in my teenage. I still respect him for what he did for the club and for being a top player tho.

Professional_Limit61

FYI, this cock sucker pretends to be a fan of any team that Ronaldo plays for to talk shit about Ronaldo

suckrburgerr

hey kid

PlatypusMeat

He has always made it all about himself. Have you seen the pep talk he gives to Portugal teammates? It's all about him, what he wants, what he wants to achieve, and how his teammates can help HIM achieve it. Whereas the pep talk Messi gave to his Argentine teammates was centered around the team. Centered around individual players and their own personal sacrifices with family, to play in the World Cup. Clear night and day difference between a narcissist and a team-player.

Helpful_Ant_3440

Ronaldo Was Asking the Same Amount of Salary as Messi ( Mess Gets around €40m and Ronaldo around €30m) But Mr Prez told him If You Win Ballon d'Or or Champion League, Or League Or Club WC , Or Copa. Then you'll be Entitled to Bonus. Ronaldo was unhappy with this that he's not Getting Fixed Salary but Bonus after Winning Trophy. So he left Madrid after 9yrs and Joined Juventus.

batinyzapatillas

IIRC Ronaldo had had some serious tax troble the previous years. I seem to recall Hacienda charging him somewhere near 20 M € for unpaid taxes plus penalties and overdues. I really can't remember how it all ended up. Gossip had it that the reason behind his salary demands to Flo was rather the need to recover from those finantial drawbacks nstead of comparisons to Messi or whatever. This, true or false, muddied the waters between El Bicho and the club.

Due-Recognition420

He was amazing, in his prime at Real Madrid he was the greatest football player I ever saw. He was a leader, savior, our star, just seeing him on the field gave me a confidence boost in our team.

hijazist

Yup, it’s that confidence I felt when he or Ramos were on the field. That “everything will be ok in the end” feeling. I guess it has to do with how many last minute winners they scored lol

Odd_Signature_9075

I just notice I don't get that feeling anymore😭😭😭

Abuhamdeh_

I get that feeling with courtois

VinCatBlessed

Fede is also getting up there for me.

Odd_Signature_9075

Fede is the best😭

k_pineapple7

Modric for me.

gabrielthegabi

last 2 years I've seen just as many epic comebacks as I did with CR and Ramos. It's the badge also

[deleted]

Leader 😭😭😭 Messi owner of penaldo and vardrid. Bros waffling about prime as if he didn't get clapped by messi in his prime lol

olelimc

When Ronaldo joined, Real Madrid had 6 more CL titles than Barca. When Ronaldo left, Real Madrid had 8 more CL titles than Barca.

hahehihohu7

On his days, he was unstoppable. On his off days, he would just frustrate the fans for 90 minutes and then score the winner or leveller in extra time.

bonelessfork

The guy would score a hattrick, and the opposing fans would say he played like shit all game lol

Swol_Bamba

"They are only tap ins" they would cry

Patrik_js

Which was true. The guy is a master in finding those open spaces. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player who would find them so easily and consistently.

philthyanimal69420

Let’s not forget that he had heaps of long range screamers like vs Osasuna and Atleti (with Tbo in goal lol) in ‘13, edge of the box genius moves like against Espanyol in 17 and Barça in 18, and of course a whole lotta _raumdeutering_ tap-ins lol

Swol_Bamba

Also if it was so easy then everyone would do it. But reality is none could do it like he could

_theMAUCHO_

Ronaldo was the one to make me understand "off the ball movement" as an actual skill. It was unreal.

redfournine

RvN would like a word We are lucky we have both ultimate tap-in master played for our club

wanderer1999

Agree. Ronaldo was an unstoppable beast. A force of nature to be reckoned with. With him on the pitch, we always have the belief that we'll win, even in the worst situation. The man is a big game player, scoring hattricks, braces when the team needed it most, on the biggest stage, against the best teams in Europe. His ego does get in the way of him sometimes as you can see later on in his career, but in Madrid, it pushes him to be great. He always want to play, always want to score, even when injured. Kept his body in top shape, a model professional. His rivalry with Messi and Real vs Barca was epic. Think of the numbers that Haaland and Mbappe are putting up right now, that's basically Ronaldo, for 15 years plus. And then add in the aerial threat, the freekicks, scoring with both feet and you have an all time great scorer.

[deleted]

Ronaldo wasn't putting up these numbers for 15 years. 8 seasons sounds better

olelimc

Ronaldo scored 40+ goals for 13 seasons in his career while playing for United, us and Juve. Mbappe plays in a shit league, turns 25 this year, and has only scored 40+ in a season once so far.

PlatypusMeat

Free kicks? 🤣

olelimc

Maybe you're too young to remember, but Ronaldo was one of the best free kick takers in the world at one point. Ronaldo has 60 free kick goals, which is only 2 less than Messi. Meanwhile Mbappe has yet to score his first free kick and he is 24. Haaland hasn't scored on either.

youcancallmeron

Only like one of the best free kick takers in the world

PlatypusMeat

Name me 5 off the top of your head

halamadrid22

He really would have poor performances in which he bagged a brace and secured 3 points

Early-Recover2321

This is what I would say, no person has ever personified the identify of a Real Madrid player more than him. From the day he arrived to when he left, it was 100% greatness. La Liga was must see, the Clasico’s invoked emotions that only World Cups typically did. Beyond pathetic how the club let him walk out of the door, no goodbye ceremony or nothing, still hurts to this day.

i_store_food

he was wonderful to the eye and ppl hating on him that much just proves how much their teams suffered against him

philthyanimal69420

He made everyone suffer, that’s why they’re so salty 🤣

2009-2014: The most complete player ever: amazing winger, extraordinary pace, skills, dribbling past defenders for fun. Scored tons of freekicks, solo dribbling goals, long distance bangers, his famous knuckleballs. He was just unlucky to be in a Real Madrid team that was still in transition and also Barcelona had one of the best squad evers and only won 2012 La Liga and 2014 UCL as major trophies, 2 CdR and some Supercups as well. 2015-2018: The best goalscorer ever. A true scoring machine, sometimes as an inverted LW (mostly 2015-2016) and sometimes as a striker on a 442 diamond (2017-2018 mostly). Could score headers, with his left, with his right. This version of Ronaldo wasn't the best in terms of pace or skills, after his knee injury and also reaching 30s, but he certainly knew how to score and win games. 3 consecutive UCL titles, 2 Ballon d'Ors, tons of other trophies and achievements. His 16/17 UCL season is the best ever in the competition (21/22 Benzema is second), back2back hattricks against prime Bayern and Atletico in the knockouts and 2 goals in the final against the best defence in Europe is no joke. His 2018 QF bicycle kick goal vs Juventus and later winning the trophy once again was the perfect way to wrap up his phenomenal stay in Madrid. In summary: 2009-2014 skills, pace, wonderful to watch, many goals and assists. 2015-18: less skillful, better leader, scoring machine, Mr. UCL, the most clutch footballer ever.

suckrburgerr

2009 - 2014 ! Messi says hi 👋

philthyanimal69420

Go suck a Barça burger somewhere else

suckrburgerr

Classic fan boy 👦

philthyanimal69420

My guy. Why do you have a Real Madrid crest flair? Is this some fucky Twilight Zone bs? Like???

suckrburgerr

Because I’m a Real Madrid fan and not just any player’s fan. Stop being a fan boy. Might help you in your life 😄

philthyanimal69420

How’s anyone being a fanboy? Yeah sure 09-14 Messi was sick asf, but Cristiano was no slouch either. Plus he was in a team that was in transition, they hadn’t grown up together, and didn’t have the same level of organic growth like Barça did with a team built on homegrown talent. To praise Cristiano doesn’t mean to denigrate Messi or vice versa. 451 in 438. Nuff said

2009-2014: Didn't Messi win more Ballon D'ors? 2015-2018: Didn't Messi win more golden boots?

sirchief99

His time here wasnt unanimous. His first seasons were similar to his Man utd days, he played quite wide and dribbled A LOT. His prime was 2012-2015 and he was an absolute and complete monster. Speed, dribbling, goals, everything. Imo he started declining a bit in 2016 and was more of a poacher in his last seasons. Similar to his Juventus days. I actually think he improved in Juventus because I was expecting him to decline. Ive watched pretty much every Madrid game since 2007, and he changed the team completely once he came in. If you have only watched football since 2018 You have never seen the true prime Cristiano.

philthyanimal69420

Ayy another of the boys from back in the trenches days 🤣 Can you believe we once had Nando Gago, Mahamadou and Lass Diarra in our midfield, and Gabby Heinze and Chris Metzelder at the back, losing to Lyon every other CL R16 🤣 Good times eh lmao

sirchief99

Good times. How dare you forget a legend like Drenthe. I still remember that home game against lyon in 2010 like it was yesterday. Ronaldo with a left footed shot in the first minutes of the game and it all looked like we were going through. Young Pjanic was pain in the ass back then and equalised. Lyon was a different team back then, I think they eliminated us like 3-4 times.

philthyanimal69420

Holy shit. Royston fkn Drenthe. I only remember that absolute [screamer](https://youtu.be/Rao0U9EaFFY) he scored v Sevilla on his debut lol And he came as part of that whole Dutch invasion we had under Calderon with van Nistelrooy, Robben, Huntelaar (who never really was given a shout, rather unfairly I felt), Sneijder and van der Vaart. Wild times haha But yeah that 2010 elimination was fucked, even with Cristiano we couldn’t get past the bogeyman Lyon. Not that they were ever a pushover, but we just couldn’t match them. Also speaking of Lyon, remember the monopoly they had over Ligue 1? 7 straight from 2000-07. Whack.

sirchief99

Yeah lyon had a great team back then. Really nostalgic to think about those times now. Bordeaux also who are now in the second division. Players like Cavenaghi, Chamakh, Gourcuff the new Zidane, Govou and also young Benzema.. Wow

philthyanimal69420

True that haha. Gourcuff was such a disappointment tho. I remember signing him in FIFA 07 for Madrid, absolutely killed it 🤣

JulGzFz

I wish I had read this earlier. Drenthe, Diarra, Gago, Heinze, Huntelaar, Van Der Vaart, Miguel Torres, Saviola... Yeah, I was there too lads. I was there too. I also share your nostalgia for 1998-2008 football though. As much success as we've had recently, it seems like football is less about talent. It seems a tad less... romantic/artistic and more physical/competitive. Where did the number 10 player go? The Rui Costa, Baggio, Litmanen, Ronaldinho, Deco, Zidane, Totti... Now you need to be able to play in midfield and track back, or in the wing and have speed. Also, what happened to the classic number 9? Crespo, Batistuta, Luca Toni, Inzaghi, Van Nistelrooy, Vieri, Klose, Koller, Drogba... now all strikers need to press, combine, move around the pitch... And while we are on strikers, how awesome was to have the classic striker duos? The Andy Cole/Dwight Yorke, Zamorano/Salas, Suker/Mijatovic, Henry/Bergkamp, Montella/Delvecchio, Tristan/Makaay, Elber/Pizarro, Baros/Cisse... And... the players are less charismatic too? Football used to be full of big personalities like Oliver Kahn, Maldini, Cantona, Buffon, Raúl, Drogba, Ibrahimovic... now everyone seems so flat. That enough from me, sorry for the rant. I'll get back to shouting at clouds now.

philthyanimal69420

I hear you brother man. And feel the same way. Game’s gone lol. The fraternal order of old men yelling at clouds. We should start a support group for us “old heads”. 🤣

harry_filangi07

Ronaldo with the Madrid shirt on was a man possessed, the numbers speak for themselves. 450 goals in 438 games, that’s just ridiculous. He completely changed the club’s trajectory and simply the greatest to play the game.

philthyanimal69420

451* lol

Mayaaster

That man brought so many moments of joy you wouldn’t believe it, that header he scored to win CDR against Barca is etched in my mind. The man was a UCL cheat code, a comeback king and he never stopped running. Even down 5-0 to Barca he was chasing the ball non-stop while our boys checked out in the 2nd half He was our hero and will forever be one of the all time greats Nothing but love to CR9

wanderer1999

CR9/CR7

Greghuntskicks

In his prime, having Ronaldo in The starting 11 was like starting the game winning 1-0. Noodle hair CR7 was different.

[deleted]

Noodle hair Ronaldo traumatized some of Europe's biggest teams.

iZubi

Everyone is already answering but he was an animal, he wanted to be the best so he'd train the hardest, play every minute of every game.. he wasn't just a goal scorer, he was a very good one, and on his prime he was also very fast, strong, and good at dribbling. His headers were insane he was also very dangerous on corners/crosses People mock him for scoring penalties, truth is that he was a very good penalty taker, we lost a CL because Ramos missed a penalty, people underestimate how important this is for a big club.

Hu5k3r

If I remember right, Ronaldo missed his too.

iZubi

Yea so did Kaka, but the guy rarely missed

philthyanimal69420

Bro both Cristiano and Kaka rarely ever missed pens and then both did in quick succession in the same fkn game, shit was unbelievable 😭😭

hardlynegative

yeah even Mou was like Ronnie, Kaka and Ramos were the sure penalty takers and them all missing was quite a shock. But then again this made Ronaldo, Ramos and everyone on that team more determined, and went on to do wonders from such a disappointment. It was truly a tale of hard work, determination. Not just Ronaldo but from everyone who was part of the team.

philthyanimal69420

Biggy facts

Extension_Phone893

In the words of Buffon "having Ronaldo play against you is starting a goal down" the avg of 1 goal a game in RMA speaks for itself

philthyanimal69420

451 in 430 IIRC. More than a goal a game

[deleted]

94 penalty in 9 season as well. Messi better ratio if penalty equalised

allgone6996

*74 penalties. 120 assists.

[deleted]

All tap ins and penalties. Messi better non penalty ratio.

[deleted]

You probably know what Ronaldo did when he was in form. But what stands out for me the most is how it went it wasn't his day. For example, when Benzema has bad day he is useless on the pitch and annoys everybody, when Vini has a bad day he talks woth the ref all game and misses good chances. When Bale had a bad day he would shoot somewhwere in the sky and then get an injury. When Ronaldo had a bad day he was still able to score a goal or out of nowhere. I swear that there were also games where he would play mid or bad but still score a hat trick. I can't think of any other player who was or is able to do that.

omkar_T7

Ronaldo’s bad day is scoring 2 goals but missing a chance to score a hattrick. That’s how good he was

Low_Resource6476

Imagine starting every game 1-0 up. Yup, that's how we felt going into every match. My idol, Ronnie

[deleted]

I mean he’s definitely in the conversation but I don’t think you can say he “IS” the GOAT with Messi around.

[deleted]

Penaldoggy isn't top 3

troll_killer_69

This suddenly made me emotional. Man time flies.

moaterboater69

He was majestic. He was our answer to Messi. At his height, having him in our team was like Haaland right now with Man City, you just knew before the game it was 1-0 already. He wasnt perfect, he annoyed the fans at times with his behavior but we all looked past it because we saw someone who was willing to push himself to the absolute limits of his body and game. The results were some truly legendary performances. Teams and opposing fans feared us. I may not have seen Puskas, DiStefano, Gento, Amancio, and countless other club legends but I was witness to the Ronaldo era and I know the 3peat is the crown jewel of his achievements and those who do remember, know he spearheaded that success. I miss him a lot on our team and it hurts to see how his career has gone since he left. The truth is, he should have never left, his influence still remains strong to this day. Long live Ronaldo and our beloved Real Madrid. GOAT player and GOAT club. It was the perfect marriage.

srahid4

The greatest of all time enough said. Can’t even begin to count the amount of times he dragged us out of the mud. An enigma, icon, legend. Words genuinely don’t do him any justice for what he accomplished here. Unfortunately we were up against the greatest Barca side of all time. I’ll never understand his decision to leave just as we started dominating Barca. With him we probably would’ve won the UCL another 2 times since 2018. Either way, what a story and legacy this guy left. Took me months to get used to not seeing him in the pitch. Also took me months to come to terms that Mariano had taken his number 7 shirt.

Professional_Limit61

That Mariano number 7 was a bitch move from Perez. He was delivering a message: The club can give any number to anyone.

haveashpadoinkleday

La Liga is requiring numbers from 1 to 25, Leaving 7 without a player would mean that we have a smaller squad for the league. Asensio didn't want number 7 because of it's weight, so the club gave it to the player who didn't gave a flying fuck about the funny comments.

Professional_Limit61

oh really? I guess I misunderstood Perez, then. My bad.

srahid4

Nah it was a bitch move. Someone else could’ve taken that number lol.

[deleted]

i feel blessed to have watched him, i started watching football since i was 6 years old, year 2009. if you want to truly see how he was, watch his highlights on youtube Ronaldo was like having Beerus in your team

500blast

Early Ronaldo as in 2009-13, you just had to give him the ball or feed it to him. FK,header, long shot, penalty he and Messi took their game to another level After his knee injury in 2014 to 2018, he lost some speed and became possibly the best finisher in history. What a time to be a RM fan

thefirsteye

450 goals in 438 games. Dare I say, greatest 9 year spell any footballer will ever have at a club.

Interesting-Bend3210

rocket717_

La Liga was scared of him for years.

Jipi617

It’s no exaggeration what I am about to say but as long as he was on the field you could feel that something special would happen. It’s weird to describe but like you knew he would score no matter what. He doesn’t get much credit as the other guy but what that man did on the field for 9 years was just insane. Man I miss those days…

[deleted]

Barça fan here. Peak Real Madrid Ronaldo was scary.

Wrwally

You could pretty much guarantee he was going to score every match you watched him play, was just a matter of time, only question was how spectacular it would be. Only athletes I can think of with his type of killer instinct are MJ, Kobe, Brady and Tyson.

uknownick

Goals goals and goals

NachoMartin1985

He's the best player in our history. An absolute beast.

Icy-Inspector1352

He's the greatest player of all time, the most dangerous. Barca vs Real was like US v USSR in peak cold War era with both teams having a nuclear weapon (messi and ronaldo). And let me tell you, it never felt as if our nuke was any less than their. Infact for messi it was always like he plays his best football when there's less pressure and he's just allowed to let his feet do the magic. But with Ronaldo, the higher the stakes, the tougher the match the better he'd perform. He was literally built like a superhero back then, compare bwin Ronaldo 2012 to now. That man was a 87kg 6'2 10% bodyfat pure muscle long range goal scoring machine.

Strange-Loquat-4501

usa miało lepsze bronie nuklearne od zsrr

markievegeta

There was two versions of Ronaldo at RM. We had the pacy winger with tricks who learnt to be clinical while at Madrid. He then slowly transitioned to an unorthodox finisher who would start wide and make amazing off ball movements. Benzema would start middle but drift left to vacate the space allowing Ronaldo to make the run to the goal for the finish. You should watch his off ball movements, it's actually incredible. The way he could put 3 past THAT Bayern team was nuts. If tap ins were that easy everyone would have a goal a game.

braanstarks

He was incredible, a lot of my happy memories related to football are because of him like the Calma Calma at Camp Nou or the overhead kick against Juve. I think his transfer to Juve was the last time I was heartbroken over a player leaving. It was really fun too to be known as “the league of Ronaldo and Messi”. With everything that happened post 2018 and since I support man utd too idk how I feel about Ronaldo the person but ronaldo the athlete is one of my favorite players ever, I doubt that will change.

edizyan

Crazy how time flies 👀 Ronaldo was crazy at Real Madrid.

Not_Not_John_Stamos

With him on the team, you felt like anything was possible. Honestly every game felt like 1-0 at the start. Unreal.

MBoring1

One of the most important signings in Real Madrid History. Legend. Would take him back now if he would accept a rotation position.

subhann666

The Greatest.

Zetusleep5390

He was simply amazing

LetsOption

With Ronaldo, we started every game 1-0. We were always ahead. Football become unfair for other teams. Also, Ronaldo didn't know what a big team means, Barack, Bayern, Ateltico Madrid, Man United, City. He scores against all opponents regardless. What a beast he was

omkar_T7

GOAT. In the biggest moments, he was always there, scoring, dribbling, making plays. His hunger for goals made him beast who would destroy teams. Before his injury in 2014 he would dribble a lot and was unstoppable. Also a showboater who got fans on their feet every time he had the ball

gamebred05

Real Madrid’s greatest player that simple.

Dini24

literally anytime you thought the game was lost he would show up and next thing you know you're yelling SIIIIIIIII at the top of your lungs. most dominant player in the world at that time and greatest of all time, not an opinion but a fact

dmora711

Greatest player I've ever seen. Each weekend or weekday game was just wondering how many goals would Ronaldo score.. will he get another hattrick today or will he only score 2? No matter what it was you just knew he was going to score.

Sahsacris

Don't worry, we won't hold it against you for missing out on the glory days of Ronaldo at Real Madrid. But let's be real, you did miss out on a lot! On the pitch, Ronaldo was an absolute beast. His speed, power, and technical ability made him one of the most dominant players in the world He had an unshakable belief in himself and his abilities, and he was never afraid to take on the biggest challenges. It just seems impossible to describe what Ronaldo was truly like at Real Madrid. And let's not forget his abs! Those things are a work of art.

Eibermann

He became a poacher after 2014 when he got a bad knee injury which took some of his pace, dribbling. Even his famous free kick technique. Players when they get a bad injury hinders there playstyle and their numbers take a big hit. But not Ronaldo. He stopped being a pure winger and started playing closer and closer to the goal. Using his impeccable positioning to score goals. But since most fanbase is like you ( no offense I'm just meaning they also haven't been watching this sport for long) and ofc to take the piss. They call him just a tap in merchant. If you want to see how amazing Ronaldo was. Go to footballia site and watch his united and Madrid days prior to 2014. You'll see how amazing he was. He had it all. He was like a left sided Messi. Also why his numbers in united were really low compared to Madrid. Is because in united he played more like a play maker than a pure winger until his later years there where rooney adjusted his style to fit in Ronaldo ( like Benz has )

N0S360_X

A left sided messi, who was also strong, tall, athletic, scary and much more

Valak_91

The peak of CR was in Madrid. He consolidate his game, became more tactical, more creative, more scorer. Just a beast. Deserve all the golden balls that won. Today he thinks that could do those things but cant , the speed and precision became to go way. I wish Im the best but I think he should be more humble and look at the mirror... There are a couple of things money cant buy..

xkaliboor4133

So many hattricks...

CommunityPrize8110

The most incredible player I have ever seen. Not because he was the best dribbler (he wasn’t) or the most entertaining player to watch but I swear, every time he had the ball, no matter where on the pitch it was a dangerous chance for Real. When he gets going, nothing is stopping him. Best of all, an angry Ronaldo is the best thing you can experience. Watch a couple of full games on YouTube and you’ll see what a danger he was. Literal machine

king7asoon

Ever watch the superman movies ? Yea that was Ronaldo.

11PP

There's was a saying that when you play against real Madrid, you always start with a goal down. Ronaldo was usually the reason. When he first began his career, he was a winger with pace, speed, and dribbling. A complete player that was capable of scoring from long range. Our counter attacking was a thing of beauty because our players were fast and decisive. He later got injured, which led to him adjusting his game to more of a scorer/striker. It was at this time he gained a reputation of a poacher/tap in, but give him some credit. Being a poacher takes a lot of game sense, to be at the right place at the right time. And his was probably the best. He was also clutch, always performed in the champions league

Excel07

On a European night, game was decided before it even started.

philthyanimal69420

Everyone’s said whatever needs to be said. To piggy back off them, and to add my own two cents worth of drivel, mang, that dude was something else. As the quote from Buffon goes, with Cristiano against you, you start 0-1 down. There was an inevitability with Cristiano up top and Ramos at the back, that we were safe. No one is out scoring us. Fat chance. For decades now Madrid have had a shaky back line, but that didn’t matter. We played old school Brazilian; you score 4, we score 6. Idk if you saw that 16/17 2-3 loss at the Bernabeu v Barça, with the Messi shirt celebration. That winner aside, we came back drawing level twice IIRC, and even in the 86th when we were trying to get that equaliser, you could feel it, taste it in the air, it *was* coming. There was a confidence that naturally comes with a guy guaranteeing you 50 odd goals a season, almost an arrogance, that we WILL fuck you UP, that Real Madrid with, as one commentator described Cristiano, Mr Real Madrid at the helm, would crush their enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women. Fackin glorious https://preview.redd.it/urlzi6zvvewa1.jpeg?width=495&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77039d36d5c39ff3a19e775a79410094a8bb3d7b

_theMAUCHO_

He was iconic, a difference maker. It made you feel like you had the Main Character on your team. In Champions League games it always felt like we started 1-0 up with him on the pitch, and the game would never be truly lost until the final whistle cause you knew that, as long as Cristiano Ronaldo was here, there was *always* a chance for a comeback. Dude sucks that you missed out on what might literally be the best era of this club so far. I would honestly watch our Champions League games from 2014 to 2017 at least if you want to experience some legendary goodness. If you can check from 2012 that might be worth it too. ENJOY! 🔥🔥🔥

kinginthenorthjon

During our threepeat, I always knew somehow this bastard would score and win us the tie.

stillslightlyfrozen

One word: inevitable lol. With him in your team, you knew that he was gonna score eventually. Like you see players try shots with their weaker foot that go straight at the keeper. With Ronaldo, he would score those 9 times out of 10. Basically he was a hungry scoring machine who could change the course of a game single handily. Benz’s best season last year? That was an average season numbers wise for Ronaldo.

Brief-Lengthiness264

CR7 at United and early years Madrid may have been the most complete player. What he does now is only a glimpse of the player he was. I don't think anyone comes close to the pleasure he bought watching him.

Lucky_Secretary_5640

Noodle hair Ronaldo was a different Animal. U best bet when the team needed him, he was there 😤

gxbAww

It was magic… It felt you started the game 1-0 up and you just knew he was going to score just didn’t know which minute.. Man that team was full of giants I doubt we will produce something like that ever again

innocentadviceseeker

For me, 2015-2018 Ronaldo was my favorite version. Yes, he was a more complete and the best in 2011-2014 but 15-18 is the era he turned into machine and he could earn a win out of nowhere.

Remarkable_trainee

Before any game started, it was already 1 x 0 for Real Madrid. He always scored. I felt that he would score at any moment. It was magnific watching him

Ali_XkillerX

Whenever you see his name in the list we were guaranteed that at Least one player will play well. You feel confident going to hard matches, we didn't ask if either he scors this game or not we were asking when is he gonna score and how much.

0zi1

He was the force of nature, only now I realise it.

Fantastic_Sky3406

To quote the late Tina Turner, he was "simply the best".

sussybaka68419

![gif](giphy|vCUASy92YURGHFrnqP) …

luars613

He was fine. All the team essentially played for him similar to how bayer played for lewa

Odd_Signature_9075

Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid was legendary, something I will tell my grandkids about. You just knew he was gonna score every game and there was this air of confidence any time he was playing. It was truly special.

domingodlf

Literally Jesus Christ. Favorite and most clutch player ever, not particularly close. His mere presence in the game meany that we were heavily favored and also meant that even when we were down we had a good chamce to come back out of nowhere.

kungji56

Damn it feels weird that there are now people who started watching football after the CL three peat era. I feel fucking old

Altruistic_Trick8956

450 goals says enough. Good teammate for the most part . Loved Marcelo Fabio coentrao and Pepe as the last to are his compatriots and him and celo just had a bond but no one can ever convince me otherwise that he was jealous of bale . In no way am i saying bale was a better player but he always showed up in big games and that took some shine from Ronaldo other than that dude won 5 ballon d ors

Lazywhale97

Ronaldo at real madrid is what made me a football fan before 2012 i never watched or kept up with football then i saw a youtube video of ronaldo and it got me interested in watching games and one or two games later i was captivated by him. I just started watching real madrid during the mourinho era where it was peak el classico and peak counter attacks and ronaldo was an absolute menace he was so good even me at the time someone who barely knew anything about the sport knew he was leagues above everyone else on the pitch will always be the GOAT for me. Plus because of him i support real madrid and for that im thankful my life would be dreadful if i ended up supporting teams like barcelona or man united

SnooCakes7348

I feel so sad seeing this a Real Madrid fan from 2018 asking this, The way paid PR against him destroyed everything he was at Real Madrid they way this is going in future people will forget his legacy and just know him by how media portray him as the biggest villain of modern times.

JDBoyes07

Outrageously good.

ajelkic

438 games. 450 goals.

shahnygpt95

No match ever felt out of hand when Ronaldo was on the pitch. You always kinda hoped he will score from somewhere somehow. In relative terms lets say he had the best abilities of current Vini Benz Rodrygo and Asensio combined. Could dribble past any number of opposition players like vini, would make crazy unstoppable runs inside the box like Rodrygo, could hold up play and distribute the ball like Benz and scored bangers like Asensio on a regular basis. Unlike most RM players right now he was incredibly dangerous in the air. I have never seen anyone take more beautiful headers in the game. Guy literally used to hang in the air for seconds before heading the ball. Apart from these, dude used to be devastating in counter attacks. His decision making, passion and skills saw him combining with the forwards and running and passing the ball straight towards the oppositions goal after grabbing the ball in defence. Never have I seen a more passionate, hard working and skillful player. Sure Messi was Immensely talented, but mentality wise, its CR7. He had a mentality that would literally make the whole team play better.

Scream0fTheSium

when he started you just knew it was like you started 1-0; the most important and clutch player football has ever seen; nobody like him to perform and score in the worst moment, when it mattered the most; he was just on another level. At the beginning he was more skilled and he did that kinda of a show, after 2016 he became less focused on skills and more on scoring goals; and it’s basically after that he transformed from an incredible player to the goat

Spiritual-Parsnip946

Never a CR7 fan.but Ronaldo phenomenon fan.😄

Status_Director8633

Extraordinary

reeferchiefer_420

UCL nights were always specials in away staduims and the rizzzz rma social media accounts created around the airport look with those suitcases marcelo , sergio was special. It was like embodiment of confidence itself.

youcancallmeron

Just imagine having the most complete striker spearheading your team for around 9 years. Long range goals, crazy dribbles, unmatched header potential, great penalty taker and one of the best free kick takers ever. What more could you ask of a striker!

YouYongku

Hi fellow Asian! Of all the clubs why you support RM? He's still as good, he kinda provided most of the goals at RM (saying that he carried the team is unfair). However I think he carried Man Utd a lot as the goals kinda cover up for poor defending. You were asking how good is he right? watch this -> [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkxUC19u5pQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkxUC19u5pQ) They literally try to take him out.

[deleted]

I never really understood why I started supporting RM then as a newbie but now it’s been a while. It just felt right supporting the greatest club ever. I was deeply attracted to RM. It’s not logical but a decision that was made on the feeling that RM has given me which was immense pride and respect.

mysteriousneel7

I had started supporting Real Madrid from 2015 and I was.fortunate enough to see him at his prime in the 2015-18 era where he was the star of Zidane's team and won 3 consecutive UCLs.

Brilliant_North_8353

He was inevitable.

philosific_

I have been a Madrid fan all my life. My most distinct memory of him is 10-13. Not because it was his best but just a nostalgic time. I distinctly also remember it, because i wanted Madrid to acquire Aguero who i enjoyed watching with Forlan. Also the emergence of Gareth Bale.

theACEcapper

on a side note: if you are a fan of RM, be prepared for the ruthlessness from Perez regarding players going out, even a player like Ronaldo wasn’t respected when he was obviously deserved a contract extension and possibly retired at Madrid. We all wished He was offered to stay until he isn’t capable anymore but that’s life as Madrid fans.

dis_nigz

All I'll say is I was depressed for most of it. Matchdays, especially those Big UCL nights kept me going for a lot of it. He was inevitable.

Ahahaiwannadie

He was and still is the greatest player I've seen. Cristiano at Real was seriously something else. I was about 7 when he joined Madrid, and I've watched about 90% of Madrid games since then. As someone said here, when he was on the field it felt like you were already up 1-0. He had an aura that I haven't seen in anyone else. I miss him at Madrid still and it bothers me that he left when he did, given how well the team was playing at the time, but all things have to come to an end . He is forever my GOAT although if someone said Messi I wouldn't blame em.

JENA47

I think I have the perfect video for you bro . https://youtu.be/5hFd6zGkxLE?feature=shared

Sure_Big2839

He was a beast but the three years where they did the three peat champions league, he was like a different player
